Your tank (ballooning) is not venting and forcing fuel into the engine, crank case. Check your oil level and smell it. If it smells like fuel change the oil. Always disconnect the fuel line when not in use.. Nice Whaler and motor set up! You can free up deck space and room in the boat by raising the rear bench and installing the tank/battery underneath. Here's my project I completed not long ago. I did a series.ruclips.net/video/UoabHKc370o/видео.html

Thanks for the comment. I wonder if my tank cap is faulty? I always have it vented when out on the water, but you are correct in observing it balloons. I did not smell any fuel in the oil when I changed it this past fall. I always disconnect the tank when the boat is out of the water (it lives in my garage) or overnight if left in the water for day or two.

@@ckopchick4 I have a 14 gallon tank (Moeller) in my 15’. It doesn’t swell and appears to vent properly but I still disconnect it. Something is definitely wrong with your tank/cap it shouldn’t be swelling up like a balloon.

May I suggest loosing the fuel filler cap slowly and see if the pressure goes away. If it does, the vent in the cap is faulty.

May I suggest loosening the fuel cap SLOWLY and see if the pressure releases. If it does, it's a faulty fuel cap. This is me assuming the vent is opened fully. Hope maybe this helps. Happy Boating !

How did you decide on the height? I see that there is a gap at the top of the mount. Have a similar 13 Whaler (1975) and I'm looking at a Suzuki 30.

Oh man, lots of measuring. Ultimately, I ran a straight edge off the bottom of the transom to the cavitation plate and went with it. Seems to run great at the current height.

I mounted the same motor on a nearly identical boat. Seeing your application helped immensely.

    I’m debating between the 25 & 30. I’m currently running a old 35hp Mercury 2 stroke.
What do you think the speed difference would be between the 25 & 30 on a 15ft?

On a 15 ft, go with as much power as you can afford.

How do you like that canopy? I am restoring my 13 foot Boston Whaler over here in MN and on top of already ordering that same 2023 outboard, I need to order a canopy as well.

It's been great. I bought the bimini online in 2018 from National Boat Covers. It's 46" tall, which seems perfect for the 13 foot Whaler.

@@hsam3584 i use stabil marine 360 in my fuel, and i change my engine oil and gear oil right before storing it. I put 100+ hours on mine yearly which works out perfect for the oil. I cover it with a sleeping bag in winter to help prevent freezing water inside and cracking something.

Hello, great video. I just wanted to make a suggestion. I'm a retired GM and then Honda Master tech. I would wait until spring to change oil and lower unit oils. They tend to accumulate MORE moisture as they sit. Alot of times most oil manufacturers will give a suggested mileage OR time interval. The interval is due to moisture accumulation. Hope this helps. I'm purchasing the same motor in white and tiller on Monday. Happy Boating.
