140 when there's a song and around 160 when it's for some more instrumental , faster tempo makes slice & sound manipulations more close to each other as tempo is faster , less time to analyse what is happenig i the music leads to just listen to it as it would be too much infos to analize in a mesure - this momment when music is too complex to be analyzed in real time ...
@@STRANJAH I vaguely remember hearing some tunes with snares that while they arent skull snaps have a reminiscent phatness. Always wondered if it was layering or saturation.
you do not want it to go more mainstream. Look what happened to Dubstep. At least right now if you go to a Jungle night anywhere in the world you're likely to hear bangers.
This is a great video. Not just for breaks but for any audio based rhythmic and melodic chopping. Thanks again! Also I grabbed your Jungle and Liquid packs - 5 ⭐️ for those!
Funny that I was just thinking to myself . How about Stranjah demystifyies the aphrodite signature bass sound. Or the dj ss harmonically rich 808 style bass. Years ago i actually asked Gavin Aphrodite himself ....guess what ?.... he never really told me lol. Just said some vintage gear hmmmm.
Used to love jungle and D&B until I dj'd a mental free party in Sheffield in '98 and someone stole ALL my tunes. I was so sad that I couldn't bring myself to buy jungle or D&B for years (that's how gutted I was). Anyway, Stranjah. I make other music these days, but Just wanted to say wheneber i visit your channel I feel inspired to get back to this music. Your defo one of the best people sharing musical knowledge on here, so big ups man and peace!!
This is exactly the video I was looking for! It just took me 5 years to find it, amazing. Please more vids on these slow UK breaksy numbers, I beg you. Tune sounds v similar to Benton. TOP NOTCH AGAIN STRANJAH.
Quick question...would you download a sample pack in rex2 or wav for Ableton? I’m thinking rex2 would be better from what I’ve read online but I’m not sure and the pack is £30 😂
Great video. So glad you whacked the bpm up at the end as that was all I kept thinking about how it would sound sped up! Sounded best at 160 to me but good at 140 too.
Love the idea with the Spotify playlists mate! Such a good thing for DJ's, Producers and the listeners to have access to. Also, 140bpm sounded sick, 163 needed playing with a little to sound tighter. Big love!
I actually love stuff at this tempo and 90's flavoured Dnb in general, I feel like you can hear a the crustiness of the breaks much more and definitely more into it than the more clinical, non breakbeat stuff. Some of the newer skee mask stuff would definitely come into this category I feel! Cool videos, always inspiring and something for beginners and more seasoned producers! Keep up the good work!
We use to play 1990/91Hardcore in the London clubs at around 140/150 bpm, that transition from 1993-94 was the game changer going into the darker breaks of 155/163 (early Jungle days), i enjoyed the speed up ,so I'm down with both BPM speeds, they work well what you've done. .. Also listen to "2 BAD MICE bomb scare , & hold it down " and not forgetting Champion sound (Great work! and its good to hear that jungle is going back to old sounds and breaks structures)
wicked Tutorial mighty Stranjah. I think this example better at 140, for the 163 you'd have made it better suited in the construction from the outset. big ups man! sharing the knowledge
Also, I’ve made a couple D&B style beats at 128bpm. As long as you are creative with the high hats you can keep it rolling. Different vibe for sure though.
The compilation Speed Limit 140 BPM+ Volume 3 "The Joint" is essential listening for this type of stuff, it was right around this time they were diving into the pitch shifting on the Akai samplers and chopping up a lot of breaks. It's always been a favourite of mine.
What is your favourite BPM to make music in? Also, help this video get 1000 likes! 😀
160 - 168 has some vibes. especially from the likes of fracture, sam binga, chimpo etc
I can't had a favorite bpm, like i can't had a favorite genre :O
156-164. I'm basic *cryface*
160

Nice. !! Fan of you both !
Ricky Tinez on Stranjah video! Two of the RUclips greats in one place! 👌🔥✌️
Fancy meeting you here. :D
I think the 140bpm version is beautiful! Favourite break has to be the Skull Snaps Break. It sounds so evil.
Love Skull Snaps break, so phat that snare. And groovey.
@@STRANJAH I vaguely remember hearing some tunes with snares that while they arent skull snaps have a reminiscent phatness. Always wondered if it was layering or saturation.
@benny2k181 Is that the break from their song It's a New Day?
You make the process of designing a rhythm look so effortless. Loving your videos.
Not going to lie, Shift+Drag to timestretch made my jaw-drop. Can't believe that little nugget passed me by all this time!
Me 5 seconds ago

Had to do it justice with the chopped video!
Fantastic mr Stranjah!!
Ive been looking for this type of music mane, thanks for making a whole playlist!! 140 jungle is crazy

Stranjah your tutorials rule! Thank you so much man!
You're a beast, dude. I really want jungle to go more mainstream than ever! It still sounds futuristic and dope after all these years!!
you do not want it to go more mainstream. Look what happened to Dubstep. At least right now if you go to a Jungle night anywhere in the world you're likely to hear bangers.
These intros are getting better and better!
Just that intro must have taken an hour or so to edit. Hats off man!

Love your videos dude. Nice pace, not too fast and you explain things really well with simple language.
This is a great video. Not just for breaks but for any audio based rhythmic and melodic chopping. Thanks again! Also I grabbed your Jungle and Liquid packs - 5 ⭐️ for those!

Tips on ‘96 style jump up bass creation would be epic
One of the best years!

163 bpm better IMO
Just got your dnb masterclass going to start tomorrow

So much fun to mess with love reverse hits with a added reverb. Jungle is like playing with Legos to me.
Best channel STRANJAH
163 is sick, great job
thank you
amazing tutorial
Hey brother, I heard Amen Fury back in 2013 and had a particular fondness toward it. I had no idea you had such a fun YT channel, I love it !
Thank you so much for sharing you’re knowledge, I’ve learned so much in this video, Big Ups!

Great video. So glad you whacked the bpm up at the end as that was all I kept thinking about how it would sound sped up! Sounded best at 160 to me but good at 140 too.

Bro this was so helpful ! I was bopping my head every time that sick break played haha
You are the Master of Breaks!
