Anyway, here’s a quick summary of my review:
The DJM-S11 is a worthy sequel to the S9. It comes with everything you’ve come to love from the S9 such as its faders, pads, layout, and effect paddles.
But adds more to mix with its 4.3 inch touchscreen which not only displays waveforms, but does other useful things as well. like give you browse functions, the ability to use touch fx, and the ability to control 4 decks straight from the screen, and a whole lot more.
Now besides the screen, there are other notable improvements as well. And here are 4 of my favorites:
1. The addition of a CDJ/Controller USB hub which enables you to connect your CDJ or controller straight to your mixer instead of your computer
2. The added pad mode options which give you the ability to individually choose what pad does what on each deck
3. The new Smooth Echo effect, which allows you to activate an echo effect via your fader or pads
4. For Serato DJ users, the ability to use the Scratch Bank feature which lets you instantly load a sample or song to any deck for you to play and mess around with at anytime.
Now, overall I love this mixer, and I highly recommend this unit for any beginner or pro. For me this mixer is pretty much perfect except for like 2 things which I’ll get to later on in this video.
So let’s start with the layout and its design. Like the S9, Jazzy Jeff assisted Pioneer DJ in designing this mixer.
And though the S9 and S11 look pretty alike layout wise, there are a couple of difference worth mentioning between them.
1. Added pad modes
These buttons here let us control the ability of the pad section of a deck. And this is a much appreciated improvement over the last model, where one pad mode button affects all the pads
2. Bigger Pads and Load Button
The Pads and Load buttons on this unit are bigger. And I really like this, because those buttons, are the most important buttons you’ll trigger on this mixer especially when you’re doing complicated dj tricks and mixes
3. Smooth Echo
This function allows the user to activate an echo effect by either cuing a pad or cutting the faders. And this is an efficient and fast way to echo out from the track without needing to select your effect and activate it.
And speaking about buttons and triggers. The components on the S11 feel exactly the same with the S9. That includes knobs, buttons, pads, paddles and volume faders.
Two things to note about the faders though;
1. The Magvel Crossfader has been improved.
It feels better and has been strengthened to give you more stability when scratching
2. All the fader are not interchangeable with the S9. So an S9 volume fader will not fit in an S11 mixer, etc. Bummer.

I have the reloop mk2's & elite mixer now but when this mixer comes out. I'm definitely switching my elite mixer for the Pioneer s11 only because I love pioneer for all their built in effects and their workflow on the mixer. Nice review to bro😎

That opening mix was nice, best review about this mixer so far. I’m trying to make up my mind between the s11 and the rane seventy. I had the s9 and I loved it. The only downfall for me was the volume output..how is the volume output compared to the rane seventy? I also owned the rane ttm57 and that was a great mixer.

Question.... Are you able to control/use FX independently such as, having a reverb going on deck 1 and echo on deck 2 going at the same time, like you can on the DJM909 and Rane 72?
I am new to DJing and have been working on scratching lately. The scratch back feature is an awesome concept. what would you do to have a scratch sample accessible fast if you have a different mixer? I have a reloop elite and I love it, but I might have bought this if it were available at the time. It is a lot of work to cue a scratch sample and get the next track ready to mix

Fantastic review as always! Would you recommend the DJM-S11 for mobile DJs? My DJ partner uses Serato and I use Rekordbox - making setup a little difficult for switching off. I'm hoping that the S11 will fix that and make our hand offs seamless while DJing events.

Im not sure if the S11 does this but it would be sick if it does. With the CDJ/ controller option at the back instead of using computer. If I plug one cdj into that and then a turntable at the back. Can I load my music from the mixer to the 2nd channel which would have the turntable without having to use a laptop. If so that would be a sick feature.

Is the crossfader crisp.... My s9 mixer had too much "space' in the crossfader and my cuts were not crisp out the box, and even after I did the settings....I had to add the bumpers that are under the faceplate... still don't love it but got used to it.

Carlooooo help!! 🙏 …between the S11 and the Rane 70 A-trak version which one would you go for!?… I have a budget for only 1 of them Annnd how do you feel having all 3 Mag4 faders on the Rane 70 compared to the S11 only having 1 Magvel Pro which is on the crossfader only and not on the upfaders… are they good quality though? Since they’re not Magvel Pro and are just regular?
A little background about myself…
I am an open format dj…like literally I navigate through all genres of music every time I DJ at a gig from House old and new school and even underground and Chicago warehouse house to salsa to hip hop to reggae to Latin to European to Middle East to Italian to edm to trap to top 40s to 80’s 90’s new wave to freestyle to , etc, etc, etc and I love scratching to add that extra interesting flare with some scratching styles…I guess I’m something similar to what a red bull threestyle dj is…throwing in all genres with creativity and switching songs on the fly with quick mixes and scratches in between…so with that being said… which one would you get straight out flat?

Hey I have a question about using this with Traktor I have some Rane 12 MKII's as well as this mixer and you are really brief and fast with this explanation on how use the secret method to use trakor with this mixer would you make a video a bit more detailed and a bit slower i did what you advised and sure some of the things work but because i'm using Rane 12's how would i set this up or is this just to use the mixer with traditional turntables. I'g like to use this mixer and Traktor with the Rane 12 MKII's seeing as how Rane said that these turntables ( controllers ) are compatible with Traktor and they have a mode to do so but i followed as best I could with what you said and I'm getting no sound out of my speakers and the turntables are not responding at all which makes no sense. So if you please would you do a bit more and help those of us out and I'm gonna say this just cause it seems easy to you remember everyone can't keep up with you even with rewind you have to make it a bit more simpler for those of us that need to watch your videos about 100 times before we catch on PLEASE will you
Oh man, there was a lot of tinkering done with it to work with Traktor. There are some mappings available online for the S11 with Traktor, so that may be another option for you buddy!

Well ..I am using a beginner controller so I am impressed by it ... Size of the pads are pretty much satisfying though ..for drumming and other things ...new echo feature also sounds good
Do the effects work when using vinyl records? Or only dvs?
They should work bud! Since the FX works with the audio coming into the mixer, they should apply even to the music coming from records.
hey i have question for you. First of all thx for the nice review of this mixer. I bouth this mixer april 2022 and i want to use them with my 2 turntables en phase. Work nice an great. But afther 25 years dj-ing in clubs and bars, i stopped in 2020. I played now 5 our 6 time a year on some outdoor events and bring a dj set for max 2 hours. In mei 2022 i brougth my dj set up djm s11 in case toghether with my 2 turntables. 2 Things give me some problems... first one there is no place to come with a dj battle case behind the dj booth. Second problem that case has een awesome weight ( 2 turntables and djm s11) I can't do it allone some time's to bring this case on stage.
Afther this sets i chance my setup to my old all in one dj controller the denon mcx 8000. But this mixer is allready old and the play buttens stock ... But now for the djm s11 is there some small hardware to play compact on some events without my turntables and without to spend lot of many ? i still played at home with my tuntables, but for extern dj sets i look for someting to controlle my music and serato with my djm S11 mixer. i hope you can help me
Try having a look at the DDJ REV7. Might be the closest alternative to the S11 without having to deal with a ton of heavy gear.
@@djcarlo HEY Carlo thx for your reaction. The REV7 is a new console, is there something like hardware that i can you use with my Djm11S? actually the only that the hardware need to do is to have play en cue button and pitch slider. The rest off the future are on the djmS 11. By the way The djm S11 hase a play and cue button for serato on the key paths. But i don't have any pitch slider ... ive i can change my pitch my problem is actually solved.

This is definitely a flagship mixer, and I can't wait to see what DJs do with all the added functionality!! But for me, I'm more excited about the S9 Mk II or whatever the S9 refresh is gonna be called. Like how people feel about the Rane 70 compared to the 72, I think people just want a simple battle mixer that has all the functionality, without the screen.

I can see some of these feature being implemented into the CDJ 3000, especially as it's processor is extremely fast now.. I knew Pioneer had the tech, they were just waiting to drop bombs.

It depends on your CDJs I'd say, but if the connections are right, the wave forms should show up!

How are y’all viewing the waveforms on the turntables I don’t get it?? There is not a single video on this and everytime I ask a DJ they act like they don’t know what I’m saying.
I hope I get what you're referring to, but the waveforms come from a screen recording on Serato! Using the turntables alone with vinyl won't give you the waveforms, but having a laptop hooked up to it will show you the waveforms on the S11's screen :)

Of course that waveforms are not possible in MIDI mapping, and NI should implement HID mode anyway

Bogus as hell that they didn’t use the CDJ3000 screen on this mixer. But then how will they charge you an additional $1200 in 3 years when they release the same exact mixer with a better screen? 😂 I love pioneer, but I also hate pioneer

I completely respect the mixer's capability but at this point basically dj equipment and technology companies are just stacking the a mixer chassis with controller functions. The tech...programming and everything was already there....why is it still at the same price point given inflation as the flagship Pioneer Mixer from 10 years ago...from 20 years ago...it doesn't make sense.
10 years ago, Pioneer DJ's only flagship battle mixer was the DJM-909 that didn't have Serato capabilities.
@@priyonjoni But not because the tech or intelligence wasn't there. 10 years ago the same thing this mixer does now...every flagship controller did. Everyone of them Minus DVS etc but you understand my point...its the same tech.....same programs...same language at the same top dollar 10 yrs later?!
Why hasn't it gotten cheaper or at least have relevant new technological advance given the price point.
