So we have to get together and despite the PS1 1997 graphics, play the original game where there are no arbiters of fate who personify the angry fans of the original canon, everyone who needs to die is die, Sephiroth does not appear every two seconds, Yuffie can go fuck herself and there is an epilogue many years later giving understand that the story is over and leaves almost no tail behind!
The voice acting is stiffer than psx models, the story is a joke (whispers?!)

@@repeekyraidcero the voice acting is fine. If you're playing with japanese voices that is. And why wouldn't you. Aizen voices sephiroth, match made in heaven. No but in all honesty, I played through the game in English for the first playthrough and god the japanese dub is just infinitely better. The story is not a joke either, the remake is really accurate and I honestly couldn't ask for more. Excited for part 2 but I'd rather have square enix skip ff7 and remake ff6 like this instead.

@RamZaes - 21:10 The original FF7 didn't have as much characterization for Jess, Biggs, and Wedge (like they might have had only a few lines of dialogue before they disappeared from the game). It also didn't have nearly as many "chapters" of stuff.
Also Aerith and Tifa got A LOT more characterization in the Remake as well.

@@jeangreffsbp At best, the Midgard intro section was like 1/7th of the total game. Most people, even taking their time, finish the Midgard intro section in 5-8 hours. The original game went on for 50-60 hours on average. Though they are probably going to cut a lot of content and concentrate on a smaller number of important plot points in order to make a trilogy.

But the Mature outfit for Tifa is the canonical and best looking outfit of the bunch.
I love the kimono for Tifa as my favorite. Kind of wish they'd had one for Cloud when he dressed up, lol. Especially as Madam M is in one and she was the one who encouraged them to fight in the arena (I also love that genuine Japanese culture is somehow part of their world though there technically isn't a "Japan" in their universe. Maybe Wutai?)

i played the remake first and loved it so much that i got the original and played through that one. then came back and replayed the remake and actually understanding everything MAKES IT SO MUCH BETTER. what the dementors mean, what their defeat implies, how this game defies the original story, anD HOW A FEW CHARACTERS (mainly aerith and sephiroth) SEEM LIKE THEY'RE AWARE OF THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE, WHICH MAKES THIS REMAKE SERIES POTENTIALLY A COMPLETELY CANON SEQUEL TO THE ORIGINAL????? i already considered ff7 to be, imo, the greatest story ever told so im incredibly excited for part 2. more so than any main numbered final fantasy.

Small note about the Summons, RamZaes. The higher tier Summons like Leviathan and Bahamut require 2 ATB bars to bring forth.

This game has so many levels of meta . Once you beat the game for the first time you end up looking at lore and theory vids then you play the game again and the story is seen from an entirely different angle and it’s fucking insane how it all lines up with crackpot fan theories that were basically confirmed by ultimania tweets

And well but I think this FF7 is more like a alternate world that runs beside the original ff7 so cloud sometimes gets visions or feelings from the original time line and he feels and doesn't feel what will happen to her if she comes with mabey idk

Technically Tifa and Barret are ecoterrorists. Cloud is just a mercenary who gives a rats ass about AVALANCHE itself. He just wants money... and to stick his big phallic.... Buster Sword inside Sephiroth’s gut.
I mean nothing will get done if they dont take drastic measures. in the intergrade dlc they mention it near the end. That the group yufi were in was too "soft." and i kinda agree, lives will be lost no matter what happens so you might as well just grit your teeth and go all in.
@@Floridamangaming729 I’d agree... except they are still terrorists and still killing innocents. In the original it is slightly glossed over but the explosions they set up actually kill innocent civilians. Mostly because their bomb expert sucks at modulating the bomb’s power.
@@lenleon3699 Well, Shinra manipulated the explosions. From what we learn in the game it's not like the bombs were to powerful.
@@GreyVictory1510 dunno if that is a detail added in the remake but I am 100% certain Jesse admits she effed the first bomb. The second one was different since they knew they were coming so yes, you can argue they messed with that one. In the original game I mean.

I enjoy FF7 stuff enough to rewatch this upload, lol! Yoir commentary is great.
Also, I wish they'd taken a page out of FFXV and had a "go back in time" feature that would allow you to toggle between certain points in chapters. For example, the only way to get back to the Shinra building combat simulator is to replay ALL of that chapter first. I recently decided to redo this chapter on easy mode for the sake of getting everyone's finisher moves and pick up the Purple Gloves for Tifa, which I had missed on my initial playthrough. I'm trying to complete hard mode. Doing the missions in that room I think is how you can get Leviathan and Bahamut (or maybe you get them from Chadley, which he too needs a quick access point). It's annoying to have to redo everything just to access that room again.
Oh, also for those not aware, though by this point I'm sure everyone probably is...you DO NOT have to complete the mini games on the motorcycle portions! Not the one with Jessie and not the one when you escape the Shinra building! If you want to just hurry up and get to the next chapters, press the option to skip cutscenes. I stumbled upon this on accident, I thought those were mandatory. I'd check first though to see what items you'd miss out on by not doing them but I already have them from my normal mode run (that's another thing, make it worth my time to redo optional bosses on hard mode).
And just after I wrote this, I see in the video that indeed, it is Chadley whom you get the other two summons from, lol. But I think it is only when you encounter him in the building so yet again...a travel option to jump directly to this point of the chapter would've been nice.
I'll note on this Fire Emblem reference, Fire Emblem Heroes confirms ALL OF IT with another Anna, and this one is to professional to have friends. 35:22

I've not played the original, but from what I heard, this is what I'm pretty sure is happening:
Shinra wants to go to the "promised land" of legend (they think this is a literal place, which it isn't - it's effectively the afterlife). The Centra (also called the Ancients) were nearly wiped out by an alien invader called Jenova, with them eventually sealing her away. Millenia later, Shinra finds Jenova in the mountains near Cloud and Tifa's hometown. Falsely believing her to be an Ancient, they perform experiments on her body (and also build a mako reactor in the mountains to act as a sort of cover-up). One of these experiments is to inject Jenova's cells into Hojo's unborn child (apparently a long, tragic story), who is Sephiroth. While attempts are made to create more "artificial Ancients", they don't work as well, and the program eventually becomes SOLDIER - with them injecting cells into young men/teens. A few years later, Shinra finds (and captures) the real, actual last Ancient, Aerith's mom (Ifalna). She and a member of the research team (Prof. Gast) fall in love and they run away - only for Shinra to find them, shortly after Aerith's birth, and recapture Ifalna (and Aerith), killing Gast in the process. Eventually, Ifalna and Aerith escape (when Aerith is 7), but Ifalna is fatally shot and Aerith is adopted by Elmyra Gainsborough. Some time later, the 13-14 year old Sephiroth joins the war between Shinra and Wutai, becoming a beloved war hero. News of the "first SOLDIER" spreads to Cloud's hometown and the boy resolves to enlist one day, in an effort to make his crush, Tifa, like him. However, years later, when Cloud does enlist, he is found to possess no talent and he becomes a grunt. While in SOLDIER, Cloud befriends a SOLDIER 1st class named Zack Fair, who is dating Aerith. Cloud and Zack are assigned on a mission to, alongside Sephiroth, go to Cloud's hometown - more specifically, the reactor there. Tifa acts as their guide. While there, Sephiroth (who has actually proven to be quite a decent guy) finds some altered records regarding his birth and origin, leading him to the conclusion that he is the last of the Ancients, Shinra is evil, etc... He goes crazy, destroys the reactor (and the town), and is only stopped when Cloud shoves him into the reactor, "killing him".
Something happens then (I forget what), and Cloud and Zack end up escaping from Shinra. Cloud is injured and Zack, outnumbered, dies saving him. Cloud, either traumatized by Zack's death or because of some Jenova mind-manipulation (probably both), then steals Zack's identity: taking the Buster Sword for himself, convinced that he was a 1st class SOLDIER all along. Skip ahead 2 or so years and you have the start of the actual game.
The Remake is actually acting as a sequel. Somehow, Sephiroth is now aware of his fate: that our heroes will defeat him. But he's still crazy, so he still wants to 'revive Jenova' and all that. So, in order to do that, he's decided to fight fate itself. This is why he's constantly appearing, saying stuff about "the reunion" between him and Cloud, and overall taunting Cloud with visions. None of that was done in the original (he's going off script), which is why Aerith, the only other character with 'foresight', is so warry of him ("everything about you is wrong"). It's also why, when our heroes eventually defeat fate in the climax, the story ends with all those confusing visions: bits and pieces of their once inevitable fates (ex: Aerith's death), as well as a confirmation that, with this action, there now exist alternate universes.

Yet he loved it. Having been a 10yo player in 97, fan of the OG and compilation since then, i obviously loved the remake too including for its meta aspect, tho i wondered whether it would succeed create the hype to a newcomer without loosing him. I'm satisfied. This guy's wtf style review is even more hilarious for he accepts to be lost in all this lore and meta, like about Zack ending "You killed a lot of guys, good for you!" :O. I wonder if it being produced for the PS5 exclusively will effect the length (because let's be real for part 2 they need something beefy so being on PS4 isn't an option)
@@kaizerlith7070 I think 2024. From the restart in development after CyberConnect2 to release last year was 3 years, but COVID broke out and gummed things up for Square, with FF7 not getting a patch after release until 4-6 months later. So, a major delay would be expected there.
I will guess that the finale for the remake will come out on 30th Anniversary year of the Original, in 2027.
i picked sporty for tifa, and i got the fancy cloud with long hair, i dident even looked for those things, also i am a bit on team tifa because i like brawlers more then magic casting, and the history between her and cloud seem like they would be a natural fit.
on a side note, i'd kill to have a body like her and have the strenght to throw punches and kicks.

Yeah, I've been wondering what the heck is Tseng's age! He looked younger in Crisis Core, with slightly shorter hair, but then in Remake, they kind of got lazy and didn't age him down in the flashback.

Fun part about the remake is that... it's going to change how the entire story of FF7 original ran with TIME TRAVEL! And dementors (they weren't in the OG, Chadley also wasn't in it, so lots of) altering events! So if you want to actually see the classic FF7, go buy the classic FF7.
Basically the dementors are there to make sure everything follows the correct timeline, with the correct things happening the correct way it happened in the original game. Like Cloud going with them to the reactor, whereas if they didn't wound her she would've went, interrupting the OG timeline.

Just wanted to remind people Batman Arkham Knight was made by the same engine, 7 years ago, It was an open-world game with a lot of more complex mechanics and combat, with an atmosphere that actually was similar to Midgar city.
But in Arkham City, they didn't use JPEG images as backgrounds, 80% of the environment wasn't textureless, didn't have so many slow walks and crawling just to load the map. People making an excuse for FF VII Remake that it's running on PS4 and it can't be helped are stupid! Arkham Knight looks so much better than FF VII Remake, it's 5 years older, it runs better, it's on the same engine, it runs on the same PS4.
Stop enabling Square Enix. They stopped being good developers years ago! in this game you spend more time in textbubbles and cutscenes than in actual gameplay! like every 2 minutes, they stop you and make your character walk at slow speed for no reason or just to show a completely frivolous text bubble conversation, like seriously? you can't walk and talk? the combat is so shallow, simple and repetitive, even when you're actually enjoying a boss fight they constantly take you out of the combat with like 5 cutscenes in the middle of the fight. the summons were so underwhelming. the sidequests are pretty much the worst in any games I've played recently. The game outside combat and cutscenes looks awful(you can't find a door with textures in this game!) This game is a dumpster fire! seriously, people give shit to FF XV while praising FF VII Remake?!
