Mate, this series is so massively helpful. Thank you. I'm a relative beginner and have been struggling getting the amen to sound good. After following along on the first video, I then got to the decay/sustain bit and was suddenly like YES! and head bobbing! 🤘Thanks so much for making the vids.
Adjusting the decay and sustain, is exactly like putting a gate on them, often found in channel strips of consoles, but with much finer control. Nice trick. ;)
Cool tutorial ! Only thing I'd disagree with is that the Ableton stock compressor's makeup parameter doesn't really compensate for gain reduction, since it applies makeup gain from the moment you lower the threshold, which is why I'd advise to match the gain by hand, or use a compressor like Fabfilter Pro C which has a proper auto gain
That's good to know! I didn't know that about Ableton's stock compressor. Will experiment with some other compressors, and possibly do a follow-up in a future video. Thanks for the heads up!
Hi Allan, instead of Decay and Sustain (and other controls) i just see Macro 1 , Macro 2, Macros 3 etc , . Tried with Ableton Live lite ... doesn`t it come with this functionality? Thanks
@@gaderson when you map one of the cells to a macro, right click on the parameter again and it should have an option that reads 'map to all siblings' :)
Really one of the best compression tutorials out there. Just being practical and concise.
Loved the term "mini amen"
haha didn't know what else to call it!
i love using super compressed amen breaks every once in a while!

Hey thank you very mutch for all these great informations ! Does your amen from your jungle kit are already proceed with comp and other stuff ?
can you change the decay and sustain in
arrangement view when you haven't used a drum rack?
what did you use? you can lower the transients if it's recorded audio
pls do a part 3
OK working on it!
Add arpeggiator and draw the on off automation onto the midi

Hi Christopher you have to map the control from the sampler to Macro 1 by right-clicking on the decay parameter in the sampler.
Aighhht
@@STRANJAH Is there a way to copy to all sample, I found I had to set macros for every sample?

You got a copy of the break to chop up?
you don't do sidechain?
for what purpose? i do use sidechain for certain practices
you don't do coherent comments ?
