When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O'Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home.

I still remember the Honest Trailer for this movie “watch as a child traps two incompetent criminals in a sadistic house of torture” and “Home Alone, a movie that’s one part heartwarming Christmas story and one part Saw”
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is basically a scene-for-scene remake of the first. Evidence? Have a look:
*Animosity towards Kevin in the beginning spawns from a situation in which Kevin was actually the victim: Pizza; pageant.
*Of course, several events lead to Kevin being separated from his family.
*Kevin enjoys his situation at first.
*He watches an old b&w Mafia movie, which traumatizes him.
*He meets a creepy stranger: Shovel man; pigeon lady.
*He's doing things kids his age really shouldn't know how to do.
*He fools someone into thinking there's a vicious, trigger happy adult present using the audio from the Mafia movie: pizza boy; concierge.
*He starts to get scared of being alone until he sees the creepy stranger isn't so bad.
*He uses the Mafia movie audio to fool a dynamic duo of criminals.
*He sets traps around a house to make a monkey out of the two criminals.
*The criminals get the upper hand and take him away to maim and murder him.
*Creepy stranger shows up and saves the day via: shovel bludgeoning; pigeon attack.
*Criminals get arrested.
*Kevin asks Santa for his family back.
*Mom arrives.
*Family reunion.
*Tender moment with creepy stranger.
*Kevin gets yelled at off screen: "What did you do to my room?!"; "YOU SPENT 927 DOLLARS ON ROOM SERVICE!"

Fun fact: In Poland there is such a tradition that every year at Christmas Home Alone is shown on television. One year they didn't air it and there were a lot of complaints 😅 since then' Kevin is home alone' because that's the Polish translation is our Christmas tradition. I love this movie a lot. It's so much fun. Greetings from Poland🥰

Not only did she sense something was missing, I think she knew Kevin was missing because it was way too quiet on the plane🤣🤣
Fun Fact: The scene where Harry and Marv almost hit Kevin with their van was actually done in reverse. They didn't want to endanger the actor so for the scene, they had him scream before the van reversed away from him. Then they just played the footage in reverse to make it look like they almost hit him.

OMG OMG OMG This is absolutely iconic! Not only was Macaulay Culkin brilliant but we don’t talk about Catherine O’Hara’s Comic Timing.
Catherine O’ Hara is also Sally in Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

For all the people wondering why Joe Pesci speaks gibberish in bits and that’s because he can’t swear in a PG movie. Talk about an acting challenge. Then again, he surpasses that challenge and makes it hilarious.
I was surprised the subtitles didn't say "@#$^&*!?"
The “I’m not afraid anymore” line is the DEFINITION of Famous Last Words 😂

If you’ve ever seen Pesci in any other movie around this time. He was mostly making mafia type movies.
Goodfellas, Casino, A Bronx Tale, Catchfire, The Public Eye.
Him trying not to swear in a PG movie is actually amazing.
Fun fact the bandages on that man’s hand is a symbol of him and Kevin relationship because earlier it was all wrapped up in white tissue and bleeding but the church it was bandage with regular bandages and at the very end it’s completely gone.
I know I’m late, but I just want to say, I find it so hilarious that this kid couldn’t even pack his own suitcase and yet he can build all these death traps and gadgets no problem.
21:14 Back in the day we didn't have lotions (maybe they existed, but weren't as widespread) we used alcohol based aftershave and it was irritant enough to burn a bit even intact skin. I actually miss those, as it gave that tingling fresh pinching sensation after every shave, like rubbing alcohol in a fresh wound. You could just "feel" it eradicating the bacteria... 😅
Apparently Joe Pesci couldn't cuss at all in the movie, so that's how he did those "rasa frat" murmurings lol. Also I think he actually did accidentally bite Macaulay's fingers in that one scene too.
I was Kevin's age when this movie came out and even at that age I was POed about how Kevin was treated by his family in the beginning. Also it made me look forward to the day I would be able to be home by myself (and do whatever I wanted lol). That wouldn't happen until I was 13 because I think there's a law for that in Texas and 13 is the age I think you can start being alone by yourself.

I mean, we forgot about how the physics of that house wouldn’t make a sled go that far but creative license is not a crime.
He was in Uncle Buck first, then this. That's why it is so heartwarming to see John Candy and Macaulay in the same movie together again. Even though they didn't share a scene the connection was there. Then did "The Good Son" pretty brilliant child actor. And then went on to more.

You want another John Candy movie. The Great Outdoors. Great hilarious film.
When Kevin screams from what he put on his face after the shower, acting wise he was supposed to take his hands off his checks but from the humor they decided to keep it the way he did it when he forgot to take his hands away
Common mistake. It wasn’t a hot iron, it was just red from the impact. Like if you get open palm slapped in the face and your cheek turns red.
there was a great bit on saturday night live where culkin was guest hosting Saturday night live and pescie show up and started to beat him with a bat to get even for the home alone films very funny

Literally, the only one simple single thing Kevin had to do: was take the toppings off the Pizza. Then he would've had a "Cheese Pizza" 😂🤣😁🧀🍕

Hey Tim, I got a John Candy movie to recommend to you. He might not be a main-ish character but he's still part of it and its called Cool Runnings 1993
It's like my tradition to watch this movie just about every holiday season.

The intro with the theme always sounded a bit haunting to me..
I remember when I was in first year high school me and my class mate watch that movie...I feel the happiness...
Not gonna lie, for Kevin to sleep through all the chaos that was them all rushing to get out, he must've gotten into some hardcore narcotics or something cause I'm a heavy sleeper, but all that noise would at least cause me to stir a little bit

I'm so glad you watched this movie again. It's my favourite Christmas movie and it has been for over 8 years. The acting is top notch, the humour is on point and the idea 💡 is creative and cool. Top teir Christmas ⛄ movie 🎥 to me.

I saw this in the theatre when I was in college and the group of us about died at the pizza delivery scene in the beginning when that kid said $122 for ten pizzas. I can't speak for Chicago but that would have been astronomical in 1990. We would get TWO extra-large two topping pizzas and a 2-liter bottle of soda for $9.99 ($10.60 with tax). Even now, almost 33 years later, I only pay $12 for a large two topping pizza. It's still the most far-fetched thing about the film. The rest is 100% believable. ;-)
Actually, the only kids that live in that house are Buzz and Kevin. The rest are all their cousins.
Peter and Kate had 5 kids. Besides Buzz, the three kids that talk to Kevin in the hallway upstairs at the start of the movie (Jeff, Megan, Linnie) are Kevin's siblings, too. They're all in the family picture Kevin looks at in bed.

Yeah, the aftershave scene makes sense if you're one of those kids that copies everything their father does at a young age, but doesn't get everything right. See, aftershave is supposed to be applied with a smooth stroking hand over the skin. If you slap freshly shaved skin (which is super sensitive) with aftershave, it's gonna burn like you wouldn't believe!

Did you hear that the scene where the GMC of the robbers almost runs down Kevin was actually shot in reverse, so Culkin was never in real danger. You asked for John Candy (RIP) movies, so here's one: "Brewster's Millions" Candy is the best friend... Enjoy!
This is my solo opinion, but I love Home Alone 3. It may just be because I love a younger kid with more robbers, or just because the main kids name is alex. either way, it’s great in my opinion
Instead of talking to eachother for 70-80 %, I'd recommend you two focusing a bit more on the movie instead. Not bad video regardless, semi-made my day! ;)

One major plot hole for this movie I only noticed recently is that Kevin would not have been in the house alone on Christmas morning. Mr. Marley would have either stayed there with him until his family got back or brought Kevin back to his home until the family got back.

Not weird at all. Even in today's society neighborhoods are heavily segregated. So it makes sense that you wouldn't see black people in that neighborhood.

À chaque fois que je vois de la neige dans un film, je ne peux pas m'empêcher d'être jalouse parce qu'en France ou du moins, du côté où je vis (à au moins une heure de l'Atlantique) il ne neige plus comme ça depuis des années. Enfin, il neige mais ça ne reste pas au sol.
