I like to think that Alastor was using the loud speakers throughout town that were on the electric poles. Also after Vox shorted out the city’s power, Alastor still had power at the hotel. The fun thing with radio waves if they are at a high enough power, they will still come through an unpowered speaker. My father’s CB always came over my TV and electric keyboard speakers when he was using it.
This song is my favorite from the show. I love how it starts as Vox’s Villain Song until Alastor shows up and says “This is mine now,” and turns it into his own by the end. That, and I’m just a sucker for Villain Songs in general 🤣
What basically sums up Alastor singing is what he says to Lucifer "i'm singing it, so i'll finish it" so close to the age old "i didn't start it, but i'm going to finish it)
This actually is accurate to how real life radios work, radios basically just steal random things and record them kinda like how Alastor did he just stole vox’s song like how a radio steals songs and plays them
He says “Now his medium is getting bloody rare” as in meat that is so undercooked it’s bleeding and also that radio js getting “bloody rare” as in “fucking rare” but British.
I just noticed that at the end Alastors eyes were turning like the hands of a clock, as if to hit home the message to Vox that “Your status quo will know his race is run" Edit: Okay so they're actually radio dials, I don't know much about radio so I just assumed it but it's still some cool imagery.
0:39 -- The line Val says to him could imply a couple of things. *The least likely being that Vox beat Alastor 1v1.* The likely options are: - Vox fled before defeat like Alastor did VS Adam - Vox was losing but the other Vees stepped in and forced Alastor to retreat (supported by the line "He'd be powerless without the other Vees" during the song) If Vox defeated Alastor in a 1v1, there is absolutely no way he would have opted to *NOT* brag about it during this song. It also wouldn't explain why Vox is obviously scared of Alastor.
Funnily enough statistically speaking traditional radio is as strong as it ever was, it only had a dip in 2020 because most people don't listen to radio while just sitting at home, but it's actually grown these past 3 years. Then all the second screen audio content like podcasts I would imagine that feeds Alistor too.
that's crazy actually I'd assume most people use Spotify or whatever when in they're in their car for example Not people over 30 I guess, but still But idk maybe it's just me, I'm amazed at how people still listen to radio and watch tv, it's just so much BS to me I don't understand it
As a side thought; aren't cell phones, wifi systems, bluetooth connections, NFC devices and such just an extension of radio? Not in the sense of "tune in and listen", of course, but they are all forms of radio communication, right? If so, Vox's tech may be making his own arch enemy stronger.
My fav line was Alastor's "I'm gonna make you wish that I stayed gone" dissing Vox's "I'm gonna make you wish that you'd stayed gone". Which is also the title the song lol
What makes this better: That part wasn’t televised, so there should’ve been no way for Alastair to know about that….. unless he knows Vox well enough to know just how he’d start his song, and predicted it so he could play off it. He was playing with Vox from the start
I am not fully sure if alastor gets his power solely from people listening to the radio, or maybe radio waves. There is background radio waves from deep space, and a lot of television channels are broadcasted via radio waves. That would be a very interesting question to have answered...
Think it's also kinda clever how they did this since depending on the radio it might not need electricity to work (or they might just use batteries)... So as long as Alastor has some sort of generator hooked up he's pretty much good to keep broadcasting even if there's a power outage in Hell... Crystal radios which were super early radios just utilized the power existing in the received radio signal in order to produce a sound... So yeah, if the power goes out then I'm pretty sure Vox is getting screwed over while Alastor is pretty unaffected or perhaps even better off probably...
The difference between Alastor and Vox powers is that Vox powers come from people watching him and his mind control powers by TV. While Alastor, even though he is know as a Radio demon it's second to the powers he receives from deals. Imagine if Vox took a 7 year break, noone watches TV for 7 years and he be powerless.Basically Alastor is old money while Vox is new money.
I can't imagine someone like vox having this kind of reaction unless either he didnt defeat Alistor or Vox was losing and something happened that basically gave vox an opening to what was a cheap win
@@LianFenn5891 I know. I feel there is a lot more to it though. The facts could also be twisted here, because we know vox can hypnotize people. Vox's emotional response to Alistor even before the song showed nervousness, anger, and fear. @@daemoncarroll8347 you right. I think I meant to agree with the second part of your comment where Alastor was winning, then something happened causing Vox to win. His immediate "Uh F*** you!" response to Val saying that is what came to mind when you said it. So maybe he spun it to seem like Alastor was the one who almost got lucky (because if he was losing he was definitely too injured to say he took Alastor down with no effort) but in reality it was Vox that actually got the lucky shots causing him to win. Also it doesn't seem like Vox's hypnosis 100% works on Val, but there's only one scene where we see him trying to use it on him.
How I view the comments about alastor vs vox is different then I have seen others view it. To me the statement "upset he almost beat you that one time." Doesn't necessarily mean Vox won the confrontation. It means someone had an out. Because to me it doesn't make sense to be so clearly worried if you won the first time. Even if it was close.
My guess is he was getting whooped but all the other vees stepped in and with cheap shots was able to send Al in retreat, which is why Al said he would be powerless without them
While it is true we've moved into tv, the radio is still around. We all listen to it in our cars. We listen to our music and podcasts on things like spotify. So radio never really died. And now internet is taking over tv. As for theories on Alistor, Val states that Alistor ALMOST defeated Vox. That means Al lost...and probably was quite injured and nursing his wounds. My guess, he made a deal with Lillith for more power, in exchange he was tasked by Lillith to help and protect Charlie and her hotel. Also, if you haven't, take a moment to read the blue screen of death on Vox's face in the song. There's some little details worth a chuckle there.
I have the same theory, only i think the way Valentino teases Vox how he almost got beat, it suggest that Valentino and Velvette teamed up to aid Vox, which makes sense how Alastor says in the song that Vox is only as strong as his support and that he would be powerless without the other V's.
I need to say it, that I like the german scene in where Vox says "I'm gotta send a message of who's really in charge now" more, because Vox gets a electric effect on his voice when he gets angry or in this case, overly excited. But great react, as always. Wish that the other songs come too.
The fight between Alastor and Vox probably ended the same way that the fight between Alastor and Adam ended, he retreated before Alastor could kill him. It makes sense since they are thematic parallels of each other. Voxs biggest weakness is that he constantly feels the need to prove himself even though he has nothing to prove. Alastors biggest weakness is his resistance to change, it’s what cost him the fight with Adam, out of everything he should of done to prepare for the battle he didn’t fortify his staff like how everyone else enhanced their weapons, with angelic steel. It’ll be interesting to see how play out next season. Will Vox finally realize he already won against Alastor in terms of technological dominance? Will Alastor come to terms with the reality that he needs to change and adapt with the times if he wants to stay on top? Who knows?
Alastor was gone 7 years and so was Charlie’s mom Lilith for 7 years. Husk said that Alastor was on a leash just like how husk sold his soul to Alastor. So it’s theorized that Alastor sold his soul to Lillith.
