Hello Michael, I'm 65 recently retired and a few months ago made up my mind to finally learn to play guitar. Taking lessons and watching videos, still suck but getting there. Your videos keep inspiring me but you plays Every Day People blew me away! I look forward each day to seeing what is next.

i have a 1996 goldtop "limited edition" w humbuckers...2,000 made, gibson told me it mite b a precursor to the '57 reissue a year later...cheers all!!!
Before we get anywhere near how awesome that R6 is, this is what I'm prioritizing in my comment. I always knew that Lemmo was a killer musician. Not just anyone can transition this smoothly from Cream to Boston to Van Halen. It wasn't remotely as simple as just switching between the pickups, was it?
Got Dad's 57 Les Paul standard and his 335 Gibson. That was in 65. Am now 65. Don't need anything else. Got his 1955 Fender amp. Tubes. Just bought a 65 Vox. I'm done 👍
Another incredible guitar, every versatile and has a ton a bite when needed. Impressive playing as we have come to expect. It motivates me to keep practicing!

My uncle bob had 2 guitars a 58 lpj and a 59 gold top. The lpj is around and I could get it but it is not in playable condition as the neck is warped. It has mushrooms carved on the back of it and some other stuff back from the 60s. It is boxed up and has been so long since I have seen it. The gold top got painted red somewhere along the way. That is the guitar that he had me strum the first one that I ever strummed. Still playing today. Not that guitar but I have one and a copy of my first electric. One day, one day I will have a great guitar set up, one day. And thinks for tell me that someone was messing with me. It is alright they are not the first and will not be the last. Its difficult in believing because of things like that, but it does not stop me from wanting to and watching. Always a great time and it is good to have something to look forward to everyday. You should definitely go get that thing out of the box! Watch a couple repair/setup vids on here(like Dave's World of Fun Stuff) and just evaluate how bad it is.
i might have the year wrong I have a picture of it will have to find it with him it is an old black and white pic. You are more likely right than I am but it was gold and it had the soap bars I know that he had this song I'm just a hobo that he use to play that was something that stuck with me I have a copy of the song on tape somewhere if I can find it but no tape player. it has several songs on that tape. anyway think you for taking you time and listening. Brings back a lot of memories. His son played in a band in the late 60's early 70's and hand painted over the gold top to make it red. He has the guitar still it is in sc he said that he was going to send it back to the factory to get it restored.
@@danielefird3680 The goldtop finish was between 1952 and 1957. It was revived in the late 60s with a couple of different pickup configurations. Depending on the configuration, it could be a mid 50s or late 60s model. Pretty easy to tell.

Sounds goods...everyone thinks of humbuckers with les pauls, but p90s have a harmonically rich sound powerful and natural to the ear...Mr Lemmo found his stairway on the doubleneck and now its back to pioneering Van Halen on different axes. I am liking the inclusion of Brandon more, he is a point of reference for different guitars histories. I have come to terms with not winning a T Shirt, but doing new stuff on my Channel - new jazz bass instrumental 'Chromatic possibilities'. A Good vibe happening at norms, nice to see.the Cat.
It's funny how something that is beat to s#it is now called reliced and people pay triple the price. I have 04 wine red lp standard and the finish checked I was devastated I can't imagine paying someone to do that to a beautiful guitar.
Considering the price of an original 🤔 not a bad option but still short of the real tone via real 56,overall great instrument and better than most...... some of the 56 pop outs have the Grover tuning pegs, which makes me ask the question did Gibson actually use both? Some 55 originals also had tune O matic bridge, and left over 68 Les Paul's had been made of recovered 56 models, it can get messy trying to figure this all out due to the 🔥 fire at Gibson manufacturers records had been lost in the Gibson factory office section ... Take care...and keep up the good work..
