Love Ace. His tough life has made him the most honest of all the four. He puts that shit out there just like it is. Love you brother. Don't change nothing else. Rock Soldiers.
@john smith Ace has been sober for years now.. Say what you want about him but give him that. He has worked hard and finally got sober. And you can see it in his music. Anomaly was his best work since his solo album from the 70s
@@PipenFalzyThat's true to a certain degree, moreso in the early 80s. But he was the most talented musician out of all of them even as a drunk. He wrote some of their best songs in the early going ( Cold Gin, Parasite, Getaway, Rocket Ride) and his guitar licks were what made songs like Deuce and Detroit Rock City stand out. His solo album was the best. Not bad for a lazy alcoholic. Ace is the first one to admit he was lazy. It's a shame because he didnt really evolve as a guitarist as well as he could have. He got by on his natural ability and rode it for 30 years. I think Anomaly was the first album where he actually progressed as a musician since the late 70s.

I just started listening to it . Great album.! way better than the rest. I ll say this for him. He might be have the worlds biggest drug addict but the damn junkie knew how to write a song!
Simple reason. Ace was the ONLY one interested in doing a solo album; the rest of the band did not want to do them. It was an attempt by management to keep the band together because Ace kept threatening to leave. So... Ace was the one who actually took some effort in his album, so he put in the most effort. And therein tells the tragic story of Ace. Massive potential when he applies himself; unfortunately he pissed it all away on drugs and alcohol.
Rock the Stage NYC yup....by May '78, when they were filming that tv-movie that they are so proud of today, they were seriously not getting along & on the brink of breaking up...so, yeah that's where the idea of the solo albums came into play
Interesting..thanks for the info. Ace has the best overall feel. That being said, I also liked some of Paul's "Tonight", "Move On" not bad songs. My favorite of Gene's (the best selling) is "Man of 1,000 faces" which is a great tune. Peter's well... I liked it as a kid, but now as an adult, I just see it is sort of not so good let's say.
Ace is the only true rock star in Kiss, he did it for the right reasons and has a heart of gold. He has influenced so many people to pick up a guitar and follow his dream. Ace's solo album was by far the best, nothing can ever take that away from him. Most importantly Ace knew when to stop being in Kiss, obviously Gene and Paul do not.
Yeah..I do agree with you all the way,.. its how I see it too ,..being a Kiss fan from the beginning... Ace is the true rocker,...Gene and Paul are just businessmen,..and Peter is an original its all about alchemy...but Kiss would never have existed without those four...
I actually like Ace and am an old KISS fan, so it is apparently you who needs to get over your defensiveness. You didn't dispute the objective truth, especially that he didn't do it for "the right reasons". Getting loaded and laid isn't really the right reasons, or what dignity looks like. Like I said, I like Ace, but he's never been a good songwriter. He has a couple good tunes under his belt but pales in comparison to what Gene and Paul did as songwriters. He can't sing, and for what limited style he had, it's all gone and his mechanics are putrid. Look, when I was 14 I learned every Ace solo inside and out. It was cool, and I still like it, but dancing pentatonic licks isn't virtuoso stuff. So, no, he's not better than 99.99% of them out there at his instrument. Tag off the fan goggles and just be real about it.
Dylan Neuens more people know the name ace frehley than say joe satriani though unless you are a guitar player. Those guys are musicians ace is an entertainer and his playing made kiss
I'll always be an Ace fan. As a young musician playing and learning by ear I learned a lot from Ace. Don't really care about the rest of story. ACE ACE ACE. thanx for the lesons.
I emailed Peter Criss and asked him if he would sign my CD of Let Me Rock You. He said to mail it with a return envelope with prepaid postage, He REFUSED to let me pay him. Hell, he even sent me a free vinyl copy of his new album (at the time) called One For All. Now that's a class act. Gene or Paul would rather shit on a fan than throw one a bone.
Ace's lack of cognitive awareness is decades of heavy alcoholic abuse and other drugs. Still clear enough to understand, unlike a lot of musicians, after 40+ years. The original members of KISS are the ones who earned the honor. Ace is finally sober and Paul is still a chump.
Ace might be more sober than he was, but the wagon is still shaky sometimes. And Paul is a chump because he’s the only guy who ever became a rockstar so he could become a businessman. He’s completely derogatory toward everyone’s musical abilities except his own (which are nearly non existent) and he’s just bitter that he’s fronting something that’s not much more than a fucking cover band at this point
Ace is cool. I just like the way he is. I like the way he is doing his thing regardless of whatever else is going on. And the way he is sober now, it makes me happy. I'm gonna buy the follow-up book to No Regrets.

September 8, 1976 KISS with special guest Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. The Destroyer Tour. I was there.....Louisville, Kentucky. Oh what a night! What a fantastic show and not to mention my first concert. And that was back when concerts were fun! A funny smell permeated the arena. I was hooked on KISS and still a fan. Glad they finally were inducted into the Rock of Roll Hall of Fame.
Ace is the greatest rock and roll guitarist period. His riffs are everywhere in the 80's hair bands. Without Ace, Gene would be a retired 6th grade school teacher and Paul would be training Cab Drivers in India. simply put, no Ace, No Kiss
vincent gregorits You do realize that half the riffs you hear everywhere Ace didn't actually play right? From "Destroyer" forward Ace barely played on the albums.
I admire your admiration for Ace and affection for his playing (I share it myself), and you make a very valid point about his influence on '80's (and beyond) guitar players. But I would have stopped short of the predicted fates for Gene and Paul. Their musical bond had been formed before Peter and Ace, they were singing harmonies and had written many great songs already. I think Ace needed them more than they needed him, but that is largely debatable. At the very least, Gene would have attained riches one way or another, since that's all he's ever cared about (maybe selling diamonds on 42nd street), and Paul would have surfaced in music somewhere, with all of his talent and drive. Ace and Peter could easily have fallen off the map without Gene and Paul, with their affection for getting wasted all the time (which I also share). ;)
Space Ace is a big reason why I started playing guitar and had an interest in sci-fi, the occult, & paranormal brain activity as a very young child. Man, I miss that 3D View Master. People should know thy truth. Cheers lads & laddies!
The guys in KISS, the original members, are PEOPLE, almost as weird and nutty as the people I know. I love em all. They've done more to make me happy over the years than they haven't.
clintbronson5 Ace is respected by genuine KISS fans but most importantly his peers.People like Slash, Rob Zombie, Billy Duffy (the Cult) DimeBag Darell etc Thousands of guitarists picked up the guitar because of Ace. Les Paul himself said that if it was between Ace and Jimmy Page, Ace wins hand down in regards to sales of Gibson Les Paul's.People consider Jimmy Page (I'm a Pagey fan) too elite/brilliant an artist, BUT, they would listen to Ace Frehley and want to play guitar.
Love ya Ace, but Peter is my favorite and you and him both got a huge applause 👏!!!! Catman was amazing and fantastic as well!!! And don't forget it!!!
Paul's new book is the best from all four members by far, all KISS fans should read it cover-to-cover. And there are some great laughs in it, as in tears streaming-down-your-face, can-barely-breathe hilarity.
Jimmy Stinky Interesting. Where was the dismissal? Paul made it clear to Eric that no matter what, his position in KISS was secure, which is what Eric cared about most. Remember, it's almost impossible to handle a situation like that perfectly, and hindsight is always 20/20, which Paul makes clear at the end of that chapter.
Black Death 1347 I had high hopes on Paul's book. I read Gene's, Peter's and Ace's, and Paul's book was just as bad, even worse than Peter's. The others, at least, were funny, but Paul just slams everyone, from his parents, to almost all the band members, and managers, and what have you. For someone who's been in therapy all his life, he really sounds bitter and nasty.
Boomer65 You could also say Ace + Peter = drugs. I'm reading Peters autobiography now and they seemed like a nigtmare to be working with. Paul and Gene aren't perfect either, but it's not like they don't have any talent. I love them all and it's sad reading and hearing about all their bad feelings towards each other.
Isn't it interesting how people just keep on pissing on someone for mistakes they have made in their lives. I don't give a shit what Ace did in the past or even if he isn't sober. Ace was a HUGE influence on guitar players including Dimebag. Wonder what skeletons some of these "critics" have in their closet. Talk shit all you want about Ace, end of the day, you still have to look at yourself in the mirror.
Loudwire theyre doing what all media does these days, Chop one interview into 50 pieces to get more views and monetize yet the second you mention it they say "nuh uh! its because of the 10min youtube time limit!" still love ya loudwire ;)
Ace is way to underrated. His solo album has the song , Fractured Mirror and that song made me want to learn to play guitar almost as bad as Close To The Edge by YES and The Core by Eric Clapton. I used Fractured Mirror as a finger exercise to warm up and get my hands stretched out to play The Core. Ace really had some great licks and great cord progressions and should be recognized for that. Thanks Ace for helping to show me the way to ROCK..
ace thanks for helping me through the teen years with ur guitar playing those Leeds will live on in my soul and ur cool rifs.god bless u ace .when the world bothered me I would put on my head phones and be transmitted to. the soul music I needed to get throue another day.if I could ask any one for guitar Lessons I would ask you brother.like I said ur guitar playing sunk into my soul and helped me in my life and still to this day when I put on old school kiss with u still in the band it always Briggs a smile to my heart and soul thanks brother.
I've always loved Ace the best, when you used to see him on kids shows in the seventies he always seemed the nicest to the kids , I think there's a possibility from some of jealousy because of how popular Ace is.
A true gentleman and professional.. Gene & Paul can said whatever they can make up to bad mouth him, never said once . That there were Happy he healthy wiser sober & in good spirits. Ace keep on rocking..
The thing I like about Ace, he doesn't seem to give a damn about the media or how people view him, he just wants to play. He really looks like he doesn't give a flying fuck on how he's being perceived, either by Gene and Paul or by the world in general. So all of you wiseguys here posting negative comments about him-don't think you gonna get anywhere with them when it comes to Ace, for he sure ain't gonna read them! He got better things to do. But here's a fact for you: Ace was for many people the very reason they got into Kiss. I know for a fact that several famous rock musicians say Ace is their favorite Kiss member, one even said he was only interested in Kiss because of Ace. So, there you go. I think Paul and Gene were and still are trying to deny him his credit, I remember Gene even said that he couldn't be called a songwriter just because he wrote some songs for Kiss (meaning Ace). They are just being greedy and selfish and egomaniacs. Yes, Paul did write many hits for the band and is the lead singer but he doesn't need to act as if this is all his and Gene's thing and that Ace and Peter were just hired guns, replaceable.
Totaly agree with you on many points. I'm from the UK and kiss were seen as a bit of a joke, but I was always fascinated me and made me a fan from hotter than hell through to his departure. Ace and Peter were the rock and roll credibility of the band where as gene and Paul are now fronting a hideous, lame, second rate tribute band. Can't wait to see how Space invader does in the bill board. Rock on Ace!
hotprofdude I agree that substance abuse rocked their talents at the time, but as a kid I was completely unaware of that. It was the sound of the four of them that was unique, drugs or not, that sound has gone now. Just saying.

Yeah, lets ignore the fact that he said that he's gonna write another book. (6:10) and it's going to be a little more juicy! That's the guy who's ignoring all the publicity. He's not in it for the money. Nah!
Frank Patek Didn't say he was ignoring the publicity. Of course he wants to get something out of it all. But did it ever occur to you that he's writing a new book because he thinks he was too harsh in the first book to Paul and Gene?
Ace is by far the best member of kiss. Did u read his book? Pure gold. He talks about all the good and bad in his life. And he doesn't care. That's y the title is no regrets
These guys pulled of something in the 70s that no one else could. Period. You can't pass judgement on how any one of them handled anything because you weren't there. No matter how big of a fan you are , YOU weren't there. I am just sooo happy that they did what they did and influenced countless musicians including myself.
ummmm you have that mixed up. Tommy was a studio musician for many years and fill in, who re-taught both Peter and Ace how to play early KISS Songs. Tommy is a well rounded Musician while Ace is a loose, carefree, wild, rock and roll mainly lead guitar player.
Having seen him four times, I don't think TT is even in the same league as Bruce Kulick, let alone Ace. The guy is an average guitar player, who plays KISS songs exactly, note for note. But he has no charisma and rockstar attitude. He might be a great guy, and a good team worker, but he always looks like he's afraid to get out of character, because then P&G would get all bent out of shape. It's like watching Robot-Ace - and it gets boring after a while. And with KISS playing always the same songs, it doesn't help. Of course Paul praises him - he does what he's told. Bruce also wasn't really flamboyant on stage, but at least he was a GREAT musician and guitar player. And he helped shape 80s KISS.
The callous s and carpal tunnel keeping up from working with and for sort of kiss early days..vocal chords and performing wow..hard work hard play..ty all so much
He's right about the boycotting kiss shows but i believe its for a different reason, i saw kiss back in 09' and there was over 40,000 people.... last year i saw them again and there was less than 8,000. i think the main problem here is that although they are in my opinion a fantastic rock band that changed the industry, they have dragged it on way too long and the magic has died.
I never said anything about facts, I clearly state this is opinion from my own first hand experiences, I guess they are more popular in different places still but the general consensus that I've taken (keep in my kiss has been my favourite band since i was 6) is that they have lost momentum because of dragging it on too long. Don't put the word "facts" in quotations unless you're quoting something I actually said.... maybe proof read before you throw rebuttals out for next time. Lastly, they were named the band with the most gold records thats all fine and dandy. Jesus rose from the dead 2,000 years ago... we aren't talking about the past, we are talking about the loss of momentum from the days they got gold records.
+Nomorefail Productions agree 100% with you, Kiss was a legendary band but with so many lineup changes besides Gene/Paul, the magic is definitely dead.. and that is not a bad thing to be honest because they don't have to prove anything else.. I do think Ace continues to have an amazing comeback though with his solo work.. 2 albums in the past two years.. RIP Eric Carr..
For me, Gene and Paul's exploiting KISS' legacy by trashing Ace and Peter but using their clones has made KISS one of the most bizarre stories in rock history. It's like Phantom of the Park 2!
***** Some would say smart, others would say shills. Some would say Ace and Peter were addicts and lazy, others would say "rock star life of excess" and emotional people. Believe what you like. Everyone knows classic KISS is best.
the way Gene and Paul treated Ace and Peter during the reunion, paying them peanuts, as hired hands and sometimes less then the imposters is outrageous.
***** you obviously have something out for ace. you comment one everyones posts making it clear you hate him and that hes a bitter old man (as you keep saying) if you hate him that much, then fuck off, stop posting and go on about your day fucking troll.
***** i don't see bitter here. i see a happy, funny person. i don't see any reason why you need to reiterate all the negative things about ace. i get it. he is a fuckup and everything else. he will still be my favorite member bar none. i don't cling to him. bitter? listen to paul lately. that's way beyond bitter.
One thing I love about Ace is...he's a Russ Ballard fan like me. He used a couple of Russ's songs over the years. "New York Groove" and "Into The Night"
"I didn't get a chance to see any of the former members or current members, I just interacted with Paul, and Gene, and Peter" Kids, here's a prime example of why you should not drink and do drugs!
I don't have to boycott. My mind was already made up after having seen the original line-up 3 times within a 2 year period. For me to see them now would be a downgrade.
Love Ace. His tough life has made him the most honest of all the four. He puts that shit out there just like it is. Love you brother. Don't change nothing else. Rock Soldiers.

The reason I like Ace ... he admits he has problems and is far from perfect. You don’t hear that from the other members of KISS.

Ace is the greatest rock and roll guitarist period. His riffs are everywhere in the 80's hair bands. Without Ace, Gene would be a retired 6th grade school teacher and Paul would be training Cab Drivers in India. simply put, no Ace, No Kiss
Fuckin eh!
Greatest?? Please.
vincent gregorits You do realize that half the riffs you hear everywhere Ace didn't actually play right?
Ace and Peter could easily have fallen off the map without Gene and Paul, with their affection for getting wasted all the time (which I also share). ;)
Best in rock? You might want to rethink that one.
I think Ace is hammered in this interview.
I agree. He also had a hard time standing up during the ceremony.
wow, 2014 and ace is the sane one?
just goes to show ya,
things change
haha...great point.
exactly...
Cant wait for the new Ace Frehley covers album coming out soon
Space Ace is a big reason why I started playing guitar and had an interest in sci-fi, the occult, & paranormal brain activity as a very young child. Man, I miss that 3D View Master. People should know thy truth. Cheers lads & laddies!
The guys in KISS, the original members, are PEOPLE, almost as weird and nutty as the people I know. I love em all. They've done more to make me happy over the years than they haven't.
Read all the comments and to the Ace haters.....He did get the loudest applause at the R N R H O F! nuff said
clintbronson5 Ace is respected by genuine KISS fans but most importantly his peers.People like Slash, Rob Zombie, Billy Duffy (the Cult) DimeBag Darell etc Thousands of guitarists picked up the guitar because of Ace.
That band built their legacy on Ace!! Paul was the frontman but Ace was the backbone.
I'm with Ace, I think it's a great honour to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
ACE , often imitated never duplicated.
Ace definitely has his own sound, just like every musician. His contribution to the KISS legacy. His song like 2000 man still sound great.
Let's NOT get involved in "PAULITICS"
Haaaa. Haaaa.... Yeah I saw Paul's plug for his book to. Well said.
Paul's new book is the best from all four members by far, all KISS fans should read it cover-to-cover. And there are some great laughs in it, as in tears streaming-down-your-face, can-barely-breathe hilarity.
Black Death 1347 Not exactly, the tears disappear when he dismisses Eric Carr
I was able to see Ace's '74-'75 onstage outfit at the Hardrock Cafe in Atlantic City, sweat stains and all, some 15 years ago. I was in awe...
Ace & Peter = Genuine, Gene & Paul = $$$$$$
its always about money , thats why peter got dropped after the fairwell tour, he thought the band couldn'tgo forward wothout him..
I'll have to check that read out.
Boomer65 It's an interesting book;)
Thanks, I'm reading Slash's bio at the moment...woa!
Well. Been a longtime, I listened to Kiss& all solo albums. God Bless Us & Music.
Fuckin eh!
AMEN
YESS!!
CptKrunch yes we all need to look at our own bs without question ace is a good guitar player so hey that means something
Ace is an incredible guy, and always be the one and only space man!
wish it was a longer interview..
We've got more stuff with Ace coming soon!
Loudwire theyre doing what all media does these days, Chop one interview into 50 pieces to get more views and monetize yet the second you mention it they say "nuh uh! its because of the 10min youtube time limit!" still love ya loudwire ;)
BattleRapBlog WRONG! Good guess though.
+Loudwire Good length for the interviews. I see a 30 minute video and I ain't watching it. Five, six minute bites are perfect.
+Walter Mirren You should check Guthrie Govan´s 30 min interview. Good Stuff
He's incredible and sounds great . Kiss isn't Kiss without him n Peter .
I did however see original KISS when they put makeup back on, ACE rocked that place and him and Peter were spot on!
gene seemed emotional,peter seemed pissed
pauls head trip seems to be getting worse
ace seems to be the only one whos on the right track
go figure
ace thanks for helping me through the teen years with ur guitar playing those Leeds will live on in my soul and ur cool rifs.god bless u ace .when the world bothered me I would put on my head phones and be transmitted to. the soul music I needed to get throue another day.if I could ask any one for guitar Lessons I would ask you brother.like I said ur guitar playing sunk into my soul and helped me in my life and still to this day when I put on old school kiss with u still in the band it always Briggs a smile to my heart and soul thanks brother.
Thi man was my superhero...love him him dearly...
Ace your solo album killed it!
I've always loved Ace the best, when you used to see him on kids shows in the seventies he always seemed the nicest to the kids , I think there's a possibility from some of jealousy because of how popular Ace is.
Like him or not there’s only one Ace and his sound is undeniably awesome he is a rock soldier 🤘🏻
Iron Maiden get inspiration on Ace Frehley for their song: ""Ace´s High"".
Lol. First like. Needs more
What?
@@GIGI-lp1gc chill out, man. That was a joke.
G m It’s clearly a joke dipshit
🤣😂🤣😂

"I took a water pill to slim down" That day.
Wow...
These guys pulled of something in the 70s that no one else could. Period. You can't pass judgement on how any one of them handled anything because you weren't there. No matter how big of a fan you are , YOU weren't there. I am just sooo happy that they did what they did and influenced countless musicians including myself.
GIVE THIS A YEAR TO SIMMER, AND THE MAKE-UP WILL GO BACK ON AND ACE & ALL THE BOYS FROM KISS'S PAST, PRESENT, & FUTURE WILL BE UP ON STAGE TOGETHER!

Six years later.... Stick to your day job..... Forget predictions......
Remind me never to hire you as my psychic council! LMFAO!!😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂
I just feel that Ace is the most down to earth and easygoing about the whole phenomenon that was Kiss. This video re-confirms this to me.
I love Ace's laugh!
Thanks for this, and Thanks, Ace, for teaching us kids from 70's how to play guitar with some solid instruction in those KISS songs!
Long live Space-Ace Frehley!
Tommy Thayer may be a great player, but Ace Frehley is a great musician.
ummmm
you have that mixed up.
But Thayer isn't such a "great guy" either, according to Peter & Ace. Just a teacher's pet to Gene & Paul, i.e., bitch.
Agree, Thayer can't even nailed Bruce's solo work
...and Vinnie Vincent was the best.
I would have never picked up the guitar had it not been for "Ace Frehley on Lead Guitar". God Bless you Ace 😇😇.
"I had taken a water pill earlier that day to slim down and I was feeling faint".....
LMAO
RIP Eric Carr..
you can only reheat old food so many times , if at all
I just saw them two weeks ago at Golden 1 in sac and it was sold out. And it honestly wasn’t a very good show.
he is an immortal Rock God the more I watch his interviews and everything that he does he is kiss... Because of him rock and roll is what it is today
0:49 Did he just make a pig noise?
lmaooooo goddamn reptilians cloned Ace right in front of our noses.
😭
Great to hear Ace here, and his mind is still sharp to respond Very quickly to the interviewer questions. Looks like his high IQ still holds.
Ace is probably my favorite Kiss alumni
ace frehley and kiss are still # 1 today they will always be number 1
Ace is easily the most talented player in the history of KISS.
Not, totally true!!!@ Peter was amazing and very great in his prime!!!!
Ace is probably most down to earth and truthful member if KISS , well him and Peter.
He always gets the most applause
Ace is the man.......
Great song writer and singer.....
He wrote and sang some if the best kiss tunes.....
Ace is THE MAN!!! Killer jacket Ace!!! Classy yet casual. Where can I get one?
Thanks for the great music, Ace. Shock Me is still my favorite Kiss song. It's the most "real" of all of them!
Everyone knows classic KISS is best.
the way Gene and Paul treated Ace and Peter during the reunion, paying them peanuts, as hired hands and sometimes less then the imposters is outrageous.
ace will always be my favorite KISSer!
Ace is my fave KISSer too. noypi ka ba joel?
Yep.
nasa pinas ka ba joel o nasa US? bihira ang kilala kong pinoy na kiss fans ah.
2021 space ace is still alive. Thank you God.
Did he say politics or paul-a-tics at 3:57? Umm!! Ace rocks man!
One thing I love about Ace is...he's a Russ Ballard fan like me. He used a couple of Russ's songs over the years. "New York Groove" and "Into The Night"
"I didn't get a chance to see any of the former members or current members, I just interacted with Paul, and Gene, and Peter"
Kids, here's a prime example of why you should not drink and do drugs!
He meant Tommy and Eric lmfao.
I saw the original 4 members in 1996 and the show was amazing!!!
I don't have to boycott. My mind was already made up after having seen the original line-up 3 times within a 2 year period. For me to see them now would be a downgrade.
Great interview, thanks Loudwire!
