Feel like Korey and crew would have liked it more if they watched it how the book ended. More ambiguous but m knight assumed audiences wouldn’t like that. He assumes people are not as introspective as book readers and would be pissed at 1 hour 30 with a you interpret it ending. Lol

People watching movies kinda want that cathartic answer, since they dont or expectation is that many dont see as many movies as korey etc and for free. They want that payoff. Korey sees so many he's ok with something he has to think about or something experimental. out of the 3 big wrestlers turned actors, Bautista has the best acting career clearly. Can he lead a mega blockbuster on his own on the marquee, probably not, but, that is not what he is focused on. Spectre, Dune, Glass Onion, Blade Runner, Army of the Dead, My Spy, Knock at the Cabin, Bushwick, its a complete variety of roles and he has worked with some of the more interesting directors. Rock did start out this way before he focused more on his brand.

Just saw it and I give it 7.5/10 apocalypses. Bautista has clearly been working on the craft and is easily the best athlete to transition over to movies at this point. The girl who played the daughter was excellent, Ron Weasley was good, the Detective from Luther season 3 was good, and the line cook was solid. I was not a fan of the actor playing the dad with dark hair, he was like a lesser Eric Bana. I didn’t like how predictable it was, I accurately called about 90% of what was going to happen based on the trailer. Watching it play out was still entertaining enough that I didn’t feel like I wasted my money seeing it in theaters. The opening scene made me super uncomfortable when it was just Bautista talking to the kid, it was bad enough that a giant random dude popped up but then he’s being hella friendly and warm, but eventually when you learn his vocation it makes sense. This is definitely the best movie Shamylan has made in a while.

In times of crisis the news puts up a warning and shows violence on screen. It’s news not baby channel gossip. Live stream of traffic stops. Does Korey think the people who stop them just say before I do anything please post that. It’s streamed and someone else watching saves and post or sells it to news. The tension is loosened by the news but without it people would complain that it’s 1 hour of arguing for no leeway. Dang if you do or don’t. Not saying the movie is good just wish Martian had more to say in spoilers since I think he has some hard criticisms. Dave Bautista really impressed me with his role in Bladerunner 2049, and he keeps delivering. I'm pretty ambivalent about Drax as a character, but I'm generally excited to see anything that he's in.

I also really enjoyed Abby Quinn's performance as Adrienne. I don't think I've seen her before, but I connected with her character for some reason.

While I think the book ending would’ve packed more of a gut punch I overall like the bulk of this movie - gave me a longer short film vibe in terms of directness and structure

Low matinee is a good rating. The news reports and the ending news wrap up were really annoying. ALTHOUGH. the CGI of that wave was really cool

This movie was pretty good. Maybe a little derivative of Cabin in the Woods. Also, a lot of it didn't make sense- if the disasters could only be triggered by the sacrifices, then don't do the sacrifices. Or, if the disasters were going to happen anyway, then don't do the sacrifices. Also, another Hollywood production normalizing the woke agenda with same sex relationships. But overall it was enjoyable, if not exactly memorable.
