Thank you so much for the video. I’m planning to purchase my very first DSLR which is Nikon D750 along with 85mm 1.8 + 50mm 1.8 G lens. I’m wondering is it still worth to buy this camera considering 5 years old?. The concern I have is from D750 is - 1. Slower AF, 2. Shutter speed 1/4000 which is half the D780/Z6ii/Z5 1/8000. Are these show stopper for D750?. Purpose of buying a camera is for taking Portraits, Still, Landscape, Bird, Product photography (learning) and of course my kids. It would be really great if you throw some lights on my concern to make a wise decision.... other options I have considered is Nikon D780 with one of the lens and Z6ii with the kit lens... apart from D780 and Z6ii I have been suggesting to go with D850 with the kit lens. Thank you and looking forward to your suggestion.
@Borrowed Time yeah but why don't they just leave it in 6k? They talk about how 4k requires a lot of processing but if it's being downsampled then that's double the processing..

It records n-log only externally, so it's basically the same d750 If Nikon will update n-log internal this camera will have it's place (even Sony a6300 has internal log)
@@TL-xw6fh You might be a lucky one or haven't used the camera extensively cause way too many people report the same problem. Magically it's not that common on Canon cameras.
Keep in mind the Z lenses can be up to 10X more cost than good used F mounts lenses. Using an adapter in the mix using a Z body makes it hard to change out lenses also. Also low cost screw drive lenses, that work well, will not focus with a Z body.
@@satyayaya14 I'd consider the D750 unless you really need the extra features. It all depends on how much money you have to spend if you want to buy more than one lens and how you are using them.. Nobody seems to mention this since the cost of the body is not a big factor in the overall spending. I have about 10 lenses, many D series screw drives. They still make some of them new and tons are used online in EC. Most are pretty sharp with good contrast.
The prices of these can be 1/10 the cost of a Z lens. They are simpler with no motor or VR to go bad in them. The D series 28-105mm f3.5 -f4.5 macro is going for $100 or less in great condition but the f4 24 -70mm Z lens is going for $1000! It is not much sharper if it is at all from the tests I have studied. The Z bodies do not allow any screw drive lenses to auto focus. Using the adapter with f mounts also means you will have 2 lenses + the adapter and the camera body to hold while changing from F to Z mount lenses and back again. Try that during a wedding. So it really matters on several factors, for me I am saving over $10,000 in lenses staying with all f mounts and no adapter to deal with than going all Z.
Pretty sure you won't see any noticeable image quality over the D750. But I would go for the D780, being newer tech. Lack of flash is a bit of a bummer for me. But Nikon always do this, just miss out on making a really great camera. Of course it's all about money, trying to get people to pay over the odds, just to get all the features they want. I'm going to stick with my D750, and D7500 till they break!
No battery grip option would be weird T4i camera at this level. Tell me it ain't so. Are they expecting a wired connection to the side of the body with one?
You'll always have the snappy af sound with the built-in mic. Af seems to be much better than Z6's, which loses many times its face recognition function. When the girl is in front of the camera only can we see a little slow af function. I think d780's af system is the best for video until this day.
D750 no. of shots is rated with camera flash at 50% while the d780 has no flash so obviously it will rate better in no. Of shots but that no. Is misleading because of that
I was hoping for the same but it's still quite expensive. How about trying to find something second hand? You could get some really good deals on used stuff. Because of the pricing I decided to go on ebay and I've bought my d750 two days ago - just 4k shutter count, excellent condition and a 50mm 1.8G lens - and I paid just a fraction of price of the new set :) The quality (both image and camera itself) is just amazing!
MC Hammer I’ve had my D750 for about 3 years. Never had a shutter issue but got it done anyway just in case. It’s my favorite camera ever. I now have an a6400 and I do like the idea of Mirrorless but that image quality can’t compare to the D750 especially in lower light. The D750 is just so clean. I’ve tried 1.4 lenses on the Sony and I can’t produce what the Nikon puts out. I get that it’s full frame vs crop but it’s not even same ball park. Congrats on your new body. 👍🏻
@@GRJCLyon Thanks! I've checked my camera's serial number with Nikon service and they said that it's not affected by the shutter problem. So fingers crossed it will be ok too. Regarding image quality, my observations were exactly the same - it feels like DSLRs have more depth and the image looks a bit more 3D-like. I've moved from my 12-year old D60 so D750 is like a whole different universe :) I'm glad that you are happy with it too! I think that it is a sensible compromise between the latest technology and the price point. You are not getting all of the goodies that come with mirrorless cameras (IBIS, focus peaking, EVF etc.) but you do get a top-notch image quality, great handling and wide choice of lenses with D750. Sounds great to me! :)
MC Hammer good deal on the serial number. I think that means they replaced the shutter before they were sold so you should be good. I agree with the 3D look too. Don’t get me wrong the Mirrorless does take amazing photos but yes they do make images a bit “flat.” Yes, Mirrorless does have its advantages. I will say focus peaking is great. I also like the no delay in the DSLR view finder though. Ibis can be obtained with Vr lenses for the DSLR so for Mirrorless it’s only a perk if you want the newest glass. Now the Z6 I keep hearing is better than the D750. I haven’t had one to confirm that but we’re also talking double the price. D750 will be around for a long tome like the D700. 👍🏻
@S Tra .really??Well, let's enter the land of reality, not opinionated make believe.Olympus and Pentax have great IBIS,so perhaps you are talking about that Zseries/recalled IBIS.IBIS gets awesome ,steady shots, and if one knows how to brace a camera they can shoot handheld anyway..Now,when you debunk IBIS with some facts, come back to the adult section.

what is the point make a camera half dslr half mirrorless! 12 fps but with live view its disappointing. who use this mode for sports? i use only for macro. other side little bit better iso performance and off course new technology is it worth 2300$ ? is it possible to know how many photos we can take before until buffer fulled! d750 also has a 6,5 fps but you can just take 15 photos continuously! thank you also for video
💥😤💥 No pop up flash. Damn. As a portrait photographer I’ve been to many personal events where I’ve used the pop up flash on my 750 for a little fill light in certain low light conditions. Big deal breaker for me.
I shoot a lot. Macro, worms eye view shots, more creative shots taken at weird angles. This slow AF in live view in older Nikon cameras is one of the reasons why people are switching to mirrorless. It's not only about size. So the new AF in d780 is a big deal.
Well based on what we have seen so far the AF sound is caused by F-mount lenses. To my knowing, if you want really silent video AF you have to go with Z glass.
Van Balais Ricci Talks on YT had one for a while to use and says the video focusing is just as good as his Z6 and Z7. Look him up on YT if you haven’t come across him since you posted this.
Is there a battery grip for the Nikon D780 and is there a battery grip for the eos 90d. Which camera should I buy as a beginner who is interested in enthusiast DSLR.
@S Tra I go by actual performance and not specs. So till it comes out for the public, it's somewhat pointless to go back and forth about specs. For example, the D5 has excellent specs, yet it wasn't that great of a performer for the price based on my experience shooting with the camera. I am not saying D780 will not be a good camera. What I am saying it doesn't offer anything significant enough for me to pay 3k. If the D780 does borrow the AF from the D5, the video AF is not going to be consistent, and the 120fps isn't something I use often enough to even bother with. So if I do need an extra camera, the D850, which I can find for $1800 minty used, is a better option for me personally.
@@albertocabrera6614 the d850 is a 3K camera..any 1850 dollar camera will be a banged up 100,000 shutter hand me down. Can't compare that 850 too new and expensive. Costs a lot more than the D780. Will it break video into 4GB files like Z6? Will D780 allow dual video (4k) recording to both cards? I know it'll allow dual stills capture, but D750 only recorded 1080 to one card.
Hi, I recently read somewhere that the Z6 does not split the files if the memory card is 64GB or larger. If that's true maybe the same applies to the D780
@@TonyNeat Thank you Tony, could you pass along that link? I'm seeing the 4GB max everywhere, with a lot of reviewers using 32GB cards. However I'm seeing nothing about a exception with 64GB+ cards.

I tell you a secret? If you buy the Z6 (With the adapter) you will save 500 USD and you will have all functions available in the electronic viewfinder and the screen. You will be able to use your F-mount lenses and the new Z-mount lenses. When the lenses with 1.2 aperture come out, you will only be able to use them on the Z6, Z7 or other Nikon mirrorless. And not to mention ibis stabilization
Using an adapter is fine if you are not using any new Z lenses, but having to deal with three things to hold + the body in a lens change out from Z to F mount and back is a real pain. Also the older screw drive lenses in EC can be up to 10X less money then that of a new Z lens, they do not auto focus on Z bodies.
It is a shame that the autofocus system on the Nikon Z6 is just not really good enough. I had hoped that they would be able to improve it through firmware upgrades by now. Sadly they have not been able to improve it enough for me. So I was interested in this D780. But if the video is not stable enough, then I will have to pass on this camera as well.
exactly.. why would someone get this camera over a sony a7iii? You get all this on the sony and also IBIS. Nikon is just soooo slow on implementing features other cam manufacturers implemented years ago.
@@quickpickle The rumours have the A7 iv being released late Feb. Is Sony can improve the weather sealing, improve the rear LCD, upgrade the EVF, and improve the feel and ergonomics to Nikon levels, then I will buying that one.
@@quickpickle have you ever tried a Nikon? I'm a Nikon shooter and tried the A73/A7r3 and I was disappointed by the files: they looked too digital like from a crappy entry level Nikon aps-c. I don't care about video either. If I did, I'd buy a camcorder. People tend to forget these cameras were made for stills while adding options to do video at all. Now stills cameras are rated on how many options there are for video. Ridiculous.
It is the camera I was waiting for and I would have grabbed it the day it was available in the market. Definitely it is a marriage of both worlds of DSLR and convenience of the Mirrorless camera. Yes it is the best in its segment. But the problem is everybody is not vlogger but a photographer. It could have easily expanded its market even more had Nikon made the D780 vertical grip compatibe. They lose the market for those photographer who wanted to upgrade to full frame dslr and not migrate to mirrorless but could not jump to D800/810 or 850.Nikon failed its photographer who had been loyal to it, maybe it got carried away by the current trend of youtubers requirements and forgot those who had been loyal for many decades.
Go for d800, d750, d810 these could be tough starter FX bodies but if money isnt the problem. I would go for d850 if you not so video person. I literally bought my d800 used for $430 dollars and boy I loved it. But now I use fuji xt3 and z6 which are good too
I have the 750 and 850. The 850 is an absolute beast (the 750 was too when it was released, but it's starting to show its age a bit). That said, the 850 may not the best fit for your needs. It's a fair bit larger in size, weight, and of course cost. While the 850 raw files are great to work with, they are more than twice the size as well. I added another drive in my computer so I can continue being lazy regarding culling images. If you have the cash to splash and the things I mentioned are not a concern, the 850 is definitely a workhorse. Honestly though, I personally don't need 46mp images. I do a lot of night time milky-way photos, and I think the low light performance of the 780 is likely better than the 850. Starting over today, I'd choose the 780 because of what I like to shoot.
@@captain_crunk my question for you is, which of the two, d850 vs d750, is the winner in dim light situation when high iso's are required? Is there a big difference or are they close?
I really think that Nikon should've kept investing in Mirrored cameras because this camera Is night and day compared to their Z series cameras. (This opinion comes from a Micro Four Thirds shooter)
As a user of a D750 for a couple years now, I see no legit reason to upgrade to a D780. When I'm ready to upgrade, it must be the D850. But I guess crop senor users my want to upgrade to the D780? (Edit: Thanks for the video).
They should have just made a mirrorless F mount camera that had an electronic viewfinder. Having an optical viewfinder isn't what still attracts current users to Nikon DSLRs, it's being able to use their collection of F mount lenses. That optical viewfinder is going to be a downside to most users because of the old, inferior AF that goes along with it.
it is indeed a smashing camera. there really is no need to "upgrade" every 36 months. back in the day.. i had my fm2 for over a decade in regular use. personally im waiting for a z6 mk2. i really hope they make the bridge bigger and have a round eye piece like the old days. the rubber eye cup is sorely missed. bigger bridge means better fill flash & screen. the z series primes look fantastic from what ive seen so far.

£1400 on the grey market here in the UK. It's going to be my next camera.
Video shot in 6k then downsampled? Doesn't that take more processing to do that?
@Borrowed Time yeah but why don't they just leave it in 6k? They talk about how 4k requires a lot of processing but if it's being downsampled then that's double the processing..
@Borrowed Time someone needs to hack these cameras and put some custom firmware in there.
@Borrowed Time maybe when we get a quantum computer.

Hi.. Is this camera good for shooting sports?? #digiDirect
now im confused what to choose..z6 or d780 to replace my not so old d750..
how the high iso capability and the dynamic range, which one the best?
Keep in mind the Z lenses can be up to 10X more cost than good used F mounts lenses. Using an adapter in the mix using a Z body makes it hard to change out lenses also. Also low cost screw drive lenses, that work well, will not focus with a Z body.
@@jacobl6572 so should i pick d780 instead?
Even the D80/D90 had provisions for a battery grip....
You'll always have the snappy af sound with the built-in mic. Af seems to be much better than Z6's, which loses many times its face recognition function. When the girl is in front of the camera only can we see a little slow af function. I think d780's af system is the best for video until this day.
i realize it is kind of off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released tv shows online?
The lens you used to shoot these videos is it slient when autofocusing?
Show me
D750 no. of shots is rated with camera flash at 50% while the d780 has no flash so obviously it will rate better in no. Of shots but that no. Is misleading because of that
waited for this camera to get the D750 because i thought the price would go down but it didn't. The d780 price is way too high.
Nikon is not stupid. They know what they're doing with pricing.

is the continuous autofocus of video good as z6? or there is a snappy sound like the d750 whent it is in continuous af in liveview,
Well based on what we have seen so far the AF sound is caused by F-mount lenses. To my knowing, if you want really silent video AF you have to go with Z glass.

The air in Melbourne looks surprisingly breathable. Must be a southerly.

Agree. It makes more sense to shoot video on the Z6.
It is a shame that the autofocus system on the Nikon Z6 is just not really good enough. I had hoped that they would be able to improve it through firmware upgrades by now.
