I wished they had shown us more of Laena, she seemed badass and cared for her children and family so much, this past episode was a shocker as always and the next one is gonna be amazing I can feel it. If one notices, Vhagar does not completely set Laena ablaze as she would an enemy. She only delivers enough flames to do the job. That's loyalty. She does not want to destroy her rider. She only wants to serve her, by honoring her last plea. Poignant and powerful scene.
Vhagar loved Laena, as all dragons love who they bond with. As someone who's been through so much, Vhagar looked so sad yet knew what she had to do for the one she loved.
Vhagar had waited a long time without a Worthy Rider of Herself choosing for so Long. Vhagar actually almost had tears in Her eyes before being asked/commanded to kill her Dragon Rider.
I was impressed at the dragon's reactions/hesitations to her and finally that sweet, sorrowful wink when he realised she was serious... That was the finest display of a dragon's emotions so far... I do not recall if he released a cry of lament like Drogon did for Danaerys... Now that would have been a nice touch...

Vhagar is one of the Oldest She Dragons/Dragons known whom had lived so many years and seen so many dragons produced from herself and dragon Riders riding her. It had been a long time since she had found another Dragon Rider, a very long time in our years. So after she was commanded to burn her Mistress she hesitated, and you can feel the sorrow and pain when she let loose that fire upon Laena's command to relinquish Laena's life. She was going through a mood you can almost see the tears in her eyes 👀, 😭
Maybe more than just sympathy... He realised what the thirst for power had turned Danaerys into... Hence why he chose to destroy the Iron Throne instead... Drogon understood it better than most humans in Westeros...that power corrupts... and the throne, the coveted by all throne, was the very symbol of that...
@@rijoenpial Bit strange that they made him so intelligent tbh. It's logical that dragons can sense emotions but to know his mother's downfall was the pursuit of the iron throne seems far fetched. Then again many believe the dragon riders and skin changers are soul bonded to their animals and live through them after their human death. If that's the case it was Daenerys sparing Jon

@@slanphere not really 🤷🏻♀️ her show version wasn’t done justice compared to the books. In the books, Rhaenyra, Laena and Daemon were all close. The show diminished her character so that they could push Rhaenyra and Daemon, plus her daughters are pretty important in the future so 🤷🏻♀️ doubt I’ll be forgetting her anytime soon
In the books they had a very loving relationship and their daughters were both fearless like their father and beautiful like their mother
just remember that laena loved vahgar from childhood, while aemond just needed a powerful dragon to show off.
Her death scene is so heartbreaking. It made me tear up the first time I saw it

Extremely gorgeous
This show just created a great character in 5 episodes that one wishes for a whole season of them. Hope her kids got her "bad Assness" might make a continuity of her through them.
The girls did get both her and their father's badassness, Baela especially fought... Oops, no spoilers... And Rhaena was the one with the last....sorry, spoiler again. They're just both very badass, daughters of Prince Daemon, the wonder and terror of his age
Don't worry, they did their parents proud. Rhaena and her twin, Brave Baela they call her. We'll definitely see more of them in the coming times.

I know she was not a major character in the books, but I instantly liked her character when all she really wanted to talk about with the KING of Westeros and someone being pushed on her as a future husband...was dragons and how cool they are. My favorite character of the series so far and too few scenes, but in the ones she had, she made an impact.

Poor Laena 🥺, her cervix muscles must’ve weakened after giving birth to the twins. I’m surprised that in that time era, they didn’t use lubricant(oil/grease)and tongs or a puller that is used on cows giving birth to calves. Then the story could’ve continued to go along according with the book, Fire and Blood, making her child born as a stillborn and her dying from sickness after childbirth and instead of wanting to die in a bed, she prefer a “dragon rider’s death” and attempts to do so by going to Vhagar but she never makes it. Hell, they didn’t even expand on the kinship between her and Rhynera.
Since this happens around the time of Middle ages, only thing that might have worked though leading to a dead baby and possibly dead mother is hook.
Dragon rider’s death - I do wonder how many dragon rider's deaths were caused by their dragons... In the book it makes sense here it's just suffering for the sake of suffering

In the book yes. In the show, he treated her as a placeholder.

Yeah would've been better if they'd shown at least 2 seconds of Daemon running around the mansion searching for her and seeing her outside and picking up pace and running towards her... For one moment make it seem like he'd reach her, since Vhagar hadn't been responding but have that moment of peace snatched away from us by Vhagar burning her at the last minute. That could've made it so much more powerful. And maybe if Laena gave one last glance to Daemon or even just turned back to see him running to her, that we could've been free to interpret as she really did love him even if he did not fully. She gave up her home for him, gave him two beautiful daughters and 10 years of a stable, happy marriage (bcz let's face it, Daemon and Rhaenyra's marriage would never be peaceful thanks to her station, and his presence a constant threat to the Hightowers and ofc viceversa)

it breaks me in tears everytime i wach the death scene. although i prefer this before how she dies in the books, this is more beatiful and tragic, showing us the sensibility of the dragons for their raiders

They're rushing through SO much. Nice to see nothing has changed since season 8 of Thrones then.
Its somewhat rushed but the content and writing is fantastic. Characters are actually characters again and the dialogue scenes feel rich again.
@@TheRealHerbaSchmurba I don’t disagree but if Thrones had this pacing then by the middle of season 1, Robert would be dead, Ned would’ve been beheaded and Rob would’ve already called the banners. They’re giving us key moments but rushing the human relationships. I hope they have it all laid out because if they haven’t then the pacing is fucked.
It isn’t really rushed. The show is about the Targaryen house. It will go beyond Vicerys, Alicent, Rhaenyra, Daemon, etc. I think people are missing that. It is just laying the ground work for the stories that come after them.

I feel like he has a lot of pain inside and that he hides it. He seems to like having a family and does seem to love them, but the world seems to be in conflict with what he truly wants.

*Alicent:* Most newbies aren't getting it with her. It was Emily's whitewashed version of her that went 180 on Alicent's real character. The older versions were casted first and probably shot their scenes first. That's why they were the ones featured in the teaser last year. How Olivia is portraying Alicent is more accurate. She is more of a manipulative b*tch like Cersei.
*Otto:* Dubbed Middlefinger and a rival to Daemon. One of the most hated characters in the Dance and in ASOIAF lore. The one who helped started this whole mess by pimping his daughter to the king and ratting out Daemyra.
*Larys:* Probably the worst character in the series just in terms of morals and ethics. We just witnessed him hiring prisoners to kill his father and brother without any remorse.
*Aegon* *II:* We're already seeing what a d*uchebag he'll turn out to be by going full Homelander. Imagine if Bran witnessed this instead of Jaime and Cersei? For sure Bran would stop climbing up walls thinking he's Spider-Man. Be blinded by Aegon's "Splatoon".
*Aemond:* The only bad-ss from the Greens but also a bigger d*uche than his uncle. Escalated a war. Drew first blood. More of a Daemon wannabe who will never be as great as the OG.
*Criston:* Incel.
*House* *Lannister:* *Jason* *Lannister* has got to be one of the most unlikeable d*uchebags in the TV series.
The only likeable Green is really Helaena and guess which d*uchbag she ends up marrying and having children with? We don't see Daeron in Ep 6 who happens to be the youngest child and less problematic son of Alicent.

How the hell do people root for the Greens? Because they think Alicent is pretty? They have the most and biggest c-nts in the series. People rooting for the Greens would be like someone rooting for Germany and Japan during WW2.
The Blacks have Daemon Targaryen and Caraxes. That's all most fans needs to be rooting for the Blacks. Jace, Luke, Baela, and Rhaena are better kids than most of Alicent's kids. House Velaryon is probably the most likeable family in this series and they're siding with the Blacks.

I've counted 18 dragons. Not 17 that was promised. There's a chance they won't show Sheepstealer since Nettles isn't really part of the Blacks but she is allied towards Daemon. Or they may not show one of the kid's dragons or Vermithor or Silverwing by excluding Hugh 🔨 or Ulf. So far, we didn't see Daeron. If he's excluded, then there would be no Tessarion.
The Blacks have less c-nts and more dragons. Go, Greens! 💚 🤣 Be different. Be the contrarian because you want to be the smartest person in the room like you're Kyrie and want to stand out more by rooting for obscure characters nobody cares about or has no real importance to the story. The Greens are a joke to most fans but go hate on Daemyra and root for the losing side.
But Rhaenyra is too lazy to be queen. She cant ev3n be bothered to pop out legitimate children to be future kings. She just has strong bastards. She wanrs to be Queen, but doesnt want any of the responsibility that goes with it. She makes the Greens look good.

Come on guys, so she had power to go outside, in such a hurry that Daemon was too late to save her, but couldn't push, and the way she gave up easily as if she didn't have other kids, we all know how mothers fight for their children, guys come on, we all know that Daemon will end with Rhaenyra, bt the way they cut Laena like that was so sad and too early
I believe being a mother was not more important than her identity. Leana was the kind of badass woman, graceful yet fierce, kind yet prideful. Being a rider was part of her soul, it was her identity, I perceive it as her living to her own character. She just did not want to live a life she did not want, even if it meant leaving her children behind, and as tragic as it is, I think it’s a death worthy of her, and her teachings to her girls.

The baby had a chance of survival, if she continued pushing or if it was cut out.

We saw her charred body on the outside of the castle right before the shot of her daughter crying...
