I never actually did anything with that island, it's they only settlement I never touched. It was way too big and since this is Bethesda, it would have probably crashed my game, Abernathy Farm always kept crashing my game, even before I started building.

I gave Abernathy farm an entire ring of heavy laser and missile turrets at the top and the gunners STILL decided to attack. It didn’t last long, but still. Why bother putting up defences if it doesn’t actually scare them off?
@@nicholasmoore423 and Sim Settlements 2 is also proving a bit fun if a bit clunky too. You now basically just handle power, water and setting plots down. Your settlers do the rest, like build their homes on the resident plots, food on the agriculture plots, industry to keep them occupied and working (also find you more materials), and defensive plots. Single basic defensive plot gives 16 defense points...for one unit of power. Though the agriculture plots also consume water. Not a big deal, it's 1 water for 6 food usually.
I made a glitch that let's me share recorces with Minutmen and raider setements. It's like "they're security detail because I know you're flannel shirt pipe gun self can't fight. Don't mind the decor or the fact that half of them are gladiators and the other half run a drug ring."
If you consider everybody that works at a settlement a minuteman they aren't paying a tribute, also they seem to literally exchange resources with no exploitation or hierarchy in their exchange. They're communists.
I see you don't play survival mode (or use a mod that gives you back fast travel). When fast travel is disabled, Hangman's Alley becomes a lot more attractive. Centrally located and close to both Diamond City and the CIT ruins. It doesn't come with all of the workbenches, but everything it lacks is available at Diamond City if you aren't taking the perks to build your own stuff.

The old school way, when the game first came out, was to order them to do a supply run, then catch them at the destination and order them to do a job there. The main reason I did it was so I could get up to 20 settlers quick as, once you hit 17-18, the last two or three can take a while to show.

I ALWAYS move every settler into 1 settlement. It used to be sanctuary but with the vault 88 dlc and all the free space, i moved everyone there on this playthrough. Make it so much easier and only one places gets attacked instead of every place
@@kikosawa depends on your charisma I believe. Someone had 70 settlers at sanctuary but I'm not sure if that was because of mods or not. But the higher the charisma, the higher, the the population. Anytime I ran out of room, well then the extra settlers at other settlements just "disappeared" either raiders or supermutants got them. If you catch my drift

In my latest play through. I pumped out my settlers with the top of the line combat armor and weapons. Remember if they have at least enough ammo for one full magazine then they can shoot forever.
Every playthrough I go through and thoroughly outfit every. Single. Settler. Full combat armor, upgraded weapons, at least a few people scrapping for the added benefit of having more people patrolling the premises. Watching "attacks" happen is hilarious unless the game spawns everyone in the middle of the settlement
