Hey grandma! Scott Walker's got a new album out, you remember him? "Looooneliness, is a cloak you weeeaaaarrrr"...... yeah, THAT guy! He sounds different now. Let's have a listen.
Just imagine a collab between Bowie and Walker. It would bend spacetime and maybe create a black hole just out of the pure density and darkness of their work.
+Javier Bustos Troncoso He covered "Nite Flights". That's about the closest they got. It probably wouldn't have worked - they were two excellent singers who benefited from great musical collaborators, they would probably have got in each other's way.
Bowie and Eno each wanted to produce a Scott Walker record after Nite Flights came out. Scott rejected both, because their personalities and musical goals would have stumbled over each other. Probably a good idea, to be honest.
So sad to hear about Scott Walker's passing away today. He was one of a kind, a true artist and such an inspiration. The work he leaves behind is monumental. I will miss never again being able to listen to new work from Scott, but feel consoled by the fact that his work shows new facets, reveals new beauty with each listen and shall continue to inspire for generations to come. Thank you Scott! I'm so glad you were here!
I don’t understand any of the songs on this album or on the tilt or the drift but I love what he did. These albums are so frightening and intriguing. Scott was such a great musician ❤
+Maka, in a '96 interview, Bowie said Scott Walker is one of his favorite artists and that he thinks he has the best voice in rock. i came here to listen to Scott Walker because of what Bowie said about him.
This is easily one of the best songs in the past few years.. A true masterpiece. Walker has got to have one of the best catalogs of music among musical artists.
I used to put "The Drift" on at dinner parties, just to see the moment where the conversation stops and everyone collectively asks, "what the hell is this?"
WALKER CLEARLY SEES MUSIC INSIDE AND OUT AND IS COMFORTABLE AND HYPERAWARE IN HIS OWN MUSICAL SKIN WHICH IS WHY THIS SOUNDS SO AUTHENTIC EFFORTLESSLY UNCONTRIVED AND ORIGINAL WHERE OTHER ARTISTS SOUND SO PAINFULLY SELF CONSCIOUS UPTIGHT AND ARE LIKE A PARODY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX LIKE A JOHN CALE SAMPLE OVER 17|43 TIME SIGNATURE. PiL really had this down on metal box.
This is one of the best things he's done in ages, and I say this having really loved "Tilt" and "The Drift" both. This reminds me of "Fat Mama Kick" off the Walker Brothers' late-70s "Nite Flights" album, but filtered through his more recently articulated, personal language of sound. Gone is the traditional song structure, and everything's far more twisted and layered. But still, that unsettling, nocturnal, deconstructed horror-jazz is present, albeit reconfigured.
Though many seem to focus on Scott's "shock value" present in many of the songs he writes, I find that I am more lost in the beautiful and stark poetry that accompanies the music. If you are merely listening to Scott for his "shock value" than I suggest that you dig deeper, while this is good music at face value it's depths are what make them masterpieces.
A vision this autonomy sound, and intrinsic ventless sound suffocation, sizzling like a beach in the equator region of uneasy reason wrath of nature, never nurture, the slow gurgles of fluid pneumonia swiping the last glimpse of this life's breath....... Sooooooo Good! 🕊️
Weird, but that's Scott Walker for you. This video is awesomely and handsomely made. Walker gets more crazy, in a good way, as he gets older. He defies those who defy him.
Undeniable proof that there is no one like Scott Walker and there will never be anyone like Scott Walker...ever. Brilliant song. Those horns are everything. Like a call to arms for all us Walker fans. He's back and he's still the best!
And now for something completely different. Love it! Never heard someone sing this way before. Music tend to be coquettish, it want to please people most of the time, this is the opposite, .. it's music about a strange feeling. Adventurous for the curious ear.
Scott Walker me sobrecoge.
THE 1ST FULL SONG. + 1ST MUSIC VIDEO!!!! Oh my god I'm overwhelmed!!!!! There was never any music video for The Drift. Not official anyway. What a surprise! This is too much, woah!!! 1st I had to play the song, to "feel" it, then see it with the video after. & I placed my order in the mail as soon as I could. If the Amazon & Canada Post are slow I'm going to be furious- missing out! I need it in my hands, & it's not even December. & remember, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT! Who's 70 in January :) thank u!
Scott Walker is such a singular musician. There is truly no one like him, and I don't mean that as a compliment even, I mean that as an objective statement. I can't wrap my head around his musical evolution. The reason being is that it's not contrived at all. Most people that try to make challenging music are all talk, or at least self consciously try to make it that way and give off a vibe that they're dark and mysterious to some degree (and there's nothing wrong with that I guess) but Scott Walker seems like he TRULY does not give a fuck about anything to do with musical cliches or trends or being cool. But even his resistance of all that doesn't seem like it's preconceived. It's just 100% natural and that's what makes his music so intense.
"The old man's back again." And before history anticipated. The ideal dhristmas gift for those you adore and those you despise, a burning delight in foretaste.
I'm pretty salty Scott doesn't play live anymore. His recent works would sound fucking pummeling in a live setting, it would work so perfectly with its theatrical nature.
"The idea behind Musique Concrète is that the composer begins with a set of “concrete” sounds and arranges them into a piece of music. This concept means that the composer is not limited by traditional musical instrumentation and theory" This takes musique concrete to a next level. Amazing video too.
Das kann man wohl sagen. Im maerz ist es ein Jahr seit seinem Tod. Er lebt weiter in seiner Musik. Ist es wahr dass er in Deutschland voellig unbekannt ist ?.
I am the only person who DARES TO SAY that I could never deny his unique voice but I do not like this new avenue he has taken. I feel that he has denied us of the pure bliss he used to exude. Just listen to "I THINK I'M GETTING OVER YOU". Oh, so wonderful.
my dad introduced me to this dude today by watching a documentary about him with me, i am a new fan, i will be checking out his stuff every opportunity i get
Hey grandma! Scott Walker's got a new album out, you remember him? "Looooneliness, is a cloak you weeeaaaarrrr"...... yeah, THAT guy! He sounds different now. Let's have a listen.
Been listening to him since 1965 and still listening and loving every thing he did.
😂
Sorry grandma, ill play something from his Walker brother’s era - this is about a everyday workman, yes an electrician
"what the hell is this neg## nonsense?"
How he went from 60s surf pop to 70s soft rock to this is beyond comprehension! That's one crazy trajectory. Fast and bulbous! Dig me?
Surf pop?
Baroque Pop
fast and bulbous
Thats right The Mascara Snake, Fast and Bulbous.
Not so beyond comprehension if you listen to his first four solo albums...
Just imagine a collab between Bowie and Walker. It would bend spacetime and maybe create a black hole just out of the pure density and darkness of their work.
Shame it can't happen anymore
+GermanDirkfoot ;-;

Bowie ripped Scott off quite a bit, A Small Plot Of Land is a great example. Don't get me wrong, I still love Bowie (RIP)
8:05 he has to have one of the cutest voices I’ve ever heard
RIP old chap. You were a fearless artist.

R.I.P. Scott Walker!!!!! :( D:
I had no idea he passed on. 3 years ago?
This video is blowing my face apart, it's so oddly moving. The lyrics are like Finnegan's Wake set in Hawaii and the music is not of this planet.
Listening to Scott Walker is like a revelation.
First I bought "Soused" then "Bish Bosh" ,was completey floored. Today I recieved both "Tilt" and "The Drift" in the mail.
I'm a lucky man.
You have immaculate taste my friend,👌👌🇬🇧🇬🇧
I don’t understand any of the songs on this album or on the tilt or the drift but I love what he did. These albums are so frightening and intriguing. Scott was such a great musician ❤
Bowie's Blackstar reminded me so much of this song
I was thinking the same thing!
I'm retuning to listen to this literally because I just listened to blackstar
+Shane Whitehurst same here
+Lorenzo Fragiacomo And here

Sad to read the news today of Scott's passing. Rest in Peace you musical genius x
resting was not his style.
I never ear or know about he, but clearly look that he was amazing
@@46metube he did like to take a while between albums tbf
How did I not hear about this?
Man I’m so sad now
@@leiferikson4700 Just listen his full work, since he was a teen idol.
This is easily one of the best songs in the past few years.. A true masterpiece. Walker has got to have one of the best catalogs of music among musical artists.
said no one ever once *ever*
Tsjanith what about the original commenter.
I used to put "The Drift" on at dinner parties, just to see the moment where the conversation stops and everyone collectively asks, "what the hell is this?"
I like your style!
Is it pretty much the beginning of it, isnt it.
Agent provocateur you. (applause)
Yeah put it on just after the Phil Collins
Ah yes, the Escape is one of my favorite tracks on the album.
this is one of the best music videos i've ever seen
Randall Der never heard his LOVEBOAT era?
As long as you turn off the sound! A pity as Scott's first four albums are among my all time.favourites
What a true avant-garde scott walker is...
this is one of the best things that have happened in the past few years

Pure wonder. Pure art.
I have a feeling David Lynch loves this.
jay larsen agreed!
i just posted something about this lol
David Lynch sucks.
Erin Wallace Fuck you
lynch usually fancies less frenetic music, but maybe.
imagine being deafened by an explosion for 10 years and then you finally get your hearing back and this is the first thing you hear
+Alex DeLarge I think I'd plunge two pencils in my ears. This is diabolical!I don't think Jackie would approve...
+Alex DeLarge no.
I echo that thought alex. I've listened to this number so many times that it's become what Beethoven's symthany was to you! :O
flol
I would think that would make it sound better.
Scott Walker is one of the most advanced artists on music!

His incredible voice
This is pure musical revolution. Probably the most important track I've heard in years

This song is one my favorites by Scott. Rest in Peace... 💔
Amazing album !!!!
Wonderful.
If Thomas Pynchon ever wrote a musical, this is _exactly_ what it would sound like.
I was just thinking exactly that!
Love this - but I have a hunch The Singing of Lot 49 wouldn’t be quite this bleak. Surreal ukes but more spike jones / van dyke parks
This is actually a fuckin banger! I unironically listen to this song
Absolute genius. Wonderful.
One of the best Walkers songs !!!
This is fabulous - a man plowing his own furrow. Thanks Scott.

Its a work of genius, from a masterpiece album.
I like this! Everything about it! COOL!
"The old man's back again." And before history anticipated. The ideal dhristmas gift for those you adore and those you despise, a burning delight in foretaste.
Such an astounding song/video. I wish more people would see and appreciate it.
Rest in piece Scott. I am so sad to hear of your passing. Very few artists have moved me the way you did.
I'm pretty salty Scott doesn't play live anymore. His recent works would sound fucking pummeling in a live setting, it would work so perfectly with its theatrical nature.
Imagine the Cockfighter being played in a live setting
I would throw up my internal organs if I heard The Drift live
"The idea behind Musique Concrète is that the composer begins with a set of “concrete” sounds and arranges them into a piece of music. This concept means that the composer is not limited by traditional musical instrumentation and theory"

Wort, Bild + Soundgewaltig! Ein Meisterwerk!

Some of us new he was different even in the 60s !
Thanks Scott Walker, for your stately and bewitching music. RIP

I'm glad both Scott and I have lived long enough for a follow up to The Drift. Hopefully we can all do it to the next one too.
Exotic and brilliant. RIP Scott
Lots of people will be listening to 'The sun ain't gonna shine' today- but we are here because this is the real shit.
Lot of people listening to whatever Walker music they loved, regardless of era. You'll understand this when you grow up.
Magnificent. Walker is a consummate musical artist who never ceases pushing the parameters of the song.
This is the future of music someday this will be pop music
This is the greatest thing ever. Seriously. I'm obsessed with this album.
What a banger
No video could do justice to Scott's music.
Remembering Scott Walker, who died today. Rest In Peace, dear one.
Hi Cindy
Got the album as a birthday present yesterday. Shocked. Positively - finally we've gotten full-fledged 21st century music...
Wow.
A pure genius at work!!!
Can't wait to buy Bish Bosh!!
Bish Bosch (2012) is a masterpiece. So glad I heard this album.
Why do you lie to yourself
MASTERPICE, I'm still trembling with emotion.
Absolutely wild and wonderful. Cannot wait until this arrives through my letterbox. Scott is the greatest, his music worth spending time with.
"Take that accidentally in the bollocks for a start"....cracks me up every time..
Such a marvelous master piece, perfectly taylored, that man was a true artist ❤
Walker made music so well so few could make it.
Genius!!!
Best song i've heard in years

in fact - only time will tell but I'm beginning to think this may even top its 2 predecessors. Absolute chaotic beauty!
