My periodontist explained it but honestly, I was so nervous I had a tough time absorbing anything he was saying.

Thank you for this and the other gum graft informational videos, particularly the one on pain. I had this procedure done this week and wish I had seen this prior to my surgery. I’ve had the same dentist for 27 years and he didn’t offer much in the way of explanation, what to expect, potential complications and post operative pain prior to my gum graft. There were complications at the end, and my mouth filled with blood, my heart rate went sky high and I was dizzy and nauseous. There was a lack of communication and I did not know what was happening. It was scary, quite honestly. Today is day 2 post op. I did not realize the healing period would be so long. Will be looking for a different dentist if I need to have additional procedures.
I am a cleft palate patient and I’m not a good candidate for a bone graft and tooth implant for tooth #7, can gum graft bone done to blend in a 3 tooth bridge a bit better on the gum line to build up the area with tissue alternatively to bone?

Are there any specific indications where free gingival graft would be the only realistic option??
yes good question. most likely free gingival graft is a good option for lower anterior teeth. there's less of a blood supply in the area which makes the area more fickle to having a successful connective tissue graft. also there are other complexities like vestibule depth, amount of keratinized tissue, etc. it sounds a little complicated but usually it can be more difficult to get a good prognosis on the mandibular anterior teeth
Also if bone loss has happened due to a dentist raising a tooth artificially or making a crown too long, should a root canal be done? In my situation a dentist heightened and widened the crown and made it too long and even had gold underneath. This created an infection as some places the crown banged against bone as not all points were the same.

For the free gingival graft, the gums look a tire patch. Does that make your lower half of your face look puffy? Like will the gum tire patch be so big it pushes out against your mouth giving you a puffy face look?
I’m getting ready to for a tooth inplate.I am Worried after it heals .My regular dentist said I need to get a buildup for the crown part .Is this true?
Hello dr. I have generalized gum recession and is planning to have a gum grafting procedure done. Since I have a lot of teeth that needs grafting, is it possible that I will run out of connective tissue on the roof of my mouth? Like I would have to use human donor tissue when I use up all the connective tissue material on the roof of my mouth
I typically found I could do like 7 teeth max if I used your own roof of mouth. the connective tissue regenerates after about 3 months at which point you can harvest it again.

I paid 6500€ for pinhole surgery and lost all my money and have a worse situation than before. I didn't find many comments on RUclips maybe they get deleted. But i searched the Internet and found a thread where many people write they lost thousands of dollars or euros and for nothing. They all regret it. I only found two comments from ppl who said it has slightly improved but hundrets who regret it. I shouldn't have done it, it's one of the biggest regrets of my life and i cry everyday because it's so much worse than before. The dentist said it's a bad result but didn't really care. The surgery itself was very brutal and painful torture. I also found comments from professionals on the Internet who warn people, one doctor had it done on himself and ist warning people not to do it. My Front lower teeth got lose from the surgery and i found a comment from another person who wrote the same. Other ppl write they lost teeth or had nerve damage and the gums look like before. The pinhole dentist said my teeth might have been lose before but my main dentist doesn't believe it. They were strong. No matter how much you wish to find Help: Stay away from this surgery!
Have elected to have connective tissue graft in October, 2021 for 6mm gum recession of #13 top tooth. Periodontist felt that sedation was not needed. Are injections into the top palate painful? Have had root canals in the past. Tolerated the injections of the gum and tooth well. Have been told to expect post operative pain which can be addressed with analgesic medication. Told that I was not a candidate for pinhole procedure which has a high failure rate.
I know your comment is a little old, but was wondering did you get your grafting done. If so, how did it turn out as well getting things numb?... Was there alot of pain afterwards?
good question. the bone is the blood supply for the transplanted tissue. if you have too much bone loss between your teeth (interproximal bone loss), the prognosis will be affected.
I got some work done in Mexico and the gum specialist here said that gum grafting won’t help me but rather I need braces since there is spacing and recession mostly on my bottom front teeth. Any comments would be appreciated.

dermis is human donor tissue.
With donor tissue is there a chance of antibody resistance? Or your body rejecting the donor tissue? Like with pinhole?

Is this cover fully by insurance? Does a teenage patient need to be put to sleep for this procedure or can they be awake?
They usually just freeze you.
