What is The Perfect Camera?

- The goalpost has moved in 2023. It used to be, full frame with IBIS, phase detect and HD 120fps. Those specs are lame now. This is the perfect camera specs in 2023 and beyond. Is the DJI Pocket 3 perfect? DJI Action 4 or Gopro 12? Could micro four thirds make a tiny camera again? Is full frame needed for vlogging?

Osmo Pocket 3 review?
If we were talking about a computer, the perfect one would vary depending on the person. Because its usage area is versatile. For example, my expectation from a dishwasher is that it washes the dishes cleanly. Or what do you expect from an air conditioner? My expectations from a camera are that it gives accurate colors and that autofocus works properly. All other features of the camera are added for the convenience of the user.
Today's camera manufacturers can't do their job right. Because even a small pocket camera 20 years ago could instantly focus on the subject and color accuracy was good. Moreover, they had a built-in flash. It is on the mobile phone but not on the camera! I think manufacturers think that people no longer take photos and videos indoors and at night. They even remove the visors. LCD screen visible in sunny weather. Night flash problem, daytime LCD screen problem. How do camera manufacturers expect people to take photos and videos when they strip away the most basic components?
Focus and color accuracy fail in new generation mirrorless cameras. Especially in the evening and indoors. After taking a photo or video, it cannot be seen on the small LCD screen, but when you look at it on a large screen at home, you see that it is out of focus. There is no repeat of that moment!
Televisions and monitors are constantly getting bigger. Resolution is an important issue in video and photography. Because we store photos and videos digitally and look at them on larger screens and monitors in the future.
I am sure DJI gave you the Pocket 3 way ahead of everybody else. You are just holding the secret longer than everyone to show your commitment and loyalty for future endeavors 😂
They only give them corporate shills like Danny Manning and Jevon Devney. Why would they give it to someone whose going to be honest?
I'm looking forward to hearing your DJI Pocket 3 comments Thanks for a year of brilliant commentary...I've learned a lot from you.
exactly what i was thinking!
He went silent because he is so happy about the news :P
I've never laughed so hard, learned and/or been so interested in a camera video ever! This is entertainment!
The DJI Pocket 3!!! Why you don’t have it?
No removable battery. No sale.
@@strongereveryday2302 charging rate is pretty impressive (80% in just 16 minutes, providing up to two hours of shooting).. Nowadays batteries life cycle is way better than they used to be. No one will use same camera more than 10 years in row to be honest.. There will be DJI pocket 12.. or something with more than 8K120fps 🤣
Because they know he won’t shill
The pocket 3 seems near perfect if you ask me, but I'm pretty sure Kasey will find some cracks nobody else is talking about. Thyroid cancer will be one to start with... I'm not ordering one until it at least goes through the @cameraconspiracies blender 😅
@@strongereveryday2302Nobody cares homie. It's 2023. That thing you are typing on doesn't have one so better throw it away.
I was expecting a Pocket 3 video yesterday 😂
I pre-ordered it because Casey didn't make a video exposing flaws I missed.
Yeah. You have to wait for his honest review because DJI won’t give it to him early. Pathetic.
Yup, I have the Pocket 3 and so far it looks really good. 1" sensor, mechanical stability, 10 bit color, dynamic tracking, face tracking, built in wireless mic (I know you hate them), very long run time, can be used as a tracking web cam, and offers a Black Mist filter! You'll need a different camera for wild life though.
The only stupid stuff about it. No weather proof but why does it need built in battery? If only they made it replaceable battery, it'd be the best device ever, defeating all 1" sensor camera
@@trym2121 It records for around 2 1/2 hours and the kit comes with a battery handle that extends record time to over 4 hours... What exactly are you recording? You can buy spares of those handles if you want. Obviously, you can connect a battery bank or charger while recording. Not to mention it fast charges to 80% in 15 minutes, full charge in 30...
As far as weather proofing... I guess if you're out vlogging in a thunderstorm, that's what action cams are for.
legit life quest: perfect camera. perfect headphones.
Waiting for your review of the Pocket 3!
A perfect camera is one that supports a perfect lens in all its technical glory and doesn't let it drop.
Pocket 3 is your answer. No manual focus though the phase detect AF seems brilliant.
You’re so right about Panny body size. The G9II is too big. A G80/85II, or GX9II, with PDAF, the latest IBIS and subject detection… with the 9mm lens would be so good…
Completely agree. Sony, GIVE US X4000!!! 4K, 120p, HDR. Also give us a magnet focal length lens changer like the new DJI pocket 3, that is dope. And detachable lav mic WITH built in shotgun mic in body. I'll go to Thailand if someone gifts me one...
perfect camera is a Fujifilm like ZF with a gfx sensor, film simulation, Sony autofocus and 3d party lens (or like x100 just one 😅)😊 keep up with great work 🍻
Casey your new VLOG camera needs to be the new DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Finally your low-res 1" sensor, all gimbal stabe (so no cropping) and amazing human/object tracking for any situation with ultra low light killer capabilities and wid(er) angle + glimmer glass options. Go get it!
Man, Pocket 3 just came out
Sounds like your dream cam is the Pocket 3. Looking forward to the review!
Actually forget that, you're asking for too much😀
Been enjoying the s5iix. Sure, higher rolling shutter values and crop 4k 60, but man, the image, colors, and features. money.
Ah, hear ya. How about the new DJI pocket 3 with a 1" sensor for vlogging mentioned by others? But wait, there just is no way of satisfying you.
Your perfect camera is describing DJI Pocket 3. 1” sensor. Phase detect auto-focus. 10 bit log (not 12). Optical stabilization. No mic port, but all wireless, with a lav mic port if you wanna do that. Tripod screw on battery attachment. 4K120 and 1080p@240. It doesn’t have that video cam design, but it’s like the size of a snickers bar. You can also use it as a webcam. I think this is as close as you can get to what you’re asking for.
yeah.. and DJI pocket 3 doesn't have so many megapixels.. That is what he wanted :)
Casey HATES wireless mic. *He* thinks it's dangerous for his health.
@@JetBen555 lol :D if he think its dangerous for his health what about 5G connections or other connections that he uses all the time
@@JetBen555 a tiny transmitter that he can keep in his pocket and use a wired lav? There’s more danger with the 5G towers all around him than a little mic transmitter.
@@CaliforniaPhantom I'm gonna be very clear, I do not agree with him. I'm just telling you what *HE* thinks. The sun is far more dangerous than all the man made radio device combined.
You should make a channel about your search for the perfect camera. That would be cool.
Vivo X70 Pro with Zeiss give me awesome look with stabilized footage for $430
Great job on the video Kasey! Thanks for making it.
Recorded before the pocket 3 was announced I assume?
You are too funny!
I love the GHAlex LUT for LUMIX footage. The facial reds are transformed into Arri Alexa bliss.
Where does Fuji X-T5 fit in your expectations from manufacturers? It can do both video and stills and you get that Fuji color and decent dynamic range.
Where is DJI Pocket 3 video?? :D
Funny and entertaining as always! Asking for advice here, after watching 100s of YT videos and still not sure: I own a G9 and way too many MFT lenses (zooms and primes). I consider upgrading to the G9 ii. However, for that money, I could also afford the A6700 plus a couple of lenses if I sell my MFT gear completely. I'm mainly into photography, but I also make short travel videos when on vacation. Since I do a lot of hiking, weight is an issue. So for FF, while bodies are ok, I consider the lenses getting too big and too expensive (I would like to have at least a 70-200). So, stick with Panny Pony or jump on the Sony APSC train, with inferior screen, single card slot, worse IBIS, but more background blur and best-in-class AF
You know the answer is to upgrade to the G9 II. The G9 II is better than what you have in every way. The Sony will be slightly better in one or two ways and noticably inferior in most others.
Go for the G9II. It's insane. However due to overpriced lens I'm only keeping two lens on it, PanLeica 200/2.8 and OM 90/3.5 and switching tu fuji on both wider and more telezoom lens. Overalluvh more value for money. Just take those Viltrox 27 & 75 at 1.2 Pro lens. They cost under €500 and you can't even compare the PanLeica 42,5 with those, costing around €2000. Sony is also good internally but their grip and ergonomics are go horrible I always thought people designed it in an office and never actually held one in their hands. Plus 40MP sensor on Fuji APSC is awesome for wildlife as well as cropping for wider lens so definitely a no brainer over other APSC and FF for me. 😁
If they could combine the FX3/FX30 image into a camcorder body akin to the old DCR-PC10 / PC100 or even the HC56 I would be so stoked. 16-70 ish zoom range - no 18x zoom. Don’t need it. Need a wide and a decent portrait focal length. Give it IR for nostalgia sake and Bigfoot/ghost hunting… oh yeah. Now we’re taking.
I'd love to hear what your perfect film camera is. Minolta TC-1?
Try to test the new Xperia phones ( xperia 1 mk V, or 5 mk V) if you can get hands on one, they are quite expensive, they have 4k up to 120fps with s-cinetone, the manual controls can help you get the 180 degree shutter and you can stick a variable nd and get the cinema look and movement, skin colors look ok, however, i recommend you test it first. They do have Venice CS also in 21:9 aspect with fixed exposure though but that can be useful in studio setting , talking head scenario in your case.
No crazy super slow motion 960p , which is odd because they were the ones who invented it.
There are plans for an IDOLCAM version 2. 👍
What are your thoughts on the new Panasonic G100 Mark ii rumours?
Canon color science is #1
Since me and you and a couple of other people are the only people that actually bought an X3000, I don’t see Sony releasing an x4000 anytime soon. The closest you are going to get is a RX0 on a gimbal. Or a ZV1 on a gimbal, but you don’t like gimbals. The perfect camera is owing 5 or 6 different cameras. By the way, if you are going to use an Elvis mic, you need a short tabletop stand so that it stands straight up, instead of the bottom shooting off in a 45 degree angle. Looks weird that way. Love the Elvis mic, best looking mic that is still made.
blame red for lack of raw some how the have managed to patent that.
Since 3D pop is important to you, you might want to consider trying the next 3D phone that comes out.
The past attempts at 3D phones were underwhelming, but the modern iterations of 3D displays are close to being the real deal.
Nobody is interested in that or it would have been good 20 years ago
@@frostgodx Leia's Lume Pad 2 might be a sign of what's to come for phones. 🙂 3D video calling is something people will want.
I can see right away - 3d pop
Your hair was purple the whole time. I'm glad we found out why when you turned off the light.
12 bit 444 colour, greater dynamic range. Global shutter. SDI out. Don't need 100 different options of file capture, 8 bit, 420, HD, less option, best quality.
The camera with the specs you described is coming out in 2035. Except for body orientation and 3.5mm mic jack which will be replaced by USB-C and proprietary digital hot-shoes by 2030. Good prediction. Keep it up.
G9ii bee video was awesome..closes thing to perfect camera you had...😢
Please don't vivo my mom, sir. 😂
The ultimate vlog experience could be yours with the Pocket 3. Don't quote me, but I believe the mics only use Bluetooth to establish a connection. Past that, they operate with Wi-Fi... frequencies none of us can avoid. I bet you don't even use a microwave though
Well, I saw somebody on youtube show a real quality high speed camera which was the Freefly Ember S5K. You're still looking for consumer cameras but have professional requirements sometimes.
From here the 640 ISO looked softer, and I didn't notice the banding at 10K
This is Casey saying "F** this camera industries, how many items should I buy and install in my gear".
Zeiss is with Sony Xperia. Xiaomi is with Leica. Oppo is using Hasselblad color calibration.
The perfect camera only exists in the minds of those who'd want to create it out unconditional creativity, and love, not greed.
Have you tried any vlogging drones? Just seen a vid on the Hover Air X1 - would be fun seeing you give something like this a test run.
The Perfect Landscape Camera:

The Perfect Street camera:

The Perfect Travel camera:
The Mamiya 6 / Hasselblad SWC
The Perfect Forever camera:

Wow what’s with the chromatic aberration in your shot?
The Pocket 3 is what you seek
I had once a flip phone with camcorder mode by another twist and 3x optical zoom and 3,2MP sensor, the Nokia N93. Fat thing, but pretty nice compared to other phone cameras these days.
Sounds like the Osmo Pocket 3
Funny - I still have the Sony 3,000 - too
The GX8, from a long time ago, had a great form factor. But it is doubtful that you'll ever get the performance of which you speak in such a small size. The technology is not there.
Funny - I still like my Sony NEX 5r - 70-210 lens
i want sony gfx senor 2000 mp stacked with rf mounted with av1 recording 12-bit video ultra-log with Canon's Dual Gain Output Image like canon cinema cameras with 10-5 latency for 16k recording 24p/60p option and 4k 480fps or 1080p 2000fps with pre buffer shooting and weight of like less than 1 kilo and 50% smaller files sizes than EVERYONE and easier files to edit on any pc
I was going to ask what happened to the DJI rep and you looking at the pocket 3, but without even looking I'm sure that has probably already been mentioned many times. Instead, my question is, did you dye your hair with drug store off the shelf black, or is it looking purplish from the "backlitten" situation you have going on?
I almost got an s5ii 😂, but then matti haapoja review and his lips were way too pink
Please Sony, 8k 60P! Pretty please!
fujifilm h2s is perfect enough for me when i buy in the future
The Osmo Pocket 3 is the perfect camera. It also has the ability to clip to your backpack like how you want it.
Can you put the headphones you use in your affiliate links please? I remember you talked about them in one video, but i can't remember which video. I want to get away from wireless. thanks
Earbuds amzn.to/462iCEN
Headphones amzn.to/46WwJMC
All I want is:
- flip up selfie screen (not swivel out)
- PDAF (at least Nikon quality)
- a few reasonable mid to wide primes
- compact (a7C size or less)
- nice image out of camera (at least Nikon quality)
- a few Fn buttons (at least ISO, WB, quick menu)
- not $2.5k
Basically I want a modern Canon M6II or the Nikon Z30 with more lenses and a better screen mechanism. 😂
Hello Casey, I got a serious question. I am having trouble picking my next video centric camera. I was thinking of leaving canon for they suck at video specs and I am looking for my next APSC or m3/4s camera. You think I should buy a used gh6? I don’t mind the autofocus problems or should I get the Fuji xs20? My total budget is $2000 I can’t spend more on that. The xs20 goes to $1800 once I add the accessories needed.
A7Siii if they just gave it focus breathing compensation
Z9 is already the perfect camera.
If you believe the "access media" on RUclips the Pocket 3 is the best thing of all time (until the next best thing of all time).
Has Mr Bloom sent you one of his new filters?
Why not the DJI Pocket 3 creator kit at least being close enough?
DJI pocket 3 seems to cover alot of what you mentioned
how about the new OSMO Pocket 3?
Those calling for Santa Elf to review (insert latest new toy of the day) have the perfect camera on them. Less time shooting off here and shoot out there. No cinema can be found in the comment section.
I keep telling you. Get the Nothing Phone 2. It has 480 frames 1080p
We’ve been told (by marketing) that we need a full frame camera and sensor, yet look at micro four thirds GH6 or the iPhone. Not only does iPhone 15 Pro max have great video, have you heard the audio? It’s really good and rivals external microphones. On a budget, that’s all you need and you have to have a phone anyway.
Too bad wind exists, ruining any in phone audio.
Who else came for the pocket 3 comments?
DJI Pocket 3?
Nikon Z8?
There's another song title for you: "Don't Exaggerate Mah Zits" 3:38
What is with the Nikon monkey?

Woo hoo!
Hey Kasey, wanna play around with some LOG ProRes 10 bit footage from an iPhone 15 Pro Max? Bought myself one a week ago, tell me what to film, and I'll send you the clips.
LUMIX s5 iix + ZV-E1 🤔
Hey, there's a camera for you... it's the DJI POCKET 3 hahaha
iPhone 15 pro is not 4K30 max in log. You can record 4K60 to an SSD or a thumb drive in native app in ProRes or internally as any flavour or ProRes or h265/264 in Blackmagic App.
So 4k 30p in log internally in native app like I said.
@@cameraconspiracies perhaps it’s what you meant. It’s not what you said though.
@@LiveMyJourneyTom Point is all the high framerates are crippled without log if you're just using the phone as is. You need external recording or a 3rd party app to get 4k 60p, which isn't even a competitive spec today with everyone doing 4k 120p. And there's no option for log in HD 240p.
@@cameraconspiracies honestly I see little point using the native camera app anyway. The only thing I use it for is the hyper smooth dynamic mode 2.8K shots. Everything else works better in the Blackmagic app. Where you can set the exposures and lock it without having to lock the af at the same time.
This year they allowed you to lock white balance on recording. Maybe next year they’ll let you lock exposure too? Sure I would like to have 4K120 in log if possible. But for today phone standards the 4K60 in log shot on any of the four cameras is pretty game changing to me. The main camera looks so good in both 24mm and 48mm modes 😍 Blackmagic is a free app so not a dealbreaker in any way.
@@LiveMyJourneyTom It's probably a great setup. Usually 3rd party apps have much worse AF and stabe, but I guess blackmagic did good and there's no downsides to using it.
I’m hoping the Cinema Camera 6k FF gets some light on this channel 😅
Hi there, for a foto centric loser which 35mm f 1.4 / 2 (Fuji xt4) would be the perfect one avoiding to sell a kidney? Cheers
The perfect camera is full frame stabilized and capable of over 120 FPS 8k. For me
well, the Sony Burano can do 8k30 and 4k120 full frame... still far away from 8k120 but at least those specs will trickle down, I think
@@koma2000music I ended up getting the Canon R5C. Although I went overboard on accessories. Put myself in a little debt lol
More like that perfect tan line 😂 and one plus 11 5G
No mention of Sony ZV-E1?!
The perfect Camera would be and DSLR and have a 60 x 90 mm Stacked BSI Sensor with 450mp that could shoot 10FPS mechanical or 30 fps electronic, 8k un cropped at 120p or 1080 FHD AT 980p. 4k up to 460p. A reasonable array of fast AF IS Primes and an 16-600mm f2.8 Zoom.
Yes. But what is the perfect snare drum 🥁
Define "perfect", then define camera?
I don't think the shotgun Mic would work. It may be a little too large
What's going on with the purple hair?
did they not send you the pocket 3 5555
also there's a mist filter for it , I know you won't be able to cope lol
Funny - you need the RED camera
