There are not so many better games in this category right now. I think only GT Sport is better with graphics and community, little worse with content and physics. And ACC is better with graphics and physics, but less with content and gameplay. Anyway official license is always something special.
Also really easy to get it going in VR compared to some games. Triple Screen is also a snap. Performance in Triple screen is also really good. Just stick it on your Steam Wish List, and filter it so it only shows specials if you can't justify throwing the full quid at it. I still would though. (Sorry Vic, I'm sure you own, and are happy with it - that last part isn't aimed at you)
Mark Smith. I’m afraid if you want to go sim racing in VR it is PC only at the moment. The next gen consoles should be a different matter though. I bit the bullet and bought a gaming PC to play sims in VR and don’t regret it for one second.
I realise this is subjective but I can't say I agree. ACC and iRacing look incredible in VR. I don't agree that PC2 is better than either of those. For me iRacing is the best looking game VR or otherwise because of the lighting and natural colours, that makes it more immersive IMO. ACC just looks beautiful. As far as looks in VR PC2 comes behind those IMO.
Yeah. But best VR in the original Assetto Corsa. I have both games. AC has better lighting and cockpit is much more realistic. In addition, it is possible to walk around the car and see each detail.
One thing I would like to add is that this game has some of the most in depth vehicle tuning on the market, perhaps only being beaten out by iRacing. And the ability to share setups is a great feature. Something else I find really nice is that every setting, both in setups and in the settings menu, has a description telling you what that particular setting does. For people who aren’t very fluent with that sort of stuff, it makes things far easier
@@kierenboimufc5940 Racing doesn't work like that though. Different styles mean different setups work for different people. There's no one size fits all comparison that really makes any sense. Usually that's the excuse of the people who can't setup a car to go fast.
Wow a balanced review of PC2 - very impressed. I agree on most points, including being puzzled why Namco haven't permanently reduced the price yet. At least recent sales have been 75% off.
@@Lorderlands not exactly project cars 1 and project cars 2 are more realistic in terms of physics. To the point where it's recommended to use a wheel instead of a controller
Playing in October 2020, making friends on the online community and having fun. I got a 85% off deal on steam on the full game, all DLCs included and it worth so much!
Bought the deluxe version via steam summer sale, loved it as my first taste of simracing. Even though I have to drive with a keyboard. I had to wait for my t300rs to arrive, and after that I even loved pcars2 more. What makes Project Cars 2 stood out is probably its game design, especially the career mode. Combine that with solid graphics, and decent force feedback, it's a better game among other available simracing titles for me.
2 years later i still daily play. The best for me with raceroom. Best looking on triple screens, best content. I only want the same with better sound and ffb.
I never had any beef with the FFB in Project Cars 2, and once saw a real-world race driver playing it on an expensive rig with VR. Whilst praising VR as a great tool for teaching new track drivers, he also went out of his way to praise the quality of the FFB. I guess the real world just isn't as realistic as that enjoyed by so many sim-racers these days.
@@lars_2109 I really couldn't recall his name, mate. It was a video on You Tube, and judging by the comments and the video itself I would be very surprised if he wasn't wholly legit.
Been playing this game for over a year, and its still my favorite. Multiplayer can get a bit sketchy sometimes, but I'd say 9/10 races are clean. Check out my literal 1-2 videos of driving in a day on PC2 online and what can sometimes happen. Lol
I love pcars 2. It is the best all inn one sim. It has its problems though. First and foremost, engine braking is well, fucked. Like properly broken. Increase it to the top two clicks or turn it off completely. Secondly, the FFB though good, suffers from two problems. 1. There is some graininess to it you cannot get rid off. More noticeable in higher end wheels. Reiza says it fixed it by reworking the road meshes. Unfixable by ffb mods. 2. The lack of y and z momentum on the ffb. Luckily Christiaan at the pcars2 official forums fixed it. It adds consistency to a lot of the content since certain suspension geometries are highly affected by it. Simracer604 did a video on it and I recommend it to everyone. Kind of meh cars like the GT3 become really good and already good cars become excellent. Must have! Despite this, I feel that the best kunos' cars in AC fall short of pcars 2. The FFB in pcars2 feels more natural and dynamic and less canned. Definitely worth a buy at a discount. Rc, please try Christiaan's mod. You will have to edit the file to increase the FFB strength to 150% but it brings pcars2 close to rFactor 2 in terms of FFB.
@@reyvr6 really, you felt the need to come all the way here to comment on a 5 month post with that single line... That is some dedicated vitriol right there. Oh, sorry but you are wrong.
Really good game, especially if you are new to sim racing. Community events, leaderboards, good leagues (aor, otl...) and great car/track selection create interesting, fun and (quite often) really competitive and fast community. And keys are quite cheap nowdays... I still think that physics and feel for the car are more believe in AC, but I've spent much more time racing around in pcars.
For me I never really liked anything other than the LMP1,2 & 3s in PC2. Found driving gt3s super difficult they seemed to just loose grip unexpectedly...
I had that problem, the cars just seemed to swerve out of nowhere even on straight lines but I managed to fix it by adjusting tire pressure. The game (and even the devs it seems) lead you to use tire pressures that are just too low. I took some theories out of Forza 7 (not quite a full fledged Sim, I know), and set them to about 1.8/1.7 (1.9 on street cars) and that behavior stopped. Did a few laps on Spa testing those settings and it was a breeze compared to before.
I bought this game in September 2020, making it around 3 years old. I bought it (Deluxe Edition) for 719 INR on the Steam sale. It's really a good game. I'm new into Racing SIMs (so not so good in this game), earlier I only played Arcade racers, but believe me, after a bit of practice you'll be able to play it very well. But to play it, you need to leave behind your Arcade racing mindset. I use Xbox One Controller and it plays well with it (You don't need a Wheel and Pedal setup, but it won't hurt if you have).
I got this game in January, for a measly 8€. I played most of it on a controller, but since upgrading to a T150, it's a new game entirely to me. While I also own Assetto Corsa, Competizione, Automobilista, Dirt Rally, iRacing (just got it a couple of days ago) and Wreckfest, this is the game I'm most likely to take for a spin just for the fun of it. ... Oh, and it made me fall in love with Group C. Group C is bae, and therefore, PC2 is bae.
@@diegobert4033 Absolutely not, sure at first it takes a lot of tweaking to get the controls right, but once you have that figured out it's great. I'm happy to share my controller setup with anyone interested. :)
@@martinmeyer4479 Okay here's what I last played on (an XBOX One) controller with: All deadzonzes are at 0 (yes, actually zero) %, and the sensitivities are as following: Steering 30%, Throttle 50%, Breaking 50%, Clutch doesn't matter since I use auto-clutch and Speed Sensitivity 100%. So the numbers top-to-bottom should be 0, 30, 0, 50, 0, 50, 0, whatever, 100. I hope you find these enjoyable as well, or at least use them as a starting point and alter them to your liking =)
@@green90s very nice, thx u very much. I'll check out these settings as soon as the game arrives (or already in the demo). I the default setting I found, that it needs a lot of joystick input till it first reacts, but when it does, it has a very high sensitivity. I would prefer, that the cars reacts as soon as you push the joystick. Btw, I play on PS4. But I assume it is comparable.
My experience is spending 10 min looking for a race, another 20 min waiting through practice sessions and quali, then being punted in T1 of a 5 lap race. I love the game, but every time I go to play online, I spend an hour hoping to get even 5 minutes in of decent racing.
Yeah the game relies too much on too many long countdowns online. Like when qualifying time ends the game gives enough time for everybody to finish their current lap. Which for a circuit like Nürburgring/Nordschleife means if you're sat in the pits when the qualify timer runs out you then have to sit there unable to drive for over 8 minutes while everybody finishes their lap (unless they have the sense to finish early by returning to the pits through the pause menu) which isn't fun. Qualifying should just abruptly end when the timer is up with no waiting. Then you have another 1.30 (or 2 min?) timer for everybody to "get ready" or make last minute changes to set ups before the race starts. You can't go away to make a drink or anything though while waiting in case all the drivers go back to pits early or click "ready" early and the race will start while you're away. It's my main gripe with the game. Still love it though.
I love PC2, especially when using Cristiaans Pure custom FFB. This changes the FFB where the game had almost zero FFB feeling now can drive and feel everything like it should. This is on a belt-driven Club Sport v2.5. I haven't tested it on anything else, but it seems everyone else that tries it has the same results. forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?66720-Christiaan-s-Pure-FFB-(Custom-pCARS2-FFB-File)
I have assetto corsa, gt sport and this game. I just bought this game. It was on sale. I barely even touch the other two now. This has such a variety and the detail into the cars and how they drive is unreal. Not to mention it actually has a career mode you can move up in. With a wheel and pedals this game is awesome
An awesome game that is way too inconsistent. Sometimes it acts CRAZY in certain circusmstances; rain, bugged qualification results, undriveable road cars, weird FFB.etc. Otherwise, it has many satisfying moments and is defnitely worth playing. (PS4 player here)
Unfortunately i agree, certain aspects of the game are very nice but the inconsistency and weird road cars (Not very car) physics is just a big put off.. Not to mention the tracks quality is not good to be honest. Memorable mention goes to the best weather system I saw in a game
One thing I don't like about PC is its physics. Cars are somewhat twichy, I don't feel the weight of the car. Maybe it changed with updates, but I will choose Assetto or Gt over it.The dynamic weather is great though, should be standard for every sim on market. The track roster is amazing too.
The game (graphics and handling) is awesome dispite the fact i would love some more famous circuits like Zandvoort and/or the current F1 tracks. (the smaller UK tracks are great btw) But i really hate the way we have to search for a online race... That sucks big time! Found a great race to join? Waiting...waiting...waiting ...to find out it has already started or it has become full. And then you have to log out and start all over again to find a decent online race. But that said, PC2 is still the best buck for the money. I love it!
For me Pcars 2 has only one big negative, and that is the FFB. Even with the custom FFB profiles, the game is still far behind the rest of the sims. Too bad it is one of the most importamt thing in a racing sim. I really hope Reiza will be able to solve that in AMS2, because the rest of the engine is amazing. Especially the weather engine. For me the dry->wet->dry transition is the best from all the sims. You can really see and feel the dampness of the track chaging, and the racing line becoming prominent quickly when drying. Also great is the way weather can dynamically affect tarmac temperature,s which then affects tyre temperatures, which then affects pressures and grip. Often I find myself pitting during dry -> wet transition not because of the wetness of the track, but because I just cannot keep the tyres warm. Also temperature itself has big effect on setup and tyres choices, which is also not that often seen in sims.
Absolutely agree with the FFB. But the other stuff you like is stuff I don't like. The way so many features are implemented in PC2 are just overdone and gamey. I like realistic sims and had high hopes for PC2 but the game just disappointed on so many levels. I honestly preferred the original.
@@pizza_parker9689 IMO PC2 does not have realistic weather and it is one of those things I refer to as being too gamey. It is canned weather and I think nothing about it is realistic. The only way I can enjoy driving in PC2 is to avoid settings that allow the weather to change to unrealistic. The puddle effect is over done, cars race in unrealistic conditions. The tyre temperatures and effects are also overdone. Like I said I had high hopes for PC2 based on what it promised and claimed but there is a reason most serious sim racers refer to PC2 as simcade. As long as the features are realistic I'll take less features that are realistic over more features that are not realistic any day. PC2 is a hot mess. It has a ton of features that would make it incredible if they were realistic but they are overdone and gamey and more often than not the result is a bizarre driving experience that isn't realistic at all. There are some moments in PC2 that are actually good but it is impossible to escape the smear of turd in that game and there is always something to spoil the experience. If you want that fully featured "realistic" experience, RF2 is much better than PC2 but even then there are elements to RF2 that spoil the experience for me. For me the reason iRacing stands out as my favourite has a lot to do with what they leave out. Although iRacing also has its turd stains iRacing more often stands out because they don't like adding features unless they are realistic. Now as of the latest update on iRacing sim racing has been reduced to less than a handful of car that are essentially in beta on the new tyre model v7. While still a turd of a tyre it is my favourite tyre to drive of any sim and I can't enjoy driving anything else now. And it is still a bit of a turd, it's just that everything else is a bigger turd in comparison. That's my opinion.
The Authentic Steve why the hell are you comparing Pc2 to rf2 and iracing? Also you keep saying ”gamey” and ”overdone” care to explain how they are ”gamey” and ”overdone”?
@@pizza_parker9689 The answer to every question you just asked is obvious. The features are not realistic. Overdone and gamey as in exactly what those words mean. Weather is overdone, the effects are exaggerated and unrealistic, the conditions you race in are unrealistic also just like all the features of the game. They are exaggerated because it is a game. As Ian Bell has said these were design choices. He also talked about giving people conditions/options they don't have in real life. A sim is something that tries to simulate reality. This is not what PC2 tries to do, PC2 has game features that are exaggerations of reality. The comparisons were explained. RF2 comparison is a more fully featured sim that is also more realistic. iRacing being my sim of choice because I prefer realism over lots of unrealistic features. My point with iRacing is having more game features like unrealistic weather does not make a game realistic. Having realistic features is what makes a sim realistic. PC2 is a game with lots of features. iRacing is a sim that has more realistic features. The weather for example might not have rain in iRacing but the weather in iRacing is more realistic.
My answer is yes. I used to throw shade on PC2, once I got it, it became my #1 preference for racing. I have become so much a better racer with PC2. I play on a controller and being allowed to map my controller is an important feature. I have a disabled left hand, having my throttle (trigger) and brake (bumper) on the right side helps a great deal.
You forgot to mention the fun times when pitting the car. One promise the devs couldn't honour. Btw, SMS could learn a lot from Forzatech's PBMs. _FM5,_ _FM6,_ _FH3_ _and_ _4._
It was on sale for a deep discount on Steam a few weeks ago. I toyed with the idea of buying it to add to my stable of PC sims, but decided to pop my PS4 version in first and see if I really wanted it. I’m glad I did that, because it reminded me how seriously janky a lot of the game is. Compared to Assetto Corsa, to ACC, to Dirt Rally, it’s got very little going for it. I saved my cash for better things.
@Tony A. which is OK. People get value out of different games in different ways, and I'm getting a lot of value out of the three that I mentioned. Bear in mind that quantity does not equal quality. I'm having bucket loads of fun just playing ACC, and it has one class of racing cars and only a handful of tracks. Among racing sims, it's given me perhaps the most intense and immersive experience in a high quality package.
I always had a weird relationship with this game. Bought it for about 25 dollars, which wasn't that cheap and didn't play it for more than 10 hours and have no desire to do so, it just sits in the library. Despite all the content, great optimization and easy multiplayer, I still prefer to play AC
@@paulthomson9709 AC on pc offers so much more that it basically makes it a different game compared to ps4 version. Pc2 is slightly less of a sim compared to ac, so no wonder it's harder - I know the pain, I played for hundreds of hours on pad. Overall pc2 is a good game IF you end up liking it.
Seems like most guys here are on PC but I’m on Xbox and it’s a game I’ve spent a lot of time on so here’s my short summary: the connection issues on Xbox are unacceptable and is where I place a lot of the blame for the empty lobbies, the ice glitch still appears every so often, and the slow down system is one of the most enraging thing ever with the way it’s set up. Despite this, I enjoy the game a lot, and I’d like to be able to get on PC for the next game because it’s clear the attention won’t be given to consoles.
I'd say it's okay to grab it. If you don't want to buy the DLC, then try find the "Edition" one, like Day-One or Deluxe. Mind you with the bugs and glitches that prevent you for completing some Affinity Events and Invitation Events.
Just got the Deluxe version for 14.90 on XBox, I'm really happy with it. It's quite unforgiving sometimes and has quite a learning curve compared to other titles such as Forza (which I play regularly), but I guess that's what makes it a sim-racer. And especially after learning the basics of the tuning for the cars and creating some baseline setups, it's quite an enjoyable one too.
Unironically continues to get better as other devs drop the ball on their respective releases. Also now has SRS compatibility. It's like an opposite reality version of rFactor 2 where it's easy to create an online server in just a few clicks, and there's an insane amount of licensed content.
@@krzysztofmajda2386 Still am, but like, what's factually inaccurate about what I wrote. You can wait around all day for iRacing to put NTMV7 on all their cars, or implement rain, or you can play pCars 2. You can wait for ACC to add all the tracks you'd like as DLC, along with several other types of GT categories, or you can play pCars 2. You can wait around for rF2 to get a bunch more mainstream licenses, or you can play pCars 2 which was constructed with the same base physics engine.
What you are doing is cherry picking good things about PC2 while saying bad things about competition. All sims have issues and improve at slower rate we’d want. When will clutch bug be fixed in PC2. I use H pattern shifter and actually have to use clutch in other sims. How about support for recent controllers? I think fixing/support stopped after a year. How about FFB? Why so many people criticize it spend several hours tweaking it and finally have to resort to custom file like Christian’s to make it decent. How about ability to actually have race with AI that is not stupid. Both those things work great in AMS and rF2. OK iRacing doesn’t have rain and snow, but it has multiplayer service with ranking system that works so well that it has way more users than PC2, despite being ridiculousy expensive. Most tracks aren’t accurately laser scanned, but other technique that doesn’t pick up all bumps etc. Physics are good, but there are issues like drifting, curbs pulling outside track, cars handling are inconsistent. Some are great. Ok Graphics are good but too much post processing effects, eye candy and actually not that realistic if you ask me, with issues like shadows flickering. Sounds are average but people can argue about that. I could go on but point is all sims have issues that players can find disqualifying. I hope PC3 will fix the issues, can have less, but better polished cars with realistic handling out of the box.
@@krzysztofmajda2386 Clutch was never a bug. We had it properly modeled at launch and boomers whined that they kept missing shifts. It's in the forum, I think Ian Bell personally responded to it.
Perhaps I don’t get something, but if it was working as expected then why add option to enable it in Gameplay settings for those hardcore sim racers that want über realistic experience?
They just tanked the price down to 15 bucks for the full package today with the announcement of the new one! Finally justified picking it up thanks for the great info!
I'm no expert so I can only talk about my own experience - I started playing PC2 with a controller (as I was coming from PS4 with GT Sport) and found the controls to be abysmal. So I finally got a racing wheel for christmas (G29) and thought this would solve all the problems. No, not even trying the several recommended settings from RUclips I found a satisfying way to control and enjoy cars in PC2. I then got both AC and ACC and immediately it felt so much better and more intuitive - it's insane. The lack of a dash cam is also an absolute no-go IMO.
You have to make changes to the car set up to personalize it to your driving. Some settings work differently to other racing games too. For instance EVERY car I drive I always go into car set up under ECU Settings and turn Traction Control up to 100% and what this actually does is turn OFF TC. If you read the description for this setting you are actually adjust the amount of slip allowed. So 100% lets the wheels slip as much as they can with no correction from the ECU. I always turn TC off in driving games so to begin with I was turning this down to 0% but then the car just cuts power whenever it's close to losing traction. I wondered why the car had no power as I tried to accelerate out of corners. Once I realized and turned it up to 100% I could drift around corners like I wanted to and driving felt so much better.
Hell yes. Massive content. Some not so hot but take those out it still has more great content that anything else. Fantastic vr implementation, great immersion. I just don't get bored. Ofcourse there is plenty I can see done better but overall package it's still my no1 go to sim.
Bought project cars 2 gold for 17€ even for only singleplayer in 2020 it’s a nice game to get started with for the price, especially because there aren’t any big racing games coming up right now except for F1 2020
PCARS2 hands down has the best VR of any sim I have played. It's quite nearly plug and play from the start with a few tweaks here and there depending on your preferences and specs. The graphics are fantastic as well, even in VR. I just wish other classes were more popular online. I don't understand the hype for GT3 but not GTE + LMPs. Can't wait for Project CARS Revolution though.
PC2 is the perfect solution in my use case, I'm more or less an aficionado, even when I spent a LOT of time in the sim, I don't pretend to be a prosim or anything like it. I have several sims, assetto corsa, race factor 2, iRacing, and others, but the one I keep coming back is Project Cars 2. I bought it in launch day, that day I got a VR headset and I was blown away, it worked very good with an i7 7700k and a 1060. The problem I have with the others are that are too cumbersome to use with a VR headset, either the interface is crap of you have to remove it altogheter or you need to use a mouse.
I enjoyed this video it really covered a lot of top topics on this game and also talked about some of the more touchy topics that people don't talk about in P cars
PC2 is my least played sim compared to RF2, AC and R3E BUT I do enjoy it, if it’s the first sim I play on my days off. This helps me forget how poor the ffb is compared to RF2 and AC. It has my favourite versions of lmp1, indycar, formula Renault, Le Mans circuit, long beach and imola. These elements are what make me come back to it. If you love sims you would be crazy not to own it, especially when deluxe version is on steam sale it’s worth every penny and value for money.
I have to add that cars are way easier to drive on controller (PS4 here) if compared to Project Cars 1. In the first game, I couldn't even drive the McLaren P1, for example, whereas on project cars 2 it's one of my favourite cars, very easy to drive. They also added full traction control and full stability control, as well as opposite lock assist. If you liked the first one, you'll definitely like the second one.
@@ontariomotorsport7038 @Ontario Motorsport...any relation to the old Ontario ,Ca. track? I saw an F1 exhibition Race there, back around 1970-something.
I do like the game itself but it is the only game on console that will crash every time I open something else in another window and come back... it crashes the whole system. No other game does that. I am also not a fan of their official forum or moderators... that is the only way to register any issue unfortunately. After a bad experience with their forum moderators I have barely played the game since and I stopped recommending it to people. Prior to that it was one of my favorite sims and I used to always recommend it.
I haven't played in about a year plus and thought to just test out this new graphics card that I just got. I don't know if it was me just retaining a lot of the stuff I learned a year ago while playing but the controls feel so so so so so much better and fluid. Even just me knowing I'm a bad driver playing on a ps4 controller, I know when I mad a mistake. It's not jarring or uncontrollable like I first remembered. I really want to get back in it now....That was fun!!
GTE, TC, Clio Cup, Indycar, and some other cars are excellent. I always create 25-30 min. lobbies with 24h day and night cycle, so much fun with 15-20 players. The factory ffb not so good, but some custom ffb files are excellent. My favorite racing title for multiplayer.
@@Hamisxa This is on PC, presume it's the same on console? Car setups don't always stick (STILL!!!). They don't always display properly either. Like gear ratios, they nearly always bug out for me. For example 5th gear will be set to something like 1.500 I'll highlight it and click right once and it'll change to something obscure like 1.433 and then it won't go back to 1.5 no matter what I do?? it'll stick at 1.433 So i'll leave it then when I race 5th gear will be set up completely wrong. I go back and it's back at 1.5 again?!?!? Sometimes I can change gear rations other times it wont let me with the SAME CAR.
once i got the best controller settings off some youtube videos this game was fantastic to play. there is still the odd car that are difficult to control like the porsche 918 spyder and the go karts but for the majority its great fun.
It’s a great game but my problem is I can’t get a good feel for the game with my G29 it’s always clipping or the wheel snaps mid turn. I have that with AC but only on some of the cars. With AC I can actually play the majority of the vehicles just fine. Particularly the F1 cars. In PC2 the Indy car works the best for me, as well as the Classic Le Mans cars. GT3 is okay but could be better. The V8 Supercar doesn’t work to well for me and many other cars. It’s just annoying having to change the settings for so many different vehicles. I wish it was more simple to get my wheel settings just right like in GTS or F1 2019.
It's worth noting that the cars still handle like shit and on ice. There's also a huge qualifying exploit where you can close the radiator completely to add speed, and since there's no real consequence for hitting other drivers, multiplayer is still a huge shitshow.
It is not a bad game for what I do with it and I also got it on sale quite a while ago. It is not my top racing game and looking forward to AMS2 coming out and always new updates on my other racing games. I dont do online with PC2 and once and a while hop on a few tracks and do some quick races. Wish there were more tracks, but that is not going to happen now. A little bit unclear what format this possible Project Cars 3 is going to be, so that is a wait and see for me to see what it has to offer and if it is even any better than the current Project Cars 2. Allot of games now are locked into a specific car series which I hate(not enough cars or tracks), so not sure what PC3 is going to provide. Thanks for the review.
The problem is knowing what and how to tweak. There are a myriad of options which just add up to a confusing mess......... I want a simple "Thrustmaster T300" button to press and for it to just work. Maybe I'm being unrealistic but it's like that in other driving sims so why not PCars 2??
In this day and age of unfinished and bug infested game resleases are a common thing for game publishers(y'all know the greed by now)so waiting for a game to mature if it ever does that,so waiting 2 years is the ideal timing for buying games, you get a great discount, and if your lucky the game got some major updates since release. It's like the golden rule if you want a new car:"never buy a new model the first year of release"
I recently got the deluxe on sale from Steam, and I was pleasantly surprised. I remember looking at some complaints about PCARS 2 on a couple of forums, but I really didn't pay the comments too much attention. I just surmised that the game was bad. The end of summer sale comes around, and I grabbed the deluxe edition for cheap. I think I paid around $30USD for it. Once I fired it up, oh boy! I was floored by what I played. I did try the Panoz GT1 right out the gate. It was a hand full (as it should be) but I felt at home driving it. I had spent a good hour and a half running the Panoz, before I remembered to get rid of the annoying superflous visual effects. LOL. After my time with the game, I recommended it to a couple of friends who don't have it. It's a good grab, when it's on sale. So I pretty much agree with your take on it. Thanks for the video.
I've been playing both PC1 and PC2 in the last week so it nice to see this video. Been a while since I did play them both and I forgot how good the game actually is. It mostly got beaten up because of the controller settings but I've never had a issue with it as I spent hours fine tuning the set up and once you get the set up right for me is been the best racing experience to date. I also use a wheel when I can be bothered and I feel like I'm on that track. Thanks for sharing the video have a good day
"Wasted potential" sums it up the best imho. Some cars are really fun to drive, others handle terribly. PC2 also is right in the uncanny valley between Sim and Arcade. For a "true" Simcade game like GRID it's too detailed. The graphics are cool, especially wet races are amazing. Overall, it's a good game, but I prefer AMS and iRacing for "hardcore" simming and stuff like Wreckfest or the F1 games for a relaxed experience.
I don't understand why many keep slagging off Pcars2. The Force Feedback can be fixed with at least two third party mods. The range of cars as standard is incredible. So what if some of them are not the greatest to drive. There are still more excellent cars compared with AC out of the box. The menu systems are beautifully designed, there are infinitely better car setup options than AC and you can effortlessly download other people's setups in a few seconds within the sim. The lighting, tracks and weather is on the whole excellent and on a modest system you can get very smooth performance. It's amazing value to buy with frequent sales and though some bits of Assetto Corsa are good, Pcars 2 is way ahead in so many aspects.
I got gifted a HORI Apex wheel for Ps4 the other day. I have no past experiences in the racing genre nor any knowledge of any cars at all but I am very very intruiged. I picked up Nfs Payback yesterday as I heard Heat isn't compatible with the wheel I have and I think that an actual SIM would be my preferred route. Going to pick this up today and I'm very excited to delve into an actual SIM.
Exactly what I want too just like in the F1 Games. Best game mode by far. Assetto Corsa has it but that game is appalling on the console so I uninstalled it after 2 days. Thankfully I only paid £10 for it.
@@Logan912 Automobilista 2 wil have PC2 graphics and automobilista physics and stuff. Can't wait for that! Hopefully it will also have big modding community
@@lerouxvermeulen4403 I'm so hyped for AMS2, but let's wait how they adapt to the new engine first. Once I discovered AMS, it became my go to single player sim. Open wheel cars are AMAZING in AMS.
It's a great game... But I find some cars are undrivable with stock setup... For example I just started a Porsche career .. and on the 2nd last corner on the first track the car losses grip no matter what you do unless you pretty much crawl round it... But it's still the best SIM I've ever raced.
Without doubt, PC2 is the best sim racer for people just getting into sim racing. Most accessible and having access to all cars and all tracks from the start is a god-send for those getting used to sim physics.
I just got this game on steam for $10 (big sale). Really happy even though I'm on an xbox controller for my PC and with the AI level turned down I can even enjoy casual racing. If you have a wheel and gear stick on hand though then regular AI will be a gun challenge
I got Project Cars 2 Deluxe on Steam for $22.49, that's about what it's worth for what it is; although, it would be worth more if the bugs were worked out and some features improved.
Does that Oculus Link via Oculus Quest actually work well enough for Project Cars? I'm thinking of getting into VR, and I love the idea of no strings attached VR, untethered from my pc. And yet, I have a PC that is on the low end of VR compatibility but does pass the steam VR test. I have Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, Project Cars 1 & 2 and I'd love to experience those in VR. So whilst I'd love that, it's hard to decide whether to get Oculus Rift/Vive ect or go full Oculus Quest with the beta Link with no wastage if my PC doesn't work well with VR.
It’s a great game! I paid $13 for it and couldn’t be happier, I think a max of $25 is good for this game. It’s good, it feels good..it looks great, I enjoy it.
honestly i bought all dlcs right now on ps4 for 7€ because i dont know i have a bad feeling about PC3... Only that the director from driveclub is working on PC3 seems to me to be a bad omen. And thank god the game with the controller is really playable. When you have only a PS4 and wanna have a solid sim. PC2 is the best pick
Bought game Back end of last year. Just play Custom Races as dont bother wih career. Great game . Track selection is brilliant. Pros selection of cars and variety, handling on some cars. Cons Sounds are terrible, most so with Classic Ferraris. The 512M is awful. Performamce is great. I have a PS4 Pro and are able to run pitstop races at 1080p with 31 ai cars. Overall good game but very frustrating with handling and sounds.
It is frustrating with handling until you get the hang of it, I was always frustrated with it until sometime ot clicked for me and now most of the cars feel great, especially the 720s which is my most driven car in the game. The most annoying thing in the game for me though is the sticky curbs and I wonder why it seems like nobody talks about it because you basically cannot touch 90% of the curbs in the game lest they pull you off the track.
@@jamesshives5679 I've got the same with the curbs. Bit annoying. Depends on car aswell. Shame the game has stopped being updated now as all GT3 cars now out of date etc
will maz Yeah, overall I love the game but I definitely do wish some things were better such as the 911 rsr gte sound (it's honestly atrocious, which is such a shame because the real thing is a modern legend and has one of the best sounds ever imo) and I would have liked to see some new cars added that have come out recently, such as the mclaren senna or gt2rs or 488 pista. The curbs are the most consistent annoyance to me. They are already making the next project cars... I wish they would have just kept updating project cars 2 for a while rather than moving on to a next one so soon, but I suppose they are preparing for the next gen consoles.
They really messed up the penalty system. Sometimes you just need to touch a curb or slightly scratch your paint on a wall and your lap won't count. Even if you won't benefit from getting of the track in the last sector, your next lap won't count. Also the AI is really dumb. They just stick to their line and crash into you, like you don't even exist. Physics for them are different, too, so they have an advantage on several tracks. For instance you take the Lotus 98T on an ice track and you can barely move but the AI will drive like they are on tarmac
I love it, I have them all except iRacing, my favorites are RRE and PC2 with Hugo or Christian mod. It depends on cars, you have to try them all to find the good ones, but once done it is awesome
Project Cars 2 is a pure simulation game please do not buy if you want to have fun driving just jumping into the seat (I made that mistake coming from Gran Turismo on PS2) without knowing how a car reacts to real life driving. If you do not understand oversteer, understeer this game is really not for you. Playing this game I really understand how real drivers can overshot a corner under braking. Still having fun getting the hang of the game, steering wheel and pedals. PS. I took one look at PC3 and knew immediately was not getting it.
So, what are you thought about Project Cars 2 and what could be improved if Pcars3 follows the same format?
not worth the price due to the FFB and physics.. not that great IMO
still pretty good
No major bugs (on Xbox One S it freezes for ~2 sec several times a lap. On PS4 Pro randomely beaks @ 100% for 1-2 sec many times per lap)
There are not so many better games in this category right now. I think only GT Sport is better with graphics and community, little worse with content and physics. And ACC is better with graphics and physics, but less with content and gameplay. Anyway official license is always something special.
In pCars 3 I'd like to see more official contents, especially FIA WEC, ELMS, IMSA, ALMS and some GT3, GT4 and TCR series.
A point worth noting with PC2 is that VR implementation is fantastic. Easily the best looking game in VR.
Also really easy to get it going in VR compared to some games. Triple Screen is also a snap. Performance in Triple screen is also really good. Just stick it on your Steam Wish List, and filter it so it only shows specials if you can't justify throwing the full quid at it. I still would though. (Sorry Vic, I'm sure you own, and are happy with it - that last part isn't aimed at you)
Mark Smith. Yes, PC only I’m afraid. The PS4 doesn’t have the power to run the game in VR.
You can share setups on almost every sim
LFS did this ages before PC or iRacing

Oh like race in U100 raves and beat people buy 5 secs a lap lol put every one on same set up and see how good your are
@@kierenboimufc5940 Racing doesn't work like that though.

For full price, i wouldn't buy it. It's often on sale though and at a low price it is worth purchasing.
I got it on PC in a humble bundle with a few other great games
I got it for £15 on PlayStation store! Love the game, it feels more natural than assetto Corsa. Assetto Corsa is WAY too understeery.
Got it on steam during the summer sale i think it was 70-80% off i can’t really remember it was a fantastic deal and i don’t regret it one bit
I got the deluxe edition for 15$
Yall acually paID
I got it for free with an xbox live gold membership
Bought the deluxe version via steam summer sale, loved it as my first taste of simracing. Even though I have to drive with a keyboard. I had to wait for my t300rs to arrive, and after that I even loved pcars2 more.
What makes Project Cars 2 stood out is probably its game design, especially the career mode. Combine that with solid graphics, and decent force feedback, it's a better game among other available simracing titles for me.
2 years later i still daily play. The best for me with raceroom. Best looking on triple screens, best content. I only want the same with better sound and ffb.
I have ;)
You could’ve done this video literally a year ago and the results would still be the same, as it’s had *zero* updates since the first year ended.
i still play the game every week
I never had any beef with the FFB in Project Cars 2, and once saw a real-world race driver playing it on an expensive rig with VR. Whilst praising VR as a great tool for teaching new track drivers, he also went out of his way to praise the quality of the FFB. I guess the real world just isn't as realistic as that enjoyed by so many sim-racers these days.
May I ask who that was?
Sorry but pc2 it’s not a sim
@@reyvr6 really, you felt the need to come all the way here to comment on a 5 month post with that single line...
That is some dedicated vitriol right there. Oh, sorry but you are wrong.
Really good game, especially if you are new to sim racing. Community events, leaderboards, good leagues (aor, otl...) and great car/track selection create interesting, fun and (quite often) really competitive and fast community.
And keys are quite cheap nowdays...
I still think that physics and feel for the car are more believe in AC, but I've spent much more time racing around in pcars.
A friend of mine who plays this very game recommended it to me and man it was the best investment I’ve ever made :).
I bought it on sale one month ago, 20 Euro for the complete edition and I'm having a blast. I wouldn't buy it for full price but on sale go for it.

Still love it though.
got it for £15 deluxe when i got my rig, first time i played it a few week ago, it's alright tbh
I still love and use this game more than Forza 7. Also it’s a great game to introduce people into sim racing.
They should open it up for modding, it's kept AC popular despite its age
80% of Project Cars 2 players are on the console so that is a bit pointless tbh.

For me the Zakspeed Capri makes it worth it, they nailed it with that Car I think I still have the Oulton Park record.
Yes, it is. I still play it every week.
I have assetto corsa, gt sport and this game. I just bought this game. It was on sale. I barely even touch the other two now. This has such a variety and the detail into the cars and how they drive is unreal. Not to mention it actually has a career mode you can move up in. With a wheel and pedals this game is awesome
It is cheaper with every sale, so I would recommend it for a cheaper price for the wide variety of content it offers.

Still the best around, racing in wet weather is awesome, the graphics of swirling rain are unbelievable
(the smaller UK tracks are great btw)
But i really hate the way we have to search for a online race... That sucks big time!
Found a great race to join? Waiting...waiting...waiting
...to find out it has already started or it has become full.
And then you have to log out and start all over again to find a decent online race.
But that said, PC2 is still the best buck for the money. I love it!
I wanted to have the 22,8 kilometers Nordschleife
Solid game but I still think Asseto Corsa offers better value with all the mods and I think the physics are better.
Yeah, AC is better, but if you get the deluxe edition on sale for around $20, it's definitely worth picking up IMO.
i don't like asettos base car list. half the cars u have to buy
Pcars2 if your console AC on pc
The real problem is how quickly the online player numbers died out. SMS share some responsibility for that by killing support for it way too soon.
Bought deluxe edition for 13.49€ today on Steam Summer sale. At that price it's a no brainer...
The Authentic Steve you like realism but you dont like realistic weather?
What the problem when pitting the car? Can't say I've noticed any issues with that.
I have ac and pc2 on ps4 and pc2 is the game I keep coming back to . Assetto on ps4 looks dreadful and playing on a controller pc2 is far better
Short answer. Just buy PC1 (GOTY Edition) and PC2 (Deluxe Edition)
Both are EXCELLENT!
I'd say it's okay to grab it. If you don't want to buy the DLC, then try find the "Edition" one, like Day-One or Deluxe. Mind you with the bugs and glitches that prevent you for completing some Affinity Events and Invitation Events.
Just paid 11 £ for the deluxe. On steam right now.
Xbox Gold game free at the moment!
I bought PC1 years ago, was so glad I saw it for free on Xbox
I see some bias here. Weren’t you sponsored by pCars owners?
The rallycross is incredible. That’s the only reason I ever run PC2
I just really wish Subaru and Mitsubishi were in the mix.
At least a nice subie Rx
Totally agree, that was the reason I bought it in the first place.
TC1/TC is also very good.
What platform are u on?

Just picked this game up yesterday for $8 on xbox. Really excited to start playing it.
Two years later and bugs that were present in PCars1 still haven't been fixed in either game.
Like?
Still play it for PC and mostly GT3 class online. Great experience with Fanatec gear
The force feedback is the deal breaker for me.
It feels like driving on ice and the feedback set up is far too complicated 😕
tweak a little and you have a good setup in an hour
The problem is knowing what and how to tweak.
There are a myriad of options which just add up to a confusing mess.........
I want a simple "Thrustmaster T300" button to press and for it to just work.
Maybe I'm being unrealistic but it's like that in other driving sims so why not PCars 2??
@@ivanfojan8859 maybe you should drive with a controller then. what sim just has u press a button??
@@CallforthePriest assetto corsa has simple options that you dont need to mess with
In this day and age of unfinished and bug infested game resleases are a common thing for game publishers(y'all know the greed by now)so waiting for a game to mature if it ever does that,so waiting 2 years is the ideal timing for buying games, you get a great discount, and if your lucky the game got some major updates since release.
Nice review man, really liking your recent content 👊🏻
I really enjoyed pc2. I just wished it would've had an offline custom championship (outside of career).
Exactly what I want too just like in the F1 Games. Best game mode by far. Assetto Corsa has it but that game is appalling on the console so I uninstalled it after 2 days. Thankfully I only paid £10 for it.
I hit like before I even watched the video. Thanks for revisiting this game.
PC2 + AC FFB / tire model / physics / modding = best sim ever.
PC2 + AMS FFB & AI / rF2's tire model & physics / AC's modding community. Even better.
Open wheel cars are AMAZING in AMS.
its a blast ;-)
I like AC and Raceroom but PC2 is really really good...
nice one, subscribed..keep'em comin

What the................
*GOD HELP ME*
It's a great game...
Probably the most complete package out there. A bit more polish car wise, and it would be epic. Stiill better than AC IMO though.
I got Project Cars 2 Deluxe on Steam for $22.49, that's about what it's worth for what it is; although, it would be worth more if the bugs were worked out and some features improved.
Just bought this for 9.99 on the PS store!

Its now 18 euro
Now after the trailer for Project Cars 3 is out , who tought PC2 will be the peak of the series ...
honestly i bought all dlcs right now on ps4 for 7€ because i dont know i have a bad feeling about PC3...
Cons
Sounds are terrible, most so with Classic Ferraris.
I just wish they would sort out formula c.....the tyres are a nightmare when track temp is below 30 degrees
Yes i played gran turismo before getting pc2
