  • Peaty's asked me to test their latest Holeshot Biofibre tubeless sealant as thoroughly as possible. After a ton of riding in all sorts of tires and a load of lab stabbing I can honestly say - and show - it's the best I've ever used.

On the basis of this I bought some. Can't actually say I'm that impressed. After a puncture on Sunday's ride my tyre was still bubbling out fluid and spraying it everywhere last night. I'm not quite convinced this is a miracle solution and I may well be going back to Stans.

Same here, you may as well buy some milk and mix it with porridge oats. It doesn't solidify. The test in this video is pointless, even though puncture seals at first, as soon as you roll over it again, sealant sprays again. There is no way this can seal anything bigger than small 1 - 2mm holes. Even if you leave it out, for days, it won't solidify.

Thanks Guy for the good news! Peaty's seem to go big and produce things stronger and better. An example is their carbon paste, I had a slipping seat post (a problem with a certain cycle brand), someone recommended it and their paste was noticeably grittier and stronger, if fixed it instantly and when you touched it, it was clearly a lot meatier than the supplied brand. Not surprised to see they've come up with good tubeless sealant. A side by side test with stans or similar using the same screwdrivers would be good to see. Keep up the good work many thanks

Update to this. In the last six weeks since buying this, the new improved Peatys sealant I have to say it couldnt seal a pin prick. I've had three rear wheel punctures with them all spraying the White gunk over my arse, dropper post, frame and rucksack and it's murder to clean off. The holes were roughly 1mm - 2mm and they wouldn't stop spewing out even when stationary. I've had to put a plug in the tyre in all cases.
Sorry Guy but your testing method and result are at odds with my findings. No way will this ever plug 6mm holes Holes when you are on a ride.... Its shite.

Following some of the other reviews here, I have to wonder what testing was done on very small holes. I've just come off a ride in which I had a nick around 1mm length right in the centre tread on a 28mm tyre running 60psi. On the plus side, I was able to complete a further 30 miles or so without stopping - however, the seal blew out every minute or so and has still failed to seal overnight with the hole at the bottom. Perhaps the hole's not big enough for the sealant and its fibres to rush fast enough to plug it? It's all very well testing 2mm and larger, but if it cannot seal ~1mm effectively, it can't really be advertised as suitable for road.

I've been swapping tyres pretty much year round. I've always tried to find the best sealant out there and something easy to clean. I've tested Stans, Muc-Off and Effetto Mariposa cafelatex. The only sealant that hasn't let me down is Stans for best sealing ability. Efetto is also good but it gets dry really quickly (less than a month) and also is a huge pain to clean. I know that ammonia is not the best option. As far as muc-off goes, it's by far the most useless sealan't i've ever tested. It cant even plug a 0.5mm hole. The only thing that it does is that it slows down the leak by a little. Eventually using muc-off I've cased two tyres because I was losing pressure by not even knowing it. Stans has plugged a little tree brunch and I was able to get back home without adding any air. Overall I will never change stan's for anything else.

Thanks Guy, from which production date we can be sure that the sealant is the new formula? There is a lot of it in one of chain shops in Poland, and I am just curious did someone just stick a 'New formula' sticker - or is it this newer one? I really give kudos to Peaty's team, this is how all things should have been done, how this progress should be made. I wish they could use this time to actually tell the long story behind what they needed to do and how long it took them. That would be 20 min YT vid that I would really really want to watch as a documentary film. Yes, that can be interesting. Yes, that also could be great marketing power to show how long it takes to get things straightened-out.

I have bought 5L of this crap, based on this video and it is useless, an absolute joke!
    For reference:
Road bike 28/30 tyres at 55 Psi - it doesn't work at all
Gravel bike 47/50 tyres at 27 Psi - it slows air leak, but it doesn't seal
MTB bike 2.5 inch tyres at 15/17 Psi - it slows air leak, but it doesn't seal
It woudl not recommend that to anyone. This product is almost as bad as OKO Magic milk.
