it's cool how just because a veltremite destroyed Allen's entire planet, he doesn't hate Mark for the sole reason of being a veltremite

I love how expressive they were able to make Allen the Alien. Even with one eye, they were able to use his face to communicate so well.
One eye? Two eyebrows. No problem.
Have you seen Wallis and Gromit
The animators need an award after this show🔥
Its because they use his top facial features to function like he has two eyes
Limitations breed creativity.
What is crazy is how Allen’s race was never one that could take on Viltrumites. The amount of training and fighting he had to go through to be able to go toe to toe with one is insane to think about.
Though I'm not a comic reader, from what I've heard Allen actually stood no chance against Omni-man and he was defeated again and again. But every time he was defeated, he came back a lot stronger, eventually even able to overpower a lesser viltrumite such as Mark.
@@Iantha naah in future comics he was going toe toe with some of viltrumites soilders i think he fought against some personal people of king thraggs

Yeah in comics, Viltrumites are able to hold their breath for weeks and they'll probably do that aswell
Sloths can hold their breath up to 40 minutes....
@@SH4D0SKU11 Sloths are not in space normally.
@@funkmantim2661 Space doesn't really have much to do with anything. You could argue it has a LITTLE to do with it because it's so cold and they would need a little more O2 for heat generation, but the true point is that the metabolic processes of the organism is so low in the sloth that they don't require constant O2 intake. What doesn't make any phisiological sense is a viltrumite, which is super strong and super active, requiring absolutely no metabolic compensation to summon so much energy for weeks at a time.
But oh well, comics, I guess.
@@christopherkeys8883 I'm aware he is an alien. But since they have the same anatomy, it stands to reason they have the same physiology. It's just hand waved as comic logic. But in reality, we would very unlikely find life capable of such energy.
There are universal rules to follow. It's why life has not yet been discovered on any other planets. They simply are inhospitable to life. Not just human life, but all life. Because of the universal rules.
Allen was the perfect person to bring in here. Mark's Mom is not exactly approachable about this. Cecil has no clue, his friends have even less of a clue at how Mark feels at this exact moment. But Allen provides exactly what he needs...and alien friend with whom he can vent to and just bounce his ideas off of. Allen provides a bit of perspective that Mark sorely needed at this moment of his life.
Well… there IS 3:57… but yeah.
@@rinkothelad You get the point though. Allen may not get the whole "father" thing, but he serves as the outside looking in on this. Sometimes you need someone to vent to without feeling like you're venting or going over things they already know.
@@Chirpysemperboy Exactly, Allen is the quintessential, bro at the bar, telling you that things are gonna be ok, when you know things are in fact not gonna be ok, but hearing that is strangely comforting anyway :P
Which is strange that his mom is more unapproachable in the series
uhh Amber, duhh. She understands Mark because " She wasnt the only one lied to" . Remember.. Mark lying to her was the same as Mark being lied to by his father. Even the same as beating him half to death, losing his father and hero he looked up to. The emotional and psychological scaring this caused Mark is what Amber says is the same thing she went through with Mark.

Scenes like this is why I prefer this over The Boys
This is a superhero deconstruction by people who LOVE superheroes
I think reconstruction is the word you need.
I love both the same for very different reasons. It's no secret that companies like Disney and Marvel are there to make hella profit under the guise of progressiveness and morality. They make us believe that their products are our friends. So The Boys calls companies out for bullshitting us and shows the corporate greed that really fuels their actions (which is ironic in a sad cynical way, since it's produced by Amazon). Invincible is more like a love letter to superhero stories. It is an adult perspective on the stories we loved as children. It is grounded in real characters with actual motivations and avoids the stereotypical "I am a hero and that is my sole purpose"-thing that The Avengers or The Justice League usually(!) go for. In that regard, Mark is a lot like Peter Parker, who is human first and superhero second. God... it's a great time to love superheroes. :D

I really like how this scene just shows why mark is invincible. After all he had been through he was able to talk without getting emotional, yeah he is affected by all of this, but omni man despite beatin the shit out of him couldn't break his virtues, and in the end it was mark that broke him, omni man has to retire, think again, take his time to know what to do, he's too affected, never knew that emotions could torn him apart, while mark moved on, takin his responsability as a true hero, he's just looking towards the future, to those he loves and needs to protect and he will do whatever it takes, even if means battle his father to death, but he knows that deep in his heart that his dad changed and he is the reason to it
That's true, despite all the beatings he took, it was actually his spirit and his will which was invincible
Seth Rohan’s voice acting is really so good here. At first you think it’ll just be a one-off comic appearance, but he has a lot of depth to him.
If they do any more Allen the alien will be a big part of it and the coalition of planets

As someone who hasn’t watched the series I really like the concept of talking in space through telepathy, it’s so cool :D
Realistically that's the only way to 'talk' since space has no atmosphere to conduct sound. You could use radio waves or other technology to indirectly transmit words but that would still require atmosphere around at least around the transmitter and receiver.
You REALLY need to watch the series!
So... have you watched it?
So you watched it as yet lil bro?
I also love that their facial expressions essentially match what they would be if they were talking normally
let’s talk about that line read. “i hope so” THAT HAD NO RIGHT TO BE SO GOOD
Superpowered Martian parasites, the Mauler Twins, a transdimensional alien military, malevolent lava men under the sway of a cackling madman, the bloodthirsty alien super warrior Battle Beast and the risk of entire battalions of zombie robot soldiers going rogue. Mark is going to have a hell of a time finishing high school.
It's a small part of their interaction but I love it so much where Allen talks about how he could've stopped it if he had paid attention and Mark told him that it probably wouldn't have made a difference. He knows that Nolan manipulated everyone and that nobody could've stopped what happened, he fully accepts that it's nobody else's fault but Nolan's and nothing would have changed that. It shows his acceptance of what happened.
And Allen doesn't take what happened lightly, he's a hero too and thinks himself responsible for what happened because he wants to save lives.

Allen was actually genetically modified and trained to match a viltrumite in a 1v1 fair fight. All his people weren't like that that's why they lost.
2:57 Something I find really funny is how the alien leader does the thing where you stab the objective to be all cool but it's a screen. Dude just stabbed a fricken monitor.

I like how they not actually talking, because in reality sound does not travel in a vacuum.
"Sorry to rain on your parade - that happens on Earth, right?"
I dont know if he means rain or parade
"what is highschool"
i knew that would come up
His name is Allen the Alien, not One Eye
He will eventually be the leader of the coalition of planets, so put some respect on his name
Put some respect on that, it’s Mr The Alien
@@NTWoo95 if we wanna get technical they eventually call him Great Allen
Put some spoiler warnings on that comment
@@undeadinside3571 ikr dude just doesn’t care about others
He does?! Nice.
Ive always thought of what would happen if one evil fought an more evil person and rn im just thinkin wtf would all the bad guys do if they knew what omni man wanted to do?
They would probably unite against him. No one is truly evil. They all have their reasons. If the bad guys know there is a force that is gonna destroy their planet and all their whole way of life. They would probably work with cecil to bring him down.
@@Darkstormsun9865 true to the concept of "I may hate this society, but it is still MY society to hate".
Him flying up to mark f'd me up at first it totally looked like Omni man
The day Mark manifests his power was when Omni-Man restarted his plans to take over the earth. Omni would probably have waited until Mark, and his mom died of old age before taking over. When Omni asked, "are you sure?!" he decided to begin. Shortly after, Omni killed the Guardians. The only people capable of stopping Omni would have been Mark combined with the Guardians. Sad really. Omni never gave up on the conquest, just paused it so his kid and wife wouldn't see his true self. Mark getting powers turned out to be the starting gun to something worse.
No he paused as to gain Earth's trust
@@quartzskull8772 He Didn't need earths trust. Maybe a little time to learn our ways. But him waiting just ensured they would have more time to learn about him. You could tell he was conflicted when Mark first got powers.
@@jaynoxjay yes he did because if he didn't have it them earth would've put up a fight resulting in mass death and destruction, he became a hero to earn trust so the transfer of planetary leadership would be easier since the people trust him
@@quartzskull8772 Once he learned human History he would have known that's not the case. Our history has always been might makes right. When he came here he fell in love and had a kid. If that didn't stop him then why did wait until Mark gained powers to finish the take over? Omni mans race ultimately doesn't care how they gain control over a race. If they knew Omni man was playing house for all those years they would have replaced him right away.
Seth Rogan was a perfect choice for Allen.
Allen: What’s the plan in the meantime?
Mark: I’m not gonna work at the soup kitchen.
