    LOVE YOUR VIDEO! I have had the classic D750 since it first came out, and it has served me very well, despite haveing a little wear and tear on the body::
    Therefore I am looking at the D780 and the D850, and keeping my 750 as a back up: but the price of the 850 is prohibiitive! LOL
    Anyway, I appreciate your comparison review of the 780 znd the 750...many thanks! 😎 HG from Chicago

    I recently purchased a D750 as I mainly wanted a low light photo upgrade from my crop sensor Canon 200D ii (Rebel SL3 in USA). I would have liked a D780 - a friend has one and yes the video is great - but it just came down to the cost savings. I saved about $1500 Australian by going for the 750 vs the 780 , at the cost of good video. The video on the 750, even at "high" quality and 1080 / 30 is only something like 24Mbps (it's not very detailed at all). I'm very happy with the photo quality though combined with Nikon 24-120 F4 lens. I've taken some decent lightning shots and experimented with some basic astrophotography too.

    • @TymekStolarz

      Yes for Photo the D750 basically just as good as the 780, with only a few differences that aren't really worth the extra cost. And if you mainly only need photo, and video would have just been an extra, saving $1,500 AUD is huge! I am glad you are enjoying the D750 :) moving to full frame is always a huge upgrade.

    It's the first time I saw your video today. One thing has really impressed me most, that is, you have been very patient and really spend time responding to every viewer's questions and subsequent questions. Not only that, your answers are insightful and detailed from real world experience. I am a Nikon user for many years and I have D3, D5100 and Nikon 1 V1 and J5 and native lenses. I have been hesitant for months to buy a D750 (for 24 MB sensor and tilting lcd which are lacking in D3) and maintain dslr system or sell all current Nikon gear and switch to Nikon mirrorless system. After reading every viewer's comments and yours, it is clear for me to get D750 and continue using dslr as the Nikon mirrorless system is beyond my budget if I were to purchase mirrorless lenses like for like to replace dslr lenses.

      Good morning :) Thank you very much. Part of why i started this channel is because everyone i know doesn't care about cameras, tech, lighting, video etc.. so talking with people, and answering peoples questions about what I make videos on is one of the best parts of this channel :) It also makes me feel good to know that i've been able to help someone out, and its great to see someone notice that i put that effort in! So thank you once again.
      Yea if you already have a collection of DSLR lenses, it definitely makes sense to stick with that system because you will take a huge hit on your return, and wont be able to get as much gear if you switched over. The D750 is still very much a great camera that produces professional photos, and if you are not bothered by the slightly larger size and weight, lower quality video capabilities/ video autofocus, There aren't so many reasons to make the switch.
      I wish you the best of luck in your creative endeavours and if you ever have any questions, i will always be happy to answer them to my best ability.

      I personally would go with the full frame d750, but I may be bias as I never used the d500. I know that if given a choice most people will go for full frame as you could probably argue it’s “more professional”

    • @lamwp8634
      @lamwp8634 3 года назад

      I would go for D750 simply because it delivers outstanding performance in low light without flash which is my genre photography. Street scenes, people working indoors or outdoors are my favourite subjects. The D750 and D500 both have 24MP sensor but D750 sensor has larger surface area (full format 36x24) than D500 DX. Therefore D750 pixels are larger and delivers better image quality. From my experience, my D3 only 12MP full format delivers better image quality than my D5100 DX which is 16MP. Larger pixels perform better. I maybe wrong.

    The massive difference in number of shots taken with the battery is due to the D780 not having a built in flash. When rating battery performance the flash is used on every other shot if the camera has a integrated flash.

    Presently my main camera is the D850 and my second general purpose camera is the Z5. As much as the Z5 is a fantastic body and great deal (with IBIS), I have not been entirely impressed with it's ergonomics coming from a traditional layout of SLR/DSLRs and Fuji retro X system.. I am looking to replace it with either the D780 or D750 as I only own F mount glass for all my nikons.
    The D780 seems to be the practical choice and more future proofed.
    Curious about the "warm" handling of the D780, hope you could expand on that issue. Is it an over heating issue or just the shell radiating heat from sun exposure on a bright day?

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  2 года назад

      so it may just have been a personal thing - but i felt that the material is made from a slightly different plastic. so holding the D780 seemed to warm up in my hand a little faster than the d750 - however i've never had any issues with the camera overheating or anything like that.

I have done a few events but would like to go full-frame and do this as a part-time profession. I can purchase a 2nd hand D750 for $1110 - 47000 shutter count and a D780 2nd hand for $1740 with a 30000 shutter count or a brand new D780 for $2350 Don't know what route to go. Prices might seem steeper, (from South Africa) I currently own a Sigma 70 - 200 F2.8 and Nikon 35mm 1.8

      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад +1

      I may be bias but I always prefer to go new. That way it comes with the warranty and if you have any issues it can be dealt with. You also have the piece of mind that the camera hasn’t been dropped or anything like that ( even if there is no exterior damage). 30k shutter isn’t too bad when the life is apparently 150k, but if you have the extra funds I would go for the new 780. It will last you a very long time and have more life. But if that isn’t an option then I’d still go for the d780 over the 750

    I'm still stuck with an ancient d80 and looking for an upgrade between these 2. In my country a used d750 is half the price of a new d780 (which isn't really available on the 2nd hand market yet) and I rarely shoot videos. The price difference is really tempting, but I'm kinda interested in the AF in live-view. tough decision to make.

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      That’s a tough one. If most of your use is photo anyway the d780 may not be worth the extra cash, But If you want live view AF for photos then you won’t have a very good time with the d750. It’s just very slow and hunts a lot. It’ll work but not well lol.

    • @davidyu1813
      @davidyu1813 3 года назад

      @@TymekStolarz the main reason I want to upgrade to a dslr rather than a mirror-less is that I prefer ovf over evf, so live-view AF isn't really necessary (I've been using the d80 which doesn't even have live-view anyways). It's just hard for me to say no to new fancy tech lol (especially after watching your comparison of the live-view AF).

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      I thought i liked OVF more than EVF as well as the very first camera i owned had one. but it was very old and laggy so moving to the D750 i really liked the OVF. I picked up the A7S III a few months ago and the EVF on that thing, and i am assuming a lot of the new mirrorless cameras was actually really nice to use. I dont use it very often for photos but i do like it.

    • @davidyu1813
      @davidyu1813 3 года назад

      @@TymekStolarz yh maybe new mirror less cameras have better evf but are also more expensive. I tried my friend's A7M3 which has similar price as d780 and I didn't like the evf on it. Thanks for the video Tymek. Isn't it the most different feature 900 seconds shutter speed? Is there any camera around that gives 900 secs shutter speed? So is it possible for you to show us this feature more in detail?

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      Good afternoon Aydin :) I personally wouldn't say the 900 seconds is the biggest difference - for me i think the biggest difference between the two cameras is the video modes. (4k, and 120fps at 1080p). 900 is definitely a lot of time, but it doesn't look like a lot of Nikon cameras have it.
      Looking at some other Nikon cameras most of them can only do 30 seconds (D500, D7500, Z6, even the D850). The only others that i see having 900 seconds are the new D6 and the Z6II and Z7II. even with a 30 second shutter you can capture a lot of light even in the black of night. If you were doing astrophotography for instance, 30 seconds in focal lengths over 17mm on a full frame camera will already be too long of a shutter speed (the stars will start to streak and become blurry).

    • @Aydin0812
      @Aydin0812 3 года назад

      @@TymekStolarz Thanks Tymek for your answer. As you said 900 secs only in latest models that's why I said it is different. I am already using D750 so 900 secs looks different to me. Since I don't use video so 120fps is not interesting for me.

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      Oh sorry, I thought you meant if the 900 second shutter was the biggest difference between the two cameras, which i suppose is a little subjective. I just double checked my notes and the photo related differences between the D780 and the D750 would also be: 1)D780 has a 1/8000 of a second shutter vs. 1/4000, 2) significantly better autofocus in live few photography because the d780 now has phase detection AF, 3) D780 can take UHS-II cards which will clear you buffer much quicker than a UHS-I card. 4) 7 frames per second continuous shooting vs 6.5 frames per second. 5) back-side illuminated sensor for better low light performance, and an ISO range of 100-51200 vs. 100-12800 on the d750, 6) focus stacking option up to 300 photos on the d780.
      i think those are all the major photo related differences between the two cameras.

    • @Aydin0812
      @Aydin0812 3 года назад

      @@TymekStolarz Thanks Tymek really those are the things related with me. Like 900secs 1/8000 is also important difference and the other items as you listed. Focus stacking is also interesting, so far I read it doesn't combine the photos only automatically changes the focus points, right? So because of those pandemic conditions here in Istanbul I can't go and check myself that's why taking your time thanks again. As a result what is your personal opinion Tymek is it worth to upgrade my old D750 to D780?

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      That is correct, it just generates the photos and you have to stitch them together in post. That is a tough one. Personally for me, those features are not enough to upgrade. As i mentioned earlier the biggest reason for me was the video capabilities, and i think they are the biggest changes between the D750 and D780 overall. The D750 is still able to do A LOT that the D780 can. If i wanted to upgrade specifically the photo features of the camera, i would be looking at the D850, or the new mirrorless cameras. Thats where i think are the biggest upgrades to photo that would justify the upgrade (however i do understand that they are expensive, and the mirrorless cameras are a completely different lens system). I guess it just depends on how often you are shooting the shutter extremes (30 seconds and 1/4000s) and wish you could shoot for a little longer or faster, or want to use live view for photography, or any of the other things i listed. If its regularly, then it might be worth making the upgrade.

      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад +1

      Good morning :) The D7500 really does have a lot more updated features over the 750 having been released 3 years after. I think it mostly comes down to what you want out of the camera. If you are mainly into photography, and want the absolute best pictures, the D750 is a really great camera. A full frame camera in my opinion will usually have the edge overall. But if you are more hybrid, and want to shoot a decent amount of video as well, the D7500 might be the better option. The d7500 will still be able to produce really great images and with the updated features and significantly better video capabilities, it might be a better pick overall. Once again it just comes down to what you mainly want to use the camera for. Keep in mind lenses will generally be cheaper on cropped than the full frame options, but then again the selection of super quality glass will be much more abundant on full frame over a cropped sensor.

      Tak, wydaje się, że wszyscy bardziej skupiają się na bezlusterkowcach. Ale jeśli używasz D780 głównie w trybie podglądu na żywo, to w zasadzie jest to aparat bezlusterkowy.

    D750 is a very enjoyable Camera & besides D780 being without flash, its more desirable for Landscapes.

     @Tymek Stolarz I own the D750, coming from a D500, and was slightly "miffed" because I was so used to having the focus points reach from edge-to-edge. The "Deal Breaker" on the D750 is it's WMU!! The darn thing really is crap, compared to Snap Bridge. EVERY time you connect to the D750 via WMU, it HAS to populate and pull down every image from the camera, regardless as to if you already have it in the device you're currently using.
    As of the posting of this comment, the D780 has an instant rebate of $300, bring the MSRP-US to $1999. I get mine at the end of this month.

      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад +1

      It’s been a while since I last used the d750 but I do recall it having some issues. I can’t say SnapBridge is the best software either but still very functional, I use it all the time for my thumbnails. I find the connection is a little bit finicky but overall it gets the job done eventually. That’s awesome, the d780 is a great camera and if you shoot any video light years better than the 750. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate you sharing :)

      You're right about the video on the d750. But, I truly did enjoy the content of this video. It was one of the factors solidifying me to get my d780 at the end of this month. I just learned about two drawbacks for the d780: no vertical grip/battery grip and it doesn't have a "knob" on the back line the D500 to move the focusing point. I still won't deter my purchase.

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      Thank you! That is very kind of you to say. Yes the battery grip is unfortunate for those who like having one. At least the battery still lasts so much longer than mirrorless! Haha. I have a similar knob on my A7s iii. Personally I just like using the up down left right arrows

      @@TymekStolarz I'm trying to decide between the D500 and D780. However the price of D500 and D750 is exactly the same.
      I'm interested in pictures only not video.
      To make things more difficult I inquired 7 DX lenses and 3 full frame lenses.

    • @TymekStolarz
      @TymekStolarz  3 года назад

      Personally I think full frame is always the better system to invest in. They have better low light capabilities and provide a shallower depth of field which is a look a lot of people like. It’s great you at least have some fx lenses, and I would probably go with the full frame, and sell the dx lenses to get more fx. But as you probably already know, there is additional costs there as the larger fx glass is always more expensive then similar dx glass

    Ik kan met de D780 geen NEF openen in mijn Paint Shop pro.
    Wel op de Camera monitor maar niet op div bewerking programma's.
    Weet iemand hoe mogelijk is.Met de 800 geen probleem.

      Goedemorgen Walter, ik heb je opmerking via Google laten lopen, dus ik hoop dat het correct is vertaald. Ik vond deze pagina op de website van Paint Shop Pro met compatibele camera's:
      learn.corel.com/blog/aftershot-3-6-update-and-new-camera-profiles/
      Het lijkt erop dat de D780 nog niet compatibel is met het programma. Ik zou rechtstreeks contact met ze opnemen om te vragen wanneer ze dit zouden opnemen.

      Good morning Walter, I ran your comment through Google so I hope it was translated properly. I found this page on Paint Shop Pro's website of compatible cameras.
      It looks as though the D780 may not yet be compatible with the program yet. I would reach out to them directly to inquire when they might be including this.

      Ah well that’s awesome. New toys is always great. Tough to know know what’s the best les to go for next. What do you normally shoot? The 85 is a great focal length; however I personally went for a 90 macro lens. Still in that focal range, great compression for portrait photograph, but being able to get in and take macro shots is such a huge plus. I use that lens all the time for product videos and photos.
