This is like Peak Jerry looking rough, but still finding gold every now and again. Plus Brent just brought so much love and energy into the band. Good times.
Wow, Thanks! David Gans aired this pretty soon after I recall and athe PreFM soon followed, but I never knew Jerry broke a string towards the end. When Brent belted out "song a song, play guitar, make it happy" the only thing that kept me from tears were chills going down my back. Don't think I've felt that since Jerry died Thank you very. Much for posting. I can't say that enough !!! 😅 ❤ 👯👯♀️👯♂️
Me too. I always liked Dear Mr Fantasy and didn’t like hey Jude since I was ten, eleven years old. But now, almost 65 I finally listen to hey Jude And mr fantasy with Brent is better than the original with Steve Winwood
@@z1205 especially during the not fade away.. the way jerry and Brent are just really feeling the music and laughing at each other was special. It’s a shame they didn’t have that kind of friendship outside the band. Brent would say how once the music stopped her rarely saw the members. It’s understandable, it’s just a job after all. I’m sure they all felt guilt, though none of it was their fault.
I was front row and remember clear as day the string pop. Big Steve Parrish fixed that fast. Thought set2 was done given that but no Sugar Mags to our delight after Jerry just smiled and rolled back to band. Brent. What a player/performer

7:00 is everything I love in this world.
Was there. Thanks for the post.
Brent was the soul of the dead.
I've always said he was the heart and soul of the band. After he died things shit the bed
Pigpen was the first though but Brent was awesome!!!
Grateful Dead died after Brent’s era. Even Jerry never more was the same
Yes! Without Brent Grateful Dead never more was the same
Brents working it- nice job
Only show I didn't go to spring tour '90. Couldn't get into 🍁
can anyone listen to this without tearing up?
I can’t listen to “good times roll” 1989 at Alpine Valley without crying. Brent is so happy in that video.

uh, yeah!
I guess whichever string broke it was crucial that it be fixed mid song.
That's why I love this one
I was there and had no idea this happened

Is this the only time Brent did the whole Hey Jude song?
Yes
I was there too. It was amazing. They started early.
What a keybird player
Brent ❤🎉
At least Jerry didn't punch his band mates
It's horrendous garbage like this that makes little baby Jesus cry
Ok John
Why are you watching it?
Hahaha wtf
Yknot???
Who else had the balls to play it???❤
Ugh.......
