I would like to suggest a movie similar to "Uncle Buck" called "Mr. Mom". It stars Michael Keaton and Teri Garr, It is very funny. A reaction to it would be awesome, thanks, you two rock!
You guys probably won’t watch another John Candy movie for a while, but when you do, I highly recommend, Cool Runnings. Yes, John Candy is great in it with his comedic timing, but the movie is so much more. It’s actually based on the Jamaican bobsled team which competed in the 1988 Calgary Olympics. It has its share of laughs like most of Candy’s movies, but it is also very inspirational. Most viewers get choked up at the ending scene. Fun fact: that ending scene has actual footage of the real event.
In my opinion, this is John Candy's best ever. He is and will always be Uncle Buck. If they ever try to remake this movie, Candy fans will probably burn down the movie studio in revolt.
Uncle Buck is both my favorite john hughes and john candy film. ive seen it countless times and i still love it. it hits harder as an adult. RIP John Hughes and John Candy.
I miss John Candy soooooo much. I still cry every time the frame freezes on him. You have to watch Only the Lonely, he was the romantic leader. He gave his trailer to Maureen O'Hara, because he felt she was the star.
@@Madbandit77 he was a class act and I think of him often. I'm not as big or heavy as he was, but appearance wise I've always felt just a little less than, well, just a little less. I'm not modest about my intelligence, education or humor, but I've always felt a kinship with him and Robin Williams. The world was a better place with those two men in it. And you're right, Maureen O'Hara was a class act as well.
Over the years I've heard the news of celebrities dying. Of all of them, only the death of John Candy brought tears to my eyes. So many of his movies had him cast as the Everyman; just a guy living his life as best as he could. He portrayed them perfectly. I believe there is a heaven and I really hope that John is there.
John Hughes had the silliest moments in his films, unbelievable things happened, impossible things YET it still worked. That's the magic of the 80's. 80's films knew how to create the perfect balance with drama that was backed up by light moments to be immensely entertaining every time you watch it.
I saw this on video when I was just a sophomore in HS. One of those movies that isn't perfect but you just keep watching it and thinking about it years later. Well...maybe it is perfect then.
I was 7 when John Candy passed away in 1994. At the time I was still learning about death and how we can still enjoy their performances on screen forever
One of my all time comfort movies. I saw this in the theater but in fact, this could've been my life story with Uncle Buck. This always hits close to home for me.
One of the most underrated movies of all time. Definitely one of John Hughs’ best. John Candy was such a treasure. Every time I come across this movie I have to stop and watch it.
Every time i watch the end of John waving goodbye i feel like his saying goodbye to everyone. He passed away while filming a movie in Mexico of heat exhaustion. He was part of my childhood.Gone to soon 😞 😢
You remembered Uncle Buck's GF as Costner's wife in Field of Dreams. You didn't notice that the little daughter was in it too. Also, as a grown up she was the vice presidents assistance in Veep...if you watched that. The older daughter was the great singer who fell in love with Mr Holland in Mr Holland's Opus.😎
The girl who plays Tia, Jean Louisa Kelly, is a fantastic singer. This is captured most notably in "Mr. Holland's Opus." She primarily does musical theater but did star in the TV series "Yes Dear" for a few years and does the odd movie occasionally. She had a cameo in "Top Gun: Maverick," in fact.
A really good 80s Disney movie is Flight of the Navigator. Stars the late Paul Ruben and Howard Hessman(WKRP and that 70s show) as well as Sarah Jessica Parker ( sex in the city). One of the firsat uses of CGI and the effects were above the time.
If you watch yourselves watching this film you just never stop smiling because the movie as you mention is just one of those family friendly feelgood films and you are right there are not enough of those nowadays....and not giving my age away i saw this at the cinema when it came out and the audience were laughing throughout.
Uncle Buck!? It’s like you’re actively trying to get me to join your Patreon. My son-in-law saw this for the first time last year and immediately told me he can see Buck’s influence in my parenting style. Which I take as a compliment since my daughter and I are so close and alike.
Firstly I miss John Candy! A little trivia for you sisters, Tia that plays the eldest daughter was in Top Gun Maverick, she plays Iceman’s wife. And Amy Madigan (chanice) is Ed Harris’s wife in real life.
I absolutely love the scene when Buck walks into school to meet the principal, reminds me of when my mum went into school after a kid punched me in the back of the head during a fight. Was the coolest and most terrifying thing I ever saw when I was a kid 😂
One of my all time favorite movies. I'm always surprised at how many people have never seen it. 100% agree this is the type of family friendly good movie we very rarely get anymore from Hollywood.
John Candy passed away while filming a movie in Mexico of heat exhaustion. He was part of my childhood and i always felt that him waving good bye at the end of the movie uncle buck was like him saying goodbye to everyone.
This is one of my favorite films. I used to live near some of the locations of the film and other John Hughes films. Every part of the films have changed so much over the years but still cool how it was back then till now. Buck’s apartment is right across Wrigley Field Cubs stadium. The High School in this film is the same High School in The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. it was an abandoned school back then. They also used the school gymnasium for Home Alone neighbors house. They used the pool to do the Wet bandits water scene. They used the high school location for the film crew for Home Alone. The High school is now a police station
Yee! I watched this as a little kid growing up and it was a favourite. But i used to connect with the two young kids, and these days i connect more with the older daughter and with Buck himself, as i understand the adult themes way more as an adult.
I have been watching Uncle buck every couple of years for the last 30 years, always cheers me up and puts a smile on my face, when I was traveling and living abroad for a few years it was one of about 60 movies I had on my laptop, Uncle buck, Trading Places, Coming to America and Cool Runnings were my go to cheer up movies and never failed.
Uncle Buck is the type of uncle that all of us uncles wish we could be like for our nieces and/or nephews. I have a niece and nephew myself, and I loved this movie as a kid. I don't remember if I saw this in theaters or not, but I do remember my dad renting it from Blockbuster video a few times for us to watch, and he inevitably bought the VHS tape which he gave to me years later when I got older. I still have it, but I may sell it once I get a DVD copy of the film, as I'm phasing out my VHS collection right now. But, that's another story. Although Buck is a bit rude, unapolegitcally a bit unorthodox, and a touch insane, I think Uncle Buck is a character that you can tell deeply cares about his family, and he's filled with wisdom in spite of his demeanor that would suggest otherwise to most people. While I can't say I'm as crazy, rude or unorthodox like Buck is, I do hope I can be as wise and caring to my nephew and niece as Buck showed in this movie. This is definitely one of John Candy's better films along with John Hughs. I haven't checked out you ladies other reactions, but I'll definitely do so, as you girls were fun to watch reacting to this movie, so you earned yourselves a new subscriber. Keep up the great content.

Another John Candy Classic one is Summer Rental. It is not John Hughes, it is Carl Reiner, the father of the director Rob Reiner. Truly adorable family friendly film
Uncle Buck is my favorite John Candy and McCauley Culkin movie. The interaction between the two and their individual performances is stellar. Great reaction ladies!
If you haven't planned your Thanksgiving movie review, I'd highly recommend the Thanksgiving classic Planes, Trains & Automobiles, starring Candy and Steve Martin. The plot (no spoilers) is Neal Page (Martin) is in New York and trying to make it home for Thanksgiving in Chicago. It's a John Hughes movie, a comedy, and (spoiler alert) you will cry.
I've always loved this one. I like most John Hughes movies. 80s and 90s movies are the best! You also can't go wrong with John Candy. "Summer Rental" and "The Great Outdoors" are other family fun ones he's in.
John Candy was originally cast in the 1984 Ghostbusters movie as Louis Tully but he wanted to play the character with a German accent but Ivan reitman said no about having the character speak in a German accent and he either got fired or left and they got Rick Morranis

John Candy is a treasure, and I will recommend The Great Outdoors. Have seen both many times over the years, and always worth a rewatch. I never did watch the short lived Uncle Buck tv series back in 1990. John Hughes is such a great filmmaker.
John Candy did a close study of my family and their parenting style. No pretention allowed in the house, just lots of tough love. Good reaction to a great comedy.

John Hughes did a great job making fun, relatable movies with a lot of heart. John Candy took this one to the next level. He was one of my favorite actors of all time, and I'm still sad that he's no longer with us. He always seemed like a warm, caring person who would be so much fun to hang out with. What a legend. Such a great movie to put a smile on your face. Even with a few tears at the end. Daughter bonding with Mum. And John Candy with his smile and wave plus happy memories!! Michelle and Natalie Thanks for another fun reaction. Cheer's Gorgeous Ladies.xx
This was a favorite on the movie channels; HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc. for a very long time. Always loved it. Another Chicago-based similar flick is ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING (1987).
Uncle Buck is the story of a good person struggling with some problems who really wants to take care of his nephews, and that situation forces him to make an effort to overcome those problems and bad luck, and along the way, he makes his nephews's life even better. Not very fashionable nowadays...
