The IL-2's are amazing aircraft, and they would be even better in game if you added more of their historical loadouts, especially the PTAB anti-tank cluster bombs

My favorite thing to do in the IL-2 Type 3 is to head on overconfident fighters who think they can easily take down the IL-2, then spraying them with 23mm fire. I always have a fun time doing this.
IL-2's are the best heavy fighters against apes in planes.

I was nervous about this B-25 coming at me, and we went head-to-head, and my bullets went through his plane lengthwise and that was it for him. :D
Another time it was a P-61 that was *sure* he had something for me. 23mm came out the back of his fuselage and I got a message that he suffered damage to his elevator. XD

i love that plane, specially the 1942 version with the 23mm cannons, its amazing for taking down planes
More info that Gaijin didn't deign to impart:
- the original IL-2 prototype included a rear-gunner, who was removed, an action that caused instability of the new design (tail was too light), something that field mechanics started rectifying already in 1941
- the core of the IL-2 concept was a fully armored capsule encompassing the engine and the pilot, which caused issues with cooling the engine
- German soldiers called it the "Black death", the infantry was terrified of them
- IL-2 suffered horrible losses at the start of war due to lack of rear gunner, lack of escort fighters and the way the escorts operated when they were assigned
- still, many planes survived even damage that would've brought down any other plane in the world (where physics are different from this game in which US planes like F-84, P-47, etc. can easily fly without entire wings for some reason while the Chaika dies if it loses even a 5 inch long tip of one of it's 4 wings lol)
- IL-2's most used weapon were PTAB cassette bombs/cluster munitions, specifically designed to destroy German tanks. I guess Gaijin is not only fighting against implementing this weapon into the game , even though IL-2s used it far more than they used 100 and 250kg bombs (which ARE in game on IL2), but they've gone so far as to even deny they ever existed by refusing to even mention them
- in later half of the war Il-2s started to be replaced by the improved version, called IL-10
- in 1956 the Soviet Army command stupidly decided that the future lies with supersonic planes (in line with contemporary race for speed) and ordered the "retirement" of the entire IL-2 fleet. ALL IL-2's were scrapped, thus the only two flyable IL-2 still existing to this day were cobbled together from parts found randomly and even of these one is using the wrong engine - American engine instead of Soviet. Years later they realized just how stupid they'd been, but by then it was already too late (Ilyushin had made some prototypes, but they were all rejected). At least the resumption of sturmovik doctrine brought us the legendary Su-25. Still, a good proof of how much damage temporary enthusiasm and short-sightedness can do.
- the IL-2: Sturmovik developed by Maddox Games and published in 2001 is still THE best flight simulator ever and a large community continues to play and mod it even now, 21 years later. FACT

Q: Will wing vapor effects be added to jets?
Highly underrated Aircraft in WT, which was one of the reasons i started playing. The IL-2 (especially IL-2 1942) and Su-6 (23mm versions) are the best Groundattackers in Low-Mid Tier by far, when it comes to the balance between Anti-Air/Anti-Ground capabilities.
The IL-2 need definetly need some love regarding the historical loadouts: PTAB
BTW . Po-2 and Yak-9B could also carry PTAB
What time would be better to introduce these PTAB to make Po-2 really OP?
While I too would love the addition of PTABs, it would just lag the server too much as a single IL-2 could carry over 100 of them, just imagine if 2 or even a whole squad drop at the same time. The server just can’t handle all those objects at once
@@vajer3312 I think thats not a problem, at least not anymore. Planes with rocketpods already can carry over 200 rockets and with weapon selection you can send them more or less at once - maybe these would be to devastating (for low BR).
@@noir8945 if anything it’d mean that anything with PTABs would be up-BR’d, as a PTABs charge has around 80mm of pen, most roofs are not more 30-40mm thick. The game (as it is now) is too poorly balanced to add things like PTABs and other cluster munitions
Meanwhile I'm still figuring out which is better, single seat version or with a gunner bro.
Because IL-2 loses massive amounts of speed when turning, and I really want to counter than massive loss of speed but then I have no gunner which means enemy fighters sees me as a juicy target.
use the il-2M its nice in turns has fighting flaps and its "fast"
i personally don't like the variant with the rear gunner because that extra weight and removal of the rear armor makes it easier to kill the pilot *and* makes the turn rate worse
the thing is the IL-2 is incredible for headons despite it’s turn speed loss. As long as you’re in a position where you can make up lost speed without getting lasered by another fighter, it can be magical. Just don’t expect to survive the entire match.

Had a horten and a me262 chasing my 2.3 Il2 a while ago, dogfought them so easily by decreasing speed and thing still flies like a champ, killing two jets and one k.tiger with a 2.3 is an amazing feel

Now if Gaijin would add (more than current) historically accurate objective based missions that would be great 👍 the only thing added since is the Korean era in Dynamic battles, and even that is, like the rest, just go here fight/bomb that and finish...

The IL-2 is the most produced military aircraft? What about you guys always talking about the Yak-3 and Bf. 109 being the most produced ones?
But this one is actually true, IL-2 is the most produced military aircraft in history.
But keep in mind of the word military, there's only 1 aircraft that beats this record, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk which is a civilian aircraft.
IL-2 is most produced, then it is a question of if the Yak-1, 3, 7 and 9 are the same plane or not. If you say they are then the Yaks were more produced than the BF-109, otherwise the BF-109 is.

1:15 correction: t34 tankers never achieved great things, because most didnt survive more than a few ebgagements(survival rate once hit was 18% for the crew, on the sherman it was 80%)

There were almost no German tanks in Western front lol, and even when they did they had no fuel to operate, US fought least powerful forces of the German army, only kids and old mans...
this is wrong the most produced air plane in aviation history is the 1. Cessna 172 (44,000) Editorial Team Cessna 172 Skyhawk ... and 2. Ilyushin Il-2 (36,000) CC0 Ilyushin IL-2 ... 3. Messerschmitt Bf 109 (34,852)....4. Piper PA-28 Series (32,778)....
5. Cessna 150/152 (23,839)... Now if it were what was the most produced air craft during World War 2 then that would be the IL-2 then the Yak-3 and next the Bf109 after that the Fw190 and then the Spitfire.
