They were unreal in the 90s from pumps to shack noises to iversons and the nikes were unreal from the primes and bo Jackson’s to all the mid 90s hoop shoes the Griffey’s were one of my favourite shoes as a kid thos and the 2nd pennys

It’s a great shoe, a OG classic...I just wish it had a little bit more of that Teal color on them

As a kid growing up in Seattle in the 90s it was an incredible era for sports and sneakers. Griffey. Kemp. Payton. Didn't get much better than that. Also love the intro to this video with legendary Mariners announcer Dave Niehaus and one of his MANY Griffey home run calls. Many nostalgic vibes with this vid.
Good thing Ken and Kobe have the same jersey number. Both #24 GOATS.
OGs were The. Most. Comfortable. All. Time. Wore out 3 pairs in a row - two white and a freshwater, plus cleats, then two pairs of Griffey Max IIs. Love these but a little bummed about the Max bubbles not being as good, but stoked they’re still making em!

One day at work years ago...i tried explaining to a "younger generation" co-worker that the 90's was were it was at when it came to sports. Almost every team in every sport had legendssss on their team(s). It def was a great time to be a sports phanatic.
One day on the internet, I replied to a comment made yrs ago, to tell a guy who thought he was telling the “younger generation” that the 90’s were where it was at, when I was born in 1970, and the 70’s and 80’s sports were where it was at. I still have 3 pair of Jordan’s the yr they came out. 2 actual color scheme, one when the alt came out. 2 were court only and look new, one I wore to school but was a OG sneaker head since a kid in the 70’s and my mom was ok w/it, cuz I took my good ok’ time to have a growth spurt late teens and I cleaned my sneakers carefully by hand w/soap, water and an old soft toothbrush on the bottoms and laces by hand. Sports, even surfing/skateboarding/BMX, pop culture, and music was waaaay better. By the mid 90’s it was all downhill. 😂
Every Gen thinks they had it best, but kids born after the 70’s will never understand or know what it was like to grow up w/the freedom of ppl like me (and before). I had leftover 60’s, all of 70’s, teen of 80’s, college grad early/mid 90’s. Tech emergence in the 70’s and 80’s rocked too. Nah, you’re the 90’s kid was my nephews and they didn’t experience what we had.💪

I'll never forget, as a kid I got these. I played baseball, and Griffey was my favorite player in all of sports even over MJ at one point. One summer day, I was wearing these around the swimming pool area in my back yard, and we had wooden fence enclosing the area. A couple of the wood planks were down and needed new nails and fixing. Playing around w my brothers, I stepped on a plank while wearing this exact shoe, and a Nail went through the bottom of my heel, right through the flaming baseball, popping the airbubble, and getting blood all over!

I just started collecting Air Griffey’s this summer 2022. Best shoe I’ve ever owned. Got 3 pairs so far. Wish I would’ve made it in time for these though, beautiful shoe. Super comfortable.

I had a pair of penny 2's in 6th grade...1997. I popped the air bubble and sent them back to Nike for a free new pair. (This was a thing back then)& They sent me a fresh pair of the Griffey max 2's on the day they released. I had never even seen the shoes before but i was too siced when i got them. I was a baseball player so i got the cleats too. Still one of my all time fav shoes

I think the point that LeBrons were like the barkleys of the 90's was meant in a hierarchy sense sort of way or second tier not build specs. Yes people Jordan's were the best even back then

The reason why the naming is like that is because NIKE tried to do like an Air Jordan thing for Ken but they didn’t want to leave out the platform the shoes was built on. Didn’t work out too good. 😄. Kinda of like with the “Swingman” logo.
