- Santa Monica Studio absolutely loves to cram its game full of neat references, secrets, and hidden details- God of War (2018) was essentially overflowing with them, to the point where we’re talking about them to this day. Ragnarok, of course, ups the ante in every way possible- which includes this area as well.
There’s no shortage of hidden details and secret content in the game that many may have missed entirely, and here, we’re going to highlight several of them. - Игры
you forget that when you fight with Thor in the first fight, as soon as the Thor and Kratos creates the frozen lightning, Thor says.. "This seems familiar", referencing his duel with Faye.
Good catch. I'd assumed that it related to some sort of time travel, since we knew that the World Serpent was going to get punched back in time, so why not Kratos as well. I forgot about it by the time I got to the Crater.
I like how Thor didn't even clean the wound off or get it stitched up at all, it's just all bloody and nasty.
@@DekkarJr or maybe he couldn’t
@@DekkarJr he couldn't, because the Axe still has the Eitr venom in it from when Kratos threw it into the lake in 2018
@@jetstreamsam99 D:< oh holy shit i missed that... :3 lol
Chaurli's new caretaker is Birgir. You meet him again at Freyr's Camp post-game.
You beat me to it
You can even see Birgir with Chaurli after you speak to him at the camp.
Yup this is true
He is also the new care taker of Charli. Go back and you will see him sitting by the fireplace inside.
Also, Birgir is taking care of Chaurli now. You'll see them if you go back to the camp.
I noticed no one else pointed it out to you guys, so I got you covered.
If you pay attention to the cups on the table when they all eat together for the first time that they are using the same collectible mugs that you get from within the mountain. Brok and Sindri are actually using what you sold to them.
That’s actually a really fucking dope detail bro thank you lol
The reason why they also have the funds to buy those items from you, is probably due to Draupnir...
@@Asriel_Cypher yeap! Correct, draupnir provide unlimited amount of wealth for them, so when brok said he need it to help Kratos got his spear, sindri looks heavy in heart
Oh.. How I still can't forget how despair sindri looks after the death of his brother and he said they took everything even his brother after sindri give them everything 😭😭
Thor’s belly wound isn’t a scar it’s literally not healing, and that’s a call back to the very beginning of GOW 2018, when the world serpant returns Kratos’ axe “eitr infused.”
In Norse mythology, Thor kills the world serpent, but it’s venom or “eitr” kills Thor shortly after, because the axe is infused with the eitr, it causes Thor’s wound to not heal throughout the game.
Mind blown!

Nice
And there we have it, ladies & gentlemen (& everyone in between):
*_Chekov’s Axe._*
BTW, if you go to Freyr's camp after talking to Charuli and talk to Birgir, he will be permanent resident of Charuli. You can go back to Charuli later for extra conversations
Just wanted to bring it up :) (I first talked to Birgir and he was already there with Charuli)
Why do you keep writing "Charuli"? It's CHAURLI.
I was confused when he said there was no resolve to that, like, I had him there before I could get to that area cause I had Astrus mention it
Did no one notice Atreus' eyes throughout the game. Naturally his eyes are blue, but when he's leaning heavily into Loki his eyes start turning green.
YES!!! I thought I was crazy or that it was a lighting thing!! You’re the first person to mention this from what I’ve seen!!
Kratos actually chuckles twice. There's another moment when Freya calls out Mimir on his diplomatic means when he had Freya and Odin get married. Mimir says it was "A deservedly low blow." Kratos chuckles shortly after that.
There is also the Wishing Well. Atreus mentions how sweet and clean the water smells and Mimir says they should throw him in cuz he's developed a stench. Atreus is shocked and after stifling his laugh (still counts lol) Kratos says "it is... natural"
And if you examine one of the shrines in Jotunheim in the post game Angrboda will say Atreus needs discipline and Kratos will chuckle and say “I like you”
@@NuckingFuts90I guess most people (including me) did not get to the Wishing Well with Atreus but with Freya. And in their dialogue, I can't remember anything similar :(
Regarding Fenrir's death and the whitening of his eyes. You learn in Jotunheim that that all the animals with the white eyes are missing their soul. So that is a cool early moment that tells you what will happen later in the story.
Not just that, Angrboda asks Atreus if he knew that there's a soul in his knife.
And he was saying the same spell that he used on odin, i thought that was cool
I saw a different vid and said they noticed when Odin is speaking as Tyr, they leave the dash from over the y, but when anyone references Try, or at the end when the real Tyr is talking, it has the dash, so they were letting you know he was a fake the whole time… I freaking loved that!
the best part was when you take kratos to hunt for loot and atryeus is like yeah he does that sometimes lol. breaking the 4th wall
That is not breaking fourth wall, he’s just explaining to the other characters what is happening.
That’s not fourth wall.
Yeah not much of a 4th wall. He's literally talking to Tyr when he said it.
my dad likes loot
One missed moment is when you play as Atreus and are at the hall in Asgard while having the large brawl, you will notice that towards the end when you are at the top level and shooting arrows down, you can see Ingrid and Mjolnir fighting each other.
god damn
But why r they fighting?
I think cause the sword is vanien and the mjölnir is aisier..
An absolute masterpiece. One of the best games ever made. Epic story and amazing cast. The last hour or two of the main story is unforgettable It’s a game that you don’t want to end. Thank you Santa Monica and Sony!!! ❤
Hel, I completed the main story almost a week ago and I am still processing how good the song from the funeral and end credits was. Bear McCreary deserves more credit!
For Chaurli, you can go back to Vanaheim and do the side quest for rescuing the guy who saved you from the Dragons. From there you can visit him again in Freyr's camp and talk him into becoming Chaurli's new caretaker.
I don't know Gaming Bolt missed that.
I was upset that the raven keeper wasn't a unique boss
I agree, I expected something else and it was easy to beat too... Oh, well!
From what I’ve seen it was supposed to be a unique character that was scrapped for the life of me can’t find where I saw photos of the character. One of the artist who worked on the game posted a picture with almost every character present in the game but there was also a random character there that wasn’t in the game
Kratos actually chuckles in the game twice. Once during Mimir’s story and then again when you see Angrboda in the post game visit to Jotunheim. But yes, it is surreal to hear both times.
There was another moment Kratos chuckled. It's at the end when you travel to Jotunheim as Kratos and during a conversation with Angraboda, Kratos chuckles and says "I like you."
He also chuckles in the previous game.
When it’s revealed that Mimir has had a spell put on him, to give the same stock answer regarding Baldur’s weakness, he chuckles slightly when he realizes that Freya did it.
@@JamesCPotter13 That... doesn't sound familiar. But then again, it has been 4 years since I played that game so I might just not remember. Do you have a video link to that moment?
@@clarencedemaree1787 I think he's got it mixed up. That scene happened in Ragnarok. Mimir ends up saying something like "he is blessed with invulnerability to all threats physical or magical".
@@JamesCPotter13 that happens in ragnarok
@@w1lDstYLe If that's what he meant then I never saw Kratos' response as a chuckle but then again I could be wrong.
You can actually finish the ravens before the end of the game. You even get to fight the raven keeper then. Funny thing is, if you got back to the ravens after that, they tell you to gut Odin in rhyme :)
You missed the Sleeping Trolls/Dragon Sidequest. It is an unnamed Sidequest obtained by finding a Relic in Midgard. If you use this near a Special Statue, it wakes up for a boss fight, winning against the trolls give you the Steinbjorn Armor Set, and winning against the dragon gives you an amulet.
WHAT! didn’t know that!
Except i killed all the trolls and am missing 1 slumberstone needed to craft the last piece. The shopkeeper(s) also didn’t pick it up in the blue chest in case i missed it so i’m really annoyed by that. Must have been a bug unless the stone dragon drops one cuz i haven’t done that yet.
@@TaskForce-ql3bx There are 4 Trolls, 1 in Midgard, near the Derelict Outpost. 1 in the Forbidden Sands in Alfheim and 2 in Noatum Garden in Vanaheim.
@@drahcir7x23 yep did all of them, still missing 1 stone :((

This game was well worth the wait 10 out of 10
Not alot of games are like this, gotham Knights was very disappointing
@@anas-432 yup i knew it lmaoooo
Personally I feel like the first game was far more cinematic and played out better because of a stronger story with more spectacle. I love Ragnarok but it just didn't hit for me like the first Norse entry in 2018.
@@Jstomper14 Same here but most are blinded by the stupid Hollywood direction this entry took.
@@servantbyday Yeah for sure. The storytelling in this one was nowhere near as good. Far less surprises and way too straightforward. The realm travel room in the first game was amazing, when they flipped the temple toward the end of the game to unlock that missing secret Tyr hid, when they were swallowed by Jormungandr and got Mimir's missing eye back, the fight they had with Baldur on the dragon, the fight with Thor's sons. Honestly it feels like they put so much more into the first game when I really stop and list it out. The segments playing as Atreus were not that enjoyable imo even though it presented the antagonist's POV.
1:52 Save Birgir in the hidden place of the map in Vanaheim go talk to him in Freyr's camp and come back to Chaurli
You beat me to it
If Atreus is in your party when you rescue him he says He knows someone .
For Chaurli, if you talk to Birgir after this scene, he will move in the house and become friend with the turtle.
I dunno. Maybe it's just me but most of the side stuff they said in here is stuff I treated as main story stuff. Saving Birgir. Learning about Thor and Faye's fight. Getting Freya's second sword. At least the latter 2 I feel should've been more main content. Especially since Thor says the frozen lightning bolt he and Kratos make at the start "seems familiar"
If you complete the sidemission in midgard about Sigrun’s family, after you complete the game and walk back through the holt, if you go to where Atreus woke up, Kratos, Mimir, and Freya express their sympathy’s to her.
Loved that so much. I could tell it was because I completed that side content that they said that.
Tbh the tournament one can also refrence how he made a guest appearance in mk9. The princess(kitana), the undead(scorpion), monsters(reptile) might be refrences to that
I decided to 100% the whole crater and most of the realms with Atreus before the final story, coming across the wishing well out of nowhere was pretty awesome. But now I want to hear Freya's dialogue with Kratos and Memir, waiting for ng+ for my second playthrough where I can rush the story and do any side content with a different character
One thing that I’ve never heard anyone mention is that the the two slots for the heavy and light runic attacks on the Leviathan Axe are a square and a triangle turned to the side and are colored purple and green, referencing the buttons that are used for the light and heavy attacks in the old games and the alternate controls for GOW 2018/Ragnarök!
I don’t know if anyone actually knew that but just didn’t say anything or if everyone knew but I was just slow! 😂 thought I would mention it though!
There’s a mythical heirloom that allows you to turn statues real on dragon beach. There’s a dragon statue that you can bring to life by smacking the heirloom together and you can fight it. This is the same heirloom that is used to awaken the trolls on certain maps. Very good find
I was wondering how the heck it was used lol
@@willznuts 😭😭well i got you buddy that’s what i’m here for
Not just a dragon but 4 trolls that were put to sleep by a dwarf
@@lsanya01 yes i did that 2 just didn’t have room to write that lol

@@luqadam408 Round 2 with Thor, GNA and Heimdell I'm looking forward to
photomode here we go
Game is goated for sure, my first playthrough took 55 hours and now I gotta 100% it
I am assuming Photo Mode was not a thing when you played it? Because I have been playing since December and it has been there the whole time.
Kratos kinda smiles or at least you can hear humor in his voice in the first game when he realizes mimir has been witched by freya
Kratos: Hmm, Freya.
I remember that.
I like how somebody zoomed the camera in to get a better look at Fenrir's eyes before he passed.
This game stressed me out at times 😂 but I’m very glad I stuck it out I’m just waiting for a New Game+ update and a PC release now lol
The Crater was such an unforgettable part of the game for me.
This man nailed the Hraesvelgir pronunciation and botched Surtr lol
I finished the main story last week. I've been traveling around finishing side stuff and discovering things since then. What a great game!
And Jörmungandr is that snake which Atreus put a soul in Jötunheim, Angroboda's grandma's house. There was a reference about Thor and Jörmungandr's fight in Asgard while ragnarök is happening.
Wait, so what happened to the original Jörmungandr??
@@princesmith8008 they are one in the same. The story goes that Thor hit Jörmungandr so hard that he went back in time. There's even a reference of Atreus and Jörmungandr seeming to know each other when they first meet.
@@KZ3fps So the snake in which Atreus put a soul inside and it kept on growing in size (as told by that black chick) was Jörmungandr??
@@princesmith8008 yessir
@@KZ3fps But wasn't Jörmungandr already in Midgard?? So how can you have two of them in the same timeline?
Damn that's confusing lol 😂
Im pretty sure this has gone over a lot of ppls heads when they played throughout the game. The first time you fight thor, and when the leviathan axe and mjolnir clashed, creating the frozen lightning in midgard, you then hear thor saying "this feels familiar" and kratos would then respond "what?" This reflects back to Thor's fight with Faye. Which was something I was wowed, when doing the crater side quests in vanaheim. I have always wondered why was there a second frozen lightning at the crater, but it all connects now
Yea that literally went over nobody's head
Fun game, great story!!! At times I couldn’t keep it together, I got really emotional..... I love this series, I love Kratos & Atreus. Thank you Santa Monica Studios!
Mimir, the smartest man alive
Also Mimir: The hell's an olive?
At 2:00 she asks the guy that jump from the flying boat (forgot his name) to move into her house and take care of him and he agrees after you save him and talk to him in her camp
The "Uncharted franchise has been the kings of face expression/animations. God of War Ragnorok came at them strong in this one. They were very solid in this.
A lot of these really don't seem that missable if you just play the game tbh
Right? Unless most just burn through the story and put it down.
If you take the Hel tear quest with Atreus as your partner, he'll speak the ancient language instead of Mimir, although the dialogue is the same.
The Raven Keeper wasn't too difficult for me. It was the fact that a dragon interrupts the fight midway through that made it interesting.
Another detail with Tyr is that the subtitles for the false and real Tyr and the real one are different.
It's easy to miss, but if Atreus tries shooting the chimes, he'll be told it only works with the axe and someone who's balls have dropped.
Speaking of Fenrir, every time Atreus goes back to the house, he can interact with the other wolves himself.
I had a harder time with the Bazarker king than I did the Valkyrie Queen
i agree he took me forever to beat i had gna down in 3 tries i dont know if its because she felt like when i fought sigrun in gow 2018 or what but was easier
@@kaiju-dax6674 i agree it felt like a fight i already had but the The Bazerker king his bifrost was what mad it a pain for me
Yea that damn bifrost aura he had at the end would always get me I got lucky on my last run that I was able to get him down to it without using my resurrection stone so that saved my ass
That "Faye and "Thor battle sounds epic 👏🏼
Wouldn't be surprised if it became a dlc mission.
@@LegendaryDarkKnight602 yhhhh I would, when has gow got dlc

@@LegendaryDarkKnight602 exactly
You need to speak with the traveler after rescuing him to follow up with freyas turtle
Thanks for that 👍🏼
The music in this game deserves an Oscar!
Faye’s theme slaps
Kratos will laugh a second time in the game. Post ending, go to Jotunheim and speak to Angraboda several times. In one of her last comments, she will say that Atreus is a fine warrior "but he needs discipline." Kratos will chuckle at this and say "I like you."
If you rescue Birgir with Atreus before going here. He will talk about finding a place to retire and Atreus will have a special dialogue telling him he has a friend he should see in Midgard, and then when you go there with Freya he’s there taking care of Chaurli and Freya gifts him the home.
The real question is where is Hela, Forsetti (God of Justice) Loki’s son that’s a 8 leg edged Horse, so many God’s that I felt they really skipped.
There's a conversation with Mimir that Hresvelgr plans to retire, that's probably the time Hel/Hela will replace her. Since in the real lore that's Loki's real wife, I'm thinking Angrboda becomes Hela.
@@mgsxmike I think Hel is actually Loki and Angrboda's daughter, not his wife.
@@mgsxmike hela is his child
They skipped loads of gods and creatures but they weren’t fully copying it, hence why Loki isn’t actually fenrir and jormungandrs father
@@themostpowertwitterhasever8603 you're right
Kratos laugh at Loki girlfriend was pleasing.
"I got a chuckle" delivery is perfect.
You should have put what happens when atreus hits the chime, hilarious
“Oh, I’m sorry; the chime only responds to the Axe… & to people whose balls have dropped.”
14:16 thats why when u fight thor for the first time and create the frozen lightning strike thor says "it feels familiar".
3:24 You missed the part that Thor could never heal from that scar because the Leviathan Axe was imbued with Jormungandr's poison in 2018's.
14:22 Plus, when Kratos freezes Thor's lightning, Thor comments that it feels familiar but quickly dismisses that thought.
15:50 You didn't show how Fenrir's soul piece slipped into Atreus' knife while the other three pieces fly away.
After saving birgir and going back to Freyr’s camp you can talk to to him and he will stay with chaurli
The fact that Thor's belly has it's own section is just *chef's kiss*
Yeah I think the tournament that Kratos fought in is a reference to his appearance both in Mortal Kombat 2011 and All-Star-battle-royale
"And yes you can pet him"
Thats all we want
It would be so awesome if kratos was more talkative about his adventures in Greece
Makes sense that he isn’t
That chaurlie care taker "not being resolved" if you do the side mission to rescue birgir he's taking care of him
I was able get all the Raven treasures before beating the game this time.
I came pretty close. I got over 40 before Ragnarok, and cleaned up the rest shortly after. Only had to use a guide for one.
Y'all forgot that Atreus loves his pops so much that his beginning outfit has a red line wrapping around his left shoulder imitating his dad's tattoo.
If you go back to freya's camp and talk to the guy that jumps off the boat and becomes a side quest in the crater she ends up asking him to look after the turtle and then you can go back to the turtle and I'll let you figure out the rest
Birgir can move to Chaurli after you rescue him from the Crater and finish the game
Atreus doesn't "transform" Fenrir's soul into Garm's body. He IMPLANTS or TRANSFERS Fenrir's soul into Garm's body. Get it right!
In norse mythos, are there any ways Mimir could get a new body?
did anyone notice that Angrboda’s painting when she first meets Atreus looks like an Egyptian giving him an Ankh?
So we've got a dìner, a lùnch, and a birgir.. am I missing any?
Time to find a creature named Brækfast!
Damn I didn't miss a damn thing
Egypt architect Ankh, when you do Sigrun Side Quest in Midgard
so after tediously searching and finding then killing the 48 ravens , and getting excited about this raven keeper to possibly be a boss fight , and it's just a revenant reskin ? seriously ?
After you leave heimdall and odin to their conversation of your failure you can get some dialogue by going back to the door when you leave
#2. Rescue Birgir after he jumps from Freyrs boat in Story, yhen talk to him back at camp in Vanaheim. Do this before the ending and he'll already be there as Atreus would've clued him in. Do it after meeting Chaurli with Freya and she'll tell him.
That scar on thor's belly doesn't heal because jormungandres poison is imbued in to the axe in the first game when you throw your weapon in the lake.
Kratos let's out a slightly bigger chuckle when he talks to Angrboda in Jotunheim about her drawing skills, she then says Atreus/Loki can do it he just needs discipline, to which Kratos chuckles and says 'I like you'.
There is another Kratos chuckling moment. Post game, if you visit jotunheim and interact with a painting, Agroboda tells Kratos that Atreus needs more discipline to paint better. He chuckles at the comment and says “I like you”
If you save birgir in the crater, he would take care of chaurli
The crazy thing is more people have killed gna than find the realm flowers
I love how the whole time we think Tyr will be the god of war to lead the war with his spear. Even after Kratos gets the spear I didn’t think he’d be the actual god of war that leads it. Great twist.
If you go to the camp in the jungle the swordsman who jumped off the flying boat into two wyvern is thier and apon approaching him with frya. The swordsman explains he wants a quiet place to retire and frya infers that he could settle down at or in Charly.
Post-game Lunda at random shops will mention seeing something in Alfheim. If you go there you'll see Thrud able to pick up Mjolnir and then fly away.
You can then go to derelict outpost in midgard to find Skjoldr and have a conversation with him, it's pretty amusing
How could you miss that the warrior you save, lives in the turtle's house?
I wish that you can play as Thor and learn more about him in DLC. He is such a badass character.
i rather see what his daughter is doing after the story it’s hinted that she might be training with sigrun to become a valkyrie
@@devinblack9220 you can see her again after the game ends in one of the realms doing something
after you rescue birgir, you can go back to the camp and talk to him and then, if you go back to chaurli he will actually be there taking care of him
Birgir will take care of Char if you rescue him and then talk to him at the camp during the post game
well according to another video there is Sinmara's character and dialogue that was cut from the final cut but still available in the game file.
When Fenrir dies in the begining, his soul floats out and one of the pieces goes into the knife. Its a blink and you'll miss scene.
Also with ratatoskr, if you hit the chime while as Atreus bitter tells him that only the axe will call him and answers to whose balls have dropped
#2 Traveler guy will be at freya's house. This will happen after atreus conversation with him at the camp
Not to mention Tyrs name when Odin was him compared to real Tyr. The real Tyr has the symbol above the Y and even when hes talked about but when odin talks as him it does have that
Mimir: “Brother I once heard that you lost a fight to a strange warrior clad in azure armor with horns who uses a gravedigger’s tool as his weapon.”
Kratos: *“I WOULD NOT SPEAK OF THIS!”*
Im so glad she wasnt a boss fight! Probably the coolest looking beast in my book!
When kratos knocks out Thor's tooth it remains on the ground for the rest of the game.
I haven’t seen anyone talk about how when you ride back home at the start it’s the same as when you sail home at the start of 2018. It’s the same cave only it’s frozen now bc of fimbulwinter.
Talking to birgir in freyr’s camp after you save him causes freya to suggest that he stays with chaurli
14:55 - I doubt that one of the opening scenes of the entire game is one of the "secrets and details you may have missed," but okay.
Mimir's story of two brothers is directly taken from Rumi's fables
i wish there were more big boss fights like gram and nidhogg
The traveler dude who jumped on the dragons is supposed to go live in the turtle
