You are correct about the Eastern Coyotes. They tend to be larger and have more variations in the colors of their fur than true Western Coyotes. Genetic research has shown that the Eastern Coyote, or Coy wolf, tend to have between 5%, to almost 20% of their genetics contributed by Eastern Timber Wolves. I believe that a yellow coat and a jet black coat color are the least common for these Coy wolves.
