Well done mate! I want to say- you don't give yourself enough credit. Moving up that many places on the last lap is INSANELY hard at Hillingdon. You have a great eye for a line and clearly used just enough power at the right spot to finish in the points. Genuinely impressive stuff. As for the crashing- it seems to be getting worse than ever. You probably don't want me discussing the reasons and the solutions in your comments section but maybe (and clearly this isn't directed at you) Trainerroad should actually schedule bumping drills done outside into their schedule 🤣 Hopefully catch up soon. Well done again 🎉
Thanks 🫡 and haha they should 😆 a lot of ballsy stuff at Hillingdon for sure. Funnily enough the last heap of races I did last year there was no crashes. I raced yesterday at Swindon (video be up soon), and delightfully no crashes 😃 Did you race at Hillingdon yesterday at Full Gas? If so how did you get on?
@@michaelgraycycling yes! It was actually embarrassing 😳 🤣 I thought riding there, doing the 40+ masters and the 2,3,4 race and riding home (from Thatcham) was achievable 🤔 Yeah- it wasn’t 🤣 Had a nice dig off the front in one race (316np in the masters race!) and then got dropped hard in the second when the cat 2’s lit it up. Nice 130 mile day though 🙄🤣
@@crosshaircycling7156 holy crap fair play. I was considering riding there from Reading in the summer and back. So you’ve def inspired me with that feat! Best friends live in Thatcham and I sometimes ride there on my routes. What’s your Strava link?
@@michaelgraycycling yeah Hillingdon is really “flowy”, easy to get swamped! I was a couple wheels behind you, you can just see me in your rear just before the first crash, swerved out the way of that, then swerved the second crash; race was done after swerving the first though! Skipping tonight but will probably be back next week 👍🏾
So much better than the last time. With time you will start to recognize who are the strongest riders and teams. Just have patience. You need to work on staying in the first 10 or so. DO NOT SIT AT THE BACK! All the crashes then are in front of you. Trust me. The effort you use to stay at the back is greater than the effort to stay up front. Did you get Eddy B's book yet?
I’ve actually been meaning to go through the comments of the last video to find your last one for the book. So I’ll do that now 👊 and yes totally agree plus smoother lines! In fact I did a video last year of the things I learnt in my first year of racing and sticking near the front was one of them. And yes patience is a virtue!
@@justinbrown6558 yup that's him and his book. I followed it like the cycling bible. Took me from a beginner to a Class A racer in Europe in two years. Saved me a lot of heart ache.
@@colinadendorff4495 thanks for the encouragement. Even though I remember most of the principles from the book, I’d still like to re-read it again as after 34 yrs, I’ve decided to start racing again! This wasn’t a decision that I rushed into…I had a bike fit, had a consultation with a coach, am seeing a physio (to cure several long standing weaknesses from a poor riding position), am investing in a power meter to track my progress, etc, etc. And have found a copy of the book, and have ordered it. 👍🏻

@@michaelgraycycling 4th. Only raced here a couple of times but brought back good memories. Anticlockwise was less hectic as you race up the "hill" to finish.
Yea pretty tight, requires to have your wits about you. But have you seen some of the races in Belgium? @jasper has some super tight roads on his videos
@@michaelgraycycling yeah if I were racing that course I would be sitting in back the whole time just in for the workout. I'm just not brave enough to go up those size with such a narrow gap between the next rider and the grass.
@@lexington476 yea it’s a bit ballsy. I spent the whole race just floating at the back. Although if you can stay top 5 wheels too it’s also normally a really safe place on this course. Safer than where I was to be fair, however I didn’t want to get drawn into chasing 😆
