Awww Katie dariln' please don't apologies for who you are or what you do. No one else can make you happy. No one else pays your dues. How you live life is no one's business but your own. Dearest Kate,
I am so blessed I have found your channel. I have learned so much from you. I have silently been watching and finally subscribed to the channel. For the last 3 weeks, my children and I have been binge watching all your old videos. This weekend we watched the series you did on “mom’s quilts.” I don’t think I have cried as much as I did watching it. What a beautiful legacy your mom left for you!! What a beautiful job you did finishing her work. They were all simply stunning!! ❤ My name is Misty Dutton and I am the momma of 12 kids, for the state of Ohio in the United States. 11 girls 1 boy. I see a lot of myself in you. I love seeing you excited about a project! I get the same way! Anyway sorry for the long post, just wanted to say I love your channel and all the great things you are doing! You are such a blessing to us all. I hope you have a blessed week. We will be in touch soon. Blessings from Ohio❤

Hello Kate. Just finished watching your postage stamp quilt. Knowing how much you enjoy your birds in the garden, I have a tip for you to help birds in general, make their nests. I keep an empty tissue box by my machine and when I cut stray pieces of thread, I just keep them on the box. Come spring time I set the box on my patio and watch the birds land and pick pieces of thread for their nests. Love watching you show. Keep up the good work. One of your friendly fans from across the pond, in Michigan, originally from Canada, in Ontario. Fondly KarenLynn

Dear Kate, I am so happy to follow along on your "butterfly mind" journey! It's never boring here at the Last Homely House and the inspiration is deep and wide. Kate, it seems like we crafty people always have more than one - well perhaps we have anything up to about 10 different projects on the go at once. I love watching your videos, because they often send me down another rabbit hole to discover what's there. My machine is always up, the spinning wheel always out, knitting in the basket, hand stitching and embroidery in another basket, everything ready for whichever mood takes me. Thank you for everything you show us and the friendly way you have us join you in your very Homely House and letting us sit on the lime green sofa.♥♥♥ .

I like that...."I can do it, I know I can." I had to change a flat tire on my car. First time with this car. The tire is up under the back end, and I had never had to change one like that. It defeated me for a while, but then I just decided, that I could do it, so armed with the not so easy instruction manual, I persevered, and changed the tire! The tire man couldn't believe I did it by myself.

I think it just dawned on me why I love you so much, Kate.....YOu are the RUclips-sewing-knitting-land-Mr. Rogers!!!!! All of your american viewers will know exactly who I am talking about. It is the way you talk directly to the viewer, just like Mr. Rogers talked to his children viewers. He had such a calming, instructive, caring vibe that I was enchanted by him as a small child. It was the only show I was thrilled to allow my kids to watch. We never really did the tv thing because it is so chaotic to us. Its what draws me to you, while I am working on my own sewing, knitting, spinning, etc...calming, interesting, engaging & you give me inspiration and alot of Ah Ha moments. I have one on my bike, one at my bed stand, one at the sofa, and a couple more scattered here and there...........Mostly because I have different moods and opportunities. My projects take on a similar vision. So , Kate, you're not out of sorts with the way that you do things. Makes perfect sense to me..........lol lol lol. I LOVE that you involve all of us in whatEVER project you're currently working on. It's inspiring. Blessings to you from the New Hampshire/Vermont border, USA.

Kate, you are so much like me, I too have many projects on the go at once, I do quickie projects but most of them take time. I love the color pink. I should paint my kitchen pink. My class room was pink and no one liked it but me. I loved going to work in it. My bedroom curtains are half square triangles that was a quilt top that never was finished. I love them. I am going to be making my living room curtains the same or maybe the squares. I have been looking for curtains for here but I do not like any of the factory made ones. I am going to be painting my chairs and creating pillows for them. I am retired and have nothing but time. I have even made socks. I wish my husband was with me still he would have love the old me come back. I was creative as a young wife/ mother then work took my time. Thank you for all the inspirations. Love and Blessings

Like you, I have many things "in the works" at any given time. Kudos to you that on top of everything else you create, you find time to do videos for You Tube. I find I tell fewer and fewer people what I am doing as they don't seem to "get it". I asked one of my neighbors what she did for a hobby and she said "nothing". maybe watched an occasional thing on the TV. I take care of my husband who is ill and in a wheelchair. I love to cook and try new recipes, I sew (clothing, toys, quilts and small quilted projects) , I knit, crochet, needlepoint, embroider, cross stitch, refinish furniture, upholster, paint (acrylics and watercolors), keep house, shop, lots of gardening (I am currently hardscaping a walking path around the house and garden)...but I am never ever bored. So you just keep up what you're doing and enjoy your life. I understand completely.

Love you Kate, and your ideas! I’ve loved your curtains from the first time I saw them. One day watching your video, you were sitting on your sofa with a quilt draped over the back. I got out my scraps and adding machine tape and started sewing away and away and away till I had enough to start adding a one and a half inch solid color sashing strip, also making it multicolored. I made four pairs and put finished borders all around. I have them in my sewing room with clip hooks that slide on a rod. I love the light shing through and get lots of great comments on them, thank you!,

I love your videos and your friendly manner. It's like visiting an old friend every week. I just finished a birthday quilt for a 5-year-old, a bookcase quilt for Father's Day, and a quilt for my son's wedding. I thought I was finished with multiple projects and could finally make a quilt for myself, but at the wedding, my new step-grandson asked for a quilt, as well as another member of my family (birthday in August), and two days later, we learned there will be another wedding in the family, and my son-in-law saw the pattern I was making for myself and asked for a quilt like it. I have also started two Hanten jackets, a light one for summer and a quilted one for winter. No matter if we do one project at a time or start several so we don't get bored, there is no such thing as "down time" for us crafty people. We need to be inspired and busy. Again being rather new here,I was catching up on all your past videos . I was not around at the time of the cats’ deaths .I want to offer my deeply sincere heartfelt condolences . I had a cat called Andrew who had lived to be 18 years old. He was exactly the image of Norma. Seeing your old video about her while she was very ill brought bittersweet memories flooding back. In the past, I always forced myself to finish one project before I started a new one. Then I started to look at needlework channels, specifically crocheting and knitting and I learned the delightful terms wip- work in project and ufo-unfinished object. These terms let me give myself permission to have more than one project going at a time. Its so freeing. So, I understand the fact that you have multiple irons in the fire.

“So, what are you up to at the moment?”
“Oh” (carelessly) “just working on my PhD.” 😁
Carelessly. Carelessly. Have I spelt that right? The more I look at it the more odd it seems but the dictator is spelling it exactly the same as I did.
Is it like doing lines at school? After a while all the words look wrong and you find yourself seriously asking someone “how do you spell ‘the’ “.

Dear Kate...I watch every video of yours...some of them, I rewatch them over and over again...then one fine day, I received a review from U Tube and asked me about your videos, it was a survey...I told them your videos are very inspiring, knowledgeable, educative and you are a very good teacher indeed...have a great day, Kate...I am a quilter now...

My mother once complained “Don’t you ever finish anything?” and it hurt terribly. She’s been gone 17 years but the harsh comment is still there.
I have several projects going too, even finish most to gift to family at Christmas and birthdays. So NO to any guilt trips! Maybe it just takes a very intelligent person to keep up with them all! I will claim that bit of wisdom and pass it on to you as well. Thanks for the inspiration,Kate!

I have had this comment from someone in the past as well. While it wasn't my mother, it still got to me. But I too love the process of so many things, so finishing them is lovely, but like losing am old friend! The only thing that stresses my making mind out is if I have to do something on a timetable. It actually makes me take longer to finish these things ad they have a negative connotation to them then and I don't enjoy the making process. I've learned with my grandchildren to make things a lot larger so I don't have to get stressed it's not going too for them by the time I finish. My kids are getting used to how I work now they are adults! Enjoy your makes!

Okay, this is an old video, but...
... the fact that you don't rush your projects for videos is great, and there needs to be more of that sort of creating shared online! Most people can't churn out projects fast, and it can be discouraging, in the long run, to see others do that. Not to mention it just keeps feeding the consumerist, fast fashion sort of mentality that we struggle with in the world.

Kate. You’re my kind of girl. I absolutely adore hand piecing. My mind is full of projects. I ordered some Jen Kimball acrylic templates recently. I want them here immediately. My winter project will be a Trip Around the World….approximately 40” plus something for a table topper. I live in Minnesota USA so plenty of winter for a cool hand pieced project. ❤

I've learned that there are a few ways to call your scraps. Anything under 10 inches square and under is called cabbage. And I decided that strips and small squares must be coleslaw! Coleslaw can be used to stuff pillows or 🧸! In other words, a cat cushion can be made with cabbage and stuffed with coleslaw.
I think I Like that Idea! Best wishes for all your projects Everyone!

Kate you're a woman after my own heart. I also have many projects on the go. I certainly don't mind you're moving around your projects. I'm thinking I might make some of these curtains for my conservatory. It's lovely to see you with a smile on your face and happy about what you're constructing.

They will all get done eventually! You are very encouraging and because of you, I am going to dip my toe into quilting at some point this year! Please keep doing what you do! I love sitting with a cup of coffee and watching your videos each morning. Like sitting with a friend!

I said pink! I’m knitting with a pink color way yarn right now. I love going from project to project but mostly it’s sewing and knitting. Some journaling; I have different journals: sewing/knitting, one for each grandchild, and mine.
    Keeps my brain “young.”

To quote Forrest Gump, your channel is ‘like a box of chocolates’ that has all of my favourite flavours. Every week I’m inspired to continue pursuit of a more creative, fulfilling life. This morning when you talked about your creative process, it reminded me of the late Cat Bordhi and her Rio Calina Cowl, which is a free pattern on her website. I think you would enjoy it when you’re looking for a new knitting project. Cat is gone, but her daughter and some dear friends and colleagues are keeping her creative spirit alive. ❤️

I hadn’t realised how much the curtain lining colour influences the whole effect. I just thought that particular curtain had many more green fabrics in it.
I imagine a pastel pink lining would give a lovely rosy glow to the new room, especially in winter.
    Happy making, Kate 🌸

I’m so glad you have given us instructions on your lovely “mosaic tile” curtains which I have admired. I would have cut up small 2” squares and tediously sewn them together !! What a lot of unnecessary work on my part. So, thank you. I plan on starting mine soon. You have another video I’ve seen on the “stained glass” piecing with the French seams. I can’t wait to do those too. So,so pretty. Your videos are so calming. I really enjoy them.
