Fun Fact.... at the time, Columbus was a young director without much credit. During the production, Columbus was asked what kind of music he wanted for the movie. He said something like "I would love to have John Williams music one day, but i cant pay him" Its not known who, but someone of the production team send the script and Columbus statement to John Williams. Williams called Columbus a few days later saying "I´ve red your script, i love it. I do the music for free." 10 years later, they would work togther again, on Harry Potter
This isn't true. Columbus's original pick to score the movie was Bruce Broughton, who had to cancel at the last minute due to a schedule conflict. Steven Spielberg got him in touch with John Williams. By the time Williams came on board the movie had been shot; he agreed to score it after watching it, not from reading the script. I can find no source saying Williams work for free, but it's unlikely that his rate would have broken the $18M budget. From a 2015 Entertainment Weekly interview with Columbus: ⟪If you see an early poster for Home Alone, the credits read “Music by Bruce Broughton.” Bruce Broughton did the score for Young Sherlock Holmes, a movie I wrote, and I always wanted to work with him, so we hired him to do the score. But as we were getting closer to finishing the film we got a call from Bruce saying that he was under a deadline to finish his score for The Rescuers Down Under and he couldn’t do Home Alone. So we were left without a composer. I had known Steven Spielberg for years … Steven got me in touch with John Williams’ agent, and John agreed to screen the film and he fell in love with it. His score took the movie to a different level.⟫
I love that John Candy and Macaulay were reunited in this after Uncle Buck. Even though they weren't in a scene together, close enough. Also the funeral scene by Candy was completely improvised, which makes it even more hilarious. And Marv's spider death scream is legit. He had arachnophobia. The greatest crime in this certainly...is that Kevin didn't even get to eat his Macaroni and Cheese.
Here's the actual full truth behind the spider scene. Yes, Daniel Stern was terrified to do the stunt. So he only agreed to do it once and once only. But in order to avoid scaring the spider from his scream, he had to mime it. The audio for the scream was added in later.

The real tearjerker is this movie being a time capsule of a better time: cheap groceries, no TSA at the airport, and nobody spending every waking hour staring at a mobile device. Second movie is just as terrific, if not funnier, however some may claim it's inferior. The third one is..... okay. Four through six are complete wet farts and I'd discourage anyone from seeing those if looking for above-average quality. Edit: Carrots for reindeer. That's at least what my aunt/uncle told me when I slept over on Christmas Eve while mother worked. Age 7 in 1996 you'd have me believe almost anything.
Fun Trivia, the actor who plays Gus the Polka player who helped the mother go back to Chicago, also plays Barf from the movie Spaceballs. Also its confusing why Kevin put carrots in the plate with cookies for Santa but I believe they're for the Reindeer.
Thanks Ms. V. I've seen this movie many times and you made it fun to watch again. Frank and Marv are so funny in this. Both accomplished actors. Best wishes to you and yours, Ms. V.

greatest miracle of this whole movie: they left their front step 45 min before an international flight out of O'Hare at Christmastime and made the plane
with no traffic, a 25 minute drive. international first class check-in, pretty fast. You'd be late, but they maybe could have made it before the plane left (but not before the door shut and they couldn't get on) ah, travel pre-911

I totally forgot that John Candy was in this movie. ❤ He was the best.
This was my first time seeing him in a movie lol I'll have to check out his other stuff
End tears me up every time!!
It's so heartwarming! 🥰
I loved this reaction! I laughed along with you. Now onto the next Home Alone!
When Marv steps on the nail, I lose it 😂
Fun one, Verowak! Thanks for sharing this with us. 🙂
great reaction! Make sure to watch the second one, it's just as good, if not better!
33:21: Yeah, for the reindeer.
Fun Trivia, the actor who plays Gus the Polka player who helped the mother go back to Chicago, also plays Barf from the movie Spaceballs.
Also its confusing why Kevin put carrots in the plate with cookies for Santa but I believe they're for the Reindeer.
I’ve watched this movie so many times I never paid attention to the line “When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone” 😆
Pesci flies off those stairs, I feel it in my gut, and in my sub-gut.
Thanks Ms. V. I've seen this movie many times and you made it fun to watch again. Frank and Marv are so funny in this. Both accomplished actors. Best wishes to you and yours, Ms. V.
literally the best Xmas movie out there
This is one of the classics of Christmas movies!☃️❄️🎄🎅🏻
It's a staple for me for Christmas now
New fanic pairing unlocked: Kevin McCallister/Old Man Marley's granddaughter.
It’s great to see you laugh and smile. Love the outfit too.
Thank you, the outfit is so warm and cozy 😍
Always happy to see your reactions. I remember watching this movie as a kid. One of my favorites.
This was a lot of fun to watch for the millionth time, but along with you ❤ Some ninja was cutting onions in my bed when the church scene happened, I don't know why!
Also, cute onesie!
One of my all time favorites. Watch it every year.
I might just have joined that club lol
3:11 “When I grow up AND GET MARRIED, I’m living alone.” 😂
Absolutely love the onesie! I think we need you in costume for every film now 😂
That would be so fun!! 😁
Fuller, if you didn't recognize, was played by Macaulay's real brother, Kieran Culkin!
Home Alone 2 is pretty good as well
I love the sequel. It takes everything that made the first movie great and dials it up to 11! Some people say that takes it too far, but I enjoy it.
Very curious to see it
Hi Verowak,
First of all... you look adorable in your reindeer outfit. This is a fun and heartwarming movie. Another great john Hughes movie. The sequel is good too. I hope you will watch that as well. you asked about the carrots. Milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer, like you. :o) Thanks for all the fun reactions, it is always a pleasure to re-watch movies with you. Take care!
We gotta do part 2 aswell , its more brutal then this one but this a gem ! im surpized you havent seen this one
I basically grew up under a rock when it comes to pop culture
Interestingly, in Poland there is a TV station "POLSAT" which shows this film every year for Christmas, and when they didn't show it one year, many viewers wrote why, and now it shows it
every year. 🎄🎄🎅🎅🎁🎁👍👍🏡🏡🥶🥶😉😉
greatest miracle of this whole movie: they left their front step 45 min before an international flight out of O'Hare at Christmastime and made the plane
with no traffic, a 25 minute drive. international first class check-in, pretty fast. You'd be late, but they maybe could have made it before the plane left (but not before the door shut and they couldn't get on)
ah, travel pre-911
I adore this movie. It's my absolute favorite score for a Christmas movie, John Williams was perfection-but everything about this movie was perfection. So much heart. ♥
Can't wait for you to see the sequel... and yes there's only one. Pretty sure that'll be a 99% agreement from viewers. 🤣
I was not expecting so much heart in this movie, but I loved it!!
@@VerowakReacts It's the dichotomy between the sincere heart and the slapstick that makes it all somehow work. It doesn't become a mindless children's movie because it follows through on the heart. It's timeless. ♥
@@nataliefaust7959 That's so true, and I never would have been able to explain it half as well as you did :D
@@VerowakReacts Aw. ♥
33:21 "Carrots?" You leave carrots out for Santa's reindeer. Santa gets cookies & milk. (This was one very endearing reaction; thanks kindly)
