    If a critics score is more then 50% or so below the avarage audiance score they aren't doing your job right.

    This is just a theory I have but I think the reason why Rotten Tomatoes is hiding the critics score is because the audience scores tend to be a bit higher than the critics' score (although, that's not always the case) and they probably thought that most people wouldn't watch these movies if they see a negative score from the critics. So, they show the audience score instead if the audience score is high. But even sometimes, the audience score is just as low as the critics' score.

Ultimately, you as an audience member have to just trust your gut when you see the trailer. Usually don't comment but felt the need to share my opinion, since it looks like I might be in the minority here. The website redesign I don't care about. I never expect website redesigns to be better than they used to be. The Google results are shady though. They should be like AMC and just display both the Critics' and Audience scores. There's definitely enough space.
    Studios going off of Rotten Tomatoes scores is stupid. Tyler Perry's pretty darn financially successful given the budgets that he works with. Yet his Rotten Tomatoes scores are all over the place and lean a tad bit more toward Rotten. The big studios (so excluding A24, Blumhouse, etc., though yes, this still applies to them, just not as much given their more limited budgets) care almost solely about making money, so there's no reason why they should be skipping out on someone like Tyler Perry just cause of Rotten Tomatoes scores.
    Unlike a lot of people in the comments, I don't mind critics as much. As I've consumed more and more movies and shows, I think that I have developed the critics' mindset a bit of where I'll reward something experimental but maybe not super mainstream just cause it dared to stand out from the crowd of all of the other films that I've watched. At the same time, I can still appreciate a film that doesn't try to be spectacular but just fun and will usually end up with a higher Audience Score compared to Critics' score.
    I think that a big issue is that a lot of people just look at the Critics' Score and base their decisions on whether or not to watch solely of that. I think that the Critics' Score should always be just one of many tools that you use for your moviegoing decisions. I also use the Verified Audience Score, the Cinemascore, the box office, any potential word of mouth, and reviews from those whom I'm subbed to on RUclips (including you, Cris). I avoid IMDb almost completely just cause I've found that the audience score there is so easily manipulated. I've noticed for years if not decades now that any film lacking a straight white male lead gets bombarded with one star ratings on IMDb, likely from people who will never see the film (The Woman King is a good example). At least with Critics' scores, Cinemascore, Verified Audience Scores, and the legit (i.e. not anti-woke rage bait) reviewers here on RUclips, you know that you're hearing someone's actual opinion on a film that they watched rather than their political views.

Isn't there just watching it to watch it because they like it or they don't in my opinion. It's a lot better to have the audience score rather than the critic score because the audience is more the average for everybody. well I mean does anyone really care about what the critics think? I mean most people, the majority of people will watch something that interests them and if they can see that normal average people liked the movie then okay 👍 the only bad thing I see is that if the audience score might be too biased? But then again people already thought the critics score was baised so ??? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I don't like the new Rotten Tomatoes layout at all.. you just have to know how to decipher the scores. It could have a 90% but all those 90% could have all given it 7/10. When Rotten Tomatoes looks real ridiculous is when they put up on top 20 or top 100 list be some Rotten Tomatoes scores. That really shows how flawed the system is lol.

  • @simcard027
    @simcard027 Месяц назад +1

    1. rotten tomatoes is a joke and not at all indicative of a movie's actual value
    2. critic scores have for ages been pretty much the opposite of what the general public feel about movies because so many of them are schills who suck up to the studios so that they can keep their access to early screenings
    they've been praising movies that push the studio message and bagging out movies that don't tow the line for years and they're only recently starting to come around because they've been called out on what they are doing and the fact that they are a joke
    if you want an accurate idea of a movie you're better off watching a wider range of youtube reviewers and getting to know who has similar tastes to what you like in a movie and trusting that as a guide to what you might like, not a percentage score on rotten tomatoes

    • @AlexMartinez-nj9io
      @AlexMartinez-nj9io Месяц назад

      The Rotten Tomatoes percentage isn’t a score for the movie, it’s just the percentage of Critics who gave a movie a 6/10 or higher.
      If you want to talk about people who are biased and suck up to movie studios, those are audiences.
      Yes, look at reviewers who have the same tastes as you, or stop listening to other people and make up your own mind.

      @@Sean-132 I didn’t say critics intend to piss people off. There was a scandal last year about a PR form paying critics for positive reviews on RT. They also had the critics hide negative reviews. So it’s been documented. Look up Bunker 15 and RT. I agree that some movies are boosted/bombed by groups of people too. But it’s more corrupt when it comes to critics. It’s a business for them.

    I don’t trust audience scores. People are trash and have trash tastes. I have taste in music, I wouldn’t want my opinion moving someone’s purchase. Critics are good to a point unless a movie is political and against a certain agenda, they are pretty on point and base it more on actual movie elements, like plot pacing etc. If you get low with the audience, your movie is probably complete shit, like Zack Snyders rebel moon lol.

      Critics scores are there for a reason, yeah they can be biased sometimes, but audiences will always be more biased than critics. I enjoyed the Mario movie too, but I can’t deny that it doesn’t stand on its own and has an incredibly generic and thin plot.
