  • If you've field stripped your SUB-2000 and can't get the bolt back in during reassembly, it's possible you accidentally dropped the hammer at some point. This video will explain how to fix that so you can reassemble your SUB-2000. This will also work on the GEN1 SUB-2000.

    I didn't pull the trigger but still couldn't get my bolt back in. With the help of this video I figured I had to use a flat head screwdriver to push the hammer down a bit as I slid the bolt forward. For whatever reason, even in the cocked position the hammer stuck up just enough to catch the bolt sliding forward. Kind of a pain, but pretty easy once I figured what the problem was.

    Thanks for the videos, they are well made and address many facets of owning a KelTec firearm. I have a slightly different problem. I have difficulty putting the bolt back after cleaning. I followed the procedure in your SUB2000 cleaning video. The hammer seems a little high and won't let the bolt in all the way. I need to press it down a bit to allow the bolt back in properly. Is that normal? Thanks!

    • @GothicSoldier9000
      @GothicSoldier9000 2 года назад +1

      From what I've read, that's normal. While you're putting the bolt assembly back in, push down on the hammer until the bolt moves past it. Complete the reassembly and run the bolt a couple times to smooth it out.

      It would be easier/less difficult to look for the M&P 9mm version then buy the mag catch replacement for the Sig226 from the KelTec site ($10+s/h?). They call it the Multi-mag version because that's the only difference for the non-Glock version...the mag catch. Good luck!

      Riley Nash I got the .40 cal sub 2000 and it's junk. It came with a 13 round Glock mag and it jammed twice the first load on mag and three times on the second load on mag. It seems the more I shoot it the more it jamms. I will sell it to the first available dummy that can legally buy it. Oh and when it breaks in half and locks the barrel to the but stock it now wiggles side to side.

  • @Liberty4Ever
    @Liberty4Ever 8 лет назад +2

    Once again, Chad is THE MAN! Thank you, sir! I was going to make this very video! Now I don't need to. Customers call and ask me this about once a month and it takes 3-40 minutes (depending on their mechanical aptitude and the phase of the moon) to talk them through it. Actually, the busier I am, the longer it seems to take. :-)
    It's a lot easier to see the hammer with the enlarged ejection port on the Gen 2. I usually recommend a 3/8" wooden dowel or even the handle of a wooden spoon if you can sneak one out of the kitchen without da wife catching you. The hard steel screwdriver on the hard steel hammer can slip off easily. Be careful the screwdriver doesn't slip and break off the ejector (black molded fin on the left inside of the receiver). I've done this job with a ball point pen at a gun show.
    I was also going to make a video demonstrating how to ease the bolt over the cocked hammer on a new SUB-2000. Reassembly can be difficult before the bolt and hammer wear in together after approximately 500 rounds. The symptom is very similar to dropping the hammer while the bolt is removed. This seems to be less of a problem on the Gen 2 based on the calls I'm not getting.
    Speaking of pulling the trigger... I'm about to pull the trigger on a Kel-Tec RDB purchase, and I still haven't shot my KSG or CMR-30 yet! Three new Kel-Tecs! That's going to be a fun day at the range! I'm cuckoo for Kel-Tec.

    • @NLINE7
      @NLINE7 6 лет назад +1

      Liberty4Ever I agree on the part about the new gun as far as the bolt/hammer not going down completely, I had to watch Chad's video because my hammer was in the up position, so I used a wooden dowel rod to push it back down, although I heard the click of the hammer, my bolt still would not go through unless I pressed down on the hammer while easing the bolt carrier forward. I'm hoping this will wear down somewhat over time because that is a slight pain in the ass. My Sub 2000 is new, I have not shot it yet,just got it yesterday and was cleaning it today when I had the problem with hammer/bolt.

    • @WitchyWagonReal
      @WitchyWagonReal 5 лет назад

      So true... this was a much “bigger” problem with the Gen1 and the smaller ejection port. I mean, it’s not a big deal either way, so long as you know what happened and why, but at least with the large ejection port you can clearly see the issue instantly.

  • @mattvanhugenstein

    I clocked the rifle before disassembly and when I reinsert the bolt the hammer is still up just enough that I have to push it down to let the bolt move over it.

      @mattvanhugenstein 5 лет назад

      @@sigspov9972 thanks for the feedback. mine is just like you say, I can lower the hammer with a finger through the ejection port and I'll see if a break in will change anything. its annoying to me that the hammer isnt seated. let me know if yours fixes itself.

      Yeah, I had to depress the hammer even beyond 'locked' to get the bolt to slide forward enough, then I could reassemble.
      Since then I've taken the entire thing apart, placed the trigger springs, trigger, and trigger guard and become pretty familiar with the inner workings of the Sub 2K. It's got it's quirks, but once you get to know it, it's no big deal.

  • @TomRolfson
