I wish I had the opportunity to see this video when I first started fishing for bass this past summer. I made lots of mistakes and missed a lot of fish. Very informative 🎣
Hey LB: Thanks for continuing to share your bass fishing enthusiasm/experience! I have through trial and error purchased/replaced my primary spinning rod seven (7) times. I fish always from my kayak and absolutely love using the Fenwick HMG66MH-FS (with a 3000 reel) for ALL my soft plastics applications.
That was a great and needed idea for a video. I will bet you helped a bunch of people today. It can also be given to mom and dad to watch , so they buy you the right stuff for christmas. If you are just staring out.
Thank you so much for making this video and sharing the info! This is just what I needed to watch as I'm looking to buy a couple baitcaster reels for new rods I ordered that happened to be the same size rods you talked about!
Great stuff. I agree for sure. I myself have only 2 setups, and both cost me around $100 (I like to keep it cheap 😂 they're quality setups for only $100 though); one medium heavy w/ a baitcaster and one medium w/ a spinning reel. Really looking into investing into a heavy setup whenever I get the chance though because the thickest cover always looks so juicy!
I only fish three poles but I don't have a spinning rod. I bass fish and everything can be done on a baitcaster. You just need to have a talented thumb, haha. Great video.
I disagree, I learned all my techniques on a baitcaster, so its easy for me. Going to a spinning rod would make it harder for me, its a matter of perspective.
Ladybass, thank you for another informative and professionally presented video. I now own a medium heavy casting outfit, particularly a 6th Sense 7'2" moderate fast Lux rod which they consider to be a crankbait rod I, however, and you're more than welcome to correct me if you think, that I'm wrong, but I see the moderate-fast action as being more versatile in application than a fast or an extra-fast rod though these have their place. The reel, that I chose was a Lew's Tournament MB with a 7.5:1 ratio which, pretty much fits in with what you recommend. Before I end this, may you and yours have a Happy Holiday and keep casting!
Its pretty much all personal preference😃 i know people that like cranking with a fast! I do prefer a softer tip for moving baits like crankbaits and chatterbaits, just increases the hook to land ratio. On the other hand, for a bottom contact bait or heavy cover i like a fast.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing your video. I'm getting back into Fishing this year! I have 2 Medium Heavy 7'0 Baitcast Combos and 1 6'9 Spinning Outfit. All by Fenwick! Looking into purchasing a 7'6 Heavy Action Baitcast Combo eventually for thick cover. The 2 Medium Heavy Baitcast Combos will be my Multipurpose rods. The Spinning Combo will be my Finesse stuff. Can't wait to get back to it!
Great combo recommendations! I would/might add a Combo 4 for super finesse....either an ultralight spinning setup or a BFS rod and reel. I'm beginning to prefer the finesse techniques over power fishing since bites are almost always guaranteed with smaller presentations. Keep up your great work!
BFS is differend ballgame for the most Bass fishers. Daiwa air Revo Ltx and the Aldebaran etc are finesse reels Rods is the ballgame its what you like and not every rod works for you depending how you cast and what you want to cast in grams. Find under de 4 grams sometimes hard because the wind and distance. I cast 3 and 4 grams without the expensiv BFS reels on light baitcaster 5 - 20 grams thats for BFS understanding a heavy set 2 - 10 > grams is better, but we have here must Pike and thats way. Hope for you that Ladygirl is into Bfs finesse fishing for you to hear 😁
Amazed at your knowledge and videos. Just bought a slx baitcaster and for the price point dont think you could complain. However i am really wanting to splurge on one and considering the Shimano Metanium MGL baitcast reel. Any comments on this reel would be appreciated. Thanks !
Metanium is an amazing reel and you will not regret buying one. Curado K and the Curado 70 are both fantastic reels as well. The bad thing about the Metaniums is once you buy one and use it for a while you will want to buy more!! The newer Bantam MGL is also and awesome reel in that price range, I have been really impressed with it and like it almost as much as my Metaniums.
Thanks a lot Shawn ! I used the slx baitcaster today and for the price it is pretty nice. I have bounced around with different brands of reels and now i think i am leaning more and more towards Shimano. I have a Cardiff i use for swimbaits and like it too. Nothing against other brands but its just my experience.
My question would be, if you could only have or buy one rod/ reel combo, what power/action/length would you choose i.e. what is the most versatile. So that you could use almost any lure/rig set up.
Id go with a 7’0 - 7’2 medium heavy, fast power rod and a 150-200 size 7 gear ratio reel. This will get everything done other then deep cranks, punching heavy cover, and finesse ofcourse! Let me know if you have any more questions😁
Came back to check in. Currently use my 7medlight zodias stradic fl dropshot rod/baby keitechs. 7'2" med zodiac for plastics/small frogs, jigs etc. My 7' med or 6'8" med light zodias with stradic ci4+ 2500 or 1000 for whatever i like. Finally have all higher end combos 400$ is good for me. Expride is next.
You wouldn't happen to have tried out the expride 6'6"? If so; How does it compare to the Zodias? Thinking of pairing it with my Curado DC jerkbaiting for perch.
@@Totaro17 I started off using rightys because im very uncoordinated with my left (to reel). Issue was that the rod was then in my left hand, so i didnt have as much power to set the hook in heavy cover, or fighing big pike etc. Also, i had to switch hands when flipping docks and cover. So, i decided to learn to use a lefty because why not lol! So now i use leftys for big swimbaits, jerkbaits and flipping/jigs!
She's just comfortable that way. I myself prefer my right hand doing the reeling for both spinning and baitcasting reels, but I'll switch to reeling with my left hand on spinning reels because then my dominant hand (right hand) is on the rod so I can really precisely work my rod tip and feel really light bites
Didnt really plan this but take advantage of the end of BLACK FRIDAY sales today!
I guess I am kinda off topic but do anyone know a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Andres Brett Flixportal xD
@Chad Mario Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
@Andres Brett you are welcome xD
Great video Isabella, I use braid on everything with a floro or mono leader with a Alberto knot

I used to use almost that exact rod! A good spinning set up is important!

Hey, great to see a young lady fisherman!!! Fantastic, the world needs more female anglers :). Congrats!

its easier to fish some baits such as a drop shot or a blade bait on spinning though

Those will about do it all. Great setups.

Great video! Really enjoy your content and completely agree with those three combos!

Cant go wrong with those three rods, but there is a fourth rod I always bring with me and its a 6'10"MH for jerk baits.

Well done Izz... hope to see a few hard water vids this season.....
Coming up soon!
merci pour ta Video
Any tournament????
Much better 👍
Was watching some carnivals, your like got me back, now searching the channel for some more fishing action 😊👍
I noticed your heavy rod had a left hand retrieve reel and the medium heavy had a right hand retrieve, is there a reason you switch?
Yes, so i can use my right arm to fight the fish out of cover!
Interesting, I'm left hand retrieve and there is no way I could retrieve with my right, I would totally jack that up, lol. Great job on your videos.
I don't understand how you do the leader . A barrel swivel?
No i tie a direct knot - usually the Alberto knot
Ok going to have to learn that one lol thank you
Good
Why a different hand casting reels?
Your medium/heavy is right handed and you your heavy is left handed
I use both right and left handed reels
Ladybass I see that. But why?

What is a spy bait
why ask...just look it up on google. Are you actually going to wait to see if she or someone else answers?
You shouldn't say you can throw everything on that med hvy cause you can't.
As in its the most versatile rod!
Ladybass...Why are your spinners left hand retrieve and your baitcasters right hand retrieve...?
