I think they dropped the ball on the concept the movie opened up on.
This is what gets me though; Ghostface this time around was menacing, fast, much stronger and even seemed like he was trained. With the combat boots I was like “damn, are we getting our first Ghostface who’s actually a trained killer?” And then the reveal happens and none of it makes sense.
I feel that Wes Craven's years as a college professor before getting into film and I think having teenagers while filming Scream 1 and 2 gave them an authenticity that even the best Scream sequels have lacked since.
But scream 3 was terrible and he directed that movie

Kill the mom that abandons you... but torture the sister who doesn't even know about you and might have embraced you. He was elaborate and clever, but motive really made me roll my eyes.
@@jamalwalker the Scream 3 Wes and Kevin wanted to tell before Columbine was way darker and more full circle with a character they were going to bring back so Craven and Williamson's ORIGINAL Scream 3 at least seems solid.

Daddy Richie he joined the force in an effort to create a new mystery around Sam Carpenter and ultimately kill her himself with the help of his two kids who are also Ghostfaces. And they were just cool throwing their lives away to get revenge slasher movie style. Sure. Why not. I’d like to hear how all of this decision making went down. How did they plan this? The entire family was just casually insane? Their planning was so elaborate that they got Richie Sr. into the NYPD and assigned to Sam’s case. Isn’t that a conflict of interest? Was there any background check on Daddy Richie? Did no one recognize that he’d been assigned to the case of the girl who killed his son? I mean, the average NYPD officer has the IQ of a ham sandwich but even this is egregious. Also, did Daddy Richie actually say that he just swapped out his daughter playing dead with an actual dead body? And nobody noticed? Huh? Where did he procure another cadaver? No one in the morgue realized that this other cadaver didn’t fit the ID of the supposedly slain college girl? I’m at a loss folks. Scream never entirely demanded that you turn your brain off before. I mean this is fucking dumb. How did they organize that subway assault? Was one Ghostface just conveniently riding in the same car as Mindy and the undercover Ghostface? How were they communicating? No head sets. No texting either, as we establish that no one gets any service on the train. I have to stop myself here because the logic of the film is a clusterfuck
As a fan, I got everything I wanted from this. I wanted Core Four to be a thing as much as the character did haha They could be the Buffy, Willow, Xander & Giles of Scream
Just came out of the theatre a few hours ago. I enjoyed this movie very much, especially with the new location
I just love them so much. Surprised bc some of the characters in Scream 5 were so bland, but they were 1000x better here

I'm sorry but in no way is Scream 4 the one that came close to the original. The fan favorite sequel is Scream 2. It's always ranked as the best sequel by the majority of fans.

because they reference the stab sequels, specifically pt 2 combined with the killer blaming Sam specifically, it confirmed that it was probably a parent of the previous killers.
This is gonna be #2 favorite on a lot of fans' Scream rankings. Giant step up from Scream 5. Guess that creative team just needed to warm up a little
What’s crazy is I enjoyed this more than all the Screams. The creative team did a phenomenal job.
It’s so interesting to me because I really enjoyed Scream 5 a lot when it came out and I did think it was similar to 4 (which I like slightly more than 5) but I understood why it was like that and think it succeeded. YET once I saw this and saw how exciting these movies could be again I just cant even look at the last one the same because this one was just so thrilling and so fun. It’s definitely #3 for me ranking-wise

For me Scream 5 was terrible in terms of logic and plot. Good part was Dewey felt like the main character of that movie. Scream 6 was definitely a step up in quality and with a few flaws. If I had to pick one issue with these new movies, is that killers are way too obvious. 5 was way easy, and 6 kinda told you straight up when Richie dad reacted to his daughter's "death". Otherwise it's a good movie.
The fake out kills ruined this movie the plot armor was ridiculous.I have no desire to watch Scream 7 now bcuz they really gotta go way out to kill someone now bcuz a simple stab doesn't mean anything now

I felt like this was truly Sam's journey. I adored her character so much in this and fell so bad that she was blamed for the murders. She definitely carried most of the movie and I loved Tara of course but she took like the back seat over more like a sidekick. This was definitely Sam Carpenter's movie

It's clear the makers of this film actually paid attention to large review channels like this one and others to see what people REALLY are tired of in the horror genre. This movie was excellent!!

@@dariuschisholm7317 Best part of the movie is the bf in the other building has a giant arse ladder in his tiny NYC apartment. I laughed so hard at that. People say that scene was super intense but i just couldn't stop laughing at the giant arse ladder. Funniest movie moment i've had in years.
Roger Jackson does a great job of voicing Ghostface and Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls

I really like d the moment where the main character Sam talks about how difficult it is to be hated, cause everyone was criticizing her after the last one and giving all their love to Ortega. No one is criticizing her after this one so it clearly worked.
Ortega is very overrated she does a good job but gets too much credit

They are following the blueprint from the 1st trilogy. 1. Billy and Stu. 5. Ritchie and Amber. 2 Billy Loomis's mama and Mickey. 6 Ritchie's dad, brother, and sister. 3. Sidney's brother. 7. Could be Stu. They gotta go back in the past for the ending part of the trilogy. I cant wait!!

Saw last night. I really appreciate the social media, woman hate/dehumanizing, killer worship, law enforcement, and mob apathy commentary here. Again current examination that's still ahead.
It was fun, but I was frustrated for Sam. I'd start losing it too if I experienced that crap. Murder of character can be nearly as brutal as physical, because you live with it but it ruins your life and opportunity. People shit for that.
This is like nightmare bizzaro Scream 4 where the killer gets the sympathy and fame, painting the survivor as snapping.

They tried to help in the Store. On the Subway there were so many people, that with the light flickering on and off it isn't like people were aware what was going on, on that train. The bigger question is why didn't she just move to a different location when she saw GF coming towards her. Instead she just stood there against the door.
She was at the back end of the train so she couldn't really go anywhere

The 1st 2 acts are the best in the series. Then it goes off the rails at the end a bit. Still one of the better sequels.
Scream VI: Ghostface Takes Manhattan
I don’t understand how this series is still going. It’s not scary or even plausible. If Ghostface was a supernatural being/title, I could role with this. If Ghostface was a person/people who’d undergone “Bruce Wayne” levels of conditioning, to commit murder, I’d be with this. But, it’s always a stupid, dipstick kid, with issues, a cheap costume and a knife. How this idiot doesn’t always end up dead, in the first act, is beyond me. Real talk, I’d be more afraid of Madea.
Just my unpopular opinion. One of the most OVERRATED franchise in movies. They could have stopped after three and I would have been fine with that. And some of the twist are straight up Doo Doo

It’s why the reveals don’t tend to make sense.
Ghost face would show pretty decent strength and durability and in the last bunch of movies the reveal is a slender, nerdy guy that never lifted a weight and a 5 foot, 120lb girl.
Fun and interesting reviews as always guys. I absolutely loved Scream VI and thought it was super fun. Probably my 2nd favorite Scream movie. I ended up really liking the core 4.
One of the very few franchises that still go on today. Not many movies do that, most stop after the 4th installment. But if they're able to continue in the long run then why not🤷🏽♂️

This movie was so bad. Scream 6 is like after you dumped your significant other and they just won't stop trying to get back with you. They'll do just about anything, because they are so desperate. That is Scream 6.
I think the only bad thing was the ending. Too predictable and they should’ve really gone for it.

Why are they turning Ghostface into a Marvel supervillain? He didn’t have super powers, yet on several occasions he’s above to move as fast as Quicksilver and out run clearly aimed gun shots. Bull crap!

I’m not a huge horror movie fan. However, my love for Let Me In, It, It: Chapter Two, Stranger Things, Locke and Key, Chucky, and Wednesday make me want to support this movie for Jenna Ortega.

Speaking as a general fan of the Scream films. I have not met a single Scream fan who thinks 4 is the best, or even second best film in the franchise!
I thought Scream V was fun enough to want a sequel, so since this takes place in NYC I'm excited. I always enjoyed Jason Takes Manhattan even though it's one of the worst reviewed Friday the 13th movies. Seeing the image of Ghostface on the subway with someone wearing a Jason hockey mask in the background made me want to see it even more. Tonight though I might check out some 1986 movie that is playing at a theater near me called 'Night of the Creeps' with Tom Atkins "Thrill Me!"

Another worthy continuation of the series
They take advantage of the NYC setting, cool suspenseful scenes whether it's a subway train or crossing a ladder between buildings in a city of billions
The kills are way more extreme and I'm liking this new cast mainly Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega and Jasmin Savoy Brown
So happy Courtney Cox still has the edge as Gale Weathers
The filmmakers go more meta with the humor basically laughing at the tropes that made the series what it is
The reveal is definitely higher than previous installments and there's dozens of cool callbacks to the older movies
Part 5 was pretty much all the classic hits with this one it's more of the punk b-rock side of things
Anxious for part 7 how they can step it up
The directors say they're willing to come back
Where are the kid's parents??? That would be a great plot line if they were also in danger
They in college bro and they explained why the parents aren’t there
They touch on it for the two main sisters in the movie.
I think the next one will be the end for the core 4, and this will be “The Core 4” trilogy.
Meta is the only reason most people go to see Scream.

Spoiler free: I just watched it. Surprisingly, it felt shorter than it’s original runtime. Say what you what, it feels awesome. I won’t lie to you, I didn’t get much of NY. Public spaces yeah but not a huge city setting. Same goes for Halloween theme. Not explored at all.
I had anxiety, I was tense throughout the whole movie although I had the reveal leaked. It was too predictable, the motive was…ok, anything feels better than Roman’s. Imagine if I hadn’t the reveal destroyed for myself. I would’ve loved it.
I love deaths that’s why I watch horror movies but tbh I really cared about the core 4 and the legacy ones I didn’t want any of them to die.
The new cast felt extremely underused or it was overshadowed by the familiar faces. The only one I liked a bit was Anika for some reason, she was cute af.
See, the good thing about killing Dewey was a) realistic reasons, someone has to go eventually after so many attacks b) I was biting my nails throughout the movie, especially when it came to Gale and Kirby.
The killer in the end should had more lines supporting their motive, I wouldn’t mind some more exposition.
In the previous movie I had a huge issue with Sam’s character and I caught myself cringe a little at some scenes with Melissa but in this one, oh boy she nailed it. Both sisters were epic, Chad became my fav and Mindy… well she could’ve been a little better.
Overall, I think that could be my fav movie after the original. 8/10
I loved Anika too. I never knew that her actress was in 1 of the later seasons of 'Degrassi'.
This is my favorite scream 6 review I’ve watches so far. And they’re number 11 as I’m currently on a marathon of them

The thing that's getting old and all too predictable is the monologs from the killer instead of finishing them off; I mean, at least tie them up first before you do it, but I guess it's to give the narratives of why the killers are doing what they're doing for the audience I guess
I jumped at the DVD menu on the Tv because Ghostface was right up in my face in front of the city. It almost is like you’re trying to take a photo of New York and Ghostface just pops up and says: “Excuse me, I’m sorry to screw up your photo but I have to kill you now.” 🤣🤣🤣😱😱😱

So... anticlimactic I guess, but the plot was all the same lol
The only thing different was that the unfinished version they showed just still had harnesses and ropes and stuff on some scenes for the stunts.
I do really like the movie though so I didn't walk out disappointed. I was also very happy when my friends walked out liking it a lot (they hadn't see it yet).

I think this entry was rather weak, I loved the opening scene and I like the Carpenter sisters but why won't they kill any characters they add a few new people to kill off but characters like Chad are stabbed 20 30 times and look fine 10 minutes later

Scream 6 was fun to watch but it’s far from being the best scream movie . In addition I thought they did not use NYC as much as they could have . The killer reveal was interesting but underwhelming.

climax scene reveal unexpected twist ghost face killer link with scream 5
Just watched and my ranking of the franchise is 1, 4/6, 2, 5, 3. This new entry shows rhe series still has life in it and not many franchises can boast the same bulb their 6th installment. I'm happy to brag a little that I figured out the mystery and the climax was satisfying. I think this leg of the franchise will build on the previous movies and im excited to see what's next (hopefully we get a few years between the 6th and 7th).
Why wouldn’t they have these knife-magnets under 24/7 police protection by now?

I prefer the Stab movies instead, true Cinema.
This movie was great! The setting was used very well. I loved the respect and call backs to previous scream movies. Only complaint was the main cast had some plot armor, should of had more deaths but that could be for scream 7. But this really is one of the best horror franchises with some weaker entries but no flat out bad movie.

You guys are lucky to see this movie a day early and I hope I can go see it if my mom takes me and if not then I wait until it goes on VOD since I can’t wait to watch it when it comes out on physical media
Scream 2 is way better than 4 and possibly better than the first one.
If they think this was good idk how to trust them. Fucking awful! People ignoring their surroundings was taken to an extreme, he woulda got his ass beat easily. Too many times was it 2 or 3 on 1 that couldn’t take him out. I agree about the characters
I agree with Martian wholeheartedly. This film starts off so fun to the point where ur like yeah this gonna be one of my favorites and then the real killer of this movie reveals themselves: the writing. I was having a blast until the writers exhausted with their conveniences, poor character decisions, and that atrocious ending and reveal. But at the very least the first half of this film is very enjoyable, fresh and new. It’s a mixed bag 6/10 for me. I also wanna clarify that I am a scream fan but I also hold high standards as I feel like the franchise used to be a cut above the rest with its commentary that was usually ahead of it’s time. These new films feel oddly dated in their motives and are spinning the wheel instead of reinventing the motive with each installment
Really? I gave it a 9.5, highest rated scream film ever from me. Screams my favorite horror franchise. 3 might still be my favorite tho
@@cameroncrisamore2871 the first 45 mins are strong and slightly flawed but I was having a good time. Then the film decided to pause for Tara to over explain the weird “let me get date raped moment” (that in and of itself could’ve been handled way better), the movie pausing yet again for another Mindy dialogue. I’m sorry give me Kirby or randy any day her delivery doesn’t work for me. Plus I don’t need to be lectured during a movie about the state of film. I’m enough of a film geek in my personal life. For me just give me ur 3 rules and keep it moving.
Gale is a huge issue for me, I just don’t like rolling back her character development unnecessarily and having her write a book. It wasn’t even the killers motivation so why even sacrifice her character development like that. Her ghost face scene was atrocious, they made her make dumb decision after dumb decision and I was not here for it. Gale is a 5 film vet, sure it’s ok for her to lose her encounter but don’t make the scene insulting to the character.
Then that final act comes like the final nail in the coffin. This movie is just scream 2 but worse. Scream 2 had solid themes and writing throughout. These ghost faces have to be the worst we’ve had. It’s not just the inconsistent acting especially from the detective. He seemed like he must have found out he was ghostface the day before and couldn’t decide how he was gonna play it. But it’s also the motive being tied to another round of lame ghost face riche. It’s far too much to believe that a family would do all of this and they would all be perfectly ok with this. Then there are the antics that occur with Sam. Why the hell did she feel the need to dress up before she makes the final kill. It cartoonish. Plus they managed to make her “I stab the fuck out of everyone” feel played out by doing it far too often. The dialogue is especially tired in the 3rd act. You love scream 3 so do I and I was feeling like Sidney when she screamed at Roman to get on with it already because I’ve heard this shit before.
Bottom line the film opened strong, different and exciting. Then it was back to basics doing what requels do: being poor imitations of shit we’ve already seen before. Plus Martian is right about the characters being flat and barely developed. This movie had a real shot to make commentary on victim hood, who gets to be victim, and the myth of the perfect victim. It’s literally built in with sams character being related to billy but I wouldn’t expect that kind of effort from a writing team that can’t do a simple google search to see how duty to warn actually works legally in therapy (another nitpick, I’m studying to become a therapist)
I feel like the reveals have all been duds except fot the first one. The contrived monologues about their motives are always let downs.
Scream is going to gain a new following of fans thanks to the fact that Jenna appears in both Scream and Wednesday.

At 3:49 I think that Scream 2 (1997 is better than one and I always love Scream 4 (2011) too that one is better than that one too in my opinions Korey nothing against the original Scream but I never grew up watching that one and Courteney Cox was more sexy in Scream 2 than she was in Scream 1 but that just me though in my opinions bro

I haven’t seen a Scream Film since the 2ND! IT; Scream; Michael Myers and Chucky have scarred Me from Horror Films for Life! 😂 But my Husband is dying to see this so reluctantly I’m going but when Korey showed C.Cox BF dying I think I might have a Headache this weekend!
I saw it today and really enjoyed it! If you’re going to see it I highly suggest you watch the rest because there are a lot of references to the other movies that won’t make sense of you haven’t seen them. Plus even the one considered to be the worst is still solid

The opening is different from the other openings in the franchise but ultimately goes nowhere. I thought they were setting up something pretty interesting but it fell flat especially once they reveal the identity of Ghostface at the end
