That's one of the thing's that makes Alastor such a scary and well written character. Yes, he is a trickster and a shyster who has gained all his power through deal making but the way he has done so makes him stand out. Alastor is seemingly honest to an insane degree when compared to the other Overlords or demon Princes because he never seems to lie and always tells you his motivations up front but he STILL ends up tricking and deceiving those he targets anyway. He withholds key facts, like when he claims he came to the hotel for entertainment. Yes, that is part of the truth as he DOES find his actions there enjoyable but the BIGGER truth is that he is under a deal and had no choice. He also uses the assumptions of others to his own advantage, always waits for the key moment to strike like when he made his deal with Charlie, and ALWAYS makes sure he has something he can bring to the table. As much as the show likes to hype Alastor's power, its his mind and strategy that make him so dangerous throughout the series.
Alastor tells the truth, but does so carefully. He won't lie to you, he won't even really omit anything, but he'll phrase it in a way that makes it inconsequential. like with charlie. one favor, where she won't harm anyone. doesn't mean he won't make her sell out someone to an overlord that WILL hurt them. or throw someone under a bus, or trade her freedom for his, etc. cause he's still keeping exactly to the deal. SHE didn't hurt anyone for him. and I think him trying to makes deals with charlie in specific adds credibility to the Alastor's leash holder is Lilith theory. cause he want's charlie, to use her as leverage against her mother to get out of his own deal. cause I like to think in season 2, Al is going to use the deal to get Charlie to get him off his leash. if he does, then it'll be interesting to see if he becomes an antagonist, or an anti-hero type they only work with when the absolutely have to.
I really feel like, when it comes down to making a deal with any of the overlords, Alastor and/or Carmilla Carmine would be the safe bets. As long as you respect them and their boundaries, they will (for the most part) respect and protect you, no matter what the terms are for the deal. Seems like a win-win to me. I'd absolutely make a deal with Alastor (but only if I was cornered with no way out).
I mean, it’s true that Alastor usually warns ppl and they take his deals anyway. He keeps his end, though. If he said he’ll do smth for you, he does it. So, yeah, as far as manipulators, he shoots straighter than most
@@RabbidTribble Better than Bill Cypher. Motherfucker lied out of every deal, gave off brand shit for payment, and the few times he genuinely tried to complete his end of a deal, he messed it up.

Maybe you noticed something I missed, however it seems to me like he holds up his end of the deal 100% of the time so long as you don't piss him off. He also seems capable of putting up with a lot, so it seems like you'd have to do some hardcore disrespect in order to upset him. Really the only one we know of who hates working for him is Husk and it's because he hates being treated like a pet based on his appearance which is why Husk was also always annoyed with Angel Dust whenever Angel would call him "Kitten" and "Whiskers". Husk has an attitude, so Alastor doesn't really respect him all that much but he still doesn't go out of his way to hurt Husk the way Valentino does with Angel. He also doesn't shout at his minions or demand things from people like a spoiled brat the way Velvette does.

Tbf Husk was justified in sassing back, but my point is if Husk randomly insults Alastor without any intention to make Alastor feel bad, and is only insulting Alastor because he's grumpy, without any deliberate intent to hurt any feelings. E.g "don't you Husker me you son of a bitch" Alastor just isn't bothered. It's only when Husk says "big talk for somebody who is also on a leash" that because Husk is saying it specifically to hurt Alastor, that's when Alastor gets serious
Alastor is definitely one of the most well written characters I've ever encountered. All the other characters are top notch in their own way but Alastor is the most complex in the bunch. He's friendly yet frightening, charming and charismatic yet creepy, savvy and sophisticated yet sadistic. The fact that he has his own moral compass though a little twisted is a pleasant trait many people find in him. Also love that he's an aroace with a radio voice. ❤
Great to see your checking out more of DJs stuff, they’ve got so many great ones for most characters. The story bits in them are a little dated now cuz most of the, came out before season 1, but all great songs.
I agree with the comment on the melody, the melody and beat it has is just my kind of taste. It literally makes me bounce my head side to side when the song starts picking up.
I feel i'd get along with Alastor just fine. As far as deals would go, as long as i have a good/fun time i wouldn't care what the outcome would be or what i'd have to give up.
