She's really good! Nice to see that her position on the cheer team isn't out of pity. She should be so proud of herself and the team she is cheering for should be so grateful that they have someone with special needs egging them on. GO GIRL!!
Tbh I wouldn’t be so sure. This university is 5 minutes down the road from my house and the requirements to make the team are very high because it’s such a big school. I’m a cheerleader and I’ve been to many a GMU games, and all the cheerleaders there have at least level 4 tumbling and stunting ability. I’m not saying she doesn’t, but they showed only a prep (level 1) and extension (level 2) in this video with her in it. Typically at GMU you’d be seeing full ups (level 4, like the other flyer in the video) or even more difficult skills. Knowing GMU, it wouldn’t shock me to know that they just want to avoid a scandal. Even with my 7 years experience as a cheerleader I still am not good enough to make that team because I don’t have a standing back tuck.
Very nicely put and spot on. Could not believe the hateful spewing of "I don't fit in" in the comment section. Had to set her straight. I was erroneously diagnosed bipolar at nineteen drugged and the drugs disabled my brain and caused the diagnosis to appear accurate. My mother force fed me the pills insisting doctors never make mistakes. So lots of idiotic TRUE morons have treated me the same way they treat those they label "retards." People with Downs are actually more EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT than the average. Keep on spreading the love!

bamfbabybamf I’m not sure. This school is 5 mins from my house and the standards to make the team are very high. Everyone has at least level 4 tumbling and stunts and I’m not saying she doesn’t I’m just saying she was only doing level 1 and 2 stunts in this video. It doesn’t help that the sister said her mom basically threw a fit about her being on the team. Knowing GMU, I wouldn’t be surprised if they took her to avoid a “discrimination” scandal. I’m all about inclusion, but I don’t believe in lowering the standards for anyone for any reason.
@@jillianm8958 I think it's awesome that she was given the opportunity to do something like this, even if she isn't able to do what everyone else is doing.
Chloe I think she, like everyone, should be given the opportunity to try out for the team if they want to. But I don’t think that the standards should be lowered for people. If she meets the same standards as the others on the team good for her! But I don’t believe in special treatment. If one person gets it then all people should. Also, if she is not up to the same level as the other cheerleaders, it brings them down. They have to take 3 bases to put under her to do skills less than what they are capable of. As a cheerleader, I know that stunting with a person who is far below your skill level is extremely frustrating because the stunt group is limited to the skills of the lowest skilled person. That gets really boring when you can not push yourself or ever try more difficult stunts because of one person. I think it’s great for HER, but it’s not great for the TEAM. And since cheer is a team sport, what’s best for the team trumps what’s best for the individual. That’s why there’s a try out, to make sure all the people on the team will be with people of their own highest skill level which will ultimately advance the team in the sport. If there’s a team, they are only as strong as the weakest link and trying to work around limitations of a single team member is nightmarish for the coaches and the other athletes. It leaves everyone feeling exasperated, unchallenged and unsatisfied with the performance. Like I said, if she meets the standards then she absolutely deserves the spot. But if she doesn’t have the skills, giving her a spot means you are taking away a spot from a deserving person the skills - and that isn’t fair.

@@Chloe-jt4yb I do as someone with an intellectual disability. It shows that if the school didn't have their reputation at risk as far as inclusion goes, they would not consider her "good enough" for the cheer team and thus there was no real stigma "barrier" broken. Okay so I've seen a couple of comments saying 'She isn't good enough, she wouldn't have been on the team if she hadn't down syndrome' and I just want to say: it's awesome for her to get that opportunity because, guess what, she will have a tough time after high school and after college. She might not get her dream job because of down syndrome. She might depend on someone forever. It's not unfair for her to get a spot on the team, whether or not she "stole" it from someone else, who is "normal". And I don't think someone else "lost" a spot because of her. Let her enjoy it! 💖
What a darling sweet beauty. She is just perfect. I hope life brings her everything wonderful and good her entire life. She knows what shes doing in that group too. They are fortunate to have her cheer

"....and the hardest thing in her life isn't an extra chromosome it's the fact that able-bodied, able-minded people everyday believe that she's not capable of things, and she's extraordinary because she does it anyway" :') I love this so much- her sister, her family, her cheer family, the coach UHH the support is unbelievable. AnnCatherine is so inspirational, not (just) because she's "different" and "incapable" of doing such thing and proves everyone wrong, but because she's just out there. Sh'e knows that she has slightly different capabilites than others and overcomes them, but doesn't everyone? Sure she was born with them, but you're not going to just jump up out of your crib one day and start benching 100kg weights or speaking a foreign language fluently, are you? I hope she succeeds in college and wish her the best for all games and events she has yet to come
Hahaha are you crazy 😜 No one knows me here. To whom i will show off these things you are talking about... I have no one here who knows me. Beauty doesn't depends on the looks. @@Chloe-jt4yb I do as someone with an intellectual disability. It shows that if the school didn't have their reputation at risk as far as inclusion goes, they would not consider her "good enough" for the cheer team and thus there was no real stigma "barrier" broken. The discrimination still exists in the back of their minds as well as in many other schools
"do you remember all of your dances?"
"they're stuck in my head, periodt."
I'm dead.
The extra chromosome is the chromosome that makes her good at cheerleading.

She was the beautiful person. She was pretty and I like her like a person❤💙💜💚🌎🌏
I think it's so cool that she's doing something that she loves and that the other members are so accepting... ❤
Me :
WHY IS SHE SO FREAKING PRETTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Me 20 minutes later : Oh duh! She was born like dat
What a darling sweet beauty. She is just perfect. I hope life brings her everything wonderful and good her entire life. She knows what shes doing in that group too. They are fortunate to have her cheer
Omg she doesn't even look like she has a down syndrome. She's just so beautiful ;-; I'm not even kidding she's gorgeous- she's so inspiring, I'm just sitting here eating chips during period and I can't even get out of bed lmao
She is really beautiful. When she smiled she became more beautiful. She definitely has the greatest smile ever.
I jus thought of glee when I saw this. also this is beautiful
This is so inspirational and it makes me feel a lot better. My brother actually has Down syndrome as well and I’m so happy to see that she’s succeeding and thriving
Where can I go to see more of her actually cheering with her team? I want to watch her fly!
She's so pretty, I love how cute she looks in her Uniform cheering
she's adorable 🤧🤧
She's so adorable..I'm glad she's living her best life
She's so pretty, this makes me want to be a cheerleader
Riley Sullivan same even though i’m on the track team already lmao
She's such a smart, brave young woman! I hope she continues to follow her dreams!
I hope she succeeds in college and wish her the best for all games and events she has yet to come
I agree with you 100 percent
Her smile makes me want to cry, it’s so beautiful 🥺❤️
She's freakin' more beautiful than me! Bless her
AC has the spirit! Yes she does! I’m glad she has a supportive sister!
Yay for her! AND we go to the same college!!
Do you know her personally and if so is she as sweet as she seems? 😄
Taterbug Underwood She seems really sweet, I saw her at a game and she really put her all in cheering and kept a smile on her face
shes honestly pretty good! shes an inspiring person and i wish her the best of luck through the rest of her life!
You go girl ! ❤❤❤
This is literally so inspiring to me, I loved this. Tryouts are coming up and this makes me pumped.
Look how beautiful she is...
Nobody is showing sympathy... The only thing is that
she
is so beautifull
Why would I lie and what would i get after lying 🤥
Hahaha are you crazy 😜
No one knows me here. To whom i will show off these things you are talking about... I have no one here who knows me. Beauty doesn't depends on the looks. It depends on the way you look others. And i am proud of myself that whatever i am good /bad i have no regrets. And she should also think like that whatever she is its not her fault... So if i am asking her beautifull that means she is beautiful i don't want to prove that i am better or worse than anyone
Then you are the one who prefer beauty on looks not me.
@Emily Priminova get a life,my God.
Nothing should ever stop you from doing what every you want. Stick to your dreams no matter what others may say or think.
