10-25-220 @tiki trash The lessons for the most part seem to be for us players who have a decent working knowledge and experience of how to play songs. So our Instructor does not usually give those type of "put your finger on the 7the fret" etc., explanations. There are several other YT music instructors who operate in a similar manner. It is expected that the "student" already is "up & running" with their guitar or bass playing. That recognized, some additional detailed explanations can be useful, e.g. with uncommon chords and complex parts.
PIcked up a guitar at 55 years old and 8 years later just love it. I have been inspired by Tricker James more than any other youtuber. Cool tones, cool guitars, cool songs, great lessons, cool shirts, talented player. Thanks for all these. Keep on rocking, I will, in part because of your body of work.
Everyone raves about the intro(quite rightly of course) but the rhythm guitar part is pretty outstanding in it’s own right imo, especially when it’s played correctly.Thank you for this.
It's pretty fun too play that part in standard tuning as well, there's video from the 90's of Keef with the Wino's playing it solo and he does it in standard.
Great Gretsch right here, thank you James, I’m a beginner guitar player, you’ve shown me to play all my favorite stones tunes, acoustically and electric
That harmonica...dang! As great as the guitar work is, and Merry Clayton’s show stopping vocals, it remains Mick’s harmonica that gives the song its apocalyptic snarl
JJ, its been years since I've stumbled upon the Privetricker channel. I've always been just a lurker, but i have to thank you now. Your Stones covers and lessons inspired me to advance my guitar playing further. Cannot thank you enough!
Those opening notes... they take me back to the era of Vietnam and nuclear fear, not knowing whether the assholes in the Pentagon were any stupider than the assholes in the Kremlin, thinking you have your whole life ahead of you and being convinced that it wouldn't be long...
My friend you nailed that, I learned so much from this video thank you. I’ve watched so many others come close, but left out so much detail that you played flawlessly. This song may seem easy, but unless someone shows it too me I’m baffled. Thanks again
James James correct. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London during multiple sessions in 1969. Keith plays ALL of the guitars. Jones was already gone and Taylor joined later that year. Mixed at Electra Hollywood where Merry Clayton did the great backup vocals!
Spencer, no, no. You're confusing The Rolling Stones with the CCR. In ANY Director's mind, war + Vietnam + helicopters = CCR, preferably "Fortunate Son" 😉.
Gimme Shelter Would have been Epic in Apocalypse Now. Satisfaction was Good though. Hendrix's version without lyrics of All along the Wall Tower too. Ride of Valkyries was symbolic because Valkyries are the angels of death in Warfare. A little too clever idea that didn't age well.
I wonder, which is your favorite version/tuning for this song and why? I think I've seen three now, all sound great to me, I kinda like playing it in standard so far, but this sounds perfect! I tend to practice on an acoustic and don't really like tuning it to open E though.
If you're scared of putting a lot of extra tension on your guitar, you could do the same tuning but a full step down. That's what I did, just put a capo on the 2nd fret and play everything a little higher :)
It's so nice to see a lesson where they don't spend an hour saying, "Now put your finger on the 7th fret and then..." Thank you.

I'm not blinking first
Tiki trash you're right about that
It takes almost 3 minutes to explain a d chord 🤣
We never have enough of James’s stones.
Well, one thing for sure.you know its gonna be great.
By far the greatest guitar resource on RUclips, in my opinion.
Seriously. I've learned more from James's channels than any other. If there's a song I'm curious about, I search his stuff first.
Brilliant!
100%
That and his old Private Tricker channel.
Fully agree! The first place I go to online to to learn a tune.
Супер! Яка чудова гра! Дуже люблю таку музику!
I have been listening to the Rolling Stones for 58 years , thank u James James for setting it right about Kieth after all these decades
.
I always get chills when Merry's voice breaks on that third round. So funny to hear the guy's reaction bleed through.
eggy68 Best part of the song!
Merry
@@AC-gw4qu My bad - fixed!
Yeah, Mick goes Wooo !
Actually Merry Clayton was pregnant while singing this and gave herself a miscarriage while hitting that note!!!! So Rock & Roll!!!!!
Arguably one of the greatest rock songs of all time. I start everyday with this one in my playlist

Nice. Love these old Stones songs.
What a star you are PT. Excellent!
ApricotHurlforth He certainly is. Love it when he does Stones songs. It’s almost like getting a lesson from old Keef himself! Keep rocking JJ
I bumped into this video...Privettricker I would know you anywhere- you taught me so much.

Fantastic! One of my top 10 all time songs... Thanks, James!... :-)
Love it when it sounds right! Really enjoying your videos--they make me want to play again.
All these Stones songs I used to try to play in Standard. DOH! Thanks for the heads-up on the tuning.
Thank you so much, James, for coming back with your videos, I've been missing it.
Been waiting for a proper gimme shelter lesson for 10 years now! Thank you sir 🙏
That harmonica...dang! As great as the guitar work is, and Merry Clayton’s show stopping vocals, it remains Mick’s harmonica that gives the song its apocalyptic snarl
James, your renditions rock! Keep up the good work
Fantastic, as always!!
Great lesson JJ. Always a pleasure to see a posting from you. Lately you have been hitting them out the park! Thanks brother ✌🏻

Great tone. You rocked it.
You play it very well!
Very nice! I've got to get this into my repertoire, thank you.
I have a lot of things to be thankful for.
You ARE one of them.
I’d love to live next door.
Health and happiness to my brother I’ve never met.

Brilliant James 🎸🎶😛🌟
Love the sweat shirt, Niagara, and love the playing.
You are really good, friend. I like your tutorials. Thank you and Congratulations!!✌🏻🤘🏻
The best song I’ve seen performed live! Minneapolis 2015
Those opening notes... they take me back to the era of Vietnam and nuclear fear, not knowing whether the assholes in the Pentagon were any stupider than the assholes in the Kremlin, thinking you have your whole life ahead of you and being convinced that it wouldn't be long...
Beautiful, as usual!
You're on a roll!
Man your giving The Stones what for just now👍👍👍
Great lesson James thanks!
Excellent lesson, james!!!
Thank you!!!
Always a good job!
Love the tone of your Gretsch!

4 years late but I got it. Thanks JJ
Good to see you back
My friend you nailed that, I learned so much from this video thank you. I’ve watched so many others come close, but left out so much detail that you played flawlessly. This song may seem easy, but unless someone shows it too me I’m baffled. Thanks again
JUST WOAW !!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Great song, great playing and beautiful guitar!!
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great cover, you’re a gifted player.
And that’s one nice Gretsch guitar you have there, it sounds great.
this is my fav stones song 😌
This was Awsome! I heard the stones recorded this in Muscle shoals. And the studio band the swampers came up with that Awsome rhythm riff. Killer jam👍
The Muscle Shoals sessions were after this was recorded. I think the MS songs were Brown Sugar, You Gotta Move, and Wild Horses.
James James correct. It was recorded at Olympic Studios in London during multiple sessions in 1969. Keith plays ALL of the guitars. Jones was already gone and Taylor joined later that year. Mixed at Electra Hollywood where Merry Clayton did the great backup vocals!
My fav Stones tune.
fantastic playing
Fantastic
The Epic adventures of BLACK FALCON!!!!
Not the biggest Stones fan in the world. But that kicks ass. Thanks man
Co-sign
Great play along...love it...I think you did a full lesson on your old channel that I learned from.
Great stuff 👍
Best song ever!
That guitar is gorgeous
Wow!....percise ..sounds beautimus😄
Nailed it!
Eres el mayor G E N I O de la guitarra que haya existido jamás!...J.J. the number one!
When ever I hear this song I always get visions of the helicopters in Vietnam back in the war
Spencer, no, no. You're confusing The Rolling Stones with the CCR.
In ANY Director's mind, war + Vietnam + helicopters = CCR, preferably "Fortunate Son" 😉.
Wasn't it used in the documentary Letters From Vietnam?
Gimme Shelter Would have been Epic in Apocalypse Now. Satisfaction was Good though. Hendrix's version without lyrics of All along the Wall Tower too. Ride of Valkyries was symbolic because Valkyries are the angels of death in Warfare. A little too clever idea that didn't age well.
I always think of the police helicopter passing over a paranoid Ray Liotta’s character’s house in Goodfellas 🚁
@@ajs808 What a class act !!
Keith Richards is a bona fide genius.
Great cover brother!
I love that guitar
Wow. So together.

In Open G this song almost plays itself, and I throw a slide on it, just for grins.
THANK YOU JAMES
That Gretsch is gorgeous
Nice job JJ Godbless
