Hi, does it need internet connection and online account to work ? Or is a local wifi network with no internet connectivity sufficient to connect to the base station to access video footage ?
It's great. All wireless cams can take a few moments to connect for live view streaming and that's the same here. The only slowdown is when I'm scrolling through a lot of content on the floodlight, loading can take a while but that's a homebase issue.
Hi great video. I have the 2c cameras and home-base. Would u know if my 2c cameras will work with the new homebase ? Either s380 or S3 Pro 3 homebase and camera. Thx for any help.
AFAIK. It's not clear in the documentation now that you bring that up. It's possible it's on 24/7 to detect motion more quickly but if you use onboard microsd it's only recording the events. I hadn't even thought about that.
Yes and no. Depends on the specs for eufy cameras. Wired and SD card cameras are 24/7 recording. Any Battery or home base dependent cam will not be 24/7.
@@davetriesthis I think he meant that he wants to put the camera somewhere else that has internet (4G vs wifi i dont know, he didnt specify) not within range of the homebase
Ah. Sorry. It's got a 20' long usb cable. The usb cable plugs into the back of the device. The roof is 5' above the camera so I simply went to the roof on a ladder, screwed the solar panel onto the roof with their mounting bracket (just like attaching a camera to a wall) and plugged it in.
Yes. The cameras connect to the home base independently of the internet connection. You can't review footage while the internet connection is out but it's recording.
Don't be fooled by the Eufy cameras. The video it saves to the SD card can't be transferred or stored off the app. If you try to connect it to your computer, it will be encrypted and you can't access the files. Eufy support told me that my only option is to use the playback feature on the app and screen record the video using my phone. Yes. They want me to screen record 12+ hours of footage every day in order to store it onto my laptop.
I don't use an sf card. The base has a ssf slot. Footage is stored there. Footage I watch on the app can be downloaded right to my phone, sent via messenger, email, etc
No they communicate with the base station directly. The base station connects to your router. If WiFi goes down you just can't access the home base remotely but it keeps recording. That's why I like having the large capacity drive in it. WiFi could go out for a month and it'll still record.
If you could tell I didn't show the license plate, it's not pointless. Also, I'm not showing my license plate number on RUclips but feel free to send me your plate and I'll make a new video with it.

Hello do you prefer the wired or battery operated version?
Well wired is nice because it's always powered but the convenience of the solar powered battery one is really hard to beat.
Thanks for the review. How is the signal from the home base to the cameras. Is it always good or are there issues with drop out etc

Are you able to check this footage remotely from your phone? Live or otherwise?
Yup. I watch the footage captured overnight while I have breakfast to see what animals came.
Trying to learn more regarding setting the HOME, AWAY and SCHEDULE security settings found on each device… I have the solo s340

Yup. I've got a bunch of the second gen cameras connected on the home base3
So, the wired camera's can record 24-7 on the SD card in the home unit?

Do you know if i can setup a camera at a different location as long as it gets internett?
It doesn't need internet it just needs to connect to the wireless signal of the base station. Which is also 2.4ghz but reaches quite far.

More details on how you installed the solar portion would have been helpful

Does camera work if internet is out?
Yes. The cameras connect to the home base independently of the internet connection. You can't review footage while the internet connection is out but it's recording.
Do you use a UPS for power outage? Thoughts on this?
Yes. I have the homebase on an ups. My WiFi router is on the same ups.

My s340 only picks up people that are in front of the camera. It only seems to have a narrow tracking area.
A narrow tracking area, or a narrow area to detect subjects in?
Do you have to use wifi to operate these? WiFi goes out, recording goes out?
No they communicate with the base station directly. The base station connects to your router. If WiFi goes down you just can't access the home base remotely but it keeps recording. That's why I like having the large capacity drive in it. WiFi could go out for a month and it'll still record.
Didn't they have some terrible coverage on the news recently?
Not wire caps , Wire Nuts….
Oh hell, you're right. Thank you for pointing that out.
Enjoyed your video and info, love the Star Wars statue!😁
They are called wire caps or nuts!!
@@jszorc3488 bud I’m an industrial instrumentation Electrician technician I think I would know. To CAP a wire is to stop the flow of electricity.
