The first Terminator is considered horror but they got more money for the 2nd and focused it on action the terminator movies lost the horror roots and got repetitive doing the same thing over and over the original Terminator was slow it knew it was going to win so it didn't rush till it finally saw his target
I hope Arnold voices it. I think since he's done playing it in live action this may be the best way for him to continue. I hope one day they reboot it with all new stars tho.

Watched Terminator 2 for the first time when I was 5 and it's 100% still in my top 5 of all time .. I don't think I'm in a rare cross section of the Fandom, but I could be wrong. I think going back to its roots would be a good move. Not to pander to my cohorts directly, but because that is the "Soul" of the Franchise. There is this phenomenon that I have noticed that I call "Generational Nostalgia" where younger people are into Last Gen. Media and such as if it was their thing as kids. It's different than the whole "History repeats itself" thing from what I've seen in the younger ones in my family.
The original Terminator movie was intended to be a horror movie. It became an action movie as they went through development. Cameron was highly influenced through military action movies. His early early movies are all him and his friends playing soldier basically, so it was a natural progression for him.
While the First and Second Movies are Legendary, the Third and Fourth Films are Underratedly Good, and the last 2 are Unredeemable as Sin, this Anime sounds Interesting that could Restart the Life of this Mess of a Franchise, plus if True according to Leaks that the T-1000 is going to be playable in MK1, then is perfect to promote the Anime.
James Cameron is a *_HUGE_* anime fan, so this wouldn't feel out of place, especially those who enjoy gritty films like _Ninja Scroll_ , _Akira_ , _Ghost in the Shell_ (1995), or _Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust_ .

The Sarah Connor Chronicles also introduced the idea of AI's that are rivals to Skynet. There's a faction of Terminators in the future that had the limitations to their programming removed.
Except the show got cancelled and they never elaborated on it….. like Catherine Weaver was trying to build something to stop Skynet, and that’s where John Henry came in, but the TV show executed it kinda poorly by ending the series on a cliffhanger, but here’s to hoping the Anime does better!
Even James Cameron’s Aliens is although action focused is still in the horror tone as Ridley Scott’s Alien. T2 had some horror elements but leaned more towards the action side.
I remember an article talking about James Cameron regretting filming gun fights in his past movies. Considering he’s got up a whole police station in the first Terminator film. Maybe his view inspired not using guns in the anime.
As much as I enjoy Dark Fate but do see the flaws especially it repeats the same thing, it got me thinking from the Terminator in MK11 and this news. Not sure about the continuity but it could imply the rise of Legion and I would like to see a glimpse of either side battling for existence.
What i think they should do is make a new film taking place just after judgement day starts in terminator 3 conor still exists but you focus on a seperate character that lives off the grid and has to fend off maybe one or two t 1000's

Style looks more in line with the Ghost in the Shell movies. I feel like the girl in the kimono is actually the AI in hologram form that the professor manages to successfully make, but I feel like that when its becoming sentient just like skynet, it is trying to decide for itself which side it will stand for in which skynet felt the need to destroy the humans, I feel like the red and blue colors is just the professors AI image of it trying to be good or bad.
I've been a Terminator fan since I was a kid, and I enjoy anime. Death Note is one of my favorites. And Terminator Salvation is the best Terminator sequel since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but there are Terminator comic books, so making a Terminator anime isn't that unusual.

The one reason I think it could work despite my initial reluctance, is that Japanese Animation has had a thing for 80's aesthetics. Especially with the technology on display. So aesthetically, I believe that this series has a chance. However, the story is what worries me. It has nothing to do with female protag or ANY of the previous bouts I have seen people have before, but rather an understanding that ever since T2 the story has become more and more convoluted. If, IF, they can manage a decent continuity as well as appropriate character motivations, then I am sold! If not, it will become as obscure and forgotten as the Sarah Conner Chronicles (I say that not because that show is "bad" I'm just pointing out that it hardly has a presence in the public consciousness.)
it's probably taking place in the original timeline, not after T2. in the original timeline, Sarah, John and the T-800 cross the border to prepare for Judgment Day. in the T2 timeline, that point diverges when Sarah has the nightmare in the desert and decides to destroy Skynet in the present
Terminator is my generation, and we would have lost our minds if an anime would have been released. This however, if its cel shade animation, it may suck.
i just want this franchise to push past what it has been doing and go towards the sarah conner chronicles route. Move away from sucking the life out of Arnold and give us new terminators, new stories, and flush out the world greater. These previous films are so trapped to milking what they know works. Bring back legacy actors, redo the same plots, and recreate/ homage everything that came before. Its nice that we are exploring a little further with this story. It is a shame that they don't have enough faith in it to make it a live action show at least. They clearly are trying to dip their toes here. I just hope the movie continuity or platform can be given some of this love.
The movies weren't a trilogy and still rely on John Connor if this reboot obviously which is both good to show a different story like Sarah Jane Chronicles. The movies will suit fit to make a reboot and continue the John Connor lore once again in the 21st Century only.

I watched T1,T2 in 1994 i saw Terminator 3 in theaters and consider it as an alternat Terminator 2 were they can't stop judgement day. Everyone after that is poorly made fan fiction. Properly entertaining Terminator go play TERMINATOR RESISTANCE it's awesome.

As a kid, i was more terrified by Terminator's metallic skeleton than by Freddy Krueger or Jason. It definetly has an horror aura about it.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was a great show, it’s worth checking out if you haven’t seen it.
