- I love this performance, and while theres a great video (linked below) thanks to Christopher Hazard, and a good quality soundboard (linked below) thanks to Joani Walker, Paul Scotton, and Charlie Miller, I wasnt happy with the audio mix of any of them. That's the point of this, to be the best sounding version of Brent's final song.
The soudboard isnt available to download, so using a virtual audio cable I recorded the flac from the internet archive (taping a Dead show? who? me?) into my DAW and put a few hours of work into amplifying the highs and lows cleanly. All the detail was there, I just had to pull it out, and I think I did.
I did a little video editing but not much. The soundboard cut starts abruptly so I did some audio work to it, but this would've made the first chunk of the video a blank screen. I took the graphic from the little break they had leading up and moved it over to give you guys somethin to look at. I also played with the exposure a bit to make it look less washed out.
If you have any questions about how I did the audio, or if you have any songs you'd want me to touch up in a similar way please leave a comment! I had fun doing this.

Memory lane. 3 beautiful nights at Tinley Park. Watching Brent 33 years ago still brings tears. RIP Brent Midland. No more Heroin demons
Addiction is a symptom of PTSD. Most PTSD in America is from child abuse.
The demons weren't from the heroin. The heroin calms them.
Huge love for Brent!! May he rest in peace.
What a super special way to begin my day watching and listening to everyone sing along.
Phil it up!
Twas there, Elga said to me ,"Brent's hurtin' somehow" God rest them both
The end of an Era 😢
The best era. Never more Grateful Dead was the same
R.I.P Robbie Robertson..🥀
Brent was always my favorite member on keys. What a voice! I love what Bob did on this one, too! And it's always good to hear Phil singing solo! ❤
Brett last’s show. His last line was “I gotta go, but my friends can stick around.”
Yep. Brent Mydland's last show. May he rest in peace.
Wow , I never knew that was the last lyric he ever sang , 😢.Long live the Grateful Dead .

❤️⚔️❤️
Thank you Brett for all the wonderful memories… Rest in peace.
i've always love Brent! RIP my love!
Thanks for sharing this. I was there. I'd just discovered The Last Waltz and was obsessed with this song. Was psyched to see the Dead play it. So painful to learn of Brent's death two days later while the music was still ringing in my ears. RIP
3 days later on the 26th
If you listen close you can hear me and the wife cheering.
My first dead show was in '67 when the Filmore was in the Filmore.
Not perfect but perfectly Dead! Thank you for the share.
thanks for your hard work on this! It sounds great.
Brett ewas incredible
Love the lighting...the music, sound, performance...amazing.
I almost got run over by the caravan of vans and limos carrying the band right after the show. They definitely beat the crowd out of the venue on their way to the airport.
So good
Thanks for sharing this. Great song played by a great band.
Let Phil Sing !!! They let Phil sing in this one. 😃👍😃
My last Brent tune @ R.F.K. 1990.

7-12-90 at RFK was legendary for us deadheads. Take a step back folks
Brent ❤
It doesn't matter how far you shank the ball into the woods. I go on a journey to find that ball.
jerrys emotive solos are unparrelled...
We are getting old so why not?
RIP Brent 🌹
This may not be the high water mark but it's certainly the beginning of the end
Your end
The golf ball landed softly by the cup.You know, like in your dreams.

I hope you agree with the sentiment. Free ice creams for children. They are loved no doubt.

If you are you might want to work the free ice cream vans and reeavualate your thoughts.

PLEASE stop posting that he sang “I gotta go but my friends can stick around.” That isn’t what he sang, nor is the original. It goes “….my FRIEND can stick around.” Sorry if that isn’t cosmic enough for you, so you can tell yourself he knows he is about to die…
Democracy. Let me hear you policies. Will they win me votes?
I don`t know , it is strange tnat the Dead let Bob Weir let sing one single in their career. He can`sing for christ`s sake !
why don't you get a life?!
Can you do better?No

I think you must be talking about Phil? Great bass player....
I think he was saying that Bob can sing so it's a shame they didn't use him more.
Great show horrible venue.
He had to go, but his friends hung around.
