I'm a Desert Storm vet, I went to basic at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. Your videos are great for new soldiers going in, We did not have social media back then only your recruiter words of wisdom lol.
One thing i noticed in my basic training class of 2012, no one failed. They were either medical discharges or quitters. About 33% of my platoon washed out from those issues and i don't remember a single person who actually failed and got recycled. Just keep a level head and don't quit and you'll be okay.
My boyfriend shipped out for Fort Benning on the 19th, and these videos has been helping me have an idea what he's been doing, and it's somewhat helping me with feeling like he won't be gone for too long for some oddly reason lol
My girlfriend left on the 14th. I’ve been watching all his videos to help her out too and get more knowledge on what she’s doing while she’s there too. She’s started BCT and is only a couple days into red phase and I miss her so much already
It bothers me that you wore a red shirt for red phase and a blue shirt for blue phase, but not a while shirt for white phase ! ;-) Awesome video nonetheless, you've earned a subscriber ! :D
Grenade range was one of my favorites, so was the SAW range, and a few others. I most definitely agree that seeing an AT-4 round go off is impressive. They chose a 5 foot female soldier to shoot off the live one, and darn near put her on her butt.
Daniel Sullivan kinda worried about the grenade range because I suck at throwing things where I want them IRL, I know they give you duds to start with but still
Thank you SO much for your videos! My husband is at Basic at benning now and it's been so nice to hear what they are doing because he really doesn't have time to write a ton about it!
He is in fact right about the EST range. I am not old enough to join the Army yet, but I go to a lot of military owned public places for people to see and try different things that are in basic training. By far, my favorite was EST
My son is in fort Benning at Basic Training and I was curious about white phase because he starts tomorrow. So helpful and now I know what I can ask him about or mention in a letter. Thank you
The day we marched out to our final zeroing range I was one of four soldiers that collapsed with heat injury and wound up spending the night in the hospital.
I would not be surprised if they really did run out of ammo. It is a pain in the neck for some units to return unused ammo. We had to get a special order from the battalion commander to store some unused ammo in our arms room overnight. We had to have guards stay there at night. We never left a range again without shooting all are ammo. If everyone had qualified and we still had ammo left we would just switch to burst and go through ammo real quick.
I was the company guide on carrier from the third day of basic till about 7th week. They gave it to a different platoon because they beat us on one of the tests. Carrying the company guide on meant I was always in front on road marches I never had to eat the dust in the back, I was also usually the first in line for the chow hall.
Ms Marie 11b infantry! I'm gonna try and shoot for airborne after but I'm gonna have to wait and see what happens. but hell Yeah! what are you shooting for?
boosted_bailey kuch well if u put ur mind to it im sure ull be able to ..good luck with that ! 35f or 35g ..intel analyst or geospacial but theyre closed for now.leave date was early may so now if it opens in may ill prob leave in june lol .
I still have a few years until I can join the Army, but I definitely enjoy watching these videos. Really, my only fear is failing the monkey bars and being recycled.
They bring the video game range around to high schools now. Its in a little trailer and when they came to my school, you could either play with the EOD bots or go to the video game range. They had boys use an M9 and girls use the M4
Going to the range almost always sucks regardless of BCT or not. If you get a chance to ever go to a range run by Special Forces make sure you go those fellas make it fun.
Wonder how much OSUT changes this stuff, I’ll be curious to see what the change is. If the AT4 thing is based on the range I might actually make that. I’m a pretty good shot I’m just not as experienced on irons so that should be a fun challenge. Going to basic after shooting thousands of rounds over the last year so really hoping I can shoot expert, but gotta try for perfect. I think the rifle qual is a little different now but not sure if that’s been implemented yet. If I had an optic I know I’d be able to smash the rifle qual.
@14:42 MREs for....... lunch. Also @27:40 I think the more apt comparison would be doing the same except putting the safety on and applying constant and significant force to the trigger. Better hope that safety works. The safety in the 'nade's case being the pin, because in the same way the pin keeps the lever from opening far enough to trigger it, the safety on the m16 keeps the trigger from closing far enough to.... trigger it.
So I took the Future Soldier Training Course on Land Nav and I have the basics down but those 8-digit grid coordinates are super tricky dude! Do you have any tips on getting those down? I can never seem to really eye ball the exact tic mark in between the half tic mark and the number ones. Is it just educated guessing?
Hey matt i'm more of a hand to hand combatant guy (judging by my experience in muay thai and boxing), how hard is it to shoot the guns? Should i get an airsoft gun to practicr shooting?
Were the drill sergeants aware of the heat of Summer? How did they monitor your health, since you were in peak Summer? Were you issued sodium, potassium , and some kind of carbohydrate to prevent or treat it? The only thing im worried about is the heat.... Thanks for your videos!!
I did BCT at Benning in summer (July-Sep), it is indeed hot AF and the DS's are well aware. The biggest thing they constantly bang on about is hydration. You're always wearing a camelbak, they always bring a water buffalo (basically big potable water tank) to ranges, and they'll occasionally check your camelbak's fullness by squeezing it. Also, for my company at least, we had to have these little beads on a string tied to our camelbaks that we would use to keep track of our water intake (for half a camelbak, slide one bead up IIRC). Sure, you could lie about it, but it really did behoove you to track your intake honestly, lest you become a HEAT CASUALTY and get to enjoy the other tool DS's use for heat mitigation, the ice sheets. They're basically bedsheets soaked in a cooler filled with ice and water. They strip you down to your skivvies and wrap you up and tuck the ice sheets in all your crevices (pits, neck, crotch, etc). On a particularly hot day, one joker volunteered to be ice sheeted, and ultimately said it absolutely was not worth it
Damn basic training really changed you get to use your own phones and got radio privilehe damn. We got to use the payphones and that was our only privilege like twice in basic. And never got no radio privilege
The only time we ever heard the radio in basic was so the Drill SGT’s could smoke us in cadence. Never forget it was that Kanye West “Money Right” song.
HarveyRR. J_YT Lul ikr 😅 ima make a whole video about how many times we gotten smoked & post it on my main channel. Everyone experience of basic & AIT is different just happy to have grad
Mark Murillo I think you’re referring to the rest. Morning PT is more involved. Different exercises meant to improve your pt test performance. Like burpees and mountain climbers
Not read, but they'll definitely open it if there are obviously pictures inside. My then-fiancee sent me some pictures, and one of them was of us together at a waterpark where she was wearing a bikini. Before they gave me the letter, they made me take that picture and put it in an envelope to mail back to her. Probably for the best, at that point in the cycle it would have definitely been a distraction...
Oh i have that letter it tells me about graduation dates and family day and videos to complete i did that but it does not state if i need to inform them who is coming with me thats what i wanted to know ?
Angie Flores how long did it take for that information to come to you? I’m curious, because my son left recently and I’m not sure when I’ll get his grad dates and all of that.
KDreezy Gaming You won’t see an ACOG until you get to your operational unit. Maybe not even then depending on your MOS. I was at Carson for 2 and a half years plus a year in Iraq and never had anything but iron sites. I was a support MOS so the Army determined we did not need an ACOG.
Hey man, I'm going to Benning on the 25th and your first video gave me a great idea of what to expect but you never really talked about if there's any time throughout red phase when you get to call/write to family and friends
Ok thanks i dont have Instagram account but i was curious about family how do i let them know who is coming with me to see my son i heard they need the info
Your son will send you a letter with all of that information with how and when to send in that information. That won't be until about week 5 of basic training though so you probably have 1-2 months before you find out the exact graduation date and all of that info.
LeykaiCSGO! Subscribe! Hey dude, 31k was also my dream... Then I talked to a recruiter. The odds of getting it as your mos while enlisting are basically zero. Most 31Ks have been in the army for years before requesting to change to it.
thanks for your videos. my son is at fort jackson right now....week 2 of white phase should start tomorrow. He haven't gotten any phone calls. I'm so sad. I'm on a fb moms group and several moms from his same company and platoon got reward phone calls from their kids tonight (july 4) If he's not getting reward calls does that mean he's not doing well? I'm kinda worried now :(
It has to be in your initial enlistment contract to have it guaranteed. Anything besides that is not guaranteed. I didn't get it in mine and my recruiter made me think I could do it after training but I didn't. I should go soon but it will just depend on some luck/timing/right place right time.
So in basic you can take your personal phone, but they get taken throughout the phase, and at the end we get them back to call home and talk about what’s happened, is that correct? Please reply, I’m getting shipped in October 2019
Back when I was about 9-10 years old I was staying at a friends house and we stayed at his sisters house and she had a live grenade and she was showing us it and she dropped it by accident and the pin came out of it and me and my friend left the house until she said it was safe to come in 😂😂. She picked the grenade up and put the pin back in the grenade.
Hi my boyfriend just left for basic training at fort benning a week ago and i was just wondering that you stated that it the white phase on the 19th day you got phone privileges on sunday after church .. is this every sunday or just that one sunday?

We basically winged it!! Jul - Sep 87 for me...
My son is currently in week two of white phase and these videos are spot on of his every day activities.

Not complaining but I thought the same thing lmao
whites add another load, i get this guy lol

AT4 almost put her on her butt???🤔
@Green Gobby yah I passed it on my second try, they fucked me over by trying to get me to spread my legs super far, I couldn’t make distance
My husband left a couple days ago, and it makes me feel better to know what hes going through. I've watch so many of these kinds of videos...
is he as fat as you are?
In my basic the highest rifle score shot a real AT4 and the highest PT score got to set off a claymore.
Kog aww they actually reward people for getting the best score
That's kind of sweet. They should of put a little bow on the AT4
2-19?
Thank you SO much for your videos! My husband is at Basic at benning now and it's been so nice to hear what they are doing because he really doesn't have time to write a ton about it!
You got a 30 minute call?!?!?!? Our calls were no longer than 10 minutes! And what radio?! So much for relaxing Jackson
John Gooden he went to benning bro
William Braxk but John went to Jackson. He’s saying that the stereotype that Jackson was easy is wrong.
John Gooden when did you attend BCT? These kids today have it a lot easier than in the old days regardless of where they go.
10 minutes? The average is 30 seconds to a minute.
I think he might have said 30 seconds, if not, I’m hope that’s what he meant lol
He is in fact right about the EST range. I am not old enough to join the Army yet, but I go to a lot of military owned public places for people to see and try different things that are in basic training. By far, my favorite was EST
You are an Awesome MAN! Thanks for helping your brothers!!!!
Always enjoy your videos. My son is at Benning as we speak, and he is in White Phase. Your videos help me understand a lot of things.

How much weight did you carry on the Ruck Marches? And are you allowed to do a little jog or do you stay in formation?
So are there any points during basic training where you get some down time like socializing, writing in a notebook, etc.?
Tail end of white for my SIT. Blue, black, gold come on!
Hey you forgot the 3rd component of the ARMY in your intro man we all train together

did the radio have a cassette player & would we be able to have cassette tapes?
this is awesome to watch
I am going to talk to a recruiter next week. I am 32 years old and I wanna hear your experience on 30+ age going through BCT.
Do it. I'm only 23 but in my bct there were multiple 30-36 yr Olds as well as 1 guy was prior service and he was 52. You can do it
@@davontahenry6904 thanks, I was seeing how the training aspect would be in a body that’s 33 of age.
Radio and 30 minute phone calls does not sound like white phase at BCT is like it used to be.

Could you do a video explaining PTs and Ruck marches?
More details about PT every day. Do the Drill Sergeant get mad if you fall behind on a run?
Yes
Mad? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey matt i'm more of a hand to hand combatant guy (judging by my experience in muay thai and boxing), how hard is it to shoot the guns? Should i get an airsoft gun to practicr shooting?
It's not hard and whatever fighting experience you have or don't have makes 0 difference with shooting
Matt Ward should i get an airsoft gun and practice shooting with it?
Matt Ward i live in nj and my parents dont allow guns in the house
iron khan that’s gay, why?
Denny Rice because their pakistani parents who don't believe in violence at all.

question...on a ruck march do you have to run or are yall just walking
Pretty sure they just walk
I don't think some of the trainees get a chance to call their family because it's almost the end of the white phase, but my son doesn't call us 😔

So is the rock March running or walking 🤔
Fast walking basically
It's called a doubletime march. It is somewhat difficult to write, but it is sort of a half walk, half march.
HarveyRR. J_YT Yea during that time I didn’t know but I leaned when my time came to half right face after my platoon fucked up during ceremonies 😂😂😂

Iron sights

Hey man, I'm going to Benning on the 25th and your first video gave me a great idea of what to expect but you never really talked about if there's any time throughout red phase when you get to call/write to family and friends

Illuminati confirmed at the very beginning of the video 👌 haha just joshin'....but the possibility IS there....dun dun duuun.
Is it only the morning when you PT or is there more later?
after the morning PT you can basically call PT "corrective training"

and also when do you get to write your first letter??
You can send out a letter the first day of basic. Not at Reception. Also, phone calls generally happen on Sundays. It is NOT every Sunday though
Matt Ward do i have to wait for him to send the first letter or will someone send his parents his mailing address? i’m really struggling here hahaha
Matt Ward and also how will I know that he is out of reception and starting basic training?
