I am just agog. I love this Charleston home so much! We travel to Charleston from NC once a year on a southern journey vacation, a respit for us. This home was everything I love about open plan living, it gives me lots of ideas. At 62 I really appreciate finding quirky artistic homey in a grand setting. I subscribed!

Stephanie Murray thanks Stephanie - it was really interesting to design this space - the new part of the house was actually a parking lot ..... we got to add that space onto the 179o home to create that open space - it was a dream to work on this with Ray and our architect Peter Block. We use every single inch of this house! Thanks

A valuable takeaway from this video is that you should never persevere with a designer or decorator who is just not 'getting' your vision or able to delight and excel your expectations and consequently frustrating you and making you feel down about it all. Just part ways with civility and keep searching for someone truly marvellous and reading from the same sheet as you. It's your home after all. No time to be 'too nice' and someone who 'doesn't like conflict'. Thanks Ms Sharp Weeks for the charge I needed.

Wow!! Jill is my kindred spirit!!! I love all the natural elements in her house! When I was graduating from high school I wanted to be an archeologist and collect all kinds of wonderful things! I was even accepted to The University of Michigan to study archeology, but ended up not going. Two kids later “college”, and I am back in school to become an Interior Designer! This is how I like to design! My home is a collection of everything I find, shells, pottery,....I love your home Jill! Great eye!!!

Just incredible style. Need to watch it several times to absorb it all. Love how unique it all is. I am curious on the square footage of the home as it seemed every inch was so well used. What impresses me most is how Jill thinks everything through to the tiniest detail. Love, love, love this video.

colleen martin Colleen - thank you - you made the guest comment and it set-off such a firestorm of great conversation! The original 1790 home was about 2ooosq feet. The new part of the house (which was a parking lot that we turned into house) added an additional 3ooo feet, including a HUGE basement - we are really grateful to have had the opportunity to build new space in the oldest part of the city. And from the street front it does not read like it’s large - major kudos to my friend and design accomplice Peter Block! Thanks!

This lady is the epitome of unique, original style, as is this amazingly designed, fabulous home. It's like this gorgeous fusion of modern industrial, rustic luxe and loft-artsy bohemian. I love how thoughtfully placed all her pieces and artwork are, and how everywhere you look is an art installation and picture out of vogue, even the kitchen. Looked like a fun party and trip to Charleston!

My jaw continually became un-hinged as you walked through her home. It's sophisticated yet also has an earthy tribal feel to it.
