So... two days ago I had no clue about this shit and now, a couple of dozen videos later, I just ordered damn MREs at Ebay. What kind of trickery is this??
Just started watching your vids, and man what a weird niche you've made a name for yourself here on RUclips. But I mean, you've got charm, innocent catchphrases, and just an interesting no bullshit straight to the point kind of set-up. Thanks for all you do man, wish more folk could be like you. Can't wait for the next one.
I really like how Steve eats these as his actual food for the day, not just a small tasting like many other reviews I've seen. I especially hate when I see other reviews just skip things bc they had the component previously.
I come from a military background and I love MREs when I found this channel a few days ago I became determined and watch all of his videos and can say I have the upmost respect for this man for doing this I wish I could taste what history tasted like. To see all these old MREs is amazing. Keep up the vids my man. I'll be sure to tell everyone about these videos
Steve, I work 70 hour weeks and just got off work. I'm drinking gin and tonic and smoking camel blues. Its 1:11 AM and I just subbed your videos. Thanks for being you.
You're one of the best MRE reviewers honestly. You seem like a super nice guy, you describe the flavors really well and I can tell you really love this stuff. The music in the intro and outro is very relaxing and for some reason your "alright, cool, see ya" at the end always makes me feel at ease.
hey Steve!! just bought my first MRE through a company that works with the government.. cant wait to try it before i have to leave for basic! thanks for peaking my unknown interest in MREs!!
We need a compilation of ever time Steve says "this is the best thing I've ever eaten in a ration!" . Love the channel man. Get you'll be on spike tv soon.
You are the reason I am officially obsessed with MRE reviews. You are my absolute favorite reviewer! I have no military background/experience but for some reason I am like in love with MREs. Thank you so much Steve! You are truly awesome and I look forward to your new videos. Stay dope my friend :)
+kevin wu i guess its because of the protein... Like 24 grams a can, locally produced. The other cans were canned peaches and canned kidney beans or hummus which was also nice at times.
+Elior Hallo The fact that cultural preferences can be clearly seen, even in something as minimal as a military ration, is my favorite part of these videos. In this one, it's the caramels that caught my attention. US Military gives you mint gum. period.
hermano, eres hipnótico, la mejor terapia para relajarte antes de dormir, la forma en la cual describes las raciones es muy tranquila y agradable, no cambies!
Man you are very down to earth. You can tell you love doing what you do and I love it too!!! Much respect man keep doing what you do and I'll keep watching!!
+Steve1989 MREinfo You are the first youtuber that looks exactly how you sound. And yeah, I look forward to the "Hnice!" every video. I have a serious mre addiction, thanks for feeding it. Keep up the great work, man.
French MREs always look the best. I hope I get to try one some day, especially the ostrich and cranberry one. I really really want to get one of those.
The French specops are TOP notch LE/MIL operators. Their gear, tactics and weapons are second to none. Largely they are little known and like it as such! Great find and review as always mate. Now I'm gonna have a LRP entree for lunch, THANKS TO YOU! :-)
Dude, you have to trademark "Let's get this out onto a tray. . . Nice!" and print up some t-shirts! I'd buy one. I've been trying to figure out why these videos are so. . Nice. I think it's the simple fact that some chill dude somewhere is able to find simple joy in messing with stupid old rotten MRE's. That and the asmr angle, but mostly that the world is completely f'd up and Steve is able to find a bit of happiness in powdered chicken soup and share it with us.
you definitely describe each entree with such detail. it's a pleasure watching you reveal and preserve our world military history. keep em coming man! nice
You're such a likeable person and so genuine and thorough with your videos. The way you talked about all the food had me craving it...especially the Chicken Soup and Pasta Carbonara!
I love how you don't spoil us with content but also don't starve us either... but either way you do it, I'm loving these reviews. Don't get sick on us man. 👍
I've been watching you vids and those of your partners. Nice job showing what the military of the world, and civilian rations have for meals. Thank you.
It is surprising the biscuits didn't survive, you may think they are the most durable item of the whole pack. I know those biscuits, they are good but very salty.
You're videos are my new favorite thing on RUclips. I've always loved military rations because they intrigue me, still like them even after having to eat them for a week during BMT! But anyway I hope you keep putting videos up for long time! Rock on!
One day I was really hungry and I don't know why wanted to see rations. And then I stumbled apon this channel. seeing this makes people realize how good they have it.
I love it how some biscuits from 60 years ago are just fine, but 8 years ago, nope.
People made things to last longer.
If you make them without fat (shortening) they won't go rancid. Keep them really dry and they'll last for ages.
How about the 30 something year old hotdogs lol
What about that civil war hard tack he had
Different ingredients, also the USA makes stuff to last way longer unlike the French. (Downside pumped with way more preservatives.)
"Let's get this out on a tray."
*Jump cut*
"Nice!"
Never change. This is the reason I subscribed.
Fuck yes

Make their brakes also contain video watching as a part, make them feel sorry if watched otherwise.
where do you work bro
Probably work for the government
Love the camouflaged commando bar. Just in case you want to be stealthy while you eat it. Just don't drop it in foliage.
"Hey, Rick, do you want my Commando Bar? I'm not a commando so I can't eat it!"
I've never wanted chicken soup so much before. Your descriptions are hunger inducing.
+Steve1989 MREinfo god that fish stew looked really good and creamy lol

It's just like saying goodbye to a good friend after a night in the pub, or something. It's exactly how old friends talk. A warm, informal farewell.

Coming from the guy who ate a Korean War era Arctic Survival Ration.
What about Boer War beef?

modern food morphs into highly toxic and radioactive substances unlike natural food back in the day.

Shodan Cat yeah steve is awesome
Weird how nature do that
I dont think he enjoyed the civil war mothballed hard tac
He's also not a big fan of botulism.

Followed by the "m'kay!"
Steve, I work 70 hour weeks and just got off work. I'm drinking gin and tonic and smoking camel blues. Its 1:11 AM and I just subbed your videos. Thanks for being you.

+kevin wu i guess its because of the protein... Like 24 grams a can, locally produced. The other cans were canned peaches and canned kidney beans or hummus which was also nice at times.
+Elior Hallo
The fact that cultural preferences can be clearly seen, even in something as minimal as a military ration, is my favorite part of these videos.
In this one, it's the caramels that caught my attention. US Military gives you mint gum. period.

I recently discovered ration/MRE reviews. I've watched all your videos. You are by far my favorite reviewer. Good work Steve keep it up.
Say what you want about the French and their military, but the French do not mess around when it comes to food.
Do you mean Steve? or people in the comments?
It's a stereotype that the French military is really weak.
Just ask Louis LeBeau.
+John perry france won more battles than any other country in the world
+Kevin Li they also have need the most help with their wars lol

Oh, man, what a fantastic idea! Will definitely have coffee type 2, lol.

I've been trying to figure out why these videos are so. . Nice. I think it's the simple fact that some chill dude somewhere is able to find simple joy in messing with stupid old rotten MRE's. It is surprising the biscuits didn't survive, you may think they are the most durable item of the whole pack. I know those biscuits, they are good but very salty.
Very apt description of the cheese and mildew smell of bad dried milk.
It resonated directly with my own experience.
