People are abandoning their cars for expensive repairs.
Should have some type of fake engine or some type of machine that you can hook it on to run it to make sure that it's working right before you put it all back in, kind of like how they test engines out of the vehicle
For all those interested it is years between 2015-2019
One of the reasons why EVs are so reliable, 4 moving parts instead of 1200.
Modern auto transmissions have to much computer crap attached, have always preferred manuals, more reliable, fuel efficient and easier/cheaper to rebuild.
Don't forget that today's transmissions have 8-12 gears vs 4-6 gears the transmissions had in the past. You want that extra complexity so the transmission fails more often so you can get somewhat better fuel economy.
🤔 Either you live in an area with a bunch of s***** people or you're not telling the full story
People use those temp plates a lot longer in vegas lol
He'll be back in a year for the transmission
Check the radiator and make sure you don't have the pink milkshake.
I took transmissions in school fuck that r and r
Was told no demand for engine rebuilders when I was younger
Don't hold your breath. Been going on along time and nothing really fixed. It will all faze itself out someday.
Bring back the manuals!
moms crapped out at like 60k miles. was a 2021 silverado.
Gotta get that deposit man. At least over the parts.
It’s all in the method and the way you take it out. It’ll tell you exactly how it goes back together.
Fun fact: Customer was a woman with medical issues. Is currently laid up in a hospital fighting for her life. She has no friends and no family. Just her pets and her car that is unfortunately at the shop at the time of medical conditions. Mechanic proceeds to itch about ladies car not being paid for and/or picked up and now literally stealing said vehicle, getting some "authority" to sign off on the theft and reselling stolen vehicle to unsuspecting new customer. Who the fk said your repair was perfect? That you did the right thing? Mechanics are infallible now? Their work is above reproach? Get fkd. Seriously.
That's why its called black magic
Government motors no good buy nice f150 with aluminum parts way better
I watched a man rebuild mine in a 1974 monte carlo after he walked over to a table and dumped it out and every part went all over the table he had with a hole in it. He put it in the hole large end up and proceeded to put parts back in until he didn't like what it looked like. He only changed 4. He had the whole thing back together is about 45 minutes and 4 beers. The beers were mine
Not you can get a brand new remanufactured complete valve body from street smart transmission for less than $800. If you're paying over $1,000 you're paying too much.
That's what happens when you ''cram''8 different ratios ! 5 is more than enough ! 8Speeds ,what were they thinking? The more?More problems .Buy a Toyota !
2004 GMC sierra 3500 dually 4x4 . 430k on my Allison 5 speed . I guess I'm lucky.
Pass law to make manufacturers keep a rebuild center to receive, rebuild, test and send back.
Or you could wiggle the shift lever, and maybe get lucky.
Stop pushing the car. Let it accelerate on its own. Have patience and let the people go around if they have a problem. Oh and give the gas bare minimum push. Quarter to half an inch. Free advice. Didnt cost you anything.
Nissan garbage 😂
It's either a bad connection, a bad ground. Or the neutral safety switch, which Fords are known for.
Greetings from a Germany master Tech. Your absolut right ist Not the Diagnostik Tool wich sylay whats wtong
Those bolts may be tight but thank your lucky stars it looks like it lives in the south
You need to learn to explain to your customers that it's going to cost more than the car is worth to fix it it must be nice when you're the recipient of a car that you fixed and it's worth more then the part you put in it I feel like you are like the pot calling the kettle black do you know better I do not feel sorry for you at all to get their vehicle😮
Yep
I have a 2018 Colorado z-71 and its had that same problem
Planned obsolescence. Transmissions are failing becauce the manufacturers are colluding to drive up repair costs so they can make more transmissions!
What is it with transmissions these days. Kia and Hyundai the same
My chevy did a similar thing. The transmission speed sensor turned out good. I replaced the sensor harness. Problem solved.
You must be talking about dealerships a lot of their mechanics don't know how to rebuild engines or Transmissions
What about the cvt junk in Nissan and other cars. They don't go a year without overheating and going into limp mode when they are brand new
Year after year, EPA, NHTSA and CARB, mandates higher and higher "efficiency" for newer engines and transmissions combined with big auto lobbyists we get unproven designs with monopolistic sells. The more gears and electronics you install and the more they break. Also known as positive correlation.
It's one thing to rebuild a transmission like a Saginaw that is manual it's another thing to have a modern automatic transmission personally if it was going in someone else's car I would do a reman it's not about the pride of putting an automatic back together it's about covering your ass and you can play blame game on someone else working for a major auto parts retailer on the commercial side a lot of transmissions no bullshit give you a 3-year warranty with unlimited miles which is pretty damn good you really can't beat that in the time it saves plus if you buy from a quality remanufacturer they will already put it on a dyno therefore it's not going to hurt your end you know that you're getting something that's already been tested when you rebuild the transmission yourself you don't know until you get into the vehicle That's a whole lot of risk to take
Some things take time to learn. Society is dumbing us down so we can be lazy brains. Once you put a part in the wrong way, you have learned not to do it again. Do more & be more.
I recall having my BMW 740 trans being rebuilt by a great shop. What closed the deal for me was they used a dyno(?) designed to test the trans out of the car with various programs that replicated real world conditions. Is this still a thing?
proudly made in mexico using chinese parts and sold to us at full price.
Sooooo true !!!!!!
This is exactly why I won’t fucking own. Anything that’s been made in the past 10 or 15 years because of this type of crap.
Then there are folks who buy only tried and true 10 year old lexuses and toyotas, who want non of that 😅
You know how the teacher was trying to get us to focus in school and pay attention to the small details?? We got a beaten when we didn’t pay attention and we learn how to do things the right way. And furthermore, we had no voice to express our ideals to see whether day was good or bad most times I should say. The new generation behind us. Their parents rebelled against the ideas that made us stronger and able to deal with complicated things, and when it went wrong, we fixed it and it told us to pay attention even closer, but not the passivist parents they gave them to have a voice to express themselves saying that they know nothing about how things work they continue. Now you have this foolishness of the day they are higher educated and create foolishness that caused headaches for everyone to deal with. They threw up their hand and hide and say they don’t know what the problem is. Is the users fault that theses things has failed on the vehicle.
the rise of obsolescence on every front is the order of the day for america & americans.Does abortion ring a bell? in the guise of planned parenthood? americas haters & enemies live nextdoor & across the street from us.
Willing to bet they did this bc the potential lawsuit was cheaper than actually making it right.
We need Yelp reviews for customers. Back when we used to live in a high trust Society, this kind of thing wouldn't happen due to public shaming and ostracization. These days were basically living in a modern-day Tower of Babel.
