Tow straps are dangerous but not as dangerous as steel cable or chains. Checkout Yankum Ropes. They are a kinetic rope and they are continuously testing and they rate them well below the minimum weight that they have broken in testing but even if you work them above the rating for that size rope and it breaks they basically just drop to the ground. No injuries and no damaged machinery. I see they now have a Canadian distributor. If you watch the bigger farm RUclips channel in the US plus the towing companies use them and will not use chain , cable, or strap. They also sell another strap that will connect the rope to what ever you’re pulling or pulling with. I may sound like a salesman but I’m not, just someone that has watched them in service in many applications and everyone that uses them are sold on them.
Something about a wet spot makes the brain start running calculations about the odds of making it through to the other side. The formula input usually ends to the conclusion to give it a shot… And… Dang! Stuck again!
6:28 You really should have Yankum. It’s safest and gives. They are absolutely life saving. I have had the strap break and take out windows of trucks and vans before. Yankum is never going to break. God be with you Brother Mike. Please quit skimping on some important things when you usually don’t and get the proper quality normally. It’s not about money it’s being ignorant or stubborn it’s about the safety for everyone around you. We won’t talk about the time I saw a logging cable destroy a man i saw happen. I’ll never skimp on equipment after seeing that when I was riding with my Uncle for the day in his Logging Truck in Washington State here. Safety isn’t an accident! 🙂↔️❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸
Mike; wouldn’t a HD clevis or rated crane shackle be a better alternative than hooking to the safety chain. That would allow strength from any angle. I’m a retired crane operator and crane shackles (looks like a clevis but has a threaded pin) are very strong.
There was a bow shackle in the car which seems to have been ignored. Much better to tow it from the towing eye rather than a safety chain which isn't designed to be a tow chain/anchor point. The clue is in the name.
New ground it takes awhile to learn where all the bad spots are. I had one field that had a gumbo spot right on top of a hill and would get you every time.
I’m in my first couple years farming and have ignored my gut instinct several times. Every. Single. Time. I have paid for it in the form of breakdown or other mischief. Sometimes it’s just too tempting
Can someone with more info explain why people have gone to such huge efforts to fence off land in the prairies? Coming from western europe id understand it, but we have hedges and fencing to keep wildlife out and livestock in. I can imagine durum wheat has those same problems? Love from the UK!
Mike, please for love of God don't ever pull anything with a chain. Clevis direct to the hitch is the only safe way, all other ways are death warrants. And always throw a coat or hoodie around the center of the strap, it will act as a sort of parachute and give a cage effect to the strap.
Mike,my only critique of your entire operation is your shoes! How can you farm without a nice sturdy pair of real leather shoes?! 😮Like Redwing or Carolina or something! 😅I’m serious!
Don’t recall the exact reason but I believe that there is a fuse link or something like that will burn out if the system is not shut down correctly first.
Hi, I'm just curious. My uncles have a Steiger with tracks. Do you think wheels or tracks are better in stuck situations. I don't hear of my uncles getting stuck often but they are not pulling big drills like you do they use theirs mainly for tillage ect
There are a ton of variables to consider. In some soil types tracks will just sit on top and spin while tires will “dig” to help pull through. In other situations tracks float over while duals or even lsw tires sink. I’ve always preferred tires over tracks because they’re cheaper to buy and maintain. That being said I had a neighbor ruin 3 new tires one spring on deer and elk antlers so in that situation tracks might have saved him money. There are just too many factors at play to determine which is best
With all the Stucks your family has a year, hasn't Yankum Ropes contacted you about a product sponsorship? Might be an interesting stuck pool update videos throughout the year to give Yankum some coverage for the eight or so ropes needed to cover your spread out farming activities.
Mike : "it's a category 2 stuck, easy!"
The safety chain: "Watch this"
You take over and mess up the whole operation 😂

Yes you are 100% correct. Surprised. It doesn’t have any. Walker farms use them
Glad you got it out without harming innocent harness wires..
Man that is a strap!
You guys use yankem straps don't you
Maybe you should let Ashton run the farm and you take care of your son full-time
Anytime Mike has a tow strap in the thumbnail, it's going to be great content.
Your still learning Mike ita all good! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dang! Stuck again!
Thanks for recording! You know, if you didn’t, No one would have known! 😁 Keep it out of the cat tails!👍
I'm sure someone would have mentioned this in the comments below, when we are off-roading we put a coat over the strap so as it folds up if it breaks.

Salut Mike magnifique vidéo et les terres sont difficiles et pas facile 😂😮😅😊

Your doing a good job buddy !!😊
The 'I can get in closer'. 60% of the time it works everytime- 'Ron Burgandy'!
By now Mike you will be winning with the stuck’s 🤣 beers al round then 👍👍
My staff said hi to me from you. Thank you I am back at work now . Work from 7 till 4. You were at DQ as I was watching you at home ❤
I was watching to see who rolled the strap. You saved your reputation. 😂
Great video Mike
Canora Weaving in Canora SK makes awesome tow straps

Just goes to show, she can't leave you to do anything on your own! 😂
Everyone's nightmare - 100 pounds of steel and fabric rapidly heading your direction while pulling.
I'm glad Ashton wasn't waiting for you.
Yep, been there. Once the drawbar kisses the soil it's toast time.
You should do the perimeters of them spots with a nearly empty seed cart. That thing full is a lot of dead weight
Thanks
Mike have a soda and 😂😂😂 lol it happens too the best of us
Oh the fun you can have with machinery 😂
Mike, it's time to get back on a 4 track
Hey Mike how many times during a average day in the field do you take your shoes off and on at the tractor cab door😅
Lost count 😆
I talked to you earlier Mike about your agtron. Would you do it again? Or go intelligent ag?
I’m in my first couple years farming and have ignored my gut instinct several times. Every. Single. Time. I have paid for it in the form of breakdown or other mischief. Sometimes it’s just too tempting
Been there! That's what happens
Out of curiosity, why not use the clevis that you had in the hitch instead of the safety chain???
Every time the boss man gets stuck everybody gets a raise
Morning
You need a good old saskatchewan yank!
Can someone with more info explain why people have gone to such huge efforts to fence off land in the prairies?
Coming from western europe id understand it, but we have hedges and fencing to keep wildlife out and livestock in. I can imagine durum wheat has those same problems?
Love from the UK!
I noticed there are a lot of wetlands in your area. Have you tried investing in the drainage system?
Put the Cart between tractor and tool bar and will get twice as far. did it 10 years ago. need 10 percent less HP , 10 percent less fuel.
Plus better traction with some drawbar weight. The car at the rear of the toolbar is just a dead weight as well.
Why has Mike no kinetic energy rope yet? Especially if you consider his previous experiences. They are much safer, no?
But what is the count for taking the shoes on and off for this stuck?
Mike, please for love of God don't ever pull anything with a chain. Clevis direct to the hitch is the only safe way, all other ways are death warrants. And always throw a coat or hoodie around the center of the strap, it will act as a sort of parachute and give a cage effect to the strap.
Absolutely absolutely

I'm curious why you powered down the monitors?
Don’t recall the exact reason but I believe that there is a fuse link or something like that will burn out if the system is not shut down correctly first.
Because he's disconnected the wiring harness at the drawbar hitch.
🤔Must loose/corrupt the screens memory.
Why would you hook to the safety chain in the first place.?? Isn't that what the hitch is for ?
I like how you take shoes off to keep carpet clean....but you don't wear gloves and get muddy hands all over control's....c,Mon Mike....😂

@clearskiesranch1362 that makes sense, my uncles farm in Minnesota so it maybe similar soil types not 100% sure . Thanks for the reply
Get rid of those tow straps and buy some Yankam tow ropes!!!
Buys large clevis seems cheaper than windows or hospital bills?????
Did i just hear a Swear word come out of Mikes mouth?
Another great video Mike keep up the awesome videos and work you do with your family and crew.
Okay so it wasnt juat me then? Lol
I don't think if you get out under your own power, it's an official "stuck"
I would agree with that statement but only if you don’t have to unhook your equipment or get out !
stuck on you
Elvis presley
Cheating on the roll up there boss....... He should have made you do the full roll.......😂😂😂😂😂😂
Would an have been easier to pull through if the reader had been folded up?
Facepalming with Mike Mitchell
Mike, do you need to see someone about that fear of death?
thx
normally an hour and a half escapade without the wait for Austin ??
Should have said "wiggle, wiggle" 4 times and it would jump out!
Dang
Almost made it
❤

Hey man, you can't just pull it backwards? Would be so much easier :P
Risk pushing mud into seeding tubes. That would cause a whole new level of pain. 😒
👍
I've done that too, went somewhere that i knew i shouldn't and it bit me! ha ha.
I think a quad trac wouldnt have gotton stuck
I knew better and it was okay this morning are the most overused excuses in world history. 😂😂😂
👋😊
