I really wish that they had connected the two games more so in the in-game experience. Personally I prefer the first game massively over the sequel, it had a much better atmosphere.
Yeah, I'd tend to agree. I still enjoyed the second game, but I think them attempting to juggle between the two settings of Temple Gate and the school just didn't work all that well.
I think they really could have done a much better job dropping in more hints at Murkoff observing or interfering with the cult, like having glimpses of hidden cameras or drones or more documents besides ONE note at the lake. I understand the logic behind making the connections so vague - so that Blake knows even less than the player - but it feels like a major missed opportunity. Players shouldn't have to read a darn comic to make sense of what's really going on.
Whistleblower leads to outlast 2 actually like a domino effect, Waylon uploads the footage which leads to Paul and Paulene searching for Waylon only to end up finding Simon peacock who tells Paul to go to temple gate where they find Jane doe who paulene then kills leading to Lynn investigating this and bringing her husband Blake with her and then ends up crashing their helicopter into temple gate. So whistleblower and outlast 1 is the cause to outlast 2
wait i might need a little more detail then this? who is the main character in whistleblower? by the way i put the small piece together recently. OUTLAST THE ORIGINAL game actually takes place after whistleblower. so if you think about that’s probably why it was tuffer for him to escape. like think about this way. if there was a jail break earlier and alot of people escaped but they managed to capture the rest the entire building would be on way more of a high alert. i mean obviously i just had to read it but i never noticed that the email at the beginning was what he was holding in the car.

i actually like the small hints to Murkoff in the second game, i like it when they leave the player to do some small extra digging for the answers and is a way of storytelling that is not well respected (not counting the fnaf series). i personally think that the first game does something's better than the second and the same goes for the second game
How did you not know about the mind control tower that Murkoff was testing on that town which was the cause of the blinding light and strange sound? It's not even that hard to find something on it as it's right in the outlast wiki.
I'm sorry, but I really don't understand how an asylum and Murkoff are connected with a town full of crazy people with an asshole Christian God. The only similarity would be Father Martin with Knoth.
The foghorn and blaring white pulse from Outlast 2 is caused by a facility on the edge of the compound and can be seen from afar. These pulses cause mass shared hallucinations and hysteria. So Murkoff is the only thing connecting both games.
I despise how some games use comics or books to fill the gaps. I like reading but I would the entire story to be told through the game. Most of the time I never hear about a filler comic until years later.
Yeah same, when I finished outlast years ago, I never knew about them having a comic, it actually kinda sucked ngl, I mean I don’t mind reading, but I wish it was more in game and not on a comic
