Amazing how talented gun makers were back then, no computers, just brilliant designers and machinists

And with all of today's technology, they can't make an aesthetically pleasing design. They have no vision for beauty, just "functionality".

I have 2 of these. First one I inherited. In rougher shape than the one shown in video. Came with about 100 rounds. It’s a good shooter. The second rifle I got buy luck. Many years later I was in a local gun shop and they were going thru tons of rifles they were selling as part of an estate sale. This 1903 is in almost perfect condition with a era correct Lyman peep sight. Offered them only $200( that was all I had on me lol) and the owner delightedly sold it to me. Turns out both the 1903’s I own are about 150 apart according to the serial numbers.
Also about 5 years ago I was in a different gun shop and end up spotting a bunch of 22 automatic ammo sitting on his shelf of ammo for sale. All of it was Winchester. The 50 round boxes he had marked down to $4.95 because it had been sitting for years and he wanted to get rid of it. Believe it ended up being 400 rounds, that I got for $40
I’ve had a lot of luck concerning this rifle and it’s cartridge

Love old Winchesters, usually they are lever guns. But not always, as you proved. Just around fifty years ago, working part-time at a small gun shop, I would spend the occasional weekend at our local show. THEN this and other older firearms were in abundance. We had two tables and maybe three firearms were new. Thanks for the reminder!

I have on of these that I inherited from my grandfather, I even have several boxes of Winchester 22 Automatic in their original boxes, along with some loose rounds. My grandfather died in 1975 so I have had this rifle a longe time and will never part with it. I know he used it around his home to get rid of garden pests, however, it is no longer legal to shoot any type of rifle here on Long Island , NY due to the population density. It is only allowed on a licensed range.

Well, the upside is that you may not always live in NY. Life is funny that way - just saying.

Beutiful rifle. I coverted mine to take 22 lr ammo. Using a very oldpedal lathe and files to make the three necessary pieces.

Nice, then yours is under serial number 5000 ish and does not have a saftey. around serial number 5000 (sometime in 1904) Winchester added a Saftey.

Well apparently RUclips didn’t approve my previous comment so here we go again. Beautiful gun. Interesting how Winchester got around pd the bolt handle Patient with the plunger activated bolt. I may have a source of what your looking for to make this functional. Let me know if you interested and we can work out how to get the contract info to you outside the realm of big brother tube! Thanks for sharing!

Some mom & pop gun shop is bound to have some. No telling how many you'd have to call before you found any. The alternative would be to find and buy a model 63.

Ewww, a scary semi- auto rifle, thats 120 yrs old, I wonder if all the anti- gunners will ever study history an realize that they have been around for 120 yrs, not just in AR's. Nice example of old school quality, but I like wood an steel old school squirrel rifles. Thx for the vid
