Agree 100% Razer is out of control with their pricing on the last 2 Blackwidows.
I’ll be waiting for your vid too, maybe a giveaway as well?
saw your videos man
Russell de la Torre dont beg
Yeah no way am I paying $180 for a keyboard without hotswap and some booboo keycaps.
@@terribletruth8201 you’d be much much better off buying a Massdrop Alt for the same price
Dude I swear, Razer bout to make a world record for the longest name for a gaming keyboard

frank legit sounded so sad and disappointed about the pricetag towards the end, i'd be too to be honest
It makes sense. You have companies like KBDFans and Novelkeys who are trying to keep their entry level custom kits in stock and around $100, so for that plus some decent caps and budget switches, you can get a full custom keyboard with hot swap, your choice of switches, type-C, the whole nine yards for around or less than the price of this Razer offering. So unless you just REALLY gotta have that 2.4ghz wireless, it doesn't make much sense to get one of these when stuff like the KBD67 Lite and the NK65 Entry exist. I feel Frank's pain, that price tag is such a miss from Razer, and I bet their marketing team knows it.
@@SolaireFlair Plus they use less materials to make this keyboard since it 65%, it doesn't really make sense
@@wreck-itralph938 It doesn't make sense at all. Not in the slightest. They're hurting their own sales.
@@SolaireFlair the fact that you compare mass-produced keeb with nk65 and kbd6ite is pointless at all. also both nk65 and kbd67 lite is barely instock as of rn. they're targeted for different consumer.
@@SolaireFlair wireless is a big factor when it comes to this keyboard and its price though. Hopefully they release a wired version that will be cheaper.
For 180 dollars I expect it to have snake oil lubed switches and keycaps from blackwidow exoskeleton
Have you seen the custom keyboard scene?
Lol $180 is expensive for casuals
@@Blaise761 bruh
@@jxkc.3941 Yes, and this Razer product is not a custom keyboard, so $180 is a pretty high pricetag despite it not being much for a custom keyboard.
@@jxkc.3941 Have you heard of Glorious? And what they sell for around that same price tag? A certain custom you may have heard of...
Razer (and even Logitech) really need a reality check on their pricing
I wish razer would try out the custom keeb scene and follow glorious, honestly would want to know what it would be like.
I don’t know but it would be like $300 for a case, plate and pcb.
I'd like to see a Razer wireless gaming hotswap aluminum board. That would be my ideal keyboard for my HTPC
I would rather enjoy the fall of the traditional keyboard brands and the rise of the custom ones.
Why would they make their keyboards more expensive just for something only enthusiasts will do
Yeah, I would absolutely love a custom keyboard with synapse!!
I totally agree! That's why I waited until the price was $89 for the yellow switch version. For my Huntsman Mini Analog I waited until it was $75. I do like Razer stuff, but I know how they work, so I just wait until the price of the item I want is where I think it should be. At the prices I'm listing here, both Minis are very reasonable, and I really enjoy both of them.
after diving deep into the custom keyboard. everything else looks cheap

I love 60% keyboards and a big razer fan, I think I’ll get this for my setup I’m making. Thanks for the review.
Razer owes you a commission, sir. Got mine today shipped direct from Hong Kong and absolutely love it. Went for the Phantom Edition with yellow switches and I’m very happy. To me, it feels like a premium keyboard, and I love the 65% form factor. I wouldn’t have considered one had it not been for your review - thanks!
is the battery built in?
@@FrancisFoo1989 it's an accessory, but luckily comes in the box. Also connects wirelessly
I appreciate the timer for the sound test cause I turned the volume all the way up
$180 OMG THATS INSANE I was actually considering it but I guess it’s back to the HyperX alloy origins core
The Alloy Origins Core is a underrated beast of a KB, ive only switched from it to a Huntsman Mini
if you do manage to find a 180$ budget its worth your time to get a custom, the quality difference is huge and you open it up to have something that is decidedly yours!

Just bought this with green switches. It's a rock solid quality keyboard with hacky loud clicks 🤩
hey frank! I’m a new subscriber and I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome content. I think adding chapters to your vids would definitely elevate your content tho!!!
Hi Noli, good to see you here 😂
Thank you so much for this amazing unboxing video I just got mine today and this video really helped
Glad that there are more and more 2.4ghz wireless keyboards that aren't full sized keyboards. We also got the asus falchion not too long ago, and cooler master is supposed to release a wireless keyboard towards the end 2021 as well.
I need a wireless TKL from Razer.
keychron has one iirc
Haha jahronmon boutta give a performance review once it releases
buy a custom keyboard, they r ovrall better
@@tealytee6244 agreed
get an apex keyboard
I’m sure it’s been mentioned but the right shift is also “non standard” at 1.75u as opposed to the 2u on full-size/TKL/60%
what i need for this keyboard ? 2u and 6,25u i guess ?
Hey Frank, great review, I agree with all your points, and yeah it’s expensive at 180, but it’s at 120 right now and doesn’t seem like a bad buy. I have a question: what are those red key caps? (Note: I found them! Tai-Hao Red and Black PBT Shine-Through Keycap Set). They look really nice, I might have to get some. Great review!
In case anybody wants them, the keycaps are the Tai-Hao Red and Black PBT Shine-Through Keycap Set.
I literally just bought parts for a custom 65% keyboard for $150, I am glad I chose that over this
Which websites did you use to build your keyboard?
65 and 75% boards are definitely the way to go! Just wish there was better uniformity and/or keycap support for them!
Would be awesome to see some latency test, specially when the usb dongle gets shared among peripherals
I'm fine still rocking my Blackwidow V2 Chroma and my Deathadder Chroma. I also prefer wired. No lag, no downtime for charging, it just works.
The right shift is also smaller than a full sized shift key.
Keep that in mind when shopping for keycap sets.
will you mod it
Yooo squashy
same question to you squashy
PLEASE MOD ITTTTTTTTTT

you do it
Heard the 180 price and was like aight I'ma head out 😂
Huntsman TE V2 with analog switches or even the improved ones from the mini with the option of going wireless - That would’ve been nice.
I bought it and already returned it, I come form gateron brown silent switches and I didn't want the green due to the noise and tried the yellows, hated the feel. Also that wrist wrest near the space bar I hate it. If they would get rid of that and offer it with orange switches (their silent browns) maybe I would be more inclined to buy it. I do think 65% is the way to go. They should keep expanding the blackwidow and the huntsman line with 65% options, and more switches options!
Completely agree with you on the price. They need to realize that their marketing and their brand name is in trouble now with all of these competitive brands like KBD Fans and Novel Keys, ect. The game is getting crowded and you can have a better keyboard, by far, about 50 bucks left. This is really a sad thing to see from a company like Razer but ultimately their business will suffer for relying on their brand and assuming that their customer base is retarded.
Bro, it's not that fucking serious. Touch grass and save up quarters in your piggy bank for an extra week and it, guess what - it becomes affordable. All this talk about company loyalty, assuming their user base is _retarded_ (wtf?)... You're lost in the sauce, my man.
5:02 Did you just drop the keyboard right before the sound test?
He just yeeted it
Good review, found a grade A refurbish with the same switches for 70 tea bucks. Immediately picked up after the review.
I think razer and glorious have the most potential to make really nice keyboards. They are listening, they are improving, and they are adapting to the new intrest in custom mechs
Lol that’s almost the same price as my full sized Black Widow V3
huntsman TE TKL is one of the best keyboard razer has created in a while.

A bit too sensitive for my taste. Waiting on a keyboard that I like to swap with the Huntsman TE.

Hey I have question. Frank. WHAT PC CASE DO YOU HAVE!! I love ur pc case every time iv seen it and I really want to see if I could get it.
It looks a lot like the drop alt that I just built but I am happy to see Razer in the 65% space. That price is just ridiculous though
I would like to see them do a wired version of this at a much lower price
Exactly..and with tactile orange switches
yea very true.
Next Video: Make the stabilizers better sounding. Wayyy tooo much rattle
I like how the wrist section slopes down. Much easier on the wrist and palms.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
5:19 Holy cow those stabs
They sound horrible
I think its better than most gaming keyboards. So they are improving
What’s the best rbg backlit keyboard. I’m getting a new setup and I’ve seen some of your reviews so just wondering.
Oh ok thanks I just didn’t know if there was a big differnce between them
thanks for the review man, it'll help decide what i want in a keyboard
Hey Frank, love your content! Can I ask you and the community: Does this keyboard also work with the new Deathadder v3 HyperPolling Wireless Dongle, or do I need 2 USB connections now? One for the keyboard and one for the HyperPolling Wireless Dongle?
"They sound like doodoo"
Spot on
I don't have any confidence in anything Razer makes and that is compounded by their horrible pricing.. You're just a stones throw away from a GMMK Pro which isn't wireless but has "gasket" mounting kind of, hotswap, rotary encoder, and just options to customize it the way you want.
I agree I could buy something for less mod it and make is sound better then this keyboard
I clicked so fast lmao
Great video! Not sure if you've mentioned this somewhere already, but what is that you're using to open packages?? I need one in my life! lolol
The part you talked about using FN+Ctrl+Number only works when Synapse is not running. I had the same issue and couldnt figure it out, finally i find why. After lots of searches it was stated somewher on there site, a bit hidden of you ask me. PS if you press the number again you can also change the colors. Not sure everybody knows that.
Another point, Chroma RGB only works when using the cable or the 2.4 settings. BT mode cant support it sadly

I was a fool to think that other gaming companies would start appealing to mechanical keyboard enthusiasts at least pricewise after the GMMK Pro.
Legitimately came back to watch this review because I'm considering this keyboard and just completely forgot about the phrase "dongle door" being mentioned in this video😂 almost made me spit out my coffee
Ik all of the quality wireless ones are expensive, especially at Best Buy, but I can defend myself for the fact i would be taking advantage of the Bluetooth for my iPad when I use it for school. Gonna miss the media keys on my Razer mecha-membrane keyboard though
It kind of looks like a copied version of the HyperX Alloy Core RGB except its a 65%
Bro what, it's a gaming keyboard they all look like that
I can't help but shake my head when I hear the stock stabilizers on a lot of these pre-built keyboards
It’s not the end of the world
@@gelbereber9559 Obviously. But those are some bad stabilizers
I actually bought it to replace my gk61 and low key fire , the price though is expensive but I have fun with it and it sounds nice - space bar which is a bit clunky
I got the phantom edition just now. Instantly sold. Very slick
$180 for a plastic keyboard with a metal plate, hopefully nobody buys this so that razer will realize how stupid that pricing is
too late already typing this comment with iti
@@Chillhoof Oh man, there are a lot of 65% keyboards that are waaaaaay better at a cheaper price than this. Heck, you CAN get a custom keyboard at that price that has better switches and stabilizers.
Royal Kludge Rk71, RKG37, Tecware B68, GMMK Pro 75%, Keychron keyboards, and a lot more.
@@Chillhoof Then you should claim it as "There are no cheaper low latency wireless mechanical keyboards than this" then "There are NO wireless mechanical keyboards suitable for gaming which are considerably cheaper" because there is a lot of wireless mechanical keyboard that can be used to game on.
Besides, we actually don't know yet if this implementation of hyperspeed is actually good or not. Unlike the movement of the mouse, there's a delay when it comes to pressing on a keyboard that adds to the response time, so there's still a lot of factors to consider. That and you shouldn't be playing competitively in wireless mode, to begin with.
@@ricardofernandez8485 if the latency is as slow as they claim then there's no harm in using this keyboard competitively for games, which is the selling point of this keyboard. We're at a stage where wireless mice is as fast as wired mice to the point where 90% of competitive fps gamers prefer wireless so why is it a foreign concept for keyboards to be used competitively for you? Besides, razer is a premium brand, you can complain about apple/Samsung prices all day just because there are better specced phones for cheaper but the fact is that people are paying for the brand
@@tsRR09 Oh no, it's not a foreign concept to me. I know wireless gaming has come a long way to the point it matches wired performance. That said, its still a pretty good argument that wired perfomance is slightly better, but I don't really think it matters to a casual player. Heck, people use bluetooth even in competitive games.
The problem I have is that he mentions that there's little to no competition to this keyboard, when in reality there are a lot of cheaper yet better boards. They may not have hyperspeed (Which I think needs testing against different keyboards), but they can perform similarly to this.
That is also my gripe: buying a product because of the brand. Its how they get away with giving you subpar products because it doesn't matter to you, what matters is the brand. I honestly think its such a predatory mindset because it preys on the people who are not knowledgeable.
Trust me, that thing does not deserve to be 180 dollars.
Frank: "You can use just one dongle by pairing your Razer products!"
Me, with Razer mouse and usb amount problems: "Omg I was just looking for a small wireless keyboard, this will be perfect!"
Frank: "Except it doesn't work with Viper Ultimate"
Me: "COME ON MAN!"
The stabilizer situation with Razer is incomprehensible.
I bought my little brother a blackwidow lite and the stabs on that keyboard are PERFECTLY lubed!!!!! Absolutely 0 rattle and when I took it apart the lube was perfectly applied.
I have no idea how the cheap version of the same keyboard has better stabs
I got the huntsman mini, having the arrow keys is definitely something I miss. Ugh I just got it too, upgrade time.
jesus christ the price of this thing is insulting, does razer realize that there are similar 65% boards for less than $70?
$70 for wireless, same performance, build quality, and customer service to back it up?
@@FalseF4CZ keychron k6 is 60$ right now lmao
@@mel-ju7kp The RK keyboards are the biggest competitor imo, since Keychron's wireless is only Bluetooth.
@@FalseF4CZ lmao you can build a custom for cheaper

😂😂😂😂
Had razor tournament and mamba since 2015, just switched to the ROG falchion 65%. And ROG Chakram. Very impressed! My old razor keys feel sooo cheap and wobbly in comparison. This looks nice though. 👍
The fact that before this video starts, there was a razer viper ad with frank in it...
Thank you for calling out razer for what they are... overpriced, and cheap at the same time.
22 sec gang
I know it is disappointing that there are no optto mechanical switches in the unit, but thats mainly for the huntsman line, blackwidow still has the og switches that most of the razer fans know and might love, hopefully there will be a wireless huntsman keyboard at some point, maybe it is already in the works.
This looks like an awesome keyboard to have!!!! Pity its not yet available in my country.
just upgraded to a 4k monitor and holy crap you look good
It actually doesn't sound bad other than those stabilizers, holy shit they need help. Seriously tempted to get one of these just to take it apart and mod it into my ideal HTPC keyboard, because a wireless 65% is pretty much exactly what I want for that setup
Which switch would you recommend in terms of smoothness and responsiveness? The HyperX Reds/Razer Yellows/Razer Optical Reds/Gatreon Silvers.
Hey RFP, have you tried remapping the secondary keys (hypershift)? In my synapse it says it cannot be remapped.
this is the layout they should've used for the huntsman mini...would've been perfect
Frank! There's another 65% wireless coming out/or out already I'm not sure but its called the Tecware B68!
This video is exactly one year old at the time I'm watching it. For me personally, I'm on the fence if I want to replace my ducky. Doubt I will but a wireless keyboard sounds nice. Especially since all of my other peripherals are Razer (Viper ultimate Cyberpunk edition, custom desk mat, and the Nari Ultimate). This board would be a good edition to complete the razer set I have (I own the star wars stormtrooper set).
I do love watching reviews of products I can never afford :)
I can build my own NK65 for around the same price. Sure, it's not wireless, but it will feel and sound so much better. This would probably be good for a living room TV and PC setup.
Thank you RFP for your honesty, thats precisely why u're among the best, keep it up man.
10:53 and the corsair k65 mini. you did a video on that remember?
Just bought this for 55 dollars with green switches, loving it so far, bought some keycaps from razer as well.
Used - good on amazon came in clutch
I like the yellow switches for gaming at night. Imagine buying 2 green for day and yellow for night lol
bf got me this today 😭 I am loving the feel of it.. I'm moving on from ducky one 2 SF to this nowww
Dang i bought the TKL version a month ago i would have preferred this. Looks nice.
So I kinda just got this for $100 at Best Buy and I’m like middle ground for contoured stuff where I just have a powerful laptop for casual gaming nothing crazy. I have a small desk and got a $25 laptop holder to hover over the keyboard. Didn’t even know smaller keyboards like this excited and I only just found out it was wireless because i blindly bought this. It’s kinda nice. Razor mice kinda feel weird but this keyboard was pretty sturdy. It’s small just like I wanted it and I like the louder clicking noises of keyboards over the silent ones. This is of course 2 years after the video and I don’t really keep up with the tech world but for a casual player, this keyboard is pretty nice
The shift is also shorter, just a FYI, standard 65% thangs.
YOOOOO, I always loved that little design on the bottom
Note that the none of blackwidow line-up have optical switches. that's an exclusive feature for the huntsman line-up.
Sad, I really like the designs of black widows
For $180 you could buy the RKG68 buy an entire set of new switches and custom key caps and probably still have some money leftover
5:03 frank throwing the keyboard on the table D:
I was just looking at the Asus Falchion which is also a 65% keyboard but this looks nice also.
Do you know if the razer ultimate can dual pair with the keyboard now? That is what I own and it would be nice to know now that it has been nearly a year since your review came out
They don't allow the Viper Ultimate to have the single dongle functionality because if you lose the dongle for the Viper Ultimate you have to basically buy a new mouse if you want it to be wireless again.
This was on sale at best buy today for $139 so I took the chance (still too expensive 😂 ). Haven’t tried it out yet but I’m looking forward to it
Off topic. What is the name of your desktop wallpaper? Big fan
First Razer keyboard that i like how it sounds.. those switches sound very good
i l ove the space bar,its like dribbling a basketball when you get some speed going on this keyboard lol
Man do I love linear switches
What brand are the Caps you put on it and is from a 60 or 65% set?
The pricing for these products on release is insane, but still better than most customs since customs you're usually paying more for materials than features. Literally one thing that prevents me from ever really diving too deep into customs is that it seems like I'm just buying materials rather than features, because at the end of the day I'm just buying a rectangle. One is plastic, the other higher grade plastic or very nice (and expensive) metals.
All in all the keyboard hobby isn't really for me with the pricing and what I get out of it isn't really what I'm looking for in a keyboard. Maybe a really nice sounding one for productivity but otherwise nothing else that'd keep me around past that; hell, even some experienced keyboard enthusiasts say that it's not worth buying aftermarket stuff due to the insane scalping done on sought-after items. There's even more rabbit holes therein with group buys and switches but I don't want to talk too long since I'm no expert. Just my opinion from an outsider's perspective.
Yeah and my problem with customs is it's hard to find with wireless dongles, they are just bluetooth.
what's that knife you use to cut open the box? it looks slim and fresh.
