I'm considered an advanced shooter, and I often watch videos like these to see if there's any new knowledge that I can adopt that I may have missed out on. Usually, I dont come across anything new that I havent seen before. Ive tried out the minor thumb detail at 2:05 for the past few days of shooting. Just that tiny detail has actually helped mitigate recoil even more, and I noticed my sights returning to the same spot quicker during follow up shots. Just goes to show you, no matter how advanced you are, you're always a student.
Yesterday, I was at the range trying to figure out why the he11 my shot keeps going towards the left of the target. So I was trying different options and one of the options I tried was to use my left thumb and push against the pistol when I pull the trigger. I was so excited because I can now feel that I am controlling the pistol. My aim was on point and looking forward to go back to the range tomorrow. 2:05 provides me confirmation.
I'm intermediate _at best_. My draw to guns has always been more a hobbyist/collector thing. After decades of plinking into trash I decided to focus on what really matters. To new shooters: Don't do what I did.
@@FuzedBoxIdk Fused. If somebody has the dough to collect, more power to 'em. Then again, training matters.
I went to the range again today since I had to stop my abruptly stop my practice yesterday. After shooting my Ruger American Competition 9mm, Ruger American .45, and Sig Sauer P320, the Range Safety Officer came over to me and gave me a complement, saying that I have really improved and my shot groupings were great. He encouraged me to increase the target distance and make sure I use the same principles, The same principles I learned by watching this video. Thank you sir for your instructions. I've really improved because of the training from this video.
I am only a beginner, but that exact same detail you mention helped me immensely. Still working on it, but I’m not down and left as much.
Yes😊
As a firearms instructor for many years I’m always open for different techniques . Just learned something new and will pass on some of this verbiage and techniques. Thanks. You have a new viewer.
I was fortunate enough to spend two day’s training tactical with Coch. I learned the most of my life in that training period.
Wringing out a towel is the best description I've heard for the technique.
Thanks
Yep, I tried it and I could automatically FEEL a noticeable difference in my grip. Little differences like that add up to big results.
@@TheOfficialCaseMadefor real!
Same, phenomenal imagery for a technique. Thank you on my end too, instant improvement!
My father never got into handguns until the last few years. After getting comfortable behind the gun, my first and only grip lesson was to empty and clear a gun and told him to keep the gun pointed at the target. He had a good enough starting grip. I grabbed the muzzle and started twisting, torquing, pulling, etc the front of the gun. He tightened up his grip, and the rest of his upper body posture. There's your grip. Most people are under-gripping or neglecting the "full body" picture in their grip dynamic.
Yeah. I'm old school. But I'm fast and I never miss.
I'm looking at another YT "Expert/Instructor".
Question.........What moron came up with the idea of what is essentially a thumbless grip on a pistol? I'm a human, not an ape. Human beings have opposing thumbs for a reason.
Way back about 50 years ago, I started what would be a long and satisfying relationship with the HANDGUN.........NOT the handSgun.
My chief influence and mentor was a man, whose name I won't mention, because you current generation of nancy-boy gun slobs wouldn't know him anyway. At any rate, he was a national pistol champion for several years in addition to a distinguished career with the U.S. Border Patrol in the early to middle part of the last century. He engaged in numerous firefights with drug smugglers and human traffickers, in which he is personally responsible for sending at least 30 men to their graves. This is a matter of record. I can say with absolute certainly that this old fellow, who lived into his 90s, would laugh his @$$ off at these "modern technique" fluff-balls who advocate all this H○r$€$%iT.
So, go ahead, all you beta male, soy-boy metrosexual "peaceful warriors". Shoot your silly little steel plates and barn door size silhouettes with your delicate, tricked out pseudo 1911s, plastic squirt-gun looking 9mms and prissy little ARs, and continue to delude yourself that you're ready for things to come. Guys like me who actually know our stuff will pull your fat out of the fire.
Pleasant dreams, Fluffy.
So......How do you like me so far?
I watched this video several times before going to the range today. My groupings really improved. I still have to work to find that sweet spot with trigger finger placement and perfecting my grip, but I made great improvements.
I had never had anyone to show me how to grip a handgun but this is exactly how I hold it. It just felt the best for me and best way to control the recoil
Best straight to the point instruction. Had my daughter watch this before we went to the range. She improved instantly. Thanks
Simplest and best description of proper grip on the internet. Short and sweet and super helpful.
Never really thought about it like that (ringing a towel). Always working on my grip. Thanks!
Same! Wringing a towel. BAM!
Wringing a towel made the most sense to me !!!! Thanks coch!!!
Wow, I've seen a lot of books/videos on pistol grip, and none of them are this clear, concise, and intuitive. Will try out in dry fire and the range. Thank you!
Great video. It's the small details that make the biggest difference.
Wow. Today I learned I’ve been using the wrong grip for years lol. Immediately decided to go to the range since I had my afternoon free and boy did it make a difference.
Feels pretty different than I’m used to so my groupings aren’t really improved or anything, but it’s faster from draw to sight acquired, and I can shoot faster with the added stability.
Thanks so much for this! I feel a whole lot more prepared.
Coch is an excellent communicator. I truly feel like his content does an exceptional job of connecting.
Keep the excellent content coming, you guys.
Awesome stuff Coch. Can't wait for the next one.
These are some best of the best tips on grip that I have seen. Thanks
Appreciate the advice, i'm not a strong handler by no means but this grip has really helped me keep my shots more accurate.
Love this video man. Can never get enough lessons on proper ways to hold a weapon.
Informative and to the point. Awesome!
Best explanation I've seen so far. Thank you
Best video I've seen on this subject. Thank You.
What a great video! Short and to the point. Great demo and explanation. 👊🏼
Best video seen on this subject. I'm a new shooter and love the basic instructions. Glad I found you.
This video has helped my groupings immensely! I actually can’t thank you enough for this.
The "wringing the towel" is a great lesson I'm going to try next week. Thank you!
This was very clear concise instruction, good teacher.
Coch is the man! All his stuff is the best!
Very helpful video. Useful tips with no extra nonsense. Thanks!
Loved this video..The landed upside down shots were a bonus
Great video, thanks for the professional advice.
Thank you for a great video
Thank you And your comrades for your service "Coch" God-bless you and your family.
Straight to the point, and more than easy to understand, thanx for the info man!!!! 🎯🎯🎯🎯
After watching many grip videos this one was the only one that clicked and made sense for me. Thank you
Thanks for the tips! Wringing the towel is such a good way to describe what I should do with my arms and muscles to lock in the grip.
Keep em coming sir.
Thank you for good information.
Thank you for your service.
The best pistol grip instructional video I’ve seen yet 👏🏼
Great advice. Thanks for the help
Can't wait to try that!
I was having a little trouble with my grip falling apart but you explained it perfectly. Thanks man.
A great tutorial.
Thanks Coch!!
Thank for for your videos!
I’ve been shooting for over 20 years, not a professional or anything like by any stretch, but have to say this is an excellent video on grip. Grip is more important, in, my opinion than other components of shooting. A strong consistent grip will result in consistent groupings as long as you aim at the target!
2:56 great explanation of locking the wrists Coch thank you!
Always like to learn and getter better from a pro. Great tutorial
Another great video, thanks Coch👍🇺🇸
Thanks Frogman. Please keep them coming!
Fantastic video! Thanks!
Added to my favorites, thanks "Coch"
I could not for the life of me figure out why I was shooting my new P320 Legion low and to the right (I am a left handed shooter). I was positive I was not anticipating recoil and was about to start tinkering with the sights ready to blame the gun (I should have known better). When the video hit the 2:08 mark I knew this was the fix I was looking for, and all it cost me was a like and subscribe (and a small hit to the ego).. but I'll live and get back on target. Thank you for the content!

really enjoyed your insight and proper technique on the fundamentals of shooting. 😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge 💪💥
My shooting has really improved after watching this. Thank you.
Good solid advice there Sir👍🏻I'm gonna try that for sure until I get it spot on👍🏻
Great explanation. Thanks!
Very, very good video. I am always having issues keeping the sights in place after the first shot. Will keep trying, this makes sense.
This may be the best video I’ve seen on properly gripping a pistol
Thank you for the video, I think this will really help my accuracy.. Thanks
Best four minute video on grip. 🤓👍
Thank you very much for the instruction
What a great explanation!
Thanks for sharing.
GREAT STUFF AS USUAL COCH THANK YOU!!
Great information thanks...Go Navy !!!!!!
I think you have described the problem I have on my grip and provide me with a suggestion to correct it. The way I grip my handgun is at about 95% close to what you mentioned as a good grip, I guess just missing that 5% could be night and day difference. I'll do as you suggested the next time I go to the range. Thanks for such a great video on grip.
Very helpful. Thank you.
i like the 'ringing a towel' analogy. gonna try this at the range tomorrow! thanks!
Great advice and presentation.
So great, thanks!
I've been shooting for about a year and always have struggled with my support hand.. "wringing out a towel" clicked for me. I now feel like my support hand is doing its job! Thank you so much for this tip
I really appreciate these videos, I can't wait to go to the range and give the "wringing a towel" method a try.
I fully expected the Frogman to have a serious tan line on his left wrist 😂. Keep the cool content coming!
Thanks for this content. Not a serious shooter and about to take my CCW so I want to have some idea what to focus on. Thanks!
Very helpful. Thanks!
I think you are exactly the kind of person I would want to stand beside if I ever found myself in a bad situation.
Thank you very much
As a beginner
This how grip video really helped !!!!
Great details 😎✅
Great stuff!
Thanks, good lesson 🇺🇸🤙🏼
Nice video. Thanks
Very helpful. Thanks! 😀
i really like your course
Very helpful -- thanks! 👍
Thank you Great video
I like the wringing the towel advice as well. Cheers
No one gonna comment how how he shoots more accurate upside than most of us right side up 😅
That is a truth I'm not willing to face yet lol
Great advice ,helped me greatly, plus no yapping for ten minutes beforehand. thankyou
This works !! I've been cutting Clovers at 12 yards Glock 43 .... Your trigger finger does feel separate from your hand which is a plus. Also I've moved into that next phase of feeling not sight only a few times 👍
A breakdown of Coch's KE15 lower AR with Fwd assist upper would be sweet!
great video Coch, i m a new shooter with smaller medium size hands, always want to learn how i should position/ grip my support hand.
great and to the point
Definitely running this technique at the range ASAP thanks
My man. I'm hitting the range this weekend with those tactics.
Thank you sir.
I can listen to Coch all day.
Great video!!!!!!!!!!
Nice TY
Wringing out a towel and stiff enough for the tendons to stick out is gaming changing
