    Alright.
Every year there’s at least one point that I get a million comments on that tell me the same thing over and over again so let’s be crystal clear about this.
“The Spectre is the wrath of God”. Where is that said in the shows? Comic explanations aren’t accepted as canon and never have been. Why would this be the exception? I don’t care if that’s how it works in the comics because it’s not explicit in the text.
To add to this: I am also aware that Lucifer takes place in the same multiverse, and God is a character in that show. But not only does he never once interact with the Spectre-making this once again an adaptation argument that we’ve already dismissed-it’s also stated in Lucifer that God created the “universe”, implying he only has dominion over that single universe. There is no indication that God from Lucifer has any type of power throughout the multiverse.

Ummmm, akzually, in the comics it’s shown that god, or the prescrence in the comics actually has domain over all of the dc multiverse so your actually wrong and I’m right and the flash is the greatest show ever with the greatest writing and you should stub you’re toe on a coffee table in the middle of the night 🤓🤓🤓

Bringing back Savitar has loads of potential. He literally stands face to face with his past variants daughter without risk of being erased from existence. Instead of fighting, he should've had an existential crisis about how this means Iris doesn't need to die to preserve his own life anymore. He could've saved Iris from Zoom or Thawne, directly paralleling his S3 objective. Then have him die saving Nora West Allen, paralleling Nora Allem dying in front of Barry. the difference between season 1/2 and later seaasons to me is the elevator pitch test. The core concept of season 1, man gets new speed powers and has to learn how to manage them, eventually deciding to try to do good with them. The core concept of season 2, same man begins to get a grip with his new powers as we find out that the accident which started it all may not have been as accidental as we thought.
I feel like I, along with most people, can overlook a lot of things if the idea itself is solid. Bad coreography could be fixed without changing the core story. Bad acting could be fixed without changing the core story. And most bits of bad writing could be fixed without changing the core story. The earlier seasons of the flash had a good core story, even if their execution of it was left lacking in places.
Later seasons however just completely phoned it in.

To me there were some really great aspects to the show early on, things like Thawne's character in the first season and the whole implication that he was from a timeline that at least somewhat resembled the comics, but even then as you said there was some really weak aspects, but the show had personality and a real charm to it that somewhat helped counter it, like back then it knew it was goofy.
For me it was during season 2 where I think problems began, the Zoom twist and his grand final plan seemed I never really liked, along with Barry's sudden new speed force powers and bringing back characters from the dead via other universes. Also the ending with Barry going back in time to save his mother felt like a contradiction of season 1's finale, which even then as much as I liked it not once did anyone bring up how saving his mother would throw off the timeline completely. Season 1's ending felt like the writers intentionally avoided doing a Flashpoint story because they knew they simply couldn't do it justice, so that change having Barry realize that changing the past wasn't the answer really worked, only for the season 2 to say screw all that he's doing it anyway, and thus giving us a really lame 'Flashpoint' to start season 3 and from there it was a downward slope.
That along with things like that Flash's main reoccurring villains only really being in the first season bugged me, we never really got a proper comic Rogues team. It really felt like the show was always restricted in a lot of ways, and in others was just not willing to go far enough. Clearly that Smallville motto of having no capes or costumes still rubbed off on the flash, sure some characters had costumes but they all looked the same after a while, heck even the Flash himself had some pretty crap costumes at times, and others like Mirror Master was made into just a guy in a suit. I also really hated in retrospect all those little nods and teases towards the Justice League, like the names on Earth 2 Barry's phone, people would get so excited about that stuff despite these shows clearly having no intentions of actually featuring any of those characters. Everything just felt so cheap and diluted with nothing else to it after a while.
I got into the Flash during the New 52 run, and from there backtracked to read some of the earlier stories, and it led to him becoming my favorite superhero, but for me it ate away at me how much of the show's structure and adaptations of characters didn't appeal to me, from making Barry and Iris practically siblings for most of there lives, and 'team Flash' being an idea I couldn't tolerate after a while. That said I never hated this show it just somewhat fizzled out for me, I think I made it around half-way through season 4 and gave up, and it just made me sad how little I cared about the show after that.

that ending monologue about not caring about the show anymore, more specifically the entire show, was actually pretty sad. As no more than an audience member, hearing that there were scenes at the start that still have emotional value that have been rendered insignificant by the shear size and quality drop of the show kinda gets to me. Knowing that the show had meaning and passion even if it was flawed, but now that it's finally over it has to be shut in a box and forgotten rather than remaining as a gem in ones mind, as it probably would have if it had finished years beforehand.
Idk I guess I never thought about a show or franchise being so dragged out and disrespected that there's no way to look back on the earlier days and love the simple times. It's just a shame that the later, inferior sludge of something once great has somehow infected the earlier entries with it's flaws, draining it of the love that fans once displayed instead of being righteously ignored and overlooked so that the fans can continue enjoying the earlier entries.

I still think that the Flash seasons 1 and 2 are still good. Outside of being an incompetent hero, the character work for Barry is really good. He gradually learned new skills as he learned how to use them responsibly. His regression arc in season 2 is particularly impressive. Of course, it’s ruined by season 3 only having Flashpoint for a single episode, but whatever.
The show also bothers to have interesting mysteries, which is nice, and especially in hindsight. Thawne-Wells’ dialogue is so well done, I can’t believe literally anyone from that season wrote even season 3. Zoom actually felt scary, like a speed demon or serial killer.
Beyond that, there was a sense of novelty and discovery within every new concept that I really miss. Metas felt cool, like each one had interesting powers that had their own strengths and weaknesses to be discovered. Time travel and the multiverse were still fresh concepts, and the characters reacted to the like any real person discovering them would. Along with that, everyone feels like they’re having a blast, probably because they are. The actors, and thus the characters, look like they’re having so much fun discovering this crazy new world.

Then it just kept going downhill. Now we're here. A place I never wanted to see this show. It's over and it didn't end with a bang, but a wimper.
I really don't like what the show became but I have a hard time hating it. I just feel sad. This show started at a rough time in my life and it brought me peace and joy when I needed it the most. There are 2 thoughts I wanna put out here. Firstly, while Seasons 1 and 2 have some corny Arrowverse stuff and stupid things that make no sense if you think about it too much, it’s not really fair to call them bad. I’ve only recently stepped into this show after glimpsing over it for years just cause I never got round to it (I’m also in the UK so it’s trickier to get it here) and there’s even stuff I like about the whole first half of the show, but those first 2 seasons are genuinely heartfelt, gripping and intense compared to a lot of what we get later on. It can be hard to remember that for some people who are overwhelmed by what we have now, but we can’t forget the reason we fell in love with it in the beginning.
My second point is that I believe Grant Gustin still pulled it off somehow. If there was any heart and soul left in the show by the end, he was the only one who brought it and carried it on, and you can still see it all the way through. Despite how bad the writing got, he always gave the role his all and his acting and performance was consistently great. Huge respect and admiration to him, he will always be The Flash to me.

The case has certainly happened here, where despite the first couple seasons of this show being genuinely alright people have begun to believe and claim it was terrible to begin with, forgetting about the stuff they used to love about it and only focusing on the worse bits. I’ve heard some crazy Star Wars fans start saying the original trilogy sucks just because they’ve let the more mixed projects from recent years get into their heads. The worst part of the flash was giving him a team. Like sure having kaitlyn, cisco, and wellsobard there made sense in season 1 because barry didnt understand his powers and he needed the help at the time but as the series progressed you would think that barry would grow as a character and need less help to take down the bad guys but no, they need to give screentime to other characters so barry has to always need help to take down the bad guys because cw cant think of any other ways for other characters to be on screen. Imagine if instead of spending every episode constantly having barry struggle to take out a regular villain they spent some amount of time having barry struggle to be the flash and barry allen while keeping his identity a secret. They do this a little bit but they never put it front and center unless they wanted to have a big melodramatic sequence where everyone gets mad at barry for something. Imagine if instead of everyone just getting pissed off we got to see the internal struggle within barry where he sees someone in trouble but cant act upon it without revealing his identity because hes out being barry allen which causes him to push away his duties as a regular person and focus on being a hero too much and risk losing his job or some relationships with people. Like that would be way more interesting than barry failing to catch villain #62 and the team being like "barry you failed and like 8 people died but its totally okay because you tried to talk them down instead of hurting them but next time we find them lets use this gizmo to temporarily reduce their powers and then handcuff them. I have been a Comic Fan since the late 80's. I have always accepted that it can have pretty absurd Stories. As you pointed out not only did the Flash have a pretty good Story for a Comic TV Show, it had people who cared. Seasons 1 and 2 where great for what they where and I loved them for that. Season 3 I enjoyed until the end. That was when Characters started having changes done to their Personalities, and prior Rules where starting to be ignored.
Once Season 3 was done I knew it was over, and I stopped watching. Its sad because it was a great Show, and for what it was. It was enjoyable and entertaining. Its sad that they just seemed to stop caring.

There is a middle ground on the "Flash was never good" and "Flash dropped off between seasons 2 and 3"
They were at least trying to make it look cool and feel engaging with the first two seasons, it's noticeably better than the power-rangers fights in the later seasons - but it was always pretty plot-holey and inconsistent, and you just can't sustain a show like that for 9 years without the last few years feeling much weaker than the first.

Just to be clear, there are 4 versions of "The Night of the Impossible", the night that barries mother died. This is because crisis rebooted the universe and altered things slightly, New52-style.
There is pre-flashpoint-pre-crisis. This is the one that setup flashpoint. Then there is post-flashpoint-pre-crisis. THIS is the one from the intro to the series with Original Timeline Barry. Then crisis happened and recreated most of the events that happened before crisis, but altered ever so slightly. Because of that, the events of "The Night of the Impossible" were recreated and altered. Now we have Pre-Flashpoint-Post-Crisis (never shown on-air) where it essentially is a recreation of the events the pre-flashpoint-pre-crisis events but with Finale barry instead of original timeline barry. Then finally we get post-flashpoint-post-crisis, which is the events we saw in the season finale.
That scene left me with a bunch of questions too. This is how it was explained to me.

Regarding the whole Nora's death thing-
The moment reverse flash went to the past to kill Barry as a kid, he made Nora's death a fixed point. The original future flash we saw fight him in season 1 wasn't the one from season 9.
In seasons 1 and 2 that's show this scene, Barry and thawn arrive from a time portal together. Thawn wasn't transported here beforehand and had lunch with Barry or anything else we saw in season 9. So we STILL haven't seen the future flash beat thawn, because that can't happen anymore, even if it did originally.
Also, it's a brand new earth prime that didn't exist in seasons 1-4(?) after crisis, so it really can't happen anymore either.
So just like flashpoint flash and flashpoint reverse flash (season 2) coming in to stop pre-flashpoint flash (beginning of season two or end of season 1) from stopping the original thawn just... Became the new history, this season 9 Barry being the one who fights thawn and saves kid Barry just... Became the new history after crisis.
..... That paragraph physically hurt me

@@ninjafrog6966 there's nothing really to explain that they haven't already.
They explained that stable time loops don't exist (ignore legends of tomorrow please), so any instance we see of time travel is a new thing happening then, as we see it. Not happening because it already happened.
.... That made no sense, did it?
Basically, the show has said multiple times that every instance of time travel either is so minor that nothing changes in the grand scheme of things (entire plot of season 3 with savitar up until the finale), or it is massive enough that it alters a "fixed point" and makes a brand new timeline (flashpoint and crisis both, as well as season 3 finale where iris doesn't die).
As long as Nora dies, Barry can travel to the past and give his baby self a wedgie. Since that's not a fixed point, and doesn't make a new timeline, he won't remember getting a wedgie because it doesn't actually happen in his personal history. The speed force just merges the "self wedgie" timeline and the "no wedgie" timeline into one, and since there isn't much conflict no one would ever notice. If instead he broke the legs of his baby self, the Barry we see do that would eventually remember that, on top of any other differences, as a new timeline is created and he travels back to the "new present" in this new timeline. If he stays in the past after the leg break, he turns into thawn who becomes an anomaly the timeline will try to correct in increasingly stupid ways.
So in this case, Barry from season nine can eat with thawn in the past before he kills Nora. Or he can go on a blockbuster binge. Neither really matter and neither will change the timeline as long as its not a major change.
That one aspect is basically the ONLY Thing related to time travel that is consist in the show, and something we've seen multiple times. Everything else changes on a whim, like time wraiths and the timeline hating speedsters (which is something basically everyone forgot was an established plot point)

i think the end of Season 9 where current Barry stops his past self could've made sense if time travel worked like this:
the timeline can be changed, but only once
    so basically
Barry's mom lives in Timeline 1
Thawne goes back in time and kills her, causing Timeline 2
Timeline 2 Barry goes back in time to stop Thawne from killing her, which would cause a slightly different Timeline 1 (Timeline 3)
this isn't physically allowed to happen, so future Barry stops his past self
