    Can you please tell me how to take the light part off before repairing the light? (Not taking light from Yukon).

    The Guru page shows some of the people soldering jumpers across the breaks, which actually short the circuit. The repair is accomplished by soldering the skinny bridges you can see in this video.
    The pictures there do show you where to cut small openings in the plastic through the back, but don't jump across the clearance between the two contact traces. I just sealed the hole I cut with hot melt glue to keep moisture out. My job only had one of them broken, but others have had both broken.
    It took me about an hour to fix. $800 an hour is pretty good wages...

    I have same problem with my 2015 Yukon. Right side went out and I tapped it, now it stays on. Wish I didn’t get it to work since it’s still under warranty. Dealer says they need to see that it’s not working. Just today the left is out, so I’m hoping to get it down there and at least get the left fixed. Praying the right goes out before warranty is up. Problem is they’ll probably replace it with new ones that will have the same problem eventually.

      Hey man, this is a video without taking anything apart

      Super easy. I fixed my second light like this.
      I used a grinder and cut around the index edges. Not easy or clean.

    How did you separate the lense from the back

  • @moejrbig

    I took all the screws out of the bottom. I tried snapping the lens off with a screwdriver. Bad move as the clear lens cracked in two. If I ever did it again I would use a dremmel tool with a cutting wheel. I did find that small piece of silver aluminum plate cracked. I threw the complete piece out and bought a new one from JC Whitney for $386.00. GM should make it easier to remove the clear lens so the light can be fixed.

      The screws is for the inner parts not the clear plastic cover. also you can easily open it up if you heat it properly.

      Is there a better way to disassemble the taillight? And cool I’m glad it’s just a solder job!

      Not that Im aware of unfortunate. I would suggest buying a Dremel. You want a clean cut so you can apply plastic weld between.

    you can just hot knife through the two parts where it breaks, instead of taking the entire light apart

    • @jonathans1472
      @jonathans1472 3 года назад

      Type. There are other videos out there where they just cut two squares from the back to access the breaks. Search form them. This is not how you want to do it.
